<p>The US government has reported that Russian advancement is being slowed down by Ukrainian forces, as we read in <a href="https://www.rferl.org/a/31724528.html">Radio Free Europe</a>:</p>

<p>U.S. and British officials say Russia is facing tougher-than-expected resistance in Ukraine, slowing its progress toward the imperiled capital, Kyiv, as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy issued a defiant message in the face of overwhelming Russian forces.</p>
<p>A senior U.S. defense official on February 26 told Reuters that it appears Russian commanders did not plan enough fuel and logistic support but were now attempting to adjust to cover shortages.</p>
<p>The official said U.S. intelligence had seen signs of “viable Ukrainian resistance” in the country.</p>
<p>“We know that they [the Russian forces] have not made the progress that they have wanted to make, particularly in the north. They have been frustrated by what they have seen is a very determined resistance,” the official said.</p>
<p>“It has slowed them down,” the official added.</p>
<p>Separately, the British Defense Ministry said Russia’s advance had slowed, also citing likely logistics problems and “strong Ukrainian resistance.”</p>
<p>“Russian forces are bypassing major Ukrainian population centers while leaving forces to encircle and isolate them. Overnight clashes in Kyiv are likely to have involved limited numbers of prepositioned Russian groups. The capture of Kyiv remains Russia’s primary military objective,” a Defense Ministry statement said.</p>
<p>Still, the Ukrainian capital appeared to be under imminent threat as massive numbers of Russian troops closed in from northern, southern, and eastern routes and as missile blasts continue to be heard in and around the city of some 2.6 million people.</p>

<p>In a significant shift, the German government said Saturday it will send weapons and other supplies directly to Ukraine and supports some restrictions of the SWIFT global banking system for Russia.</p>
<p>Germany’s chancellery announced it will send 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 “Stinger” surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine “as quickly as possible.”</p>
<p>“The Russian invasion of Ukraine marks a turning point. It threatens our entire post-war order,” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a statement. “In this situation, it is our duty to help Ukraine, to the best of our ability, to defend itself against Vladimir Putin’s invading army.”</p>
<p>In addition, the German economy and climate ministry said Germany is allowing the Netherlands to ship 400 German-made anti-tank weapons to Ukraine.</p>
<p>Germany had long stuck to a policy of not exporting deadly weapons to conflict zones, including Ukraine. As recently as Friday, government officials said they would abide by that policy.</p>
<p>The country has faced criticism from Ukrainian officials and other allies that it has not acted decisively enough to help Ukraine fend off the Russian invasion. Previously, Germany contributed 5,000 helmets to Ukraine’s defense.</p>
<p>In addition, Germany will send 14 armored vehicles and up to 10,000 tons of fuel to Ukraine.</p>

Some walked many miles through the night while others fled by train, car or bus, forming lines miles long at border crossings. They were greeted by waiting relatives and friends or headed on their own to reception centers organized by neighboring governments.</p>
<p>“This may go up, it’s changing every minute,” said Shabia Mantoo, the spokeswoman of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. “It’s very fluid and changing by the hour.”</p>
<p>The agency expects up to 4 million Ukrainians could flee if the situation deteriorates further.</p>
<p>Those arriving were mostly women, children and the elderly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy banned men of military age from 18 to 60 from leaving. Some Ukrainian men were heading back into Ukraine from Poland to take up arms against the Russian forces.</p>

<p>For anyone who has no memory or is unable to perform a basic Google search, Bush was president when America illegally invaded Iraq on the pretext of finding “weapons of mass destruction” that never existed.</p>

Is the cyberwar coming or is it already here?

