<p>The diabolical lust for human blood is still palpitating amongst the devil worshippers in Washington. The Obama administration just donated $1 Million of taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood. Obama is doing this because he wants more children murdered and more baby organs sold. Obama is not incompetent; he loves death. Here is <a href="http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2015/September/P-Parenthood-Awarded-1M-in-Obamacare-Grants/" target="_blank">the report:</a></p>

<p>The Obama administration is giving Planned Parenthood $1 million in grants through Obamacare to help promote the law to its patients.</p>
<p>Republicans blasted the move, which comes even as Congress prepares to investigate the growing scandal of harvesting and selling baby body parts at Planned Parenthood clinics.</p>
<p>Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn., a nurse for more than 40 years and member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, said the new funding is shocking in light of the scandal.</p>
<p>“This is unconscionable. A growing body of evidence suggests that Planned Parenthood broke federal law and now the Obama administration is thumbing its nose at Congress and taxpayers by using this backdoor maneuver to boost funding for the scandal-ridden abortion giant,” she said.</p>
<p>Next week, the House Judiciary Committee begins hearings surrounding the evidence presented by a series of undercover videos.</p>
<p>They show Planned Parenthood executives discussing prices and methods for obtaining baby body parts.</p>
<p>Two other committees will also hold hearings this month.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, a new study by the Media Research Center shows the network news cares more about panda babies than human babies.</p>
<p>In a three-week period in August, ABC News, NBC News, and CBS News spent 29 minutes talking about the pandas born at the National Zoo that month.</p>
<p>They spent only 24 minutes on the Planned Parenthood scandal in the seven weeks after the story broke.</p>
<p>Anchors even called pre-born pandas “babies,” while referring to pre-born humans as “fetal tissue.”</p>

<p>Thirty North Carolina magistrates in North Carolina are all refusing to conduct homosexual “marriages.” According to <a href="http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2015/September/30--NC-Magistrates-Refuse-Gay-Weddings---Legally/" target="_blank">the report:</a></p>
<blockquote>
<p>More than 30 magistrates in North Carolina have refused to perform weddings. But thanks to a new state law, they were able to do so legally.</p>
<p>Right after the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in June, the state passed a law allowing officials to opt out of performing all marriages.</p>
<p>The law exempts court officials with a “sincerely held religious objection” and is designed for those opposing gay marriage.</p>
<p>The law’s original sponsor, Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger, said it’s probably preventing situations like the one in Kentucky.</p>
<p>“It’s keeping folks from having to choose between their job and their religious beliefs. I think that’s important,” he said.</p>
<p>Berger said so far the law hasn’t caused any problems.</p>
<p>“I think the law is working very well,” he said.</p>
<p>Only Utah has a similar law.</p>

<p>Kim Davis has been jailed by the American government for refusing to submit to the homosexual agenda. This only shows that the time is now coming when Christians are going to have to fight. The time is now coming when God is using persecution to sift out the saints from the hirelings. Carla Fiorina, the “conservative” who so many are praising, has proven herself to be a Jezebel, slamming Kim Davis for her righteous decision, saying:</p>

