Why The Regime Hates Joe Rogan

2022 will be the year that people in their millions jump the sinking ship of big tech and move to newer independent, and uncensored platforms. Among plenty of others, that’s the prediction of Senator Rand Paul, who is leading the charge by voluntarily quitting YouTube in favour of <a href="https://rumble.com/RandPaul">Rumble</a>.
“About half of the public leans right. If we all took our messaging to outlets of free exchange, we could cripple Big Tech in a heartbeat,” Paul <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/my-new-years-resolution-im-quitting-youtube">announced in an op ed.</a>
“So, today I take my first step toward denying my content to Big Tech. Hopefully, other liberty lovers will follow,” the Senator added.
He continued, “As a libertarian leaning Senator, I think private companies have the right to ban me if they want to, however, those of us who believe that truth comes from disputation and that the marketplace of ideas is a prerequisite for innovation should shun the close-minded censors and take our ideas elsewhere, which is exactly what I’m doing.”
Paul called his “dysfunctional” interaction with Google a “toxic relationship” where his every word is scrutinised by politicised “fact checkers.”
“Sure, I can get millions of views. But why should I allow anonymous ‘fact-checkers’ to censor my fully sourced, fact-based content?” Paul asked, adding “They don’t want to challenge or debate me with opposing views, they just want my silence.”
The Senator described the unholy partnership of corporate media and big tech as a “Medieval church” decreeing that opinions deviating from the established narrative are too “dangerous” for people to be subjected to.
“An entire generation of young people, who use these platforms exclusively for their news, will never read or hear of opinions or ideas that challenge the Big Government / Big Tech orthodoxy,” the Senator urged.
“When I gave a speech on the Senate floor asking whether Eric Ciaramella, the Vindman brothers, and Adam Schiff’s legal team conspired while working at the White House to impeach the president, YouTube chose to censor and delete the video,” Paul further notes.
Paul also addressed the wholly unscientific mantra of ‘follow the science’, noting that “A hallmark of the scientific method is to challenge and disprove a hypothesis. Yet we have abandoned science and rational debate for an almost religious adherence to the edicts of government bureaucrats like Anthony Fauci. To challenge the data is to be ‘denier’ or ‘conspiracist’ who must be silenced.”
Paul’s move comes amid yet more rampant censorship efforts on behalf of Google, which is scrambling to take down Joe Rogan’s interviews with illustrious medical experts Dr Peter McCullough and Dr Robert Malone, merely because they have questioned the viability and logic of mass inoculation. They have also been charged with altering search results to suppress the content.
Twitter has also banned Malone, and last week banned sitting Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for “repeated violations” of its Covid misinformation policy.
The move prompted podcast giant <a href="https://summit.news/2022/01/03/joe-rogan-joins-gettr-in-anticipation-of-censorship-on-twitter-getting-even-dumber/">Rogan to set up a GETTR account</a> in anticipation of censorship becoming “dumber” at Twitter.

The British government used “propagandistic” fear tactics to scare the public into mass compliance during the first COVID lockdown, according to a behavioral scientist who worked inside Downing Street.
Simon Ruda co-founded Number 10’s ‘Nudge Unit’, which was initially set up to encourage positive behavioral changes in the British public without the need for coercion or legislation, but was weaponized during the pandemic to create scaremongering.
“In my mind, the most egregious and far-reaching mistake made in responding to the pandemic has been the level of fear willingly conveyed on the public,” wrote Ruda.
“That fear seems to have subsequently driven policy decisions in a worrying feed-back loop,” he added, noting that such actions amounted to “state sanctioned propaganda.”
The behavioral scientist said that an obsession with daily case numbers came to dominate thinking, serving to spread even more fear.
That process included grossly exaggerating the threat posed by COVID and producing lurid, alarmist propaganda to frighten the population into subservience.

As we previously highlighted, scientists in the UK working as advisors for the government admitted using what they now concede to be “unethical” and “totalitarian” methods of instilling fear in the population in order to control behavior during the pandemic.
The London Telegraph <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/05/14/scientists-admit-totalitarian-use-fear-control-behaviour-covid/">reported</a> the comments made by Members of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Behaviour (SPI-B), a sub-committee of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) the government’s chief scientific advisory group.
The report quotes a briefing from March 2020, as the first lockdown was decreed, that stated the government should drastically increase “the perceived level of personal threat” that the virus poses because “a substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened.”
One scientist with the SPI-B admits that, “In March [2020] the Government was very worried about compliance and they thought people wouldn’t want to be locked down. There were discussions about fear being needed to encourage compliance, and decisions were made about how to ramp up the fear.”

The unnamed scientist added that, “The way we have used fear is dystopian.”
The scientist further confessed that, “The use of fear has definitely been ethically questionable. It’s been like a weird experiment. Ultimately, it backfired because people became too scared.”
The fearmongering campaign clearly worked.
By the summer of 2020, <a href="https://summit.news/2020/08/05/survey-americans-think-coronavirus-has-killed-30-million-people-in-the-u-s-225-times-higher-than-actual-figure/">the average Brit thought</a> 6-7% of the population of the UK had died from coronavirus, a figure equating to around 4.5 million people.
At the time, COVID-19 had actually claimed around 40,000 lives.
But don’t worry, all this is of no importance whatsoever, because ‘fact checkers’ <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-coronavirus-psychology-idUSL1N2TN1RE">have ruled</a> that ‘mass formation psychosis’ isn’t a thing that happened at all during the pandemic.

GOP Senator Who Fauci Called a ‘Moron’ Is Set to Introduce the ‘FAUCI Act’

<h4>A Republican Senator from Kansas is taking aim at the secrecy surrounding the financial records of White House coronavirus adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci, which despite Fauci’s claims to the contrary remain largely hidden from public view.</h4>
GOP Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas will introduce the Financial Accountability for Uniquely Compensated Individuals Act, or FAUCI Act, due to his concerns about the lack of transparency regarding Fauci’s records, according to <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/589699-gop-senator-plans-to-introduce-fauci-act-after-clash-at-hearing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Hill</a>.
The <a href="https://www.westernjournal.com/republican-senator-introducing-fauci-act/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">FAUCI Act</a> would require the Office of Government Ethics website to list the pay and perks for administration officials such as Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The agency also would be required to provide a list of those paid by the government whose financial records are not public.
The proposed legislation is an outgrowth of Marshall’s clash with Fauci during a Senate hearing Tuesday in which Marshall criticized both Fauci’s<a href="https://www.westernjournal.com/allegedly-lying-congress-fauci-expected-biggest-payday-us-history/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> $434,000 salary</a> and the billions of dollars in federal research grants his agency awards with little fanfare or scrutiny, according to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/01/11/anthony-fauci-gop-senators-financial-disclosure-526891" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Politico</a>.
“As the highest-paid employee in the entire federal government, would you be willing to submit to Congress and the public a financial disclosure that includes your past and current investments?” Marshall asked, noting that federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky discloses her investments, as do members of Congress.
“All you have to do is ask for it,” Fauci said. “You’re so misinformed, it’s extraordinary.”
Marshall said Fauci has<a href="https://www.westernjournal.com/fauci-goes-viral-pathetic-attempt-rand-paul-blows-face/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> inside knowledge</a> that could benefit the doctor.
“There’s an air of appearance that maybe some shenanigans are going on,” Marshall said, adding that he believes such “is not the case.”
Fauci said the information Marshall seeks “is totally accessible to you if you want it.”