<p>As Russia’s tanks rolled into Ukraine and its missiles struck targets across the country, its hackers launched waves of cyberattacks. In the weeks and days leading up to the <a href="https://www.vox.com/2022/2/23/22948534/russia-ukraine-war-putin-explosions-invasion-explained">Russian invasion</a>, Ukrainian websites were <a href="https://www.npr.org/2022/01/19/1074172805/more-than-70-ukrainian-government-websites-have-been-defaced-in-cyber-attacks">defaced</a> and <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/23/cyberattack-hits-ukrainian-banks-and-government-websites.html">taken offline</a>, and data-wiping malware was <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-60500618">unleashed</a> on government systems. And while the physical attack may have been a surprise to most, the virtual attack was not: Russia has used its cyberweapons against Ukraine for years. Now, the question for some is whether Russia will turn its cyberweapons toward the US and how the US would respond.</p>
<p>According to President Biden’s address on Thursday afternoon, the US can and will launch cyberattacks on Russia — but only if Russia attacks the US first.</p>
<p>“If Russia pursues cyberattacks against our companies, our critical infrastructure, we’re prepared to respond,” Biden said, adding that the government has been working with the private sector “for months” to prepare for Russian cyberattacks and responses to them.</p>
<p>Biden’s comments suggest that the White House is keen to frame any possible American cyberattacks on Russia as retaliation for Russia attacking the US first, and not as a preemptive move by the US or a retaliation for Russia’s attack on Ukraine. This sentiment was also expressed when the administration pushed back on <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/biden-presented-options-massive-cyberattacks-russia-rcna17558">an NBC report</a> claiming that, even if Russia didn’t attack first, Biden had been presented with options for using US cyberweapons against it “on a scale never before contemplated.” Press secretary Jen Psaki <a href="https://twitter.com/PressSec/status/1496919281535111211">tweeted</a> that the report was “off base” and “does not reflect what is actually being discussed in any shape or form.”</p>
<p>While a Russian cyberattack on Ukraine’s infrastructure is very possible — it has happened before — it’s less clear that this will happen to the US. While many countries have cyberweapons, few admit to using them, the US included. America is <a href="https://www.iiss.org/blogs/research-paper/2021/06/cyber-capabilities-national-power">believed to be</a> the most powerful country in the world in terms of cyber capabilities, but, <a href="https://www.newyorker.com/tech/annals-of-technology/how-cyber-weapons-are-changing-the-landscape-of-modern-warfare">for the most part</a>, it keeps its capabilities top-secret, though it has <a href="https://media.defense.gov/2018/Sep/18/2002041658/-1/-1/1/CYBER_STRATEGY_SUMMARY_FINAL.PDF">acknowledged</a> that they exist. While we know the US has cyberweapons, we know far less about what they are, what they have access to, and what kind of damage they can do if deployed as a weapon of war.</p>
<p>“Nation-states including the United States engage in intelligence-gathering operations in cyberspace, but no one has declared that activity an all-out cyberwar,” James Turgal, vice president of cyber risk, strategy, and board relations at cybersecurity firm Optiv, told Recode. “However, we are in a new era with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”</p>
<p>Experts say the US has almost certainly prepared for the increased chance of a cyberattack from Russia.</p>
<p>“In reality, it would be a surprise if the US defensive postures weren’t already in place,” Purandar Das, CEO of Sotero, a data security software company, said. “The government has in all likelihood deployed their defense mechanisms.”</p>
<p>George Perera, the associate director of cybersecurity law at St. Thomas University, said that a cyberattack from Russia would likely target critical infrastructure, and, if successful, “could be devastating.”</p>
<p>“Potentially you could lose clean water, electricity, financial markets, to name a few,” Perera explained. Importantly, he added that the likelihood of a successful attack on the US was “minimal,” thanks to the US’s defensive capabilities.</p>
<p>But some warned that the private sector especially may not be sufficiently prepared, even as many companies have scrambled in recent years to better protect against cyberattacks.</p>
<p>“The growth in ransomware and attacks over the past decade should have put private and public entities on alert to revamp their security postures, deploy new layers and tools, train staff, and continually improve their processes,” Ryan Golden, cybersecurity expert and chief marketing officer at Halcyon, which makes anti-ransomware software, said. “Unfortunately, cybersecurity programs are still viewed as a line item on a budget sheet, leaving many organizations and institutions vulnerable to disruption.”</p>
<p>Russia — both officially and through cybercriminals doing its bidding — has a long history of using cyberweapons against perceived enemies, including the US. Significant Russia-linked cyberattacks on the US in recent memory include the <a href="https://www.vox.com/recode/2020/12/14/22174314/government-hack-solarwinds-cozybear-russia">SolarWinds hack</a>, first discovered in late 2020, and a slew of high-profile ransomware attacks, including last year’s attack on the <a href="https://www.vox.com/recode/22527272/ransomware-cyberattacks-bitcoin-explained">Colonial oil pipeline</a>. The former, which led to the infiltration of several US government agencies along with about a hundred companies, was attributed to Russia’s intelligence service. The latter, which took a pipeline that transports half of the East Coast’s gasoline offline for several days, was attributed to Russia-based criminal organizations, likely operating with the Russian government’s knowledge and approval.</p>
<p>Putin denied that Russia had any part in either incident, and the Russian embassy has <a href="https://www.facebook.com/RusEmbUSA/posts/1488755328001519">previously said</a> it “doesn’t conduct operations in the cyber domain.” But the Biden administration cited the SolarWinds hack as one of the reasons for economic sanctions against Russia <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/04/15/fact-sheet-imposing-costs-for-harmful-foreign-activities-by-the-russian-government/">last April</a>, and the president said last June that, a few weeks after the Colonial Pipeline attack, he told Putin there would be “consequences” if ransomware attacks on the US continued.</p>
<p>“Russia has managed to evade much of the responsibility for cyberattacks,” Josef Schroefl, deputy director of strategy and defense at the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, said. “In conventional warfare, attribution is usually straightforward. But in cyberspace it is very complex, and can be time-consuming and costly.”</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Ukraine has for years been under near-constant threat of cyberattacks from Russia. The country’s power grid was attacked in <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-38573074">2015 and 2016</a> and is <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/02/19/despite-years-of-preparation-ukraines-electric-grid-still-far-from-ready-for-russian-hackers-00010373">reportedly</a> still vulnerable today. Malware called <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/russian-military-was-behind-notpetya-cyberattack-in-ukraine-cia-concludes/2018/01/12/048d8506-f7ca-11e7-b34a-b85626af34ef_story.html">NotPetya</a> was unleashed on Ukraine’s financial sector in 2017 and ended up spreading to millions of computers all over the world, doing <a href="https://www.brookings.edu/techstream/how-the-notpetya-attack-is-reshaping-cyber-insurance/">billions of dollars in damage</a>. In October 2020, the US <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/six-russian-gru-officers-charged-connection-worldwide-deployment-destructive-malware-and">charged</a> several Russian intelligence officers for their alleged involvement in the development of NotPetya and hacking attacks on Ukraine’s power grid.</p>
<p>For its part, the United States has also been caught using cyberweapons a few times. It, in coordination with Israel, is believed to be behind <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/stuxnet-was-work-of-us-and-israeli-experts-officials-say/2012/06/01/gJQAlnEy6U_story.html">Stuxnet</a>, a virus that targeted Iran’s nuclear program. Neither country has ever admitted to this.</p>
<p>As for Ukraine, Das said he believes it will carry out its own attacks on Russia — “Ukraine is already a hotbed of technical activity, and they have the skills” — although the US might help with intelligence. Schroefl said Ukraine has “expanded and greatly improved its capabilities” to defend against cyberattacks in the last few years, with the help of European Union countries and Israel. “But principally, Ukraine still needs support, especially in securing its command and control systems as well as critical infrastructure.”</p>
<p>It appears that Ukraine is also getting some help from hackers that aren’t affiliated with any state: It reportedly appealed to its “hacker underground,” as <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/exclusive-ukraine-calls-hacker-underground-defend-against-russia-2022-02-24/">Reuters called it</a>, to help protect Ukrainian infrastructure and to spy on the Russian military. The hacker collective known as Anonymous <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/anonymous-hackers-claim-responsibility-for-cyberattacks-against-russian-state-news-site-rtcom">claimed</a> on Thursday night that it was behind a DDoS attack that took down Russian state-sponsored news site RT. On the Russian side, one prominent ransomware gang has <a href="https://www.vice.com/en/article/y3vxnm/russian-ransomware-gang-says-it-will-support-russian-government">pledged its loyalty</a> to Russia.</p>
<p>Karen Walsh, CEO of Allegro Solutions, noted that it’s likely the US is already engaging in some kind of offensive cyber operations. It’s also likely that we won’t know any or all of the US’s actions for a long time to come. The US government <a href="https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/IF/IF11718">has said</a> that Russia’s cyberattacks can be “brazen and aggressive operations, sometimes with questionable levels of operational security and secrecy.” The United States, on the other hand, has been much more secretive about any of its cyberattacks, to the point that we rarely know it’s doing anything at all.</p>
<p>“Until classified documents are unclassified 50 years from now, we’ll never know the full extent of our offensive cyber operations,” Walsh said. “Hopefully, any US cyberwarfare will remain targeted toward Russian military capabilities and limit the impact on the everyday Russian citizen.”</p>
<p>Russia’s attacks on Ukraine in the real world and in cyberspace have, so far, followed known tactics that we’ve seen before. An all-out cyberwar — one that would include hugely disruptive, dangerous, and high-profile attacks on critical infrastructure and weapons systems — hasn’t happened yet. But it’s looking more likely than ever that such a war could be here soon.</p>

