The Republican Party of 2016 is now forced to face reality- either it must change or it will perish.
That is where Donald Trump comes in.
Love him or hate him, Mr. Trump is the wildcard candidate for this election. The “establishment Republicans,” or who radio talk show host Michael Savage has called “Republicrats” (and likewise for the Democrats, “Demicans”), are in terminal decline. The “neoconservative” movement is, essentially, a club for a few well-connected individuals who are not so much members because they possess real qualifications, but because once the political talk has ceased, everybody is friends with each other any they all enjoy indulging themselves off of the taxpayer’s dollars.

Mr. Trump certainly has done this too, but the problem is he is not in the club– that is why he is not liked. This isn’t about principles, politics, or “the right thing”- this is a popularity context, and Trump has done a spectacular job crashing the party- so spectacular that he has captured what remains of the GOP base and even those who are not Republicans. Apparently, they think that the Republican party should just follow along with their nominations- which will likely lose because they are choosing- losers.
The people have voted with their feet, and their vote is clear- Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.
Donald Trump- the “people’s choice”
So what have the “establishment” Republicans chosen do to about it? Vote for Hilary Clinton. Yes, that is correct- go against their own party all because they are mad they cannot have things their way. From The Intercept:
Donald Trump’s runaway success in the GOP primaries so far is setting off alarm bells among neoconservatives who are worried he will not pursue the same bellicose foreign policy that has dominated Republican thinking for decades.
Neoconservative historian Robert Kagan — one of the prime intellectual backers of the Iraq War and an advocate for Syrian intervention — announced in the Washington Post last week that if Trump secures the nomination, “the only choice will be to vote for Hillary Clinton.”
Max Boot, an unrepentant supporter of the Iraq War, wrote in the Weekly Standard that a “Trump presidency would represent the death knell of America as a great power,” citing, among other things, Trump’s objection to a large American troop presence in South Korea.
Zero Hedge also reported similarly:
Some senior Republicans have said privately that they might consider voting for Mrs Clinton if Mr Trump were to end up as their party nominee. “You’ll see a lot of Republicans do that,” Christine Whitman, the former New Jersey governor who previously compared Mr Trump to Hitler, told the New Jersey Star-Ledger.
“We don’t want to. But I know I won’t vote for Trump.”
And there you have it- the establishment would rather choose suicide rather than admit that the world is changing around them and people want to try something different. If they are that intent on destroying Mr. Trump’s campaign and Hilary does get elected, establishment Republicans will deserve whatever happens to them.