<p><span class="s1">This Christian woman refused to submit to the delusions of the sodomites, and now she is behind bars. Now can she hold up the title of St. Paul, <i>a prisoner of Christ Jesus</i> (Philemon 1:1), and now must we say with St. Paul, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” (Hebrews 13:3)</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Indeed, let us remember this woman; let our minds be aware of her noble actions of sacrifice. The heathens told her to offer her soul for the gain of her occupation, but she instead offered <i>the sacrifices of righteousness</i> (Psalm 4:5). She affronted the invasion of Sodom, and resisted with all tenacity the horrid onslaught of the reprobate. She could have saved her own self, she could have kept her attachment to her money, and could have <i>looked back</i> like Lot’s wife (Genesis 19:26); but instead she followed the words of Christ:</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. (Luke 17:32-33)</span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">She did not save herself, and even when the acolytes of antichrist offered her the deal of allowing her employees to give the licenses to the sodomites for her release, she refused. Surely a sacrifice cannot be done without endurance, without losing something dear to our fleshy hearts. Solomon tells us, “To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” (Proverbs 21:3) Because a righteous action requires far more tenacity and valor than sacrificing animals, and thus the offering of self and carnal attachments is of the greatest sacrifice. St. Odo of Cluny wrote that “it is almost always happens that when anything pleasing is offered to God, it is carried with difficulty.” (1) To refuse to submit to the sodomites, at the cost of one’s freedom, most definitely is a sacrifice.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Look to the beautiful pillars of the Faith — how they raise high the virtues of Heaven! —; gaze with the eyes of your souls, to the basins of the Faith — how they shield against the arrows of the devil! —; look to the holy saints of Christendom, and you will see resistance against the tyranny of abysmal demons who now possess the enemies of the Cross. Resistance against evil is of the essence of the Faith. As Benjamin Franklin said:</span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Moses standing on the shore, and extending His Hand over the sea, thereby causing the same to overwhelm Pharaoh who is sitting in an open Chariot, a crown on His Head and a sword in His Hand. Rays from the Pillar of Fire in the clouds reaching to Moses, to express that he acts by command of the Deity. Motto, Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.</span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Read the life of the saints and you will see rebellion against the tyrant Satan. The devils take possession of the souls of men, and through them they attack the saints. And so God uses His saints, and the one who are <i>joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him</i> (1 Corinthians 6:17), to fight those being used as instruments for the demonic.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Throughout sacred history this can be witnessed; through time did the sons of light battle against the spawn of darkness. In Maccabees it says: “Elijah, for that he was exceeding zealous for the Law, was taken up into heaven.” (1 Maccabees 2:58) All those who have zeal, will be united with God, and will come “to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem” (Hebrews 12:22). <span class="Apple-converted-space">   </span></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Before the righteous Maccabeans revolted against pagan tyranny, the traitorous Jews “built a gymnasium in Jerusalem according to the manner of the Gentiles.” (1 Maccabees 1:14) And what would be included in this manners? No one can deny that it would be homosexuality. The Jews “sold themselves to do evil.” (1 Maccabees 1:15) Homosexuality<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> is definitely amongst the most evilest of things. The gymnasium was a place where the pagans would exalt the male body to not only partake in homosexual attraction, but to as well honor the pagan gods, (2) by whom homosexuality was justified. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">It was therefore not against mere tyranny that Judas Maccabees revolted, but homosexual tyranny. Paganism and homosexuality are very much intricate and interconnected. They are both part of antichrist doctrine. St. Paul tells us that those who “changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man” (Romans 1:23), also<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>“exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.” (Romans 1:26)</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Since God is the Creator of nature, those who hate Him will inevitably go against nature, and try to redefine reality itself. To equate homosexuality as the same as love between a man and a woman; to call a man a woman and a woman a man, is to attempt to redefine nature, and those who want to redefine reality will also try to redefine life, and to thus dictate who is worthy of living and who of dying in their sight. This is why there are so many homosexual serial killers, and why when homosexuality and perversion sink their claws into the fabric of society, they will commence tyranny against those who live for “the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) The pagan sodomites invaded Judea and wanted to uproot the Faith from the land, and against this despotism did Judas Maccabees revolt. In the words of the Scripture:</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And he extended the glory of his people,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And put on a breastplate as a giant,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And girt on his weapons of war.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">He set battles in array,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">He protected the army with the sword,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And he was like a lion in his deeds:</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And as a lion’s whelp roaring for prey</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">He pursued the lawless, seeking them out,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And burnt up those that troubled his people.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And the lawless lost heart for fear of him,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And all workers of lawlessness were sore troubled,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And deliverance prospered in his hand.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And he angered many kings,</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And made Jacob glad with his acts.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And his memorial is blessed for ever. “ (1 Maccabees 3-7)</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And what must Christians do against such a repulsive oppression and tyranny, but revolt, if the sodomites continue their onslaughts? In the most militant words of the holy Apostles: “We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29) When the pagans wanted to afflict the Hebrews as they were trying to rebuild the Temple, the prophet Nehemiah armed his people and told them:</span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses. (Nehemiah 4:14)</span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">In Christianity, mysticism and war become one. The prophet tells us to <i>remember the Lord,</i> this is contemplation; he tells us to <i>fight for your brethren,</i> this is war. The unity between contemplation and militancy is the essence of the Faith; to remember God in perpetual awareness, and being <i>joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him,</i> becoming the weapon of God and an advancer of His justice, praying to God with Maccabees, “Strike them down with the sword of those who love thee”<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> (1 Maccabees 4:33). The warrior strikes the wicked, but it is God Who strikes through the arms of His servant.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">This is theosis and the manifestation of love. Judas Maccabees reached theosis because of his zeal, being one with God and thus being the instrument of the divine justice. One becomes unified with God through love, for having love, by laying down one’s life for the brethren (which is the greatest love), one unites with Love — that is, God. And so Maccabees declares, “Fight this day for your brethren.” (1 Maccabees 5:33) And in another place he says, “let us die manfully for our brethren’s sake” (Maccabees 9:10). Christ told St. Peter, “strengthen your brethren.” (Luke 22:32) And to strengthen the brethren is to fortify their hearts, and even to fight for them against the tyrants.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> St. Gregory VII, referencing this very verse, wrote:</span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">And because our fathers, in whose footsteps we, though unworthy, desire to walk, often went to those regions for the strengthening of the Catholic faith, we also, aided by the prayers of all Christian men, are under compulsion to go over there for the same faith and for the defense of Christians — provided that the way shall be opened with Christ as our guide — for the way of man is not in his own hand, and the steps of a man are ordered by the Lord. (3)</span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">The command of Christ to <i>strengthen the brethren</i> is applied to warfare against the forces of darkness in the cosmic war between good and evil. Bishop Bonizo of Sutri, writing on the valorous feats of the crusader, Herlembald, praised his protecting of the brethren through faith and the sword:</span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">He realized that there was nothing more important for him to do than to take up arms like the mighty Judas to defend himself and the people of God who wished to fight for righteousness. (4)</span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">Holiness does not remain idle, it expands, and in expanding, it destroys evil. Goodness does not remain static, it conquers. Only God is good, and so to expand goodness is to be united with God, and to flood the world with His ever glorious light. To shine the candle of zeal is to dissipate the darkness, and thus to be a witness of God is to scatter the wicked. St. Chrysostom said that Christ “hath made us His own body”. (5)  Thus when Christendom, under the governance of the divine sword, slays the wicked tyrants and obliterates the enemies of God, it is Christ Who destroys them through His beloved children.</span></p>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">You may say that to affirm that the sodomites and their advancers deserve destruction is against Christian meekness. But those who bring up such objections do not understand the Christian concept of being meek. In the words of Bishop Fulton Sheen:</span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">The meek person is not one who refuses to fight, nor someone who will never become angry. A meek person is someone who will never do one thing: he will never fight when his conceit is attacked, but only when a principle is at stake. And there is the keynote to the difference of the anger of the violent and the anger of the meek person. (6) </span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p3">It is the homosexual who is violent; it is these sodomites who ceaselessly make war upon us and the holy laws. Thus, as Christ was angry when He saw His House being harloted, and as Moses was enraged when he saw God mocked by the people and their calf idol, Christians must get angry against the homosexuals and their wickedness.</p>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">The Christian does not revolt in anger for the sake of the ego, but rather for the denial of ego and self. The maliciousness of the enemy is all the result of his indulgence in the flesh; he is drunk off his own ego. But the Christian, not remembering self, but being in God, wars against the slaves of the flesh. St. John of Damascus wrote that the man who turned their attachment from God and became attached to the things of the flesh, “was also to transfer his anger from the real enemy of his salvation to his own kind.” (7)  Thus those who are slaves to ego, hate their fellow man, despise humanity and war against mankind. Amongst these are the sodomites who wish to abolish marriage, and abolish the order by which God has man to be fruitful and multiply.</span></p>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">Truly it is the sodomites who <i>wrestle against flesh and blood</i> (Ephesians 6:12), and it is the Christians who war “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) The sodomites hate humanity, and so to fight them, is to fight against the enemies of mankind, and for the triumph of the Spirit. The Scripture says:</span></p>
<blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God. (Psalm 9:17)</span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">Notice that it does not refer to individuals, but to nations. And I say to you, O Christians, will you allow your nation to be perverted by the haters of God? </span></p>
<blockquote>
<p><span id="en-KJV-16261" class="text Ps-139-21">Do not I hate them, O <span class="small-caps">Lord</span>, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? </span><span id="en-KJV-16262" class="text Ps-139-22">I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies. (Psalm 139:21-22) </span></p>
</blockquote>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">Will you allow civilization to be swallowed up by these Canaanites, who in antiquity participated in all their abominations? Did not Joshua destroy them? Where, then, is our Joshua? The warriors of Heaven “through faith subdued kingdoms” (Hebrews 11:33), and Joshua was amongst those warriors, subduing the kingdoms of the Canaanites, which were filled with wickedness and homosexuality. The poor sons of Abraham, abandoned by all men, subdued such violent and vicious nations. And where are you, O Christendom, to subdue the savage invaders, who “come unto us in fulness of insolence and lawlessness” (1 Maccabees 3:20)? Let the nation say with Maccabees, “we fight for our lives and our laws.” (1 Maccabees 1:21)<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> Not secular laws, but the laws of Heaven, against which no enemy can prevail. Let the governments take up the Holy Cross, and <i>destroy the works of the devil.</i> (1 John 3:8) Let it destroy the advancers of antichrist, and utterly annihilate the acolytes of the evil doctrines of Sodom. Christus vincit!</span></p>

<p>ISIS has recently declared a new set of rules for Christians: if you say the name of Christ out loud, you will be killed. The set of rules also outlaws the displaying of Crosses and the building of churches. According to <a href="http://www.gospelherald.com/articles/57629/20150904/isis-issues-list-of-11-rules-for-christians-living-in-captured-syrian-town-threaten-death-to-those-caught-praying-out-loud-to-jesus-christ.htm" target="_blank">the report:</a></p>

<p>The Islamic State has issued a “safety contract” for Christians living in Qaryatian, Syria comprised of 11 specific commandments, including one which prohibits praying out loud to Jesus Christ under penalty of death. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Christians in the captured town will have to pay the jizyah or jizya tax imposed on non-Muslims, in addition to the other commandments issued by the extremist group’s leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.</p>
<p>The watchdog group listed the 11 stipulations, which prohibit: the establishment of churches, the displaying of crosses, making Muslims hear Christian prayers or rituals of worship, the hiding of spies, offending Islamic religious beliefs, the carrying of weapons, the sale of pork or wine to Muslims, and failing to dress modestly. The list of rules concluded, “If they comply with these conditions, so they have are safe in their lands, money and souls, and they are not going to pay one-tenth except they bring money to trade from outside the IS territories not oppressor nor oppressed. None of them is going to be punished under a sin committed by another else of them. In case they violate the conditions of this writ, then ‘Islamic State’ is going to deal with them as they deal with people of war (warriors).”</p>