<p>When Russian President Vladimir <a href="https://www.vox.com/2022/2/23/22948534/russia-ukraine-war-putin-explosions-invasion-explained">Putin announced his invasion of Ukraine</a> on February 24, he also made a more nebulous threat: “No matter who tries to stand in our way or … create threats for our country and our people, they must know that Russia will respond immediately, and the consequences will be such as you have never seen in your entire history.”</p>
<p><a href="https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-vladimir-putin-europe-poland-nuclear-weapons-2503c0d7696a57db4f437c90d3894b18">Another part of his speech</a> seemed to make his meaning clear. “Today’s Russia remains one of the most powerful nuclear states,” Putin said. As justification for the invasion, Putin also made unfounded claims that Ukraine was on a path to build its own nuclear arsenal. “There’s no evidence of that at all,” said <a href="https://fas.org/expert/hans-kristensen/">Hans Kristensen</a>, director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.vox.com/2022/2/23/22948534/russia-ukraine-war-putin-explosions-invasion-explained">The Russian invasion</a> has relied entirely on conventional weapons — tanks rattling down highways, bombers flying overhead, ships landing in the port city of Odesa — and experts told Vox that in the absence of a shocking escalation, that isn’t likely to change.</p>
<p>Still, Putin’s remarks were a stark reminder that nuclear weapons aren’t just the boogeymen of a bygone age, but remain a key part of the security order that emerged after the end of World War II. By Kristensen’s count, Russia has about 6,000 nuclear weapons and the United States has about 5,500. Either nuclear arsenal is <a href="https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/2018/10/19/17873822/nuclear-war-weapons-bombs-how-kill">large enough to kill billions of people</a> — but also to serve as a deterrent against attack.</p>
<p>In recent decades, the so-called nuclear order has remained fairly stable. The <a href="https://fas.org/issues/nuclear-weapons/status-world-nuclear-forces/">seven other countries</a> known to have nuclear weapons have much smaller arsenals. Most countries in the world have signed onto the <a href="https://www.nti.org/education-center/treaties-and-regimes/treaty-on-the-non-proliferation-of-nuclear-weapons/">Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons</a> (NPT), which limits the development of nuclear weapons. We asked three researchers of nuclear arms control about the risks the world faces now and what we might be able to do about them.</p>
<p>While Putin’s remarks are certainly cause for concern — especially since they introduced the largest military operation in Europe since the Second World War — the scholars who spoke to Vox said a nuclear strike is still unlikely. “I think there is virtually no chance nuclear weapons are going to be used in the Ukraine situation,” said <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/matthew-bunn">Matthew Bunn</a>, a professor at the Harvard Kennedy School and former adviser to President Bill Clinton’s Office of Science and Technology Policy.</p>
<p>The main reason, Bunn said, is that the United States and its NATO allies have made it clear that they will <a href="https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2022/2/25/22949351/ukraine-russia-us-troops-no-fly-zone-nuclear-weapons">not send troops to Ukraine</a>. Without the threat of military intervention, Putin has little reason to use his nuclear weapons, especially since Russia has a staggering numbers advantage over the Ukrainian military.</p>
<p>“His objective is not to bring the world to nuclear war,” said <a href="https://www.bu.edu/pardeeschool/profile/paul-webster-hare/">Paul Hare</a>, senior lecturer in global studies at Boston University. “His objective is to simply swallow Ukraine — and restore not just the [power of the] Soviet Union, but the Tsarist empire.”</p>
<p>Still, said Kristensen, “I’m more worried than I was a week ago.” He pointed out that NATO <a href="https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/official_texts_192404.htm?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=smc&amp;utm_id=220224+ukraine+nac+statement">increased</a> its readiness levels for “all contingencies” in response to Putin’s speech, and with increased military buildup comes increased uncertainty. “That’s the fog of war, so to speak,” Kristensen said. “Out of that can come twists and turns that take you down a path that you couldn’t predict a week ago.”</p>
<p>Russia’s roughly 6,000 warheads make it the country with the largest nuclear arsenal. Kristensen said most of those warheads are in reserves, with only about 1,600 deployed as land, sea, and air-based weapons, such as missiles in silos or bombs dropped by planes. (When the USSR fell apart at the end of the Cold War, there were nuclear weapons left behind on Ukrainian soil, but Ukraine <a href="https://twitter.com/nukestrat/status/1495925696056766467?s=20&t=dpW-MNbLS1mkHnNjFLIOdw">returned</a> them to Russia.)</p>
<p>The countries known to have nuclear weapons are Russia, the US, China, France, the UK, Pakistan, India, Israel, and North Korea. That includes every permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, which have been working to modernize their nuclear weapons over the past few decades, and three members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The <a href="https://fas.org/issues/nuclear-weapons/status-world-nuclear-forces/">total number of weapons</a> has dropped by about 80 percent since the end of the Cold War, from an estimated 70,300 in 1986 to 12,700 in early 2022.</p>
<p>That’s still a lot of nukes. “There has been much discussion about whether that means Russia has a sort of trigger-happy nuclear posture,” Kristensen said. “It’s hard to pin down. if Russian officials were asked to sit down around a table and entirely consider how many tactical nuclear weapons were needed, purely based on real, strategic rationales, I suspect that number would quickly drop to a lot less [than what it is today].”</p>
<p>From a strategic standpoint, the experts said, there’s no reason for Russia to use nuclear weapons. But they said Putin himself was the biggest source of uncertainty. “The element of emotion and anger that’s crept into Putin’s statements in particular is striking,” said Hare. “Normally we’ve associated Russia’s diplomatic style with a kind of laconic, almost sarcastic manner.”</p>
<p>It’s worth remembering, Kristensen added, that Putin often makes allusions to Russia’s nuclear arsenal as a show of strength. In 2015, he <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2015/03/16/europe/russia-putin-crimea-nuclear/index.html">said in</a> a Russian state TV documentary that he had considered putting Russian nuclear forces on alert during the Russian annexation of Crimea a year prior.</p>
<p>This could be a sign that Putin’s nuclear rhetoric is more bark than bite, but Kristensen wasn’t ready to say that for sure. “He lives in a very small bubble, and he’s deeply paranoid,” Kristensen said. “He’s willing to do really not very rational things.”</p>
<p>“The physical fact of a nuclear weapon’s destructive power absolutely creates fear,” said Bunn. Nuclear deterrence — the idea that one country wouldn’t dare attack another for fear of a nuclear strike — was the major security policy of the Cold War period, and experts say it remains very much alive today. As my <a href="https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2022/2/25/22949351/ukraine-russia-us-troops-no-fly-zone-nuclear-weapons">colleague Zack Beauchamp recently wrote</a>, the threat of nuclear weapons is the reason the US won’t send troops to Ukraine.</p>
<p>But nuclear deterrence clearly didn’t end all wars. The existence of nuclear weapons “didn’t help us in Vietnam, they didn’t help us in Iraq, they didn’t help us in Afghanistan,” Bunn said. “Nuclear weapons aren’t useful for the majority of the security and well-being challenges that the United States faces.”</p>
<p>Since the Cold War, it’s been widely accepted that nuclear deterrence would help ensure that the borders of Europe would not be challenged. The Ukraine crisis, said Hare, is casting some doubt on that idea. “The credibility of deterrence hasn’t been tested for decades,” Hare said. “The whole international order is sort of being thrown up in the air. Is the Ukraine attack going to be a prelude to an attack on, say, the Baltic states that are even more vulnerable, or is Putin going to be satisfied with Ukraine?”</p>
<p>The answer, Hare said, will shape how the United States and its NATO allies decide to deploy their forces — conventional and nuclear — around the world. “We’re starting to see large powers begin to sort of entertain the thought of limited tactical nuclear weapons use scenarios, in a way that they didn’t spend very much time thinking about 10 years ago,” said Kristensen. These are the sorts of unlikely scenarios that have been tossed around in war games as contingencies since the Cold War, and could entail strikes on isolated military targets that are far from population centers, for example.</p>
<p>“The theory is very much like it was during the Cold War,” Kristensen explained. “You just sort of have some smaller nukes that you can pop off here and there, to force an adversary to take an off-ramp during a conflict.”</p>
<p>For the most part, global efforts to prevent nuclear weapons from spreading, like the Non-Proliferation Treaty, have been strikingly successful. But these efforts need constant attention and maintenance. “Globally, the nuclear order is in pretty bad shape,” said Bunn. North Korea continues to build up its nuclear arsenal, India and Pakistan appear to be engaging in an arms race to build up short-range tactical nuclear weapons, and hostility is ratcheting up between the US, Russia, and China.</p>
<p>“People should pay attention,” said Kristensen. “They have to be vigilant about holding their governments accountable, and make sure that the policies that are in place and the way they’re implemented are constructive, that they actually lead to improving the situation rather than making it worse.” A <a href="https://www.state.gov/new-start/">key US-Russia agreement</a> to limit nuclear-armed missiles, known as the New START Treaty, is set to expire in February 2026, and the degraded relations between the United States and Russia will make negotiating a renewal much harder.</p>
<p>“The huge increase in US-Russian hostility will lead to increased risks of conflict and make it more difficult to work with Russia,” Bunn said. “Whether it’s working to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons to other countries or improving security for nuclear weapons and materials and facilities, all of that goes better if the United States and Russia are working together. And they’re not going to be doing that for some time to come.”</p>
<p>There is some good news, Bunn said. There are <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/02/23/iran-us-nuclear-deal/">promising signs</a> for the reinstatement of the Iran nuclear deal, which would affirm the principles of the Non-Proliferation Treaty. “It’s important to remember that only 5 percent of the countries in the world have nuclear weapons,” Bunn said. “Every other state has pledged to never develop nuclear weapons.”</p>
<p>For decades, Bunn added, about one in every 10 US lightbulbs was <a href="https://www.npr.org/2013/12/11/250007526/megatons-to-megawatts-russian-warheads-fuel-u-s-power-plants#:~:text=Megatons%20To%20Megawatts%3A%20Russian%20Warheads%20Fuel%20U.S.%20Power%20Plants%20Once,fuel%20for%20U.S.%20power%20plants.">powered</a> by uranium from decommissioned Russian warheads, which was sent to American nuclear power plants — a reminder that the world actively worked together to turn a tool of destruction into a force for good. “That’s remarkable,” Bunn said. “It’s never been true before in human history that the most powerful weapon available to our species was widely forsworn.”</p>

