The writers on ‘Homeland’ are acutely aware of the vast gulf that exists between what people think and what politicians would have them believe. We are not allowed to think that anything intrinsic to Islam perpetuates these atrocities. Peter Quinn, the CIA hit man on Homeland, put it in a remarkably prescient episode from the current series: “They (ISIS) have a clear strategy. A strategy which includes beheadings, crucifixions, and the revival of slavery, and it all derives from their f*cking book, the only book they ever read (the quran).”