<p>Islam is simply a continuation of the heretical controversies that have been taking place since our holy Faith’s commencement.</p>
<p>Islam is a heresy, and not only that, it is an apostate church. In its founding it harloted itself with some of the most major heretical beliefs the Church has ever faced. It is Arianism, for it denies the divinity of Christ; it is Nestorianism, for it denies the Incarnation and rejects that the Word became flesh; it is Pelagianism, for it rejects original sin; and it has a trace of gnosticism, in that it affirms that there was no crucifixion of Jesus, but that people only imagined or thought they saw him crucified. In other words, it is the ultimate whore of a religion.</p>
<p>Now, in regards to the story of the Muslim youths desecrating the statue of the Virgin Mary, we must focus on two heresies that are within Islam’s theological foundation: Nestorianism and Iconoclasm.</p>
<p>Mary is called by both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches theotokos- Mother of God. She was given this title in 451 at the Council of Chalcedon as a response against the Nestorian heresy, founded by the vile Nestorios. Nestorianism in summary falsely said that Jesus was a man who became God upon his conception, and so they claimed that Mary was Christotokos- Mother of Christ.</p>
<p>Nestorianism held that the Baby Jesus could not have been God, since it was, to their heretical minds, impossible that God could ever become a baby.</p>
<p>Nestorius’ most fanatic follower, Anastasius, viciously said that Mary cannot be called Theotokos, or the Mother of God, because there was no way God could be born of a woman:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Let no one call Mary Theotokos: for Mary was but a woman; and it is impossible that God should be born of a woman. (In Socrates, 7.32)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>While it is objectively true that Mary is Jesus’ Mother, Chrsitians did not want to emphasize Jesus’ humanity to the detriment of His divinity. Hence, Mary has since been called Mother of God so that His divinity is never forgotten or underemphasized.</p>
<p>Muslims reject the Incarnation, or the idea that God became man. This rejection is the foundation of all their other heretical beliefs, and it would inevitably lead them to utterly refuse to call Mary the Mother of God, because God (in their minds) would never deign to become human and be born of a woman.</p>
<p>Islam’s rejection of Marian veneration is found in the Koran, where Jesus (called Isa) tells Allah that he never told His followers to worship His mother:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>And when Allah will say: O Isa son of Mary! did you say to men, Take me and my mother for two gods besides Allah (?) (Koran 5:116)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The verse is accusing Christians of worshiping Christ and His mother, Mary. This is the same accusation many Protestants make against Catholics, that they somehow make Mary a deity after Christ.</p>
<p>This is why we affirm that Muslims must be included in the list of so-called “pre-Reformation Protestants.” These are protestants who existed prior to the Reformation, and who, like Luther and his associates, protested against Catholic doctrines.</p>
<p>Today, these pre-Reformation protestants are frequently listed as: the Donatists, the Hussites, the Cathars, Bogomils, the Waldensians, the Lombards, John Wycliffe (for the heresies of Wycliffe, <a href="http://shoebat.com/2014/11/11/john-wycliffe-evil-heretic-john-wycliffe-exposed-2/" target="_blank">click here</a>) and a plethora of other groups.</p>
<p><strong>While we agree that these sects were most definitely protestant, we believe that there is one group missing in the list: the Muslims.<br /></strong></p>
<p>The Muslims are emphatically pre-Reformation protestants, and Muhammad most definitely was a pre-Reformation reformer, whose goal was to reform Christianity and restore what he believed was the true religion of Christ.</p>

<p>Islam came to omit several doctrines of the Catholic Church: the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, the Eucharist, the divinity of Christ, the sonship of Christ, Christian iconography, and the veneration to saints, including the Virgin Mary. All of these doctrines the Catholic Church defended and proclaimed, and it was Muhammad who wanted to make a reformation in order to do away with these beliefs and rites.</p>
<p>The hatred for the Eucharist by Muslims was illustrated by the massacre done in the Middle Ages by the Egytpian and the Kwarizimian Muslims. In 1244 the Khwarizmians and the Egyptians vanquished a Christian army in Gaza, massacring five thousand, including the Master of the Templars and the Archbishop of Tyre. They seized priests and as they stabbed them to death around the altars, they screamed with demonic madness and blasphemy, “let us pour their blood on the place where they poured out wine in commemoration of their crucified God.”</p>
<p>Why such mockery for the sacrament of the wine? This could have only stemmed from a hatred of the Eucharist.</p>
<p>If Protestants today are willing to consider the Cathars, who rejected the Crucifixion, and John Wyclife, who believed that God could obey the devil, as pre-Reformation protestants, regardless of how heretical they were, then they must also consider the Muslims, who are just as heretical, and just as spiteful of the Catholic Church, to be pre-Reformation protestants.</p>
<p>Both Protestantism and Islam wish to see the destruction of the Vatican, and both Muslims and many Protestants are iconoclasts.</p>

<p>Muslims do not talk of destroying Calvary Chapel, or Salt Lake City, or Forsquare Church: the only Church they universally ever speak of collectively destroying is the Vatican, or the Roman Catholic Church.</p>

<p>The desire to invade Rome is still throbbing like a beating heart; it is alive and remains vibrant like a torrent within the very soul of the Muslim world. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most influential Sunni scholar today, made the prediction in 2002 that the Muslims will soon rise and invade Rome, making references to the declaration of Muhammad himself:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>He [Muhammad] answered: “The city of Hirqil [Emperor Heraclius, that is, Constantinople] will be conquered first” … Romiyya is the city called today Rome, the capital of Italy. The city of Hirquil was conquered by the young 23-year old Ottoman [sultan] Muhammad bin Morad, known in history as Mohammad the Conquerer, in 1453 [CE]. The other city, Romiyya, remains, and we hope and believe [that it too will be conquered]. This means that Islam will return to Europe as a conquerer and victor, after being expelled from its twice-once from the South, from Adalusia, and a second time from the East, when it knocked several times on the door of Athens.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Anti-Catholic violence, just as in Islam, was quite intense within Reformation history. The Huguenots, who were French Calvinists, like the Muslims, destroyed churches and private houses. The Huguenots, everywhere they overran, murdered any priest they found. In the province of Dauphiny alone, they slaughtered two hundred and fifty-six priests. (See Belloc, How the Reformation Happened, ch. iv, pp. 164-5; ch. v, p. 187; ch. vi, p. 228)</p>
<p>Now, let us delve into the history of Iconoclasm to fully understand the heresy that fuels Islam to have such violent hatred against Christian images and icons.</p>
<p><strong>THE POWER AND TYRANNY OF ICONOCLASM IN THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE<br /></strong></p>
<p>Iconoclasm was greatly propagated by the 9th century monk, Sabbatios. He maliciously hated the emperor, Leo V (who was surnamed “the Armenian) for his reverence to Christian icons. Sabbatios, with vitriol, said that the emperor was “addicted to idols”, and expressed his spite at how Leo V piously obeyed the patriarch of Constantinople, Tarasios, and viciously called him “taraxios” or “trouble maker.”</p>

<p>After Tarasios passed away, he was replaced by one Nikephoros who began to warn that soon Leo V would begin to enforce iconoclasm and persecute the Church. The quarrelsome monk also had nothing but hatred for the emperor’s wife, Eirene, and scoffingly named her, “panther” and “folly.” He even threatened that the emperor would lose his life if he did not abide by his heresy and throw away all of the Christian icons.</p>