<p><strong>Democrat candidates running for office should take credit for ending the Covid-19 crisis, an internal memo circulated by left-leaning political strategists advises.</strong></p>
<p>In a Thursday memo titled, “Taking the Win over COVID-19,” first published at <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://punchbowl.news/impact-covid-positioning-strategy-memo/" target="_blank">punchbowl.news</a>, consultants for the Democrat polling and strategy firm <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://impactresearch.com/" target="_blank">Impact Research</a> encouraged Dems to distance themselves from increasingly unpopular Covid restrictions.</p>
<p>“Declare the crisis phase of Covid over and push for feeling and acting more normal,” the letter recommends.</p>
<p>“Because of President Biden and Democrats, we CAN safely return to life feeling much more normal – and they should claim that proudly,” the memo advises candidates.</p>
<p>Another bullet point tip for aspiring Democrat politicians also recommends sympathizing with voters’ feelings of being “worn out” by the lockdowns and Covid restrictions, which ironically were largely imposed by Democrats.</p>
<p>“Six in ten Americans describe themselves as ‘worn out’ by the pandemic. The more we talk about the threat of COVID and onerously restrict people’s lives because of it, the more we turn them against us and show them we’re out of touch with their daily realities,” the memo reads.</p>
<p>On its website, the polling firm <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://impactresearch.com/clients/" target="_blank">boasts</a> about its work with Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, as well as other prominent party leaders.</p>

<p><strong>Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida on Thursday, the state’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis didn’t hold back when criticizing Dr. Fauci, mainstream media and Big Tech.</strong></p>
<p>Florida’s biggest “critics” and pro-lockdown Americans still come to visit the Sunshine State, DeSantis noted in the speech.</p>
<p>Explaining why even many liberals escape their Democrat-run states to vacation in Florida, DeSantis said, “From the very beginning, we refused to let this state descend into some type of Faucian dystopia where people’s freedoms are curtailed and their livelihoods are destroyed.”</p>

<p>“We protected people’s rights, we protected people’s jobs, we protected small businesses and we made sure every kid in the state of Florida had an opportunity to go to school in person five days a week,” he continued.</p>
<p>The governor added, “In Florida, we reject the biomedical security state which erodes liberty, harms livelihoods and divides our society. And, we not only reject it when it’s government, we have done things like ban vaccine passports and mandates, because it’s unacceptable to subcontract out Fauci-ism to big companies. So, we’ve stood for freedom across the board and the result is Florida has defeated Fauci-ism. Freedom has prevailed in the Sunshine State.”</p>
<p>DeSantis also targeted “wokeness” during his speech, noting it has infected almost every major institution from academia and corporate America to the bureaucracy and legacy media.</p>
<p>The media, the Florida governor said, is dividing the nation while propping up the Biden administration.</p>
<p>“They are not in the business of telling the truth, they’re in the business of spinning partisan narratives to be able to benefit their side,” he told the crowd. “They don’t speak truth to power, they’re defending the regime in power, and if you speak up, they come after you, they’ll smear you, they’ll defame you.”</p>
<p>DeSantis added, “All they do day after day is concoct a blizzard of lies to try to deceive the American people. And make no mistake, that’s going to intensify leading up to November. They’re going to do anything they can to take the blame off Biden and to try and fool the American people into keeping Democrats in office.”</p>
<p>When it comes to Big Tech, the popular Republican governor detailed how they work with mainstream media and the Biden regime to censor conservative voices or anyone else who dissents with establishment narratives.</p>
<p>“When you have a society that’s veering away from the truth, anybody that stands up and speaks the truth will come under fire,” DeSantis warned.</p>

