Newly-appointed GOP Chair Elise Stefanik claimed attempts by Joe Biden’s Justice Department to interfere in the Arizona election audit are “unconstitutional.”
Speaking on “Sunday Morning Futures”, Stefanik told host Maria Bartiromo that Biden should support the audit because it’s bringing much-needed transparency to the election process.
“I support that audit. Transparency is good for the American people,” Stefanik said Sunday. “And again, this should be a non-partisan issue, whether you are Republican, Democrat, Independent or conservative transparency is important.”
“And the audit was passed by the Arizona State Senate. The Biden Department of Justice is trying to block that audit,” she continued. “That is unconstitutional from my perspective. Our states, constitutionally, are responsible for writing states constitution law.”
The civil rights division of Biden’s DOJ had sent a letter to Arizona Senate President Karen Fann earlier this month demanding answers for how the state was conducting the Maricopa County audit.
The DOJ’s letter appears to have violated Article I, Section 4, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution, which states that the power to oversee elections is granted exclusively to the state legislatures.
The Maricopa County audit is still ongoing despite continued attempts by the Democrats to shut it down.
Joe Hoft of The Gateway Pundit joins The Alex Jones Show to break down the state of the Maricopa County vote audit, and how the mounting evidence points to voter fraud.
