The United States is charging pastor Corrigan Clay with child sex abuse after “engaging in illicit sexual conduct” with a Haitian orphan he adopted.
The American pastor moved to Haiti in 2015 with his wife where they “signed on with an orphanage, immersed themselves in the language and culture of the Haitian people, and took immediate steps to adopt one of the orphan children.”
Last week, the Daily Beast received an unsealed indictment showing Corrigan had been arrested by federal agents after allegedly engaging in the sexual misconduct for several years.
The Justice Department’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section are leading the prosecution.
In a now-deleted blog post, the Clinton-connected pastor once wrote about an underage Haitian girl who sent him a letter expressing her desire to sleep with him in return for financial help with her sister’s medical surgery.
Corrigan is the co-founder of the non-profit charity “Apparent Project”, which is a Clinton-connected group selling jewelry, clothing and art made by Haitian orphans.
In a 2011 post on the non-profit’s website, Corrigan bragged about former President Bill Clinton visiting him in Haiti and that his then-wife and Apparent Project co-founder Shelley Jean Clay attended a Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York City.
A 2013 post on the Clinton Foundation website details another connection between the Clintons and Corrigan, stating, “We respect all the norms of fair trade and our packaging is made of 100% recycled materials in collaboration with Paula Coles Haiti and The Apparent Project.”
Papillon Enterprise, another company started by Corrigan and his ex-wife Shelley, received $150,000 from the Clinton Foundation in 2013.
From 2013 to 2017, the Clinton foundation provided Papillon’s Haiti facility with solar power and helped it connect with retailers.
With the help of the Clintons, Papillon reached $1.2 million in revenue by 2016, according to Midwestern University.
The non-profit “Apparent Project” also partnered with the brands Gap and Disney, and has been supported by people like Kim Kardashian, Patricia Arquette, Olivia Wilde, Ben Stiller and Oprah Winfrey.
There is a reason #BillClintonIsARapist was the top trending Twitter term a few years ago.