<p><strong>The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), an independent group of experts who advise the UK’s government health departments on immunisations published a <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/jcvi-update-on-advice-for-covid-19-vaccination-of-children-aged-5-to-11/jcvi-statement-on-vaccination-of-children-aged-5-to-11-years-old">report</a> on 16 February stating, <em>‘JCVI advises a non-urgent offer at two 10mcg doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine to children aged 5 to 11 years of age who are not in a clinical risk group.’</em></strong></p>
<p>I recently interviewed Dr Tony Hinton, a retired NHS surgeon of 35 years, regarding the JCVI’s recent statement, which I posted on my <a href="https://soniaelijah.substack.com/p/my-interview-with-dr-tony-hinton-e3d?utm_source=url">substack</a>. Dr Hinton found it to be full of contradictions and the CDC data that the JCVI relied upon to be skewed, in comparison to data recorded in a Hong Kong study, yielding significantly different vaccine-related myocarditis rates in children.</p>
<p>The following day, a breaking news story by <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/20/health/covid-cdc-data.html">The New York Times</a>, came to my attention, what it revealed helps explain why the CDC data appears to be so irregular. The article exposed the fact that the CDC (Centre for Disease Control in the US) had been withholding vast amounts of Covid data from the public. It stated: <em>‘Two full years into the pandemic, the agency leading the country’s response to the public health emergency has published only a tiny fraction of the data it has collected.’</em></p>
<p>The article went on to quote, Samuel Scarpino, managing director of pathogen surveillance at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Pandemic Prevention Institute, who said, <em>“The C.D.C. is a political organization as much as it is a public health organization.”</em></p>
<p>His bombshell statement helps make a strong case that the US Covid policy (including the vaccine programme) has been governed by politics all along, rather than the science.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the JCVI and the MHRA have relied unquestioningly on Pfizer’s clinical trial data to authorise and recommend the experimental Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine comprising of the novel lipid nanoparticle formulation containing nucleoside-modified mRNA.</p>
<p>The same clinical trial data that’s been cast into serious doubt by recent whistle-blowers, like Brook Jackson, the regional director of several of the clinical trial sites used in Pfizer’s pivotal Phase III trial, which the <a href="https://www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n2635">BMJ</a> covered, last November.</p>
<h3><strong>The Pfizer and BioNTech funded evaluation report</strong></h3>
<p>What’s highly concerning is that the study published in the <a href="https://www.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.1056/NEJMoa2116298?articleTools=true">NEJM</a> (The New England Journal of Medicine) which the JCVI included in their recent report, when evaluating vaccine safety of the Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT162b2) vaccine in children aged 5-11- was entirely funded by Pfizer and BioNtech, with the authors of the study directly working for either company. It’s also disturbing, how nobody at the JCVI would have sounded the alarm bells of ‘conflict of interest’ but instead chose to remain silent and rely on that far from independent study.</p>

<p>The Pfizer and BioNTech funded report states that <em>‘Covid-19 vaccines are urgently needed in children younger than 12 years of age’</em>and of course concludes that the Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT162b2) vaccine is <em>‘safe, immunogenic, and efficacious in children 5 to 11 years of age</em>.’ The report alarmingly states, <em>‘Without effective Covid-19 vaccines for this age group, children could potentially become ongoing reservoirs of infection and sources of newly emerging variants.’</em></p>
<p>In my opinion, for children to be described by Pfizer and BioNTech as<em> ‘ongoing reservoirs of infection’ </em>is offensive and epitomises the way they have been treated for the past two years-including being labelled as ‘super-spreaders.’ There have been several highly credible reports citing evidence, which state otherwise.</p>
<h3><strong>The major contradictions of the JCVI report</strong></h3>
<p>There were many irregularities of JCVI’s <em>‘non-urgent offer’</em> which stood out to Dr Hinton. Firstly, in all his years in medicine, Dr Hinton has never come across the JCVI use that type of language when recommending an immunization. From the beginning of the interview, he said that the JCVI are not recommending the vaccine for this age group – it says it will be an “<em>open non urgent offer to parents</em>.” The term itself exposes the fact that there is no urgent need to offer the vaccination for this age group- so why offer it anyway?</p>
<p>One of the reasons they give for their ‘non urgent offer’ is to prevent <strong>‘</strong><em><strong>a future wave of infection</strong></em><strong>’ whilst making note of the fact that the vaccination of this group ‘</strong><em><strong>is not expected to have an impact on the current wave of Omicron</strong></em><strong>.’</strong></p>
<p>For over a year now, evidence has shown that the COVID-19 vaccines and their boosters, do not prevent people from contracting the virus or prevent transmission. Indeed, Israel rolled out the fourth dose of the Pfizer Vaccine in early January, and since then has experienced skyrocketing Covid-19 cases. So, how would vaccinating young healthy children prevent a future wave of infection? It cannot and it’s unusual that the JCVI would make this claim.</p>
<p><strong>The report importantly states that young children have ‘</strong><em><strong>asymptomatic or mild disease following</strong></em> <strong>infection with SARS-CoV-2 and that ‘</strong><em><strong>children aged 5 to 11 are at the very lowest risk from COVID-19’</strong></em><strong> which completely renders hollow their non-urgent offer.</strong></p>
<h3><strong>The case for natural immunity</strong></h3>
<p>Another anomaly that stood out in the report that Dr Hinton highlighted was the JCVI’s admission that ‘<em><strong>over 85% of all children’ </strong></em>would have already contracted SARS-CoV-2, leading to acquired natural immunity. Prima facie, this seems like welcome news, given the relentless dismissal of one of the fundamental principles of immunology by global government health bodies and public health officials- natural immunity. The report goes on to rightfully assume that ‘<em><strong>Natural immunity arising from prior infection will contribute towards protection against future infection</strong>.</em>’ The JCVI appear to directly contradict themselves as their ‘non-urgent offer’ of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for young healthy children, appears to be based on the threat of a future infection.</p>
<h3><strong>The data</strong></h3>
<p>In the interview, I mentioned that the JCVI had relied on CDC data (which we now know only a tiny fraction has been released to the public). I read out an extract from their report, ‘In the <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/acip/meetings/downloads/slides-2022-01-05/02-COVID-Su-508.pdf">United States</a> (linked to CDC Covid-19 Vaccine Task Force report) <strong>less than 2 cases</strong> of vaccine-related myocarditis have been reported per million doses.’</p>
<p>Dr. Hinton believed that rate to be much higher. He said “even if it was based on 2 cases of myocarditis per million, given there are 5.6 million 5–11-year-olds in the UK that would give rise to 11 cases of myocarditis, with a possibility 50% death rate over 5 years. Plus, you’re looking at 3 cases of possibly not going to ICU versus 11 cases of vaccine-related myocarditis.”</p>
<p>Dr. Hinton spoke about a Hong Kong study that was done which gives a much more accurate picture of vaccine-related myocarditis cases in children.</p>
<p>“From the first dose there were 55 recorded cases per million, from the second dose it jumped to 370 cases per million, so altogether they had 425 cases per million injections. So, for us to vaccinate 5.6 million children in the UK, that would lead to 2380 cases- far higher than what the JCVI say.”</p>
<p>In the interview, I mentioned a recent study published on January 25, 2022, in <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2788346">JAMA</a>(Journal of the American Medical Association) which showed the risk of myocarditis following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination (Pfizer and Moderna vaccines) ‘was increased across multiple age and sex strata and was highest after the second vaccination dose in adolescent males and young men. This risk should be considered in the context of the benefits of Covid-19 vaccination.’</p>
<p>Since the study in JAMA was published well before the JCVI released their statement, the experts in the group should have been aware of this peer-reviewed study and included it when considering vaccine safety rather than simply relying on a non-peer-reviewed, Pfizer-funded Covid-19 vaccine evaluation report.</p>
<p>Based on the very recent damning evidence against the CDC and the alarming conclusion of the new study in JAMA, the JCVI need to immediately withdraw their statement.</p>
<p>On February 11th, 90 medical professionals forming the group, Children’s Covid Advisory Group (CCVAG) wrote a letter to the government ‘to pause the child Covid vaccine rollout pending results of an investigation into serious safety signals.’</p>
<p>Their letter was ignored by the government and the JCVI. In response, 500 British medical professionals co-signed the original letter and a small group of representatives hand delivered it to the JCVI and the Chief Medical Officer, on February 24th.</p>