<p>Sabbatios soon had a meeting with one Theodotus Melissenos, a fanatic proponent of iconoclasm, who for a long time kept his heretical sentiments to himself, and was always waiting for the opportunity to vomit them out in public. He told the monk to affirm to the emperor that he must adopt the iconoclasm of the past emperor, Leo the Isaurian — who enforced iconoclasm and persecuted the Orthodox–and destroy all of the icons of the Church:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Tomorrow night the emperor will come to you in ordinary clothing, to ask about the faith and other pressing matters. For your part, you are to remember to threaten him with the imminent loss of his life and his fall from the throne, unless he choose of his own free will to embrace the dogma of the emperor Leo the Isaurian and to cast out the idols… from the the churches of God. Nor must you forget to promise him that, if he adopts the way of life you suggest, he will enjoy a long life and a fortunate reign for many years. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 2.2, trans. Wortley)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>When Sabbatios, the iconoclast monk, approached the emperor (who was wearing civilian clothing) he told him, as though it was revealed to him by divine inspiration,</p>
<blockquote>
<p>What you are doing is not sensible, O emperor, deceiving us with private citizens’ clothes and concealing the emperor hidden within them. Do what you will, the grace of the divine Spirit has not allowed us to be outsmarted by you any longer. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 2.2)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>When the emperor heard this he was baffled at how the monk could easily identify him regardless of his humble clothing, and thought that he was some sort of holy man, and at that point, the iconoclast obtained their influence, and thus gained the power they were seeking. Leo V made himself ready to obey whatever the monk commanded of him, and so decreed that the sacred icons would be taken down.</p>
<p>The emperor then presented a document, that explained the doctrine of iconoclasm, to the leading citizens of Constantinople, and urged them to sign it. Many signed it willingly, while those who refused were forced to write their names on it. The patriarch Nikephoros, who forewarned of this tyranny beforehand, was now presented with the document, and he, like a good soldier, refused to sign it and utterly reject it’s teachings. He was seized and exiled to Prokonnesos.</p>

<p>A monastic named Theophanes the Confessor, of the monastery of Agros, accompanied Nikephoros with incense and candlelights, alongside many others who did not bow the knee before the idol of iconoclasm, and in his banishment he died as a martyr.</p>
<p>While the patriarch Nikephoros was in exile, he was replaced by Theodotus Melissenos, who took the seat illegitimately and proclaimed the heresy of iconoclasm out in the open. Not only this, but he used his position to execute harsh violence on those who opposed iconoclasm, having people’s feet and hands amputated, and even their private parts cut off, and then the severed parts were to be hung along the main thoroughfare for all to see. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 2.2-3) This is the same sort of violence Muslims have been imposing on Christians, who they consider idolaters, for centuries. For in the Koran it reads:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>The punishment of anyone who fights against Allah and His apostle and do mischief in the land is to be killed or crucified or to have their hands and feet [amputated] from opposite ends or be banished from the land. (Quran: The table spread)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>A man was then chosen to be the iconoclast agent, who would further influence the emperor to advance iconoclasm. In one particular mass there was a reading from the Book of Isaiah when the prophet said:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>To whom will ye liken the Lord? Or with what will ye compass him? Was it not the carpenter who made the image, the goldsmith who melted gold and gilded it, and made a likeness of himself</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The iconoclast agent then used this verse to justify iconoclasm, and whispered into the ear of the emperor these words:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Give understanding to what is said [here], oh emperor, and do not let the truth elude you. Embrace the pattern of devotion which the prophet proposes to you. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 2.4)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>With this pernicious influence, which flowed like a sweet potion tainted with venom, the emperor intensified the persecution over those who revered the icons. The people who accepted iconoclasm, lived quiet and peaceful lives and were not bothered, but those who combated the doctrine, and struggled with Satan and his deception, were received with threats and afflictions. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 2.4)</p>
<p><strong>THE TYRANNY OF THE ICONOCLAST EMPEROR, THEOPHILOS<br /></strong></p>

<p>What is interesting is that the emperor Michael II was both an iconoclast and a judaizer, and his son, Theophilos, following his father, fanatically subscribed to iconoclasm. Throughout his reign, Theophilos would afflict and persecute Orthodox Christians who revered the icons, never permitting them a moment of peace, or in the words of Skylitzes,</p>
<p>“he relentlessly afflicted the pious and all holy people, allowing them not a moment of calm throughout his reign.” (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.3)</p>
<p>Continuing the persecution of his judaizing father, Theophilos decreed that no paintings of saints could be allowed to have the words “saint” or “holy” on them, since to the tyrant, only God deserved such titles.</p>
<p>With such a measure it was evident that Theophilus did not follow Orthodox theology, for if a Christian who was used by God for many noble and meritorious works could not be called holy, then he should have been angry at God for calling His priests “gods” in the Old Testament:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High (Psalm 82:6)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>If calling Mary or one of the prophets or apostles “holy” is blasphemy because the title only belongs to God and hence it is idolatry, then by this logic God Himself is an idolater because He called human beings “gods,” (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10) not in the sense that they were actually divine, but that they were God’s representatives on earth.</p>
<p>Concordantly, saints who are given the title of “holy,” are done so in accordance with the definition of holy, in that they are used by God for a specific purpose.</p>
<p>Theophilos would soon utterly abolish icons and the painting of icons, and all of the Christian images were subsequently, and forcefully, removed, and disturbingly replaced with depictions of animals, wild beasts and birds.</p>
<p>This only was a reflection of the beastly and, really, pagan mindset of the tyrant. Where did the icons go? They were thrown into the local market places where they were defaced and scoffingly, and abominably, desecrated and abused by the godless mobs. These mobs were of the same diabolical spirit as those very Muslim teenagers who desecrated the statue of the Virgin Mary in Italy.</p>
<p>After the forceful removal of the icons, came the forceful removal of the Orthodox. The prisons, instead of being filled with just criminals, were now being flooded with monks, bishops, and laymen who resisted the heretical devils and chose not to reject the holy icons.</p>
<p>The Orthodox were violently seized and banished to the desolate wilderness, left to the cruel dictates of nature, where hunger and thirst reigned. Full of the bodies of martyrs were the mountains and caves, of those holy Christians who chose death rather then compliance with the tyrant.</p>
<p>The emperor Theophilos decreed that the cities block any monks from entering into their premises, and ordered that they be kept at a distance by any means. But these holy men, living the arduous lives of monastics, following their predecessor Elijah, who was driven into the desert by Jezebel, preferred death than apostasy. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>
<p>A group of very zealous monks, some of whom were a part of a monastic order called the <em>Abramites</em>, came before the emperor and, with zeal and blazing strength and dedication, exclaimed that monasticism was no recent invention, but was supported by the sayings of the holy fathers, Irenaeus, Dionysus the Great, and Hierotheos, and that their spiritual lives were there from the time of the ancient days of the Church.</p>
<p>The pious monks declared that Luke, the apostle, carved out an image of the Virgin Mary, and that Christ Himself left us an image of His face imprinted on a piece of linen “without the intervention of hands.” (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>
<p>After hearing such a speech, the emperor Theophilos had all of the monks tortured and beaten, and so severe were the blows that they teared extremely deep wounds into their flesh, and their bodies became as the Body of Christ when He was scourged.</p>
<p>The monks were then sent off into the wilderness, bearing their inflictions with all endurance, and exemplifying the greatest form of long-suffering. They kept on walking through the grueling land, until they reached the Church of the Forerunner (John the Baptist). They entered the sacred edifice, and from the suffering of their wounds, they died. (John Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>
<p>Another monk, whose heart was fortified by tenacious conviction, went right to the emperor’s face and withstood him with chastisement, and quoted to the tyrant the words of St. Paul:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>If any man preach unto you any other gospel than that which you received, let him be anathema. (Galatians 1:9)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Theophilos was ignited by rage at this man’s holy recitation, and so he had the monk brutally flogged. But he noticed that this monk’s zeal only increased when he was persecuted, and so he decided that he would beat his intellect.</p>
<p>The emperor chose one of his best theologians, Jannes, to debate the monk. This Jannes, while hating the sacred icons, was addicted to witchcraft, in particular a fashion of sorcery called lecanomancy in which the sorcerer throws precious stone or pieces of gold and silver into a basin filled with water, and then observes the patterns formed once the objects reach the bottom.</p>
<p>The monk broke through the bastion of Jannes’ sophisms and subtle arguments, not only with his own words, but with those of Scripture, and revealed how empty the cunning deceptions of the iconoclasts were. After the debate, the steadfast monk was given another beating, and banished into exile.</p>
<p>He would later take refuge with Iganatios the Great, and after giving several prophecies of future emperors, for it was said that he was blessed with the gift of prophecy, he died. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10; 5.3, see footnote 19 by Jean-Claude Chaynet on Lecanomancy)</p>