“We look forward to reviewing it,” Marshall said as Washington Democratic Sen. Patty Murray, chairwoman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, cut off the exchange between Marshall and Fauci.
Then came the hot-mic comment that raised Marshall’s ire.
“What a moron,” Fauci said softly, according to multiple outlets. “Jesus Christ.”
Marshall later issued a statement.
“Calling me a moron during a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.westernjournal.com/fired-rand-paul-takes-fauci-task-heated-senate-hearing/" target="_blank">Senate hearing</a> may have alleviated the stress of the least trusted bureaucrat in America, but it didn’t take away from the facts,” Marshall said.
Department of Health and Human Services spokesman Ian Sams then criticized Marshall for criticizing Fauci, according to Politico.
“At a time when America is seeing rising COVID cases,” Sams said, “it’s disappointing and frankly unacceptable that Republican Senators chose to spend a hearing with the country’s leading public health experts spreading conspiracy theories and lies about Dr. Fauci, rather than how we protect people from COVID-19.”

Andrzejewski said existing public records available online do not show Fauci’s pay for any time since the 2020 federal fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, 2020.
“It’s not public what <a href="https://www.westernjournal.com/trump-economy-fighting-off-covid-us-stocks-near-record-high/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stocks</a> and bonds Dr. Fauci bought and sold in 2020 or 2021, as he influenced Covid policies,” Andrzejewski  <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamandrzejewski/2022/01/12/no-faucis-records-arent-available-online-why-wont-nih-immediately-release-them/?sh=2fd33a9446bd" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">wrote</a>.
“It’s not public what Fauci received – or didn’t receive – in royalties. (There are up to 1,000 current and former NIH scientists receiving royalties.) Each payment could be a potential conflict of interest.
“Yes, all this information resides with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), but isn’t ‘public knowledge,’ despite Dr. Fauci’s claims otherwise.”
Andrzejewski noted that vast amounts of information on Fauci – about 1,200 pages — remain in the hands of the National Institutes of Health despite a Freedom of Information proceeding by the nonprofit group Judicial Watch to kick loose the facts.

DeSantis Slams Justices Roberts & Kavanaugh For Having No “Backbone” In Health Care Vaccine Mandate

Appearing on a popular new conservative <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://ruthlesspodcast.com/episodes/ron-desantis-gets-ruthless" target="_blank">podcast called “Ruthless”</a> Friday, DeSantis railed against Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh for ruling in favor of the Biden administration’s health care worker vaccine mandate.
Thursday’s SCOTUS rulings allow the health care worker mandate to go into effect while preventing the enforcement of the attempted Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) mandate for businesses employing 100 or more people.
The podcast aired audio of DeSantis speaking to thousands of people in St. Petersburg, Florida.
“On the nurse mandate and the doctor mandate, Roberts and Kavanaugh joined with the liberals to allow the nurse mandate,” DeSantis told the crowd, which responded with astounding boos.
“So here’s what’s going on, think about how insane this is,” he continued. “Now, in Florida, we protected the nurses, so we have people that are working. But in other states, they fired nurses who were not vaccinated. Many of them have natural immunity from prior infection.”
“So they have COVID-positive people back on, meanwhile the unvaccinated, likely immune through prior infection, healthy nurses are on the sidelines fired,” DeSantis added. “How insane are these policies?”
The governor predicted other states that don’t have the protections Florida does will soon be forced to get rid of healthy, capable nurses due to their vaccination status amid a shortage of workers.
“But honestly, Roberts and Kavanaugh did not have a backbone on that decision,” said DeSantis. “That’s just the bottom line.”

The Fed Has Triggered A Stagflationary Disaster That Will Hit Hard This Year

I don’t think I can overstate the danger that the U.S. economy is in right now as we enter 2022.
While most people are caught up in the ongoing drama of Covid-19, a REAL threat looms over the nation in the form of a stagflationary tidal wave. The mainstream media is attempting to place the blame on “supply chain disruptions,” but this is a misrepresentation of the issue.
The two factors are indeed intertwined, but the reality is that inflation is the cause of supply chain disruptions, not the result of supply chain disruptions. If we look at the underlying stats for price rises in essential products we can get a clearer picture.
Before I get into my argument, I really want to stress that this is a precarious time and I suggest that people prepare accordingly. In just the past few months I have seen personal expenses rise at least 20% overall, and I’m sure it’s the same or worse for most of you. Stocking necessities and safe-haven investments with intrinsic value like physical precious metals are a good choice for protecting whatever buying power your dollars have left…
Higher prices everywhere
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is officially at the <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/59c73cd5-5332-455e-8a47-9fd0b77fc4d2" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">highest levels in 40 years</a>. CPI measurements often diminish the scale of the problem because they do not include things like food, energy and housing which are core expenses for the public. CPI calculations have also been “adjusted” over the past few decades by the government to express a more positive view on inflation. If we look at the inflation numbers at Shadowstats, calculated according to the <a href="http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/inflation-charts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">same methods they used in the 1980’s</a>, we see a dramatic increase in CPI which paints a more dire (but more accurate) picture.
U.S. <a href="https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/food-inflation" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">food prices have spiked</a> to levels not seen since 2008 at the onset of the credit and derivatives collapse that brought about tens of trillions of dollars in Federal Reserve bailouts.
If we look beyond the 2008 crisis, food costs do not see a similar jump until the 1980s. Rising food prices in the US are often obscured by creative accounting and “shrinkflation” (shrinking packages and rising prices), but if we look at <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/business-59172665" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">global food prices</a> the average is a 30% jump in the past year.