<p>On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced that the US would impose more aggressive sanctions on Russia’s financial institutions in the wake of its <a href="https://www.vox.com/2022/2/23/22948534/russia-ukraine-war-putin-explosions-invasion-explained">recent military attack on Ukraine</a>.</p>
<p>That approach has the backing of many congressional Democrats and Republicans who’ve expressed support for “crippling” sanctions.</p>
<p>“I am committed to ensuring that the United States upholds our responsibility to exact maximum costs on Putin, the Russian economy, and those who enabled and facilitated this trampling of Ukraine’s sovereignty,” Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, <a href="https://www.foreign.senate.gov/press/chair/release/sfrc-chairman-menendez-statement-on-russias-attack-on-ukraine">said in a Thursday statement</a>.</p>
<p>“We’re all together at this point and we need to be together about what should be done,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell <a href="https://www.axios.com/mitch-mcconnell-sanctions-russia-7aec6330-9e88-40a1-b57f-5e9b6f561863.html">said during a press event on Thursday</a>. “Ratchet the sanctions all the way up. Don’t hold any back. Every single available tough sanction should be employed, and should be employed now.”</p>
<p>Their statements follow Russia’s decision to begin a <a href="https://www.vox.com/2022/2/23/22948534/russia-ukraine-war-putin-explosions">“special military operation” in Ukraine</a>, which included missile strikes in major cities like Kyiv early Thursday morning local time. They also come after Congress failed to reach a compromise on sanctions earlier this month, ceding such authority to Biden instead.</p>
<p>On Thursday, Biden said the US would impose new sanctions on four major banks and cut off Russia’s access to many high-tech imports. These sanctions are in addition to <a href="https://www.vox.com/2022/2/22/22945610/russia-sanctions-ukraine-nord-stream">another tranche of restrictions</a> Biden announced earlier this week, which already hit two major banks and sought to curb Russia’s access to foreign financing.</p>
<p>“We’re going to stunt the ability to finance and grow the Russian military,” Biden said in his speech.</p>
<p>Biden also made clear in his remarks that the US would not be sending troops into Ukraine as part of its response, a move some lawmakers have expressed concerns about. Thus far, the Pentagon has stationed US troops in eastern Europe to help process refugees and support NATO allies.</p>
<p>The general unity Democrats and Republicans have on Russian sanctions marks a change in tone from recent weeks, when the parties couldn’t agree on when to impose penalties. Now lawmakers broadly agree on the need for harsh sanctions, though that consensus doesn’t necessarily extend to Biden’s handling of the conflict overall.</p>
<p>Democrats and Republicans have aggressively denounced Russia’s invasion and fully supported more severe sanctions.</p>
<p>“The last few hours have laid bare for the world to witness the true evil that is Vladimir Putin,” Reps. Mike Rogers (R-AL), Michael McCaul (R-TX), and Mike Turner (R-OH), the top House Republicans on the Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Intelligence Committees, respectively, <a href="https://republicans-armedservices.house.gov/news/press-releases/rogers-mccaul-turner-react-russia-s-renewed-invasion-ukraine">said in a Wednesday statement.</a></p>
<p>In addition to the sanctions on Russian banks, the administration has also sanctioned the Russian company behind the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline. Lawmakers have urged the administration to impose sanctions on more banks and Russia’s ability to use Swift, a system that allows the country to engage in business with the West. That’s a penalty Ukrainian leaders have called for as well.</p>
<p>“We must enact debilitating sanctions on Russia and cut them off from the global economy,” <a href="https://twitter.com/RepAdamSchiff/status/1496700632987836417">House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) said in a Wednesday statement.</a></p>
<p>Biden’s speech addressed some of these calls with its focus on additional financial institutions. He noted that the sanctions will not address Swift because certain European countries — including Italy and Germany — did not want to take that route just yet.</p>
<p>“The sanctions proposed on all their banks have equal consequence, if not more consequence, than Swift,” Biden said.</p>
<p>Some Republicans have also floated the idea of adding additional sanctions to Russia’s energy exports, which would be debilitating to the country’s economy. The administration has resisted doing this, however, because of the consequences it could have on energy costs and supply in the US and in allied countries.</p>
<p>While the support for sanctions has been bipartisan, Republicans have been split when it comes to Biden’s handling of the Ukraine conflict.</p>
<p>Certain lawmakers, like Senate Foreign Relations ranking member Jim Risch, have focused on the need to counter Russia in their initial responses, while others used this opportunity to criticize Biden’s “weakness” on the issue and a third group questioned the US’s involvement in Ukraine at all.</p>
<p>House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was among those who put the emphasis on Russia and condemned Putin’s invasion as “reckless and evil” in a statement on Wednesday. Later in the day, however, he retweeted a post from Rep. Beth Van Duyne criticizing Biden’s approach to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/us-waive-sanctions-firm-ceo-behind-russias-nord-stream-2-pipeline-source-2021-05-19/">which the administration waived sanctions for last year.</a></p>
<p>A number of Trump-friendly members went further in their critiques of Biden. “Joe Biden has shown nothing but weakness and indecision,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) said in a statement seemingly implying that the invasion of Ukraine was Biden’s fault.</p>

