The city of Baltimore, Maryland, suffered its second-highest murder count ever in 2015 with 344 murders, following only the horrific record count of 353 murders set in 1993, when the city had a much larger population than today.

According to The Baltimore Sun, the 2015 murder rate in Baltimore started off on par with other recent years, but spiked significantly following the destructive riots that rocked the city in April, with nearly 30 to 40 homicides per month throughout the rest of the year.

Almost 90 percent of the city’s homicides were gun-related, and non-fatal shootings were also higher than normal, with more than 900 people suffering gunshot wounds.

More than 90 percent of the shooting victims were boys or men, and more than 90 percent of those were black, more than half of them between the ages of 18 and 35.

Sadly, nearly two dozen of the victims were children, some even young toddlers unfortunately caught by crossfire or stray bullets.

Of course, the increased bloodshed in Baltimore and other major cities has sparked cries for more gun control by Democrats, though they seem to ignore the many gun laws already on the books that aren’t enforced and the fact that criminals by definition do not follow the laws.
