Police are investigating an allegation of child rape in George. An 18-month-old baby boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by a male suspect last month.
The case was only recently reported to authorities after the little boy’s grandmother took him to hospital for an examination.
The police’s Malcolm Pojie says: "While we detained him on sexual assault case that is currently being investigated by the FCS (Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Investigations Unit) unit based in George. The allegation that has been made is currently under investigation and we’ve also confiscated two cellphones and as soon as the analysis is back we will pursue the investigation."