Rental and home prices have also gone into the stratosphere. <a href="https://www.apartmentlist.com/research/national-rent-data" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rental costs went up around 18%</a> in 2021, and this is an extension of a trend that has been prevalent for the past decade. Prices have been rising for a while, it’s just that now the avalanche has accelerated.
Home prices are currently out of the range of most new potential home buyers. Values jumped 16% in the past year alone, with the average property costing $408,000. Home sales continue to remain elevated compared to two years ago despite inflating prices for one reason and one reason only – the mass migration of Americans away from the draconian mandates and bureaucracy of blue states into more conservative states.
I live in Montana, a primary destination for people relocating, and from my experience the majority of these people are conservatives seeking to escape the vaccine and lockdown mandates in places like California, New York and Illinois. They see the writing on the wall and they are trying to get ahead of the economic and social calamity that will surely befall such states.
I would also note that home sales have finally begun to flatten in the past six months but prices are not dropping, which is a trend that I think needs to be explored further because it illustrates the larger issue of <a href="https://www.birchgold.com/stagflation-explained">stagflation</a>.
When inflation becomes stagflation
Understand that prices are not just rising because of increased demand (demand is starting to fall in many sectors), prices are rising because of <a href="https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/money-supply-m1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">increased money supply</a> and dollar devaluation which is not yet being reflected in the Dollar Index.
Take a look at <a href="https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/gdp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">U.S. GDP</a> and you will see that for the past several years it has tracked in tandem with price inflation. Obviously, if prices inflate then this means people are spending more, which then leads to higher U.S. GDP; it’s like magic, right? In other words, inflation makes it seem as though U.S. GDP is always improving.
However, this has not been the case in the past couple of years.
Official GDP has flattened despite the fact that U.S. money supply and inflation have rocketed higher. What does this mean? I believe it is a sign of stagflation and a reckoning in 2022. If we examine inflation adjusted GDP numbers from Shadowstats we see that <a href="http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/gross-domestic-product-charts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GDP has declined</a> rather aggressively in the past couple of years.
We can also see odd tendencies in oil and gasoline prices. While it’s true that <a href="https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=emm_epm0_pte_nus_dpg&f=m" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">gas prices have been higher</a> in the past, this does not address the full context of the situation. U.S. travel spending has declined 12% since 2019 and airline travel has dropped at least 21% in the past year. <a href="https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/steo/report/us_oil.php" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Average gasoline usage dropped</a> after 2019 and still has not recovered. Yet, gas prices continue to rise? In other words, travel demand is stagnant but prices are INCREASING – this is another signal of inflationary pressures and dollar devaluation. Oil is priced in dollars globally, and therefore any inflation in the dollar will be readily visible in oil. This would help explain why pandemic paranoia and reduced travel have not caused gas prices to drop.
If the current momentum continues the majority of necessities in the U.S. will not be affordable for most people by next year. We are looking at a fast-moving decline in production along with a swift explosion in prices. In other words, a stagflationary disaster.
This is the Federal Reserve’s fault
I and many other alternative economists have been warning about the inevitable inflation/stagflation crisis for years, but the most important factor to understand is WHO is responsible this event?
The mainstream financial media is going to protect the government and the Federal Reserve at all costs during this breakdown. They are going to blame Covid, the lockdowns here and overseas as well as the supply chain bottleneck.
The Fed is the true culprit, though.
While there have been many American Presidents and other politicians that have supported the Fed in its inflationary activities, the central bank itself needs to be held accountable for the downturn that is about to occur. This is a process that started back at the founding of the Fed, but spread like cancer after the crash of 2008 and the introduction of 12+ years of stimulus and bailout measures along with near-zero interest rates.
The inflationary end-game
The pandemic is the perfect cover for the inflationary end game. In 2008 the response to the crisis was to print and pump dollars into banks and corporations in the U.S. and around the globe. This money supply was held in corporate coffers and in central banks overseas, which slowed the effects of inflation. This set the precedent for subversive stimulus policies by giving the Fed a blank check to do whatever it wanted.
In 2020, the Fed created trillions more but this time the money was injected directly into the U.S. economy through Covid stimulus checks, PPP loans and other measures. In the alternative economic field we call this “helicopter money.” These dollars triggered a massive retail buying spree in 2020, but with more dollars in the economy chasing less goods prices are now spiking much higher.
The big discussion today is whether or not the Fed will taper their asset purchases, reduce their balance sheet and raise interest rates to counter inflation?
The fact is it won’t matter; inflation/stagflation will continue or even accelerate as the Fed tapers. With a taper comes the threat of a flattening yield curve in Treasury bonds as well as the danger of bonds and dollars being dumped by foreign investors and central banks. If the trillions upon trillions of dollars being held overseas come flooding back into the U.S., inflation will continue at its current pace or erupt even higher. In fact, the <a href="https://wolfstreet.com/2021/12/30/us-dollars-status-as-dominant-global-reserve-currency-hobbles-along-25-year-low-and-usd-exchange-rates/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">world’s ownership of dollars</a> reached a 26-year low recently. The global transition away from the dollar, toward <a href="https://www.birchgold.com/inflation-resistant-investments-compared/">inflation-resistant investments</a>, has already begun.
This is not a policy error
I explained this Catch-22 threat in my recent article <a href="https://alt-market.us/the-feds-catch-22-taper-is-a-weapon-not-a-policy-error/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Fed’s Catch-22 Taper Is a Weapon, Not a Policy Error</a>. In that essay I outline the Fed’s documented history of creating economic disasters that conveniently end up benefiting their friends in the international banks.
I also explained (with evidence) how the Federal Reserve actually takes its marching orders from the Bank for International Settlements, a globalist institution which along with the International Monetary Fund and World Economic Forum is openly seeking a one-world economic system and one-world currency system.
I do not believe that the Fed’s actions are a product of ignorance or stupidity or basic greed. I do not believe the Fed is scrambling to keep the U.S. economy afloat. I believe according to the evidence that the Fed knows exactly what it is doing. The pandemic offers a perfect scapegoat for an engineered crash of the U.S. economy which the Fed is trying to facilitate.
Why? Because the more desperate people are financially, the easier they are to buy off with false promises and a loaf of bread. They are easier to control. On top of that, with the U.S. economy reduced to second- or third-world status, it is easier to sell the public on the predetermined solution – total global centralization and far less freedom.
As the stagflationary crash plays out, never forget who was really the cause of the public’s suffering. In the fog of national crisis it is easy for the establishment to shift blame and responsibility and to cloud the truth. The inflation calamity is about to get much worse, and as it does we need to rally newly awakened people to take action against the central bankers and globalists behind it.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s son, Paul Pelosi Jr., has been called out by the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9827893/Nancy-Pelosis-son-Paul-involved-FIVE-companies-probed-feds.html">Daily Mail</a> over his close ties to “a host of fraudsters, rule-breakers and convicted criminals,” yet has never been charged himself.
Once dubbed the ‘rising prince’ of the Pelosi political dynasty by the now-defunct Men’s Vogue, Pelosi Jr. had “years-long repeated business dealings” with unsavory characters, in what may have been efforts to curry favor with the Democrat’s powerful family.
Via the Daily Mail, Pelosi Jr.’s links to alleged lawbreakers include:

<li>The 52-year-old joined the board of a biofuel company after it defrauded investors according to an SEC ruling, and whose CEO was convicted after bribing Georgia officials </li>
<li>Pelosi Jr. was president of an environmental investment firm that turned out to be a front for two convicted fraudsters </li>
<li>He joined a lithium mining company and received millions of shares, allegedly issued as part of a massive $164 million fraud </li>
<li>He was vice president of a company previously embroiled in an investigation of scam calls that targeted senior citizens </li>
<li>He has close business ties with a man accused by the Department of Justice of running a fake UN charity that stole investors’ money </li>
<li>A medical company Pelosi Jr. worked for tested drugs on people without FDA authorization, according to an FDA investigation</li>
</ul>
According to the report, “sources close to the Democrat power broker’s son – and even Pelosi Jr. himself – admit that some of his business dealings may have arisen from savvy entrepreneurs hiring him in an attempt to curry favor with his powerful family.”
For starters, Paul Pelosi landed a $180,000 per year job as Senior Vice President at data company InfoUSA – while he was also a full-time loan officer at Countrywide Home Loans in San Mateo and had zero experience in database marketing. According to investigators, between 2001 and 2004, before Pelosi Jr. joined the company, InfoUSA knowingly sold fraudsters the data of millions of Americans – which was then used to scam elderly people out of their life savings.

According to a 2007 New York Times report on the investigation, InfoUSA sold a list of 500,000 gamblers over age 55 called ‘Oldies but Goodies’, which described its members as ‘gullible’.
InfoUSA also sold lists of people with cancer or Alzheimer’s called ‘Suffering Seniors’, the Times reported. The data company denied their lists had such titles.
Iowa investigators found emails showing InfoUSA staff knew the firms they were selling to were being investigated for fraudulently targeting old people, but continued to sell the data regardless, the state’s AG said. -Daily Mail

How about this for a story? A man leaves India for Omaha with $58 in his pocket. He starts a company in 1972 that reaches peak revenue of $400 million, spends a night in the Lincoln bedroom, puts Bill Clinton on its payroll, sails Bill on his 80-foot yacht with an all-female crew, and flies Hillary Clinton to campaign events on his corporate jet.
And he’s as happy as a clam — despite getting sued by shareholders, being pushed out as CEO, incurring over <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-02-11/infogroup-to-pay-13-million-to-settle-suit-over-buyout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">$12 million in debts</a> to settle shareholder lawsuits, and using insurance to pay $13 million to settle a lawsuit alleging that he sold his company — netting him <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-02-11/infogroup-to-pay-13-million-to-settle-suit-over-buyout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">$150 million</a> for his 40% stake — at too low a price.
The man is Vinod Gupta, former CEO of InfoUSA, a company that built a database that marketers use to sell everything from consumer products to politicians.
Gupta got himself into a larger-than-life heap of trouble.
And according to the Daily Mail, some people thought Gupta put Pelosi Jr. on his payroll to curry favor with his powerful mother. Jr. denied it at the time.
“I don’t think that’s really what happens,” Paul told NewsMax in 2007. “I don’t see it that way, but I could see why you’d ask the question… I guess you always wonder why somebody hires you, right?”
Meanwhile, Paul was recruited to be the president of an environmental investment company – Natural Blue Resources. According to 2014 charges against the company, Pelosi Jr. was recruited along with former New Mexico governor and AG Toney Anaya, to create the company and ostensibly find new underground aquifers in New Mexico.
A SEC investigaiton, however, found that the company was “secretly controlled” by two convicted criminals – making Pelosi Jr. a cutout used (along with others) to let them “personally profit from the company without disclosing their past brushes with the law to investors.”
The two men? James Cohen and Joseph Corazzi.

Cohen had previously been jailed for financial fraud, and Corazzi had been charged with breaking federal securities laws and was permanently barred from acting as an officer of a public company. 
Though Anaya was charged, Pelosi Jr. was not. Pelosi Jr. served as president and board member of Natural Blue from its public stock exchange listing in August 2009 for five months, and served on the board of another company run by Cohen’s wife. -Daily Mail

The SEC concluded that Pelosi Jr. didn’t play a “meaningful role” in one of Natural Blue’s key transactions, and “strenuously object[ed]’ to proposed fundraising contracts, was ousted from the board by the accused fraudsters,” ultimately appearing as a witness for the prosecution.
Then, in October 2013, Paul landed a job as VP of biofuel company FOGFuels – one month after the SEC announced that it had filed charges against the company and its founder, Paul Marshall (via the Mail).

The federal complaint said Marshall stole $3 million from mostly elderly investors in FOGFuels and another of his companies ‘to pay for a variety of Marshall’s personal expenses, including luxury vacations, child support and alimony payments, and private school tuition and camps for his children.’
At the same time, an Atlanta, Georgia official was found guilty of helping arrange city contracts for Marshall’s wireless internet company in exchange for bribes.
Marshall had previously agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in his $3 million fraud case, and was not charged in the bribery case.
FOGFuels, of which Pelosi Jr. was Vice President at the time, also won an Atlanta City Council resolution to turn waste restaurant grease into biofuel. -Daily Mail

According to Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich, the Office of the Attending Physician provided the CCP-produced masks to House members, without a hint of irony that the very virus being warded off in all likelihood emerged from China.

“These Chinese masks further highlight our need to divest away from the [Chinese Communist Party]. Our national security and our health depend on it,” Wenstrup stated.
Likewise, Rep. Greg Murphy (R-N.C.) highlighted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) lack of concern over the appearance of capitulating to China.
“As usual, Speaker Pelosi fails to recognize the senseless optics of her own decision-making,” Murphy said. “We are fighting a virus that came from China, yet the Speaker is comfortable with publicly supporting a Chinese manufacturer, sending our taxpayer dollars overseas and further advertising our dependency on China … on the faces of Congress.
“Either Pelosi’s office neglected to realize the cruel irony of supporting ‘Made in China’ or they don’t care.”
The Chinese masks were fitting “for the Democrats to be handing out masks that were made in the same place the virus originated,” quipped Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.).

Democrats Moving Away From Lockdown Restrictions Over Fears of Being Crushed Politically

In response to plummeting approval ratings, Democrats are now moving away from lockdown policies they previously vehemently advocated over fears about being wiped out politically.
That’s according to a new report by <a href="https://www.politico.com/states/new-york/city-hall/story/2022/01/09/omicron-is-surging-and-democrats-arent-shutting-things-down-this-time-1404752">Politico</a>, which notes how, “Omicron is surging — and Democrats aren’t shutting things down this time.”
“From New York to California, Democratic mayors and governors are fighting to keep schools and businesses open with an urgency they haven’t flexed before in the pandemic,” writes Lisa Kashinsky.
That sea change likely has a lot to do with Republicans securing a November clean sweep of the House, as well as the offices of governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general in Virginia.
Republican Glenn Youngkin appealed to parents who were angry over school closures and other issues such as mask mandates, while New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy came closer to defeat than expected over frustrations relating to COVID restrictions.
Big events such as the Super Bowl in L.A. will now go ahead, while the likes of Fauci and Biden refrained from telling Americans to cancel holiday plans despite record case numbers caused by Omicron.
“Democrats went further than most Republicans in shutting down businesses, enforcing social distancing and requiring masks to tame the spread of the virus — and were initially rewarded politically for their caution,” states the report.

