Amazing aerial footage was taken as a fire from a ruptured offshore oil pipeline burned out of control in the Gulf of Mexico Friday.
Video filmed from an aircraft shows flames shooting out in the middle of the gulf before fire crews arrived to extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire at the Ku Maloob Zaap underwater pipeline, operated by Mexican energy firm Pemex, and there was reportedly no major impact on production.
In a statement provided to Reuters, Pemex wrote, “The turbomachinery of Ku Maloob Zaap’s active production facilities were affected by an electrical storm and heavy rains.”
