The top three Democrats in the country all called for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s resignation after a state investigation confirmed allegations of sexual harassment against him on Tuesday.

Joe Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer all called upon Cuomo to resign as governor.

When asked by a reporter if Cuomo should step down, Biden said, “Yes…I think he should resign.”

Likewise, Pelosi’s office released a statement calling for Cuomo to step down hours after N.Y. Attorney General Letitia James announced the probe’s findings.

“Recognizing his love of New York and the respect for the office he holds, I call upon the Governor to resign,” Pelosi said in a statement.

New York Democrat lawmakers Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand called for Cuomo to resign.

“No elected official is above the law. The people of New York deserve better leadership in the governor’s office. We continue to believe that the Governor should resign,” Schumer said in a statement.

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the findings of the four-month investigation into Cuomo on Tuesday, concluding Cuomo engaged in “unwanted groping, kissing, hugging and making inappropriate comments” to his female aides and others.

“The independent investigation has concluded that Governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and in doing so violated federal and state law,” James said.

These developments also come as Albany County district attorney’s office announced an ongoing criminal investigation into Cuomo’s sexual harassment conduct.

Though the Democrats likely realize the futility of coming to Cuomo’s defense at this point, Cuomo’s harassment probe was simply a distraction from his more severe crimes of killing tens of thousands of elderly New Yorkers by unleashing COVID-positive people into nursing homes across the state.