“They can’t close things down, and there is no public tolerance for serious disruptions in people’s lives. People have run out of patience,” said Blendon.
Polling has also been dreadful for Democrats, with Biden’s approval rating <a href="https://summit.news/2022/01/13/bidens-approval-rating-drops-to-new-record-low/">sinking</a> to a new low as just 15.5% of Americans <a href="https://summit.news/2022/01/14/poll-finds-only-10-of-americans-trust-media-on-covid-30-trust-fauci/">say</a> they trust the president when it comes to information about COVID-19.
“Everything our government tried to contain this virus has failed and now, thanks to Omicron, everyone is getting infected with a “live covid vaccine” that’s relatively mild and actually works,” <a href="http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=62809">comments Chris Menahan</a>.
“With the combination of Omicron infecting millions and Democrats getting wiped out politically there’s a decent chance we may actually be able to move on from this hysteria and get on with life.”

Report: German Government Considering Shutting Down Telegram

2022 will be the year that people in their millions jump the sinking ship of big tech and move to newer independent, and uncensored platforms. Among plenty of others, that’s the prediction of Senator Rand Paul, who is leading the charge by voluntarily quitting YouTube in favour of <a href="https://rumble.com/RandPaul">Rumble</a>.
“About half of the public leans right. If we all took our messaging to outlets of free exchange, we could cripple Big Tech in a heartbeat,” Paul <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/my-new-years-resolution-im-quitting-youtube">announced in an op ed.</a>
“So, today I take my first step toward denying my content to Big Tech. Hopefully, other liberty lovers will follow,” the Senator added.
He continued, “As a libertarian leaning Senator, I think private companies have the right to ban me if they want to, however, those of us who believe that truth comes from disputation and that the marketplace of ideas is a prerequisite for innovation should shun the close-minded censors and take our ideas elsewhere, which is exactly what I’m doing.”
Paul called his “dysfunctional” interaction with Google a “toxic relationship” where his every word is scrutinised by politicised “fact checkers.”
“Sure, I can get millions of views. But why should I allow anonymous ‘fact-checkers’ to censor my fully sourced, fact-based content?” Paul asked, adding “They don’t want to challenge or debate me with opposing views, they just want my silence.”
The Senator described the unholy partnership of corporate media and big tech as a “Medieval church” decreeing that opinions deviating from the established narrative are too “dangerous” for people to be subjected to.
“An entire generation of young people, who use these platforms exclusively for their news, will never read or hear of opinions or ideas that challenge the Big Government / Big Tech orthodoxy,” the Senator urged.
“When I gave a speech on the Senate floor asking whether Eric Ciaramella, the Vindman brothers, and Adam Schiff’s legal team conspired while working at the White House to impeach the president, YouTube chose to censor and delete the video,” Paul further notes.
Paul also addressed the wholly unscientific mantra of ‘follow the science’, noting that “A hallmark of the scientific method is to challenge and disprove a hypothesis. Yet we have abandoned science and rational debate for an almost religious adherence to the edicts of government bureaucrats like Anthony Fauci. To challenge the data is to be ‘denier’ or ‘conspiracist’ who must be silenced.”
Paul’s move comes amid yet more rampant censorship efforts on behalf of Google, which is scrambling to take down Joe Rogan’s interviews with illustrious medical experts Dr Peter McCullough and Dr Robert Malone, merely because they have questioned the viability and logic of mass inoculation. They have also been charged with altering search results to suppress the content.
Twitter has also banned Malone, and last week banned sitting Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for “repeated violations” of its Covid misinformation policy.
The move prompted podcast giant <a href="https://summit.news/2022/01/03/joe-rogan-joins-gettr-in-anticipation-of-censorship-on-twitter-getting-even-dumber/">Rogan to set up a GETTR account</a> in anticipation of censorship becoming “dumber” at Twitter.

Poll Finds Only 10% of Americans Trust Media on COVID, 30% Trust Fauci

The British government used “propagandistic” fear tactics to scare the public into mass compliance during the first COVID lockdown, according to a behavioral scientist who worked inside Downing Street.
Simon Ruda co-founded Number 10’s ‘Nudge Unit’, which was initially set up to encourage positive behavioral changes in the British public without the need for coercion or legislation, but was weaponized during the pandemic to create scaremongering.
“In my mind, the most egregious and far-reaching mistake made in responding to the pandemic has been the level of fear willingly conveyed on the public,” wrote Ruda.
“That fear seems to have subsequently driven policy decisions in a worrying feed-back loop,” he added, noting that such actions amounted to “state sanctioned propaganda.”
The behavioral scientist said that an obsession with daily case numbers came to dominate thinking, serving to spread even more fear.
That process included grossly exaggerating the threat posed by COVID and producing lurid, alarmist propaganda to frighten the population into subservience.

As we previously highlighted, scientists in the UK working as advisors for the government admitted using what they now concede to be “unethical” and “totalitarian” methods of instilling fear in the population in order to control behavior during the pandemic.
The London Telegraph <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/05/14/scientists-admit-totalitarian-use-fear-control-behaviour-covid/">reported</a> the comments made by Members of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Behaviour (SPI-B), a sub-committee of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) the government’s chief scientific advisory group.
The report quotes a briefing from March 2020, as the first lockdown was decreed, that stated the government should drastically increase “the perceived level of personal threat” that the virus poses because “a substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened.”
One scientist with the SPI-B admits that, “In March [2020] the Government was very worried about compliance and they thought people wouldn’t want to be locked down. There were discussions about fear being needed to encourage compliance, and decisions were made about how to ramp up the fear.”

The unnamed scientist added that, “The way we have used fear is dystopian.”
The scientist further confessed that, “The use of fear has definitely been ethically questionable. It’s been like a weird experiment. Ultimately, it backfired because people became too scared.”
The fearmongering campaign clearly worked.
By the summer of 2020, <a href="https://summit.news/2020/08/05/survey-americans-think-coronavirus-has-killed-30-million-people-in-the-u-s-225-times-higher-than-actual-figure/">the average Brit thought</a> 6-7% of the population of the UK had died from coronavirus, a figure equating to around 4.5 million people.
At the time, COVID-19 had actually claimed around 40,000 lives.
But don’t worry, all this is of no importance whatsoever, because ‘fact checkers’ <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-coronavirus-psychology-idUSL1N2TN1RE">have ruled</a> that ‘mass formation psychosis’ isn’t a thing that happened at all during the pandemic.