<p>The emperor Theophilos ordered that all of those who made paintings of Christ, under pain of death, were to spit on the very holy icons they painted.</p>
<p>Amongst the many painters who were arrested was a monk named Lazaros, and he was not planning on acquiescing to the demands of a heretic, and nor was it in his mind to spit upon an image of the One Who died for him. At first the tyrant tried to convince him to obey the order through flattery, but when that did not impact the mind of this monastic warrior, Theophilos, like a Muslim and a true heretic, resorted to violence.</p>

<p>So brutal and severe was the torture afficlted on this man’s body, that it was thought that he was not going to survive. They sent him out, thinking that with such a broken body he would never try to paint an icon of Christ. But soon his wealth recovered, and immediately he began to make a holy icon.</p>
<p>The emperor had him arrested, and the torturer placed burning hot coals on his hands, and so excruciating was the pain, that this poor saint of God lost consciousness and dropped to the floor half-dead. He was near his last breath, but the wife of the emperor took pity on him, and demanded her husband to have the holy monk spared. He was released from prison and placed in the Church of the Forerunner (John the Baptist). (John Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>
<p>The endurable athlete Lazaros painted an immaculate image of St. John the Baptist in the Church of the Forerunner, and it remained there for a long time, and those who were stricken with infirmities came to touch it and were healed.</p>
<p>The monk Lazaros was a likeness to John the Baptist: he confronted the tyrant, as the pious warrior confronted Herod; he lived in the state of hermitage, and John cried out from the wilderness, attired himself with the humblest clothing of goatskin; he suffered persecution and endured until the end, as the Baptist was thrown into prison for exposing the wickedness of the despot.</p>
<p>We must ask ourselves the question: how different were the iconoclasts from the Muslims who have been destroying Christian icons, and still continue to desecrate the icons till this day? There is no different: the antichrist spirit is the same, and the vehement malice against the icons is identical to the jihadis of today.</p>
<p><strong>THEOPHANES AND THEODORE — MARTYRS AGAINST ICONOCLASM<br /></strong></p>

<p>There were brothers very learned in the Scriptures, their names were Theophanes and Theodore, and their eruditeness in the holy Scriptures and the Faith manifested itself as light to the darkness of iconoclasm. The emperor Theophilos was stricken by this light, and he, uttering the vitriol of darkness, said to the the two brothers,</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Come on then, you accursed ones, by what sayings of scripture are you persuaded to worship the idols, and to persuade the innocent common people to do likewise? (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>But the two brothers did not fall in fear, or quiver in terror — no — instead they turned to the tyrant, and proclaimed,</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Let the mouth be dumb which speaks iniquity against God.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>After much struggle and debate, the emperor’s wrath could no longer be concealed, but compelled to be revealed by the light of truth that shined forth from the two saints. In his anger, the tyrant said:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>An emperor ought not to be subject to the insults of men like you</p>
</blockquote>
<p>He had the two brothers arrested and brought to the inner garden of the Lausiakos where they were heavily beaten with two hundred blows with the heftiest of rods. And then, to further the humiliation of the punishment, he had their foreheads tattooed with these mocking and scolding words:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>When all the world went running to that town where the all-holy feet of God the Word once stood t’ensure the safety of the world, in that most pious place these did appear who are an evil vessel of superstitious error.</p>
<p>Which superstitious men, achieving there with impious mind the deeds of unbelief most horrid, were expelled as apostates and exiles.</p>
<p>Thence they fled, sad refugees, unto the capital and seat of government — but did not leave aside their foolishness hence, indicted and condemned, an evil perpetrator of the image, they are banished once again.” (John Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>

<p>Does this remind us of the mocking which Christ endured? What scoffing, what deriding, and yet, it is the suffering of Christ, seen before our eyes in the person of His children who, being as innocent as doves, piously declare the words of truth without guile, and being as wise as serpents, strike, in the zeal of the Spirit, with the words of Orthodoxy at the vipers.</p>
<p>And after the holy brothers were marked with the lines of the scoffers, they were both executed, and crowned with a martyrs embellishment.</p>
<p>Not so long after, the emperor Theophilos arrested one Michael, a synkellos or episcopal vicar of the Church of the Holy City, and many other hermits and ascetics, and shut them up in prison, with the pernicious hope that by depriving them of their freedoms they would eventually acquiesce to the tyrant’s wicked demands. And for the rest of his life did this despotic sovereign ceaselessly subject them to irremediable afflictions. (John Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>
<p><strong>SAINT THEODORA AND END OF THE ICONOCLAST REIGN OF TERROR<br /></strong></p>

<p>When the tyrant Theophilos died, his son, Michael III, and his wife, Theodora, reigned. By the suggestion of some Orthodox holy men, she began to closely examine the heresy of iconoclasm that her husband so fanatically subscribed to. So many people within the government followed it, and even most of the senate, and the Church synod (including the patriarch) were iconoclasts. Soon a terrible illness struck the empress’ scholastic, Manuel, and as he lay bed-ridden, surrounded by monks, he said,</p>
<blockquote>
<p>And how can this be for me, godly fathers? My mental forces are all gone, my body is wasted away and emaciated. Here I lie, devoid of flesh, a mere skeleton; there is no difference between me and a corpse, except that I am breathing. What hope is there, what reason believe in my recovery and return to my former health?</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The monks took up his argument and responded:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>With God, all things are possible and there is nothing that is impossible. We proclaim the good news that you will live, provided that you endeavor to extinguish the conflagration the enemies of the icons have ignited when you recover your strength, and that you restore the sacred icons to the status they enjoyed in the time of our forefathers. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 5.2)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Manuel told the empress Theodora that she must overthrow iconoclasm and restore Orthodoxy, but she resisted, for she feared the multitude of iconoclasts and their reign of terror. But when Manuel insisted with ardency, she exclaimed:</p>

<p>O magister, my late husband, the emperor, a stickler for precision, never did a thing in all his life without careful examination of the matter. If this practice [of revering icons] were not forbidden in sacred laws, and the holy scriptures, he would not have have expelled it from the church. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 5.2)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Manuel wasted no time, he had to restore Orthodoxy and would not allow the fears of a woman to prevent that. He declared to her that if she did not drive out iconoclasm, that both her and her son would die. The threat enabled the empress to commit to her own desires, and that was that the blade of Orthodoxy be unleashed and vanquish the wiles and bastions of heresy that so plagued the empire.</p>
<p>She provided her full support in the ousting of iconoclasm, and summoned a meeting with the fathers of the synod and members of the senate, so that the iconoclasts and those who revered the icons could debate. After much fierce and zealous arguing, it was obvious as to who took the victory: the Orthodox.</p>
<p>After the debate, many of the monks, bishops, and senators who subscribed to iconoclasm threw away their heresy and adopted Orthodoxy, while those who remained within the heretical movement, were exiled. The wicked patriarch, who was responsible for the persecutions against the Orthodox, was ousted out of his seat and banished.</p>
<p>Once he was gone, he was replaced by the godly Methodios, on whose body one could still see the marks from the beatings he received from the iconoclasts.</p>

