Triumph the Insult Comic Dog puppet is rude, crude, vulgar, and outright crass. Originally a part of the Conan O’Brien show, he and his creator, Robert Smigel, is the Andrew Dice Clay/Carlos Mencia of the puppet world. Nevertheless, he is very popular and is often used to discuss sensitive issues is way that is both comedic and intentionally provocative.
During the closing of the New Hampshire primaries, Robert Smigel did a typical “Triumph” routine with college students. Keep in mind famed comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s words about the decline of humor, especially at college campuses over perceived “sensitivity” and political correctness charges, and watch the reactions of the students:
I can’t blame some of the students for feeling uncomfortable. But at the same time, these students had to have known what they were getting into.
Their reactions, and the point of this, was to show that these students are indicative of a society in which PC trumps the ability to speak honestly and directly about potentially offensive matters. After all, the very idea of political correctness was born from Marxism.
Today speaking about homosexuality is becoming less and less tolerated in the name of PC and will be eventually criminalized, as it has become in certain countries. Tomorrow it will be Islam. The day after, it may even be the Catholic Faith.
Never think it could happen in America? So thought Russia prior to 1917 and until 1991:
“There is no God”
The old woman says: Without God there is no limit!
TV: But the clear light of science has proven there is no God!
“Religion is poison administered to children”
“The battle against religion is the battle for Socialism”
Without a revolutionary theory there cannot be a revolutionary movement. -V.I. Lenin