Two Premier League football matches were halted last night over ‘medical emergencies’ that occurred in the stands, with one victim suffering a cardiac arrest.
A match at Vicarage Road between Watford and Chelsea had to be stopped for 30 minutes after a fan suffered a cardiac arrest during the first half.
The players refused to return to the pitch until the situation had been resolved, with the fan being removed on a stretcher and taken to Watford General Hospital.

Meanwhile, another fan was taken ill during a game between Southampton and Leicester at St. Mary’s, with the match being delayed for 15 minutes.
“The fan had collapsed during the interval but the issue was not said to be a cardiac arrest,” reports RT. “The person received treatment inside the stadium before being taken to hospital.”
There have been <a href="https://summit.news/2021/11/25/another-professional-footballer-player-suddenly-collapses-in-the-middle-of-a-game/">innumerable incidents</a> in recent weeks and months of footballers suddenly collapsing on the pitch or fans suffering heart problems in the stands.
German newspaper Berliner Zeitung recently published a report <a href="https://summit.news/2021/11/09/german-newspaper-highlights-unusually-large-number-of-soccer-players-who-have-collapsed-recently/">seeking to answer</a> why an “unusually large number of professional and amateur soccer players have collapsed recently.”
According to a <a href="https://stephenc.substack.com/p/5-fold-increase-in-sudden-cardiac">report</a> by Dr. Yaffa Shir-Raz, there has been a “5-fold increase in sudden cardiac deaths of FIFA players in 2021.”

Although speculation has raged as to whether COVID-19 vaccines, the side-effects of which include myocarditis, have anything to do with the incidents, ‘fact checkers’ have thankfully put this to bed.
Twitter has been running a Reuters ‘fact check’ in its ‘what’s happening’ tab for the past few days vehemently dismissing any connection.
According to a Daily Mail <a href="https://summit.news/2021/11/29/media-says-rise-in-football-players-suddenly-collapsing-is-a-coincidence/">investigation</a>, “It’s terrifying but it’s a COINCIDENCE” and there is not need for “panic.”
The report claims that, “A spate of high-profile heart problems and collapses among professional footballers in recent weeks are likely to be coincidence, rather than an indication players are struggling to cope with the high-intensity game, according to a leading cardiologist.”
Phew, thank God for that!
Now maybe ex-pro-s like Trevor Sinclair can stop asking awkward questions about the subject on live radio, then it wouldn’t be necessary to clumsily attempt to censor them in real time.

FT Says “Anti-Vax Sentiment” in the West Being Fueled by Russia & China

In a report that advocates governments using “psychological operations” against their own population, the Financial Times asserts, with no proof, that Russia and China are responsible for pushing “anti-vax sentiment” and criticism of lockdown measures in the west.
The <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/1e030bbb-a074-4fbd-94c5-94fe579a9a8a">article</a> quotes Mikael Tofvesson, head of the Swedish Navy’s new Psyops division, who says “foreign aggressors” are trying to “sow division by targeting areas of public concern such as crime, Covid vaccinations, the government’s response to the pandemic, and immigration.”
“The most important task in psychological defence is to inoculate the population against believing false information,” states the article, which is written by Elisabeth Braw of the American Enterprise Institute, a neo-con think tank.
Such measures were deployed in the United Kingdom during the first lockdown, when scientists in the UK working as advisors for the government <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/05/14/scientists-admit-totalitarian-use-fear-control-behaviour-covid/">admitted</a> using what they now admit to be “unethical” and “totalitarian” methods of instilling fear in the population in order to control behavior during the pandemic.
One scientist with the SPI-B admitted that, “In March [2020] the Government was very worried about compliance and they thought people wouldn’t want to be locked down. There were discussions about fear being needed to encourage compliance, and decisions were made about how to ramp up the fear.”
Of course, contrary to the claims in the article, the primary goal of psychological operations, whether directed against an enemy or a domestic population, is to instill fear and change behavior – telling the truth is hardly a priority.
Far from dispelling “false information,” psychological operations routinely rely on using false information to influence and manipulate “the enemy.”

“Psychological operations have long been a part of military operations, and are typically defined as the use of propaganda and other methods to influence the attitudes and behavior of foreign adversaries,” <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2022/01/12/financial-times-psy-ops-are-crucial-weapon-against-disinformation/">writes</a> Allum Bokhari.
“What the FT is advocating — and what many have long suspected — is the use of these techniques by western military, security, and intelligence forces against their own citizens.”
“Hostile states including Russia, China and Iran have increased their use of disinformation and online propaganda to amplify anti-vax sentiment and foment political tensions in Europe and the US,” Braw claims.
However, the report contains no evidence whatsoever that Russia and China are responsible for any coordinated attempt to sow doubts about COVID-19 vaccines or lockdown measures.
Indeed, the mere fact that the newspaper complains about “disinformation” in the context of COVID-19 conspiracy theories is pretty rich given that the constantly invoked ‘Russian collusion’ charge is itself a baseless conspiracy theory.
In reality, concerns about vaccine side-effects, giving vaccines to children and mandating vaccines and COVID passports as part of the growing bio-security police state are perfectly valid concerns shared by millions of people across the west.
The FT is a staunchly globalist newspaper of record for the international elite and is routinely represented at the annual Bilderberg conference.
It can hardly be trusted to represent the interests of the common man.

MSNBC hack Joy Reid took a break from race baiting Thursday night to once again call for any one who remains unvaccinated to be denied medical care and for them to be made into an underclass.
Along with MSNBC medical contributor and apparent Dr Fauci fangirl Dr. Lipi Roy, Reid first attacked Senator Rand Paul for <a href="https://summit.news/2022/01/13/rand-paul-labels-fauci-juvenile-political-creature-for-playing-the-victim/">again daring to question Anthony Fauci.</a>
The pair accused Paul of displaying “insane, atrocious vitriol,” and suggested that the Senator, who is a qualified physician, is not really doctor, reasoning that “he does not exude any of the qualities that doctors and nurses possess, empathy, compassion, and a penchant for science and data to drive health care policies.”
Reid claimed that Paul “create[d] his own accreditation” and “didn’t get it from, like, a regular place,” so “I wouldn’t let him operate on me if I was desperate.”
Roy asserted that Paul’s attempted takedowns of Fauci have prompted “people like me and my fellow health care professionals double down on what we are doing.”
The pair then discussed what can be done to punish the unvaccinated, suggesting that they should be <a href="https://summit.news/2022/01/11/ikea-says-it-will-cut-sick-pay-for-the-unvaccinated/">paid less sick pay in their jobs</a>, and treated the same way smokers are and charged “up to 50 percent more” for health insurance.
Roy also suggested that if the unvaccinated need medical attention, they should be placed on “a triage list” and not attended to as a priority.
“We still need to get them vaccinated,” Roy declared, adding “I think we need to find other measures and mandates and other measures to really get them to get vaccinated.”