<p>Lawmakers like Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) made similar statements. “After just one year of a weak, feckless, and unfit president of the United States and Commander-in-Chief, the world is less safe,” Stefanik said.</p>
<p>McConnell, though he stressed the need for a united front on sanctions, also said that he felt the administration’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal likely sent other leaders a message that the US is in “retreat.”</p>
<p>These arguments echo more explicit comments made by former President Donald Trump, who has praised Putin’s willingness to invade Ukraine and repeatedly denigrated Biden’s approach to this conflict. “[Putin] was going to be satisfied with a piece and now he sees the weakness, the incompetence, the stupidity of this administration,” Trump said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1496696062857433094?s=20&t=gnoqk70sFo4syH6mZZQjcQ">recent Fox News appearance</a>.</p>
<p>As Russian aggression has intensified, a small wing of the Republican Party — including members of the Freedom Caucus — has also pushed for an “America First” stance, which is seemingly less interested in American involvement in Ukraine. “We have no dog in the Ukraine fight. Not one American soldier should die there,” Rep. Paul Gosar, a Trump ally and member of this isolationist faction, previously said.</p>
<p>Taken together, these comments indicate that although many Republican leaders may be willing to back sanctions, they’re less likely to offer that same full-throated support to the Biden administration.</p>

<p>Zelensky released the embarrassing video himself Thursday on Instagram, writing: “The more such people in our country now, true friends of Ukraine, who support the struggle for freedom, the sooner it will be possible to stop Russia’s treacherous attack.”</p>
<p>“Sean popped up Thursday in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, after the Russians invaded … and Ukraine’s government says Penn is there to capture the conflict on film [for a documentary],” <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/02/24/sean-penn-ukraine-filming-documentary-russian-invasion/">TMZ</a> reported.</p>
<p>Zelensky reportedly never ordered a full mobilization of the Ukrainian military because he thought Putin was bluffing.</p>

<p><strong>Is Russia’s “special military operation” actually a smokescreen to target US bio-labs in Ukraine?</strong></p>
<p>Speculation on social media suggests Russian strikes on Ukrainian military installations could also include US bio-labs in the region, as the Russian government has for years accused the US of developing bio-weapons near its border.</p>
<p>The ulterior motive theory was put forth Thursday by Twitter user @WarClandestine, whose account was suspended soon thereafter. Fortunately, his thread was archived before the account was banned.</p>

<p>Evidently there are several US bio-labs in Ukraine under the auspices of the US State Department’s <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://ua.usembassy.gov/embassy/kyiv/sections-offices/defense-threat-reduction-office/biological-threat-reduction-program/" target="_blank">Biological Threat Reduction Program</a>, an initiative where the US partners with other countries “to counter the threat of outbreaks (deliberate, accidental, or natural) of the world’s most dangerous infectious diseases.”</p>

<p>“The Biological Threat Reduction Program’s priorities in Ukraine are to consolidate and secure pathogens and toxins of security concern and to continue to ensure Ukraine can detect and report outbreaks caused by dangerous pathogens before they pose security or stability threats,” the Ukrainian US Embassy’s <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://ua.usembassy.gov/embassy/kyiv/sections-offices/defense-threat-reduction-office/biological-threat-reduction-program/" target="_blank">website</a> states.</p>

<p>The program also led to the creation of two bio-labs in Kyiv and Odessa in 2019, areas that were recently attacked by Russia.</p>
<p>According to a map circulating online, US-backed bio-labs are also located in Vinnystia, Uzhgorod, Lviv, Kherson, Ternopil, and near Crimea and Luhansk.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Russia for years has raised concerns over the prospect the US is developing biological weapons along its border, with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev claiming last year there were clear signs dangerous pathogens at the labs could be used for military, or political purposes.</p>

<p>“You pay attention to the fact that in the world, more and more new biological laboratories under the control of the United States are growing by leaps and bounds. Moreover, by a strange coincidence – mainly at the Russian and Chinese borders,” Patrushev <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/4762137" target="_blank">said</a> last July, adding it’s unknown what really takes place within the walls of the facilities.</p>
<p>“We are told that peaceful sanitation stations operate near our borders, but for some reason, they are more reminiscent of Fort Detrick in Maryland, where Americans have been working in the field of military biology for decades. By the way, we should pay attention to the fact that outbreaks of diseases that are not typical for these regions are recorded in the surrounding areas,” Patrushev said.</p>
<p>Asked if he believed the US was developing bioweapons at the labs, Patrushev said, “We have good reason to believe that this is the case.”</p>
<p>“Not a day goes by at the headquarters of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague that the Americans and their allies do not come forward with another chapter of the anti-Russian chemical dossier.”</p>
<p>As early as last October, China and Russia also jointly <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/3151668/china-russia-ask-un-check-biological-warfare-capability-us-and" target="_blank">called on the UN to monitor the US’ possible development of bio-weapons</a>, releasing a statement saying, “in light of rapid advances in the field of science and technology with dual-use capabilities, the risk of biological agents being used as weapons has increased.”</p>
<p>“In this context [China and Russia] would like to call for attention that the United States’ and its allies’ overseas military biological activities (over 200 US biological laboratories are deployed outside its national territory, which function in an opaque and non-transparent manner) cause serious concerns and questions among the international community over its compliance with the BWC,” the joint statement said.</p>
<p>“The two sides share the view that such activities pose serious risks for the national security of [Russia and China], and are detrimental to the security of relevant regions.”</p>
<p>Moreover, as @WarClandestine noted, the two nations have indirectly blamed the US for the Covid-19 outbreak, which seems to be the case as more evidence has emerged the NIH did in fact fund gain of function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology where the virus is suspected to have originated.</p>
<p>According to @WarClandestine, Putin’s use of the broad term “special military operation” and his vows to demilitarize and “denazify” Ukraine could be intentionally vague to obscure his true intention of taking out US bio-labs.</p>

