Racist graffiti directed toward black high schoolers was evidently scrawled by African American students, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.
Releasing details of their investigation into the vandalism, which crudely stated, “All N***** should die,” the sheriff’s office said they worked closely with school administrators and reviewed surveillance footage to determine the culprits.
On Tuesday, 3/22/2022, at approximately 5:14 p.m. school officials at Rosemont High School, Sacramento City Unified School District in the County of Sacramento reported racist graffiti that had been written in pencil on the wall of a hallway inside a campus building. Two Rosemont High School students were observed writing a racial obscenity. The pencil graffiti resulted in minimal physical damage.
The case was referred to detectives who worked closely with the school district and administrators. Rosemont High School Administrators were able to obtain video surveillance footage showing two African-American female juveniles clearly writing the graffiti on the wall. From the video, school officials and detectives learned the identities of both students.
The Sheriff’s Office said it would look into whether the hate hoax warrants criminal charges.
The incident is reminiscent of the hate hoax saga that engulfed disgraced actor Jussie Smollett, who made false police reports after staging his own beating with the help of two friends.