You pay for that risk. Don’t make the rest of us have to pay for it and lose our health system.”

Is Covax finally going to vaccinate the world?

Last September, the World Health Organization and the United Nations laid out a <a href="http://who.int/news/item/07-10-2021-who-un-set-out-steps-to-meet-world-covid-vaccination-targets">roadmap</a> to end the pandemic. The key goal: having every country in the world achieve at least 40 percent vaccination coverage against Covid-19 by the end of 2021, and 70 percent by mid-2022.
One major player in that effort has been Covax. A global vaccine distribution project co-led by the WHO, Covax was <a href="https://www.gavi.org/vaccineswork/covax-explained">billed</a> by one sponsor as the “world’s best hope of bringing the acute phase of this pandemic to a swift end.” However, it has been plagued with <a href="https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/22440986/covax-challenges-covid-19-vaccines-global-inequity">problems</a> since its inception — <a href="https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/22440986/covax-challenges-covid-19-vaccines-global-inequity">namely insufficient funds, insufficient supply, and insufficient willingness</a> from rich countries to share vaccines. These <a href="https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/22440986/covax-challenges-covid-19-vaccines-global-inequity">struggles</a> have hampered the global fight against Covid-19.
But there’s a glimmer of hope. Covax ended the year strong: December brought a last-minute <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/01/01/covid-covax-doses-delivered/">surge</a> of deliveries, with about 300 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines shipped to 144 mostly low- and middle-income countries. That is roughly a third of the total of vaccine doses Covax delivered in 2021 — in only one month.

As the Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/01/01/covid-covax-doses-delivered/">reported</a>, much of this surge can be attributed to an increase in the supply of vaccine doses to Covax, particularly with long-delayed donations from high-income countries and pharmaceutical companies like Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer, and BioNTech.
That’s welcome news, not just for the countries that received them, but also for the world. <a href="https://www.who.int/campaigns/vaccine-equity">Vaccine equity</a> would most directly prevent sickness and death in low- and middle-income countries, but it would also give the virus <a href="https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/22598415/covid-vaccinate-world-virus-variant-delta-lambda">fewer opportunities to mutate</a> and produce variants like delta and omicron.
Even with the late surge, though, the total number of vaccines delivered in 2021 — 900 million — amounts to less than half of <a href="https://www.unicef.org/press-releases/covax-joint-statement-call-action-equip-covax-deliver-2-billion-doses-2021-0">Covax’s original target</a> of sending at least 2 billion doses by the end of 2021. “We’re very far from the 70 percent vaccination rate in low-income countries,” says Amanda Glassman, a senior fellow at the Center for Global Development, adding that reaching that level soon would require a “huge lift” in terms of <a href="https://www.who.int/news/item/28-10-2021-new-act-accelerator-strategy-calls-investment">financing</a> for booster doses and delivery. “We’re still not serious as a world about paying for the stuff and getting it done.”
Almost <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/world/covid-vaccinations-tracker.html">three-fourths of all Covid-19 vaccine shots</a> administered thus far have gone into the arms of people in high- and upper-middle-income countries, with <a href="https://ig.ft.com/coronavirus-vaccine-tracker/?areas=gbr&areas=isr&areas=usa&areas=eue&areas=are&areas=chn&areas=chl&cumulative=1&doses=total&populationAdjusted=1">more booster doses in high-income countries having been administered than total doses</a> in low-income countries. While <a href="https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations?country=OWID_WRL">59.4 percent of the global population</a> has received at least one dose so far, only <a href="https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations">9.5 percent of people in low-income countries</a> have received that much coverage. Experts have denounced this state of affairs as the product of <a href="https://www.vox.com/21327487/covid-19-vaccine-coronavirus-trump-us-china-competition">nationalism</a> and extreme global <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/11/28/1059649438/as-new-covid-19-variant-spreads-human-rights-lawyer-points-to-vaccine-apartheid">inequality</a>.

Nevertheless, this late 2021 surge in vaccine deliveries could be a hopeful sign that a key vessel for global vaccination efforts is finally righting itself. With improvements in supply and delivery, Covax has the potential to help the world reach greater vaccination coverage. But all of this hinges on Covax getting this right — and that few further storms appear on the horizon for the project.
Covax is an initiative led by three groups. There’s the WHO; Gavi, a public-private group that works on getting people in developing countries vaccinated; and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, a project co-founded by the Gates Foundation that seeks to make vaccines available in the event of outbreaks. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is also organizing the delivery of vaccines.
Rich countries <a href="https://time.com/6096172/covax-vaccines-what-went-wrong/">were supposed</a> to pool funding through Covax to negotiate deals for and finance multiple vaccine candidates, increasing the chances of effective ones being developed. At the same time, some of that financing was intended to allow Covax itself to purchase vaccines for poorer countries that couldn’t afford them. In addition, Covax was also supposed to gather vaccines via donations from nonprofits, businesses, and countries, in order to further shore up its supply.
But all that didn’t quite pan out. Rich countries <a href="https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/22440986/covax-challenges-covid-19-vaccines-global-inequity">not only faltered</a> in their funding commitments to Covax, they also struck their own bilateral deals with pharmaceutical companies, even as Covax was still fundraising. That left the group with little supply to buy once it did raise funds. And even when rich nations amassed more vaccines than they needed, they <a href="https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3159712/covax-chief-warns-against-replay-covid-19-vaccine-nationalism?module=perpetual_scroll_0&pgtype=article&campaign=3159712">were slow</a> to donate the extras.

