Washington, D.C. –The treasonous #47Traitors are now suspected felons and should be tried in a court of law for their crimes. However, the letter that was sent by the Republican Senate is much darker than simply breaking a law from 1799.

Let’s pretend that the Logan Act doesn’t exist for a second and that nearly half of the Senate didn’t break a federal law by sending this letter. The bigger crime here is that they are willing to undermine peace talks with Iran and risk thousands of American lives that could be lost in a war with them. The most ironic part of this whole fiasco is that it’s based on complete fabrications.

Iran does not have a nuclear bomb, they have signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act (an Act that nuclear armed Israel refuses to sign), and have repeatedly stated that they have no intention of building the bomb. Recently leaked documents from the Mossad show that Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netayahu, has been constantly lying about Iran’s nuclear capabilities for years. All his rhetoric is echoed by the letter-writing idiots in the Senate.

Speaker of the House, John Boehner, brought Bibi to preach war propaganda in front of the Congress despite the fact that just days prior to his speech he was proven to be a bold-faced liar by an anonymous whistleblower. Only a lunatic or a money hungry war monger would suggest that Iran has the intent of “wiping Israel off the map” with nuclear weapons. Considering that Israel houses the Dome of the Rock, one of Islam’s holiest sites, the idea that Iran’s Muslim government would bomb its own holy site is laughable.
To make matters worse, the Senator who penned the letter to Iran, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, met with lobbyists from the defense contracting industry within 24 hours of sending the letter. I guess we know who his masters are. He’s got a history of being a war hawk and has openly called for US military intervention in Iran. As The New Republic’s David Ramsey noted,
“Pick a topic — Syria, Iran, Russia, ISIS, drones, NSA snooping — and Cotton can be found at the hawkish outer edge of the debate … During his senate campaign, he told a tele-townhall that ISIS and Mexican drug cartels joining forces to attack Arkansas was an ‘urgent problem.’”
Starting to see this pattern of liars and greedy sociopaths that are always attempting to sabotage peace? It comes as no surprise, then, that the military-industrial complex — a group that benefits greatly from foreign intervention — also bankrolls these very same politicians. These lunatics are literally willing to spill the blood of countless American military members and thousands of innocent people in Iran for money. I thought the Republicans supported the troops? That’s an odd way of showing it.

Arresting the #47Traitors in the Senate for violating the Logan Act would be a good start, but these men are outright war criminals too. The idea has gotten to be a fairly popular over the last few days. A petition to have the 47 Senators who signed the letter charged with treason has accumulated nearly 170,000 signatures over the last two days, and the hashtag #47Traitors has been trending since last night.