<p>As for Jannes, the theologian chosen by Theophilos to debate with sophisms against the Orthodox, he was shut up in a monastery, and in the monastery were icons of Jesus Christ, Mary His mother, and Michael the Archangel.</p>
<p>Jannes said that such icons are devoid of sight, and so he ordered his personal deacon to tear out the eyes of the sacred images. The empress Theodora heard of this, she was ignited by godly zeal and ordered that his eyes be removed. But a number of Orthodox holy men interceded for him, and begged the empress to show mercy, and so instead he was punished with 200 lashes. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 5.2-3)</p>
<p>Orthodoxy was restored, Lazaros painted a beautiful image of Christ. He was invited by the very empress, Theodora, who rescued him, and she asked him to pardon her husband, and to intercede for him. To this Lazaros replied:</p>

<p>O empress, God is not so unjust as to forget our love and our labour on his behalf, while holding in higher honour the hatred and the presumptuous folly of that man. (John Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 4.10)</p>

<p>But the iconoclast, led by their leader Jannes, never ceased in their onslaught against the Orthodox. They still raged against the icons, and devised all sorts of slanders and false accusations to frame the Orthodox patriarch Methodios with the attempt to reestablish iconoclasm.</p>
<p><strong>MICHAEL III AND THE REIGN OF ICONOCLAST TERROR<br /></strong></p>

<p>The emperor Michael III hated with great intensity the noble life of monasticism, and did not allow the monks to conduct their assemblies where men gathered together to conquer the passionate flames of violent desires.</p>
<p>They took a woman and payed her with much gold to denounce Methodios before the empress, and say that he had licentious relations with her. This accusation brought much fear to the Orthodox, seeing that they could become but a laughing stock before the heretical mobs.</p>
<p>Methodios was brought before a tribunal, amidst a crowd of iconoclasts who laughed and mocked him with scathing insults. Methodios ignored the mob, and in the presence of everyone, took off his garments and exposed his private parts to all, and he revealed that his genitals were atrophied by some infirmity that made him utterly incapable of copulating. The mob of heretics shut their mouths, and the Orthodox rejoiced. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 5.4)</p>
<p>The false accusers were about to be arrested and punished for false testimony, but Methodios, emulating Christ, expressed mercy for his enemies, and affirmed that their only punishment should be that every year they come to the Church of the All-pure Mother of God at Blachernae, and hear the anathemas against iconoclasm. This was done by the slanderers for the rest of their lives. (Skylitzes, Byzantine History, 5.4)</p>

<p>While many go against Constantine the Great, nobody reveals the evils of Constantine V. He shared beliefs akin to Nestorianism, an influence to Muhammad. He also was an iconoclast, or somebody who disdained the monastic life and despised any icons or paintings of Christ or Mary — since they saw this as idolatry. Islam embraces this doctrine whole heartedly. Like Muhammad, Constantine V “was deceived by wizardry, licentiousness,” and “summoning demons”. He would also be involved in making sacrifices of urine and dung, (Chron. Theophan. Annus Mundi 6232) a form of divination which Muhammad partook in, as we read in one Hadith.</p>
<p>One woman consumed some of Muhammad’s urine and he told her, “You will never complain of a stomach ache.” He did not order any of them to wash their mouths out nor did he forbid them to do it again. <p>Like Muslims, Constantine V would kill those who went against his heretical doctrine. (See Chron. Theophan. Annus Mundi 6256) Those who criticized the emperor’s apostasy would suffer the same fate as those who question Muhammad’s creed in Sharia code: death. The monk Andrew was whipped to death in the arena for accusing Constantine V of impiety. (Chron. Theophan. Annus Mundi 6253)</p>
<p>There was also the situation with the monk Stephen who, for praising the monastic life over the evils of politics, was bounded at his feet with a cord, and dragged to death on the street; his body was then torn to pieces and thrown into a pit. (Theophan. Chron. Annus Mundi 6257) Such a method of killing for the sake of heresy closely resembles what is done in the Muslims world today against Christians.</p>
<p>Constantine V ordered that one patriarch, also named Constantine, be beaten until he could no longer walk. He was made to sit down within a church–now a heretical sancturary–where he was told all of his “crimes”, he was then condemned and called “Skotipsis”, which means “Of darkened vision.” On the following day there was a horse race, and the persecuted patriarch was to be a part of the savage spectacle. He was spat on, his beard, head, and eyebrows were shaven, and he was made to put on silk and a sleeveless garment.</p>
<p>He was forced to mount on a donkey backwards and ride to the arena where he was beheaded. (Chron. Theophan. Annus Mundi 6259) The impious emperor savagely and sadistically killed many others. He had one Peter seized, dragged through the streets and then buried alive. He bound others in bags from which they could not escape, and thrown into the sea to drown. Anyone who was found to be living as a monk or with zealous orthodoxy was killed in such ways. (Chron. Theophan. Annus Mundi 6259)</p>
<p>Both Muhammad and Constantine V affirmed with fervent conviction that Mary was not the mother of God, and Protestants today would agree with them, saying that we should simply call her the mother of Christ. Now, while there is nothing wrong with calling her the mother of Christ, there is a danger in affirming that we must never address her as the Mother of God. To affirm this implies that Christ is somehow different, or even less significant, than the Father, or that Christ was not divine when He was born.</p>
<p>We do not agree that the source of God was Mary, but we do certainly believe that she brought forth Christ, God in the flesh, and that in this regard she indeed is the Mother of God. Christ said “I and my Father are one.” (John 10:30) This means that Jesus is God, and Mary is the Mother of God. Protestants have no problem in calling God the Father of Christ, and we know that they are not referring to Christ as not eternal or as being created. So then where is the issue if we call Mary the Mother of God? It was not adopted by paganism, as the subscribers to Hislop say, but to combat Arianism and Nestorianism.</p>
<p>There is a story which reveals the reason why the ancient church addressed Mary as so. One day the emperor Constantine V asked the patriarch of Rome, “But why would it harm us if we were to call the Mother of God ‘the mother of Christ’?” The patriarch embraced his question and replied, “Have mercy, lord, that title should not have crossed your mind. Do you not see that Nestorios was declared infamous and was anathematized by the entire church?” (Chron. Theophan. Annus Mundi 6255) To call Mary the mother of God, thus, is to prevent the sheep from going astray to the wolf of unitarianism. Not only was it a response against Nestorius, but the heretic Arias as well.</p>
<p><strong>THE DESPOTISM OF LEO III AND THE ICONOCLASM OF ISLAM<br /></strong></p>