Pharmaceutical companies similarly underdelivered on the <a href="https://www.oxfam.org/en/press-releases/pharmaceutical-companies-and-rich-nations-delivering-just-one-seven-doses-promised">commitments they had made</a> to Covax. A <a href="https://app.box.com/s/hk2ezb71vf0sla719jx34v0ehs0l22os">report</a> by the People’s Vaccine Alliance — a coalition of organizations and activists campaigning for the sharing of knowledge and technology related to Covid-19 vaccines, treatments, and tests — found that neither AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, nor Johnson and Johnson “have sold more than 25 percent of their vaccine supply (agreed through contracts)” to Covax as of October 2021.
Groups like Oxfam International <a href="https://www.oxfam.org/en/press-releases/pharmaceutical-companies-and-rich-nations-delivering-just-one-seven-doses-promised">suspect</a> this is because these companies “put their rich customers at the front of the line.” And when vaccine doses finally did make it to poorer countries, <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2021/12/30/too-many-covid-19-vaccine-doses-are-being-wasted">too many of them</a> were <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/minister-says-nigeria-had-only-weeks-use-some-donated-vaccines-2021-12-08/">close to expiration</a>, leaving little time to get shots into arms. A <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2021/10/08/how-covax-failed-on-its-promise-to-vaccinate-the-world/">joint investigation</a> in October by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and Stat News also found that Covax had contributed less than 5 percent of all vaccines administered globally.
“The reality is that Covax purchased a bit later than the high-income countries, and bet on Indian manufacturers given their limited resources,” Glassman says. When those Indian vaccines failed to pan out because of the devastating delta surge in that country, another expected source of doses dried up. “It’s not surprising that they didn’t get the deliveries they hoped for during [2021].”
But if Covax’s performance to date has been underwhelming, the surge in activity in late 2021 has renewed hopes that it’s turned the corner.
Olly Cann, director of communications at Gavi, believes that the end-of-year surge in shipments is indeed a hopeful sign that the pace of vaccine distribution will pick up for Covax this year. “We do have genuine momentum when it comes to delivering doses into the countries that we serve,” he says. “We’re now in a situation where we can now meet the demand” of the low- and middle-income countries that Covax is prioritizing.
A major reason for that optimism is in seeing positive signs in India, a <a href="https://fortune.com/2021/09/23/india-worlds-biggest-vaccine-manufacturer-15-percent-vaccinated-covid/">major vaccine producer</a> and the main supplier of vaccines to Covax. Due to the devastating <a href="https://www.vox.com/coronavirus-covid19/22628806/india-covid-19-cases-deaths-delta-variant">second wave of Covid-19 that hit India last spring</a>, the country focused its efforts on vaccinating its own citizens and had banned exports of doses, which Cann notes was “a severe blow to us at the time.”
The country finally <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/india/indias-serum-institute-resumes-covishield-vaccine-exports-under-covax-facility-2021-11-26/">resumed exports to Covax</a> at the end of November. Along with the WHO’s long-awaited <a href="https://www.science.org/content/article/novavax-s-long-awaited-covid-19-vaccine-authorizations-offer-alternative-mrna">emergency approval</a> of the vaccine developed by US-based Novavax, whose manufacturing partner for Covax is the Serum Institute of India. and which doesn’t require the cold storage needed by mRNA vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech, Covax is “back in business,” Glassman says.
She expects India’s shipments to Covax to continue for the next three months at least, adding that even with Omicron, India may not need to resort to export bans again now that <a href="https://graphics.reuters.com/world-coronavirus-tracker-and-maps/vaccination-rollout-and-access/">62 percent of Indians have received at least one dose</a>.
Another problem with Covax is that it was initially developed as a procurement and shipping effort for vaccines, but not a delivery effort — meaning actually getting shots into arms. “Waiting for a delivery is a big deal, obviously, because the longer the wait, the more disease and deaths there will be,” Glassman says.
But Covax deliveries are now ramping up, as shipments from India are finally reaching recipient countries and also because the international community is finally starting to address this problem of delivery. Glassman also notes that last month, Covax’s leadership <a href="https://www.unicef.org/press-releases/unicef-and-who-partnership-gavi-ask-ted-chaiban-serve-global-lead-coordinator-covid">appointed</a> Ted Chaiban, the regional director for the Middle East and North Africa for Unicef, to serve as the organization’s global coordinator for vaccine readiness and delivery. In her view, this reflects a shift in Covax’s strategy toward actually administering vaccines in recipient countries.

Despite the recent good news, it’s highly unlikely that Covax will enable the WHO to reach its goal of 70 percent global vaccination by mid-year. While supply constraints have eased, financing is still a challenge, as high-income countries have remained <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/2021-vaccine-inequity/">unwilling</a> to share enough funds or resources for low- and middle-income countries to acquire or make the vaccines themselves.
But there are also questions about how practical that 70 percent vaccination coverage threshold is — both for the rich nations meant to be funding Covax and the poorer countries meant to receive vaccines. Governments in lower-income countries with younger populations (who are less susceptible to hospitalization and death from Covid-19) are overwhelmed by many competing priorities, such as poverty, hunger, and other diseases like HIV/AIDS and malaria. Glassman and Cann both mentioned that the 70 percent vaccination goal may not just be out of reach, but also simply not the best allocation of limited resources.
Cann also notes that Covax was never meant to be the solitary silver bullet to solve the issue of vaccine equity.
“What we were set up to do was to cover the most vulnerable groups as quickly as possible,” Cann says. “That’s why we initially focused on the 20 percent coverage of the [highest priority low- and middle-income recipient] countries. This is roughly 950 million doses. We’re actually quite close to this now, and we’ll have delivered that number in the coming days, if not weeks.”
Meeting its goals will also depend on whether Covax will be pushed down the priority list again <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/03/31/world/global-vaccine-supply-inequity.html">in favor of</a> high-income countries, as the latter now aim to <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2021/12/13/we-have-enough-covid-vaccines-for-most-of-world-but-rich-countries-stockpiling-more-than-they-need/">shore up supplies of vaccines</a> to administer booster shots for their populations.
“The big problem we’ve had, and still to a degree do, is that it’s been very, very hard to get transparency from manufacturers on when doses are going to be coming to us,” Cann says. “It’s difficult for us to be confident that we’re not being pushed to the back of the queue, or being deprioritized over bilateral deals.”
Ultimately, Glassman believes that the optimistic scenario is that there are “orders in place, there’s manufacturing under way to meet those orders, and then it’s just a matter of time and effort for the shots to get from airports into arms.”
Covax has a long way to go though if it wants to achieve the WHO’s goal, and it’s likely the poorest countries in the world won’t achieve 70 percent vaccination <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01762-w">until 2023</a> at current rates of delivery.
That said, countries in the Global South also may not need to keep waiting on Covax. They are already pursuing other avenues to vaccinate their populations, from pushing for a <a href="https://msfaccess.org/one-year-after-first-shot-pharma-must-urgently-share-tech-covid-19-vaccines">patent waiver</a> at the World Trade Organization to encourage technology transfer, to shoring up their own <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/south-africas-biovac-start-making-pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine-early-2022-2021-12-06/">domestic manufacturing</a> capabilities (including for <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/10/19/1047411856/the-great-vaccine-bake-off-has-begun">mRNA vaccines</a>) to seeking out other vaccine sources.
And there was one more development of note at the very end of 2021: <a href="https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-covid-vaccine-for-all/">CORBEVAX</a>, a vaccine created by Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, was licensed for use without patents and had its technology transferred immediately to Biological E. Limited, an Indian pharmaceutical manufacturer. One of the key people behind the project, Dr. Peter Hotez, <a href="https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-covid-vaccine-for-all/">claimed available CORBEVAX doses will soon surpass</a> in number the vaccine doses donated so far by the US government or any other G7 country.
Given the enormous need — both to protect vulnerable people in the poorest nations and prevent the rise of new variants — the world must pursue every possible channel to get shots into arms and truly end the Covid-19 pandemic. Though Covax is showing signs of turning the corner, it may end up playing a smaller role than what the international community had originally envisioned for it in 2020.