General Flynn and Steve Bannon Blast Biden Over Russia’s Ukraine Invasion

<p><strong>Former Trump National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn and former Trump advisor Steve Bannon both tore into Joe Biden on Thursday following Russia’s military advancement on Ukraine.</strong></p>
<p>An optimistic Bannon thinks Biden will be impeached when Republicans have a majority in the House and Senate after the 2022 midterm elections.</p>
<p>Once that happens, Bannon says, “We’re going to get into every detail of every penny his family stole out of there from the Ukrainian people, from the kleptocrats in Ukraine that were his partners. We’re going to get to every penny of everything the Clintons and Biden and his corrupt Democrats have skimmed off the top.”</p>
<p>Regarding Russia’s military strikes on Ukraine, Bannon asked, “Where is the tough talk? Tough-talking Joe. They called your bluff dude.”</p>
<p>The Trump confidant continued, noting Putin’s acknowledgment of Ukraine being corrupted and looted by the Clintons and Bidens just as they have done in Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti.</p>
<p>Bannon wondered, “Where is tough-talking Joe Biden? Is Hunter over there today? Is Hunter over there with his business partners, sitting there with a Ukraine flag? Where is Hunter? Is he in his art gallery? Is he with more strippers? Is he smoking more crack?”</p>
<p>Meanwhile, former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn published a written statement Thursday, writing, “With the price of oil pushing above $100 per barrel, the U.S. Stock market opening with heavy losses, more global economic challenges looming, the real potential for significant loss of life, and the international community in complete disarray with feeble attempts to condemn what was totally avoidable, we face the onset of another very grave and historic period of tension between competing ideologies and worse, the onset of WWIII.”</p>
<p>Flynn claimed the “invasion” was avoidable, explaining, “President Biden and his failed foreign policy team set the table and sent the invitation and President Putin came and spoiled the dinner party.”</p>

<p>The general acknowledged, “there are fault lines on both sides,” before adding, “but, we must pray that those affected without an ability to decide their fate, are able to survive this extraordinary period of world history.”</p>
<p>There will be military members and civilians killed and wounded, but we must pray the scope of the war is limited, Flynn wrote.</p>
<p>The letter questions the Biden administration’s decision to shut down the Keystone pipeline and America’s energy independence while enabling Russia and Germany to reopen the Nordstream pipeline.</p>
<p>“Let us not forget the Afghanistan disaster, the myriad lies about COVID, a certain Biden-owned laptop, and a fraudulent presidential election that has massive amounts of evidence coming out daily…all while China gets a pass,” Flynn noted, citing these issues as reasons Americans distrust their government.</p>
<p>He added, “President Putin calculated this strategic, historic, and geographic play and made the decision to move, and he did. All that stated above, there will never be justification for this invasion or any other form of invasion. However, never forget that war results when diplomacy fails.”</p>
<p>“May God watch over and protect those in harm’s way and may God continue to bless and protect the United States of America,” Flynn concluded the statement.</p>

<p><strong>Russia has launched a full-scale ‘shock and awe’ military operation against Ukraine only days after it supported the independence of two eastern breakaway regions of the country.</strong></p>
<p>In only a few short hours, Russia took out all of Ukraine’s air defense systems, leading to Russian air superiority over the country.</p>
<p>It’s believed that Russia targeted Ukraine’s command and military infrastructure to neutralize its response against the breakaway regions.</p>

<p>President Donald Trump presided over the fastest vaccine development process in history, leading to abundant, free vaccines in the US by the spring of 2021. Although the mRNA Covid-19 vaccines haven’t been able to stop transmission of the virus, they have been highly effective against hospitalization and death, saving <a href="https://www.vox.com/22894978/covid-19-vaccine-lives-saved-deaths-avoided-omicron-chart">hundreds of thousands</a> of lives and rendering the majority of new Covid-19 deaths preventable.</p>
<p>Trump has received <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2021/12/20/trump-received-vaccine-booster-shot-525748">three doses</a> of the vaccine. But many of his most dedicated supporters have refused, and many have died as a result. Why? Obvious culprits include misinformation on social media and Fox News and the election of Joe Biden, which placed a Democrat at the top of the US government throughout the vaccine distribution period. But if you look closely at the data, you’ll see that vaccine-hesitant conservatives largely made up their mind well before the vaccines were available and before Donald Trump lost the 2020 election.</p>
<p>To understand why, I took a deep dive into the data, interviewed researchers, and spoke to people who lost loved ones to preventable severe Covid-19 infections. What I found is a stark cautionary tale for the country and for Republican political elites. Partisan polarization takes on a life of its own; once set into motion it’s nearly impossible to stop, even when the fallout is immense and irreparable.</p>

<p><strong>Even Ilhan Omar blasted journalists for exploiting the doxxing of Freedom Convoy supporters after the CBC and other media outlets began to harass people on the hacked list.</strong></p>
<p>On Sunday, crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo was hacked, revealing the names of 90,000 donors who had given funds to the Canadian truckers.</p>
<p>CBC immediately seized upon the hack, using the stolen data to contact people and ask them about why they donated to a cause which has been demonized as an extremist movement by the Canadian government.</p>
<p>The Washington Post is also contacting people who gave as little as $40 dollars to ask them why they donated.</p>

<p>Fox News also <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/ilhan-omar-canadian-freedom-convoy-donors">reported</a> on the Post publishing a “lengthy thread singling out the biggest donor and a map showing where the donations came from in the U.S.”</p>
<p>The Ottawa Citizen subsequently published an article which showcased a cafe owner who faced violent intimidation and threats to smash up her business over a $250 donation to the Freedom Convoy.</p>

<p>The article made certain to imply that the cafe owner was at fault, asserting that she regretted her donation.</p>
<p>This prompted far-left Squad member Ilhan Omar to weigh in with a surprising condemnation of Ottawa Citizen editor Alison Mah.</p>
<p>“I fail to see why any journalist felt the need to report on a shop owner making such a[n] insignificant donation rather than to get them harassed,” Omar tweeted. “It’s unconscionable and journalists need to do better.”</p>

<p>Meanwhile, an individual calling himself Aubrey Cottle has taken credit for the GiveSendGo hack, calling himself a “famous fucking cyber-terrorist” during an unhinged rant.</p>
<p>Despite posting innumerable videos bragging of his criminal behavior, <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@kirtaner">Tik Tok</a>, notorious for its censorship of political speech, has failed to take any action against Cottle’s channel.</p>