<p>Another iconoclast king, Leo III, ordered for all the statues of martyrs to be effaced, and when the Pope of Rome heard of this, he ordered the Christians to refuse to pay taxes to the empire. (Theophilus of Edessa’s Chronicle, section 2, p.225)</p>
<p>Iconoclasm was, and still is, exemplified by Muslims. The Muslims, under the Ottoman empire, were famous for stabbing church icons. One Italian poet wrote with sadness on “the outrage done to God … the crucifixes and the images of the saints, of God, of the Madonna and the Holy Sacrament,” by the Muslims, who took joy in stabbing, burning, and firing arrows upon Christian icons. (See Moczar, Islam at the Gates, ch. vii, p. 147)</p>
<p><strong>CONCLUSION<br /></strong></p>
<p>Mary has always been regarded by the Catholics and Orthodox as a spiritual mother who directs nothing towards herself, but all towards her Son, Jesus. To attack a statue of Mary is, in this sense, no different than as Pope Francis said, attacking another person’s mother to his face.</p>
<p>If anybody — Muslim or non-Muslim — makes even an indirect statement criticizing Muhammad, there are worldwide, violent protests and demands for apologies.</p>
<p>The Muslims just smashed an urinated on an image of the Spiritual mother of over a billion Christians, and there is deafening silence.</p>
<p>We are less concerned about what the Muslims did, because that behavior should be expected of them. What bothers me is the silence from the Christians. If we cannot defend the honor of our own mother, will we even defend ourselves when the Muslims begin attacking us?</p>
<p>Iconoclasm was adopted by Islam. Look into the mirror, and make sure that you yourself have not adopted it as well.</p>

<p>A Muslim man in Afghanistan murdered his wife and beheaded with more brutality than one would use when slaughtering an animal. According to <a href="http://www.rawa.org/temp/runews/2015/08/26/baghlan-man-beheads-his-wife.html" target="_blank">one Afghan report:</a></p>
<blockquote>
<p>A man in northern Baghlan province reportedly beheaded his wife after a court failed to grant her a divorce.</p>
<p>The woman, Trina, apparently married her husband nearly a year ago but was so unhappy she filed for a divorce a few months back.</p>
<p>According to Trina’s sister: “Trina got married nearly a year back and she was not happy with her marriage and she wanted to break up. She went to the court to divorce but she returned home after a month.”</p>
<p>Oranoos Atifi, the head of the Women Affairs Department of Baghlan said that Trina was initially handed over to her family at her request.</p>
<p>“Two months ago the Baghlan court sent Trina to the Women’s Affairs Department and after spending a month [deliberating] the court issued a document that if she wanted, she could be handed over to her family. The Women’s Affairs handed over her to her brother,” Atifi said.</p>
<p>However, no divorce was granted. Instead, tribal elders got involved and ordered the couple to spend a few days together in a room they had built for them.</p>
<p>“Recently the tribal elders held a meeting and to solve the issues between Trina and her husband. They built a room in a house for them which they had to spend a few days. But after a few days my brother received a phone call. [The husband] told him that we should go there as he had killed our sister. When we got there we saw that she was beheaded,” said the sister.</p>
<p>Trina’s sister has called on government to ensure justice is carried out. “Trina’s husband killed her very brutally – no one even kills an animal like this,” one of Trina’s male relatives said.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Baghlan police officials said that they have opened a case of murder.</p>
<p>“We have completed our investigations and the police is trying to arrest the murderer of this women. The will and soon they will introduce him to the judicial institutions,” Baghlan Police Chief, Gen. Abdul Jabar Purdely said.</p>
<p>The attorney general’s department in Baghlan has also urged police to act seriously and arrest Trina’s murderer.</p>
<p>However, so far no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.</p>

<p>The widening chasm between workers’ pay and productivity since the 1970s is “the central component of the wage stagnation story” in the United States, the <a href="http://www.epi.org/publication/understanding-the-historic-divergence-between-productivity-and-a-typical-workers-pay-why-it-matters-and-why-its-real/" rel="nofollow">Economic Policy Institute (EPI) said in a report</a> issued Wednesday ahead of the Labor Day weekend.</p>
<p>Drawing on data from the Social Security Administration and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, EPI economists Lawrence Mishel and Josh Bivens found that median hourly compensation, adjusted for inflation, grew by 8.7 percent between 1973 and 2014. Productivity rose 72.2 percent over the same time period, the EPI report said.</p>
<p>“Productivity and compensation – all wages and benefits for a typical worker – used to grow together from 1948 to 1973, but since 1973 they have diverged,” Mishel said Wednesday in a conference call with reporters. “That’s very important."</p>
<p>The gap between wages and productivity growth has been thoroughly documented, by economists at EPI, a think tank with connections to organized labor, as well as by other scholars.</p>
<p>The paper released Wednesday defends and expands on prior research, arguing that specific policy choices and business practices have fueled the growth of productivity relative to worker compensation – a gap the authors say has been a major driver of inequality.</p>
<p>The paper blames “two key dynamics” for the gap: Growing inequality between workers when it comes to wages, and “the shift in the share of overall national income going to owners of capital and away from the pay of employees."</p>
<p>Analysis of that shift found what the authors called a “surprisingly modest effect of redistribution from labor to capital incomes.” Based on the data available, they calculated that such redistribution “accounts for only 11.5 percent of the gap between pay and net productivity over the 1973 to 2014 period.”</p>
<p>But the authors also said the available figures had some limitations. For example, they wrote that the data EPI used to calculate the breakdown between labor and capital incomes included CEO compensation, “including realized stock option gains of executives and bonus pay,” in its estimate of labor compensation – even though such forms of compensation, wrote Bivens and Mishel, have “a strong character of capital income" because they are tied to stock prices.</p>
<p>At the same time that capital’s share of income has grown over the last few decades, the size of the financial sector has exploded, according to recent research from the Roosevelt Institute, a liberal economic think tank.</p>
<p>“Capital has taken home an increasing share of national income with labor taking home less,” wrote Roosevelt Institute researchers in a July white paper on the “financialization” of the U.S. economy. “This increasing importance of wealth in our economy is an important element of financialization." The term refers to the encroachment of the financial sector into public and private life.</p>
<p>EPI's Bivens and Mishel focused on labor policy in explaining how wages have become uncoupled from productivity growth, citing three broad types of policies that they said had widened the split: Policies that hindered full employment, those that weakened labor standards, and those that undermined collective bargaining.</p>
<p>Bivens said the impact of such decisions is obvious to people in the workplace.</p>
<p>“Mostly what it means for the typical American worker is they don’t see their hourly pay rise, even as lots of income is being generated around them, even generated by them,” he said.</p>

