A woman in Utah is lucky to be alive after she had her throat slit by a psychotic homeless man she invited inside her home to shower.
Police responded to the incident which happened last week at an apartment building in Salt Lake City, where they’d received a report of a woman “bleeding heavy.”
[embedded content]“The woman told police that she had led a man into her residence – it’s unclear if the man and the woman knew each other – and it’s reported that the man attacked the woman and then fled the scene,” Salt Lake City Police Detective Michelle Mechling told Fox 13 Utah.
In a press release Saturday, SLCPD reported they’d captured 30-year-old suspect Eric Jones, who’s accused of “cutting a woman’s throat inside her residence in what appears to be a random attack.”
Police report after the victim required emergency surgery, doctors upgraded her condition from critical to stable.
“During the investigation, the victim told SLCPD she let the suspect inside her residence so he could shower. The woman described the suspect as being homeless,” the department wrote.
Detective Mechling says the woman’s tragic incident is a cautionary tale to be aware of who you’re inviting inside your home:
“It goes along with – know who you’re letting into your house and don’t let people who you aren’t sure of into your house.”