<p>The police response to unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, last summer offers lessons in how not to handle mass demonstrations, according to a <a href="http://www.stlpublicradio.org/papertrail/document.html?id=2328941-after-action-assessment-of-the-police-response" rel="nofollow">Justice Department report</a> that warns such problems could happen in other places roiled by mistrust between law enforcement and the community.</p>
<p>The report fleshes out a draft version made public in June, creating a portrait of poor community-police relations, ineffective communication among the more than 50 law enforcement agencies that responded, police orders that infringed first amendment rights, and military-style tactics that antagonized demonstrators.</p>
<p>The final version, which is to be released on Thursday, was obtained in advance by the Associated Press.</p>
<p>The report focuses on the regional police response in the 17 days that followed the Aug. 9, 2014 shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black 18-year-old, by a white police officer. In a detailed chronology, it tracks missteps that began almost immediately after the shooting when police wrongly assumed that crowds would quickly dissipate, withheld information from the public and were slow to grasp community angst over the hours-long presence of Brown’s body beneath white sheets in the street.</p>
<p>It details more flaws over the next two weeks, including the improper use of police dogs, armored vehicles and snipers to monitor the crowds; the decision by some officers to remove their nameplates; arbitrary orders to demonstrators to keep moving after five seconds; and poor communication among agencies about which policy to follow and who was in change.</p>
<p>Several law enforcement agencies whose actions were studied said they have learned from the events.</p>
<p>Police officers interviewed for the report complained of inconsistent orders from commanders, with some saying “there was no plan in place for arresting people” or that they “were unclear who they could arrest.” Community members, meanwhile, described poor relationships with the police that long predated – and were made worse by – the shooting.</p>
<p>“Having effective relations and communications with the community, recognizing that endemic problems were at the base of the demonstrations, and understanding how the character of the mass gatherings was evolving and spreading beyond the initial officer-involved shooting would have all aided in incident management decisions,” the report states.</p>
<p>It also makes clear that the situation in Ferguson was not unique, particularly in a year of heightened tensions between police and minority communities nationwide.</p>
<p>The Justice Department cautioned in its report that while much of the world sees the St. Louis suburb “as a community of division and violence”, the protests and unrest that occurred there could happen in other places “in which fostering positive police-community relationships and building trust are not a priority”.</p>
<p>Federal officials hope the report will be instructive to other police departments confronting mass demonstrations.</p>
<p>“In many ways, the demonstrations that followed the shooting death of Michael Brown were more than a moment of discord in one small community; they have become part of a national movement to reform our criminal justice system and represent a new civil rights movement,” Ronald Davis, director of the Justice Department’s Community Oriented Policing Services office, wrote in an introduction to the report.</p>
<p>The Ferguson shooting, along with other deaths of blacks at the hands of white police officers, sparked a national dialogue about police-community relations and the role of race in policing. Several recent fatal shootings of on-duty police officers – including those in Illinois and Texas – have focused attention on violent crime and officer safety.</p>
<p>“We have seen violence strike at all segments of our community,” the attorney general, Loretta Lynch, said at a housing conference on Wednesday. “It is a sad fact now that no one is safe.”</p>
<p>The Justice Department began its review of the regional police response in September 2014 following a request from the St Louis County police chief. Its report is separate from a Justice Department report from March that was critical of Ferguson police practices and the city’s profit-driven municipal court system. A grand jury and the Justice Department both declined to prosecute white officer Darren Wilson, who later resigned.</p>
<p>The report focuses in particular on the responses of police in Ferguson, St Louis city and county and the Missouri highway patrol.</p>
<p>The Ferguson police department had no immediate comment on the report, while the Missouri highway patrol said it has implemented “lessons learned from its own review of events in Ferguson”.</p>
<p>A spokesman for the St. Louis city police department, Schron Jackson, said the agency had made multiple changes since last summer, including hiring more minority officers and launching a community engagement division.</p>
<p>“What our officers encountered during those first 17 days of unrest has forever changed policing,” Jackson said. “We acknowledge such change by the progressive steps our department has taken to build better community relationships.”</p>
<p>The St. Louis County police chief, Jon Belmar, said demonstrations like the ones that occurred in Ferguson are “unwieldy and difficult to manage by any precise measure” and that law enforcement nationwide could learn from “our successes and lessons learned”.</p>
<p>But he said the report provided only a limited snapshot, ignoring more recent police responses seen as improvements, such as during the first anniversary last month of Brown’s shooting.</p>

<p>Every time liberals celebrate new low-deficit numbers, the Karl Roves, Grover Norquists and David Kochs of the world smile with glee. It proves that the right-wing has won the framing battle over federal spending, and that they will always define the terms of the debate whenever the subject of more federal spending comes up.</p>
<p>The Congressional Budget Office is reporting that on September 30, the federal deficit hit <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/budget-deficit-to-drop-to-lowest-since-2008-2015-8" rel="nofollow">$426 billion</a> – $59 billion lower than it was last year, $60 billion lower than projected in March, and its lowest point since President Obama took office. <a href="http://www.politicususa.com/2015/06/08/obama-boom-office-united-states-cut-deficit-two-thirds.html" rel="nofollow">Liberals are jumping on this news</a>in an attempt to refute the dominant right-wing argument that Obama has been increasing the deficit since he took office. Liberals even made a <a href="http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/11/11/1343931/-Another-Open-Letter-To-Americans-About-Midterms-This-Time-From-Canada-This-One-Hurts" rel="nofollow">Canadian letter to the editor</a> go viral after it celebrated America’s declining deficit under the Obama administration.</p>
<p>But all low deficits prove is that our economy is still seeing anemic job growth in the public sector, which means less money circulating in local economies, which translates to less demand for goods and services and fewer jobs as a result. Essentially, liberals making an argument for decreased public investment are doing conservatives’ work for them.</p>
<p>“We’re already of the notion that big debt is a problem, and it’s really not. We’re a sovereign country with sovereign currency, and we can issue as much money as we need to cover our needs,” said Walt McRee, chairman of the Public Banking Institute. “Now would be a good time for government to declare that it’s issuing money for infrastructure.”</p>
<p>Currently, the U.S. government is in a prime position to borrow money to build up its outdated, aging infrastructure, as Fed interest rates remain at 0 percent. McRee pointed out the Federal Reserve could start up quantitative easing again, but use the money for infrastructure repair instead of give it to banks. We could certainly use it – the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has given American infrastructure a D+ rating, saying it would take an estimated <a href="http://www.infrastructurereportcard.org/" rel="nofollow">$3.6 trillion</a> to bring that grade up to an A by 2020.</p>
<p>Through quantitative easing, the Fed spent <a href="http://www.pbs.org/newshour/making-sense/federal-reserve-printing-free-lunch/" rel="nofollow">$85 billion each month</a> in the years following the financial crisis, buying up the same toxic assets that Wall Street banks marketed to investors and pension funds with the help of complicit ratings agencies that gave them AAA ratings. A similar investment program aimed at updating roads, bridges, dams, levees, schools, sewage systems, power plants, railways, parks, and public transportation could create millions of new jobs in the short-term, and millions more when the added income from the first influx of jobs cycles through local economies. Call it “Quantitative Easing for People,” if you like. And such a program would only cost half of what we spent on the banks.</p>
<p>Doing the math, the Fed created $85 billion a month for 72 months and gave it to the banks, totaling $6.12 trillion. If the Fed were to print the same amount of money each month and allocate for infrastructure investments beginning in January 2016, Quantitative Easing for People would only last 40 months, meeting the ASCE’s goal of $3.6 trillion in infrastructure investments by May of 2019. So what would that look like for America?</p>
<p>Our public highways could theoretically be replaced by something resembling Elon Musk’s hyperloop, in which people traveling in bullet trains going 800 miles per hour could get from L.A. to San Francisco in just 30 minutes, or people making a 2,800-mile journey from Seattle to New York could get to their destination in just 3.5 hours. We could have nationwide public internet access, making cable monopolies a thing of the past. Every major metropolitan center could have a highly sophisticated subway system, rendering highway commutes obsolete. Water storage systems and reservoirs could get a much-needed upgrade, turning floods that run off into oceans into purified drinking water. The possibilities are limitless. And the process itself is not unfamiliar – we’ve already done this before, and the results were a resounding success.</p>
<p>Between 1932 and 1957, the <a href="http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h1523.html" rel="nofollow">Reconstruction Finance Corporation</a> was tasked with rejuvenating American infrastructure at the height of the Great Depression. Congress signed off on providing $500 million in initial capital, which would be <a href="http://www.westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi" rel="nofollow">$8.56 trillion in 2014 dollars</a>. While the program was justly criticized for helping big business over small business, it set a historical precedent that support for mass economic stimulus in a time of economic malaise works.</p>
<p>“Our debt is not complicating our lives, and it’s not inflationary to put that money into our economy,” McRee said. “That’s what money is for.”</p>
