Dubai:
Qatar's ambassador to Afghanistan said a technical team was able to reopen Kabul airport to receive aid and that it would be prepared for civilian flights soon, Al Jazeera reported on Saturday.
The runway at Kabul airport has been repaired in cooperation with authorities in Afghanistan, the ambassador said, according to Al Jazeera. The Qatari news channel also said two domestic flights were operated from Kabul to the cities of Mazar-i-Sharif and Kandahar.

Islamabad:
The Biden administration is quietly pressing Pakistan to cooperate on combating terrorist groups such as the ISIS-K and Al Qaeda following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, according to a set of leaked documents and diplomatic cables to a prominent US media outlet.
The Dawn newspaper on Saturday carried a report quoting a news report published on Friday by the Politico on a slew of diplomatic messages exchanged between Washington and Islamabad recently after the Taliban terrorists seized power in neighbouring Afghanistan.
The messages show that "the Biden administration is quietly pressing Pakistan to cooperate on fighting terrorist groups such as ISIS-Khorasan and Al Qaeda in the wake of the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan," the Politico, which obtained the sensitive but unclassified cables and other written materials, reported.
In response, Pakistan "has hinted that Islamabad deserves more public recognition of its role in helping people now fleeing Afghanistan, even as it has downplayed fears of what Taliban rule of the country could mean," according to the report.
The messages show that Washington sees Pakistan as "a nation with links to the Afghan Taliban whose cooperation on fighting terrorism can be helpful. It's also a nuclear-armed country American officials would prefer not to lose entirely to the Chinese influence," the report said.
China, the closest ally of Pakistan, has been coordinating closely with it on the emerging situation in war-torn Afghanistan since Islamabad is said to have some influence over the Taliban terrorists.
The Taliban seized power in Afghanistan on August 15, two weeks before the US' complete troop withdrawal on August 31 after a costly two-decade war. This forced Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to flee the country to the UAE.
The Taliban terrorists captured all major cities in Afghanistan in a matter of days, as Afghan security forces trained and equipped by the US and its allies melted away.
Thousands of Afghan nationals and foreigners have fled the country to escape the new Taliban regime and to seek asylum in different nations, including the US and many European nations, resulting in total chaos and deaths.
On Wednesday, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland included Pakistan on a list of countries that provided "critical support" to the US efforts in evacuation.
"We are enormously grateful to these countries, who have helped transit Americans and others to safety." Previous US statements had omitted Pakistan.
The exchanges between the US and Pakistan "suggest that the two governments are far from lockstep on the road ahead, even now that the United States has pulled its troops from Afghanistan," the Politico report observed.
In one discussion with an US official, Pakistan''s Ambassador to Washington Asad Majeed Khan appeared to question reports that the Taliban were carrying out revenge attacks in Afghanistan.
Quoting Pakistani "ground observations", Khan told the US officials that the Afghan Taliban "were not seeking retribution, and in fact they were going home to home to assure Afghans that there will not be reprisals."
The US State Department official, Ervin Massinga, however, said that "he has seen reports to the contrary and hopes the Taliban do not seek revenge."
The leaked documents include messages from the US Embassy, Islamabad, telling Washington that they were "being strained by the Afghan refugee crisis" and seeking guidance on how to deal with the situation.
The meeting between Massinga and Ambassador Khan took place on August 26, the day that some 170 Afghans and 13 US troops were killed in a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport by the ISIS.
US officials have blamed the attack on the ISIS group, seen as a rival of the Afghan Taliban. An official description of the meeting shows that Ambassador Khan offered condolences and the use of Pakistani medical facilities.
The US official, however, suggested that Pakistan could help on other fronts. "Acknowledging the tragedy, Mr Massinga underscored the mutual interest Pakistan and the United States have in targeting ISIS and Al Qaeda."
In response, Ambassador Khan "acknowledged ISIS was a common enemy for the Taliban as well."
Massinga expressed appreciation for Pakistan''s role in helping evacuees get out of Afghanistan, according to the meeting notes. The portions seen by Politico did not specify exactly what Pakistan was doing.
At one point in the talk, however, Ambassador "Khan intimated the Pakistani government would also appreciate public acknowledgment for the country's assistance on the evacuation front."
An August 20 statement of gratitude from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to several countries for their help in the evacuations did not mention Pakistan.
Aside from his questioning of the reports about Taliban reprisals, Khan also said that "the Taliban were not stopping any third country nationals from getting to [the Kabul airport] but acknowledged there were some issues with Afghans getting through checkpoints."
Khan also highlighted Pakistan's "effort in pushing the Taliban (while acknowledging it was increasingly difficult to get in contact with them) to form an inclusive government in Kabul."

Kabul:
Fresh fighting was reported Saturday between the Taliban and resistance forces in <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/afghanistan-crisis-live-updates-taliban-indicated-theyd-be-reasonable-in-addressing-our-concerns-says-india-2529333" target="_self">Afghanistan</a>'s Panjshir Valley, even as the hardline Islamists finalise a new government that will set the tone for their rule.
Facing the challenge of morphing from insurgents to rulers, the Taliban appear determined to snuff out the Panjshir resistance before announcing who will lead the country in the aftermath of Monday's US troop withdrawal, which was supposed to end two decades of war.
But Panjshir, which held out for nearly a decade against the Soviet Union's occupation and also the Taliban's first rule from 1996-2001, is stubbornly holding out.
Fighters from the so-called National Resistance Front (NRF) -- made up of anti-Taliban militia and former Afghan security forces -- are understood to have stockpiled a significant armoury in the valley, around 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Kabul and guarded by a narrow gorge.
'Under Invasion'
Celebratory gunfire rang out in the capital Kabul overnight as rumours spread the valley had fallen, but the Taliban made no official claim Saturday and a resident told AFP by phone that the reports were false.
The Emergency Hospital in Kabul said two people were killed and 20 wounded by the salvos, as the Taliban tweeted a stern admonishment warning its fighters to stop.
"Avoid firing in the air and thank God instead," said chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, tipped to become the new regime's information minister.
"The weapons and bullets given to you are public property. No one has the right to waste them. The bullets can also harm civilians, don't shoot in vain."
In Panjshir, former vice-president Amrullah Saleh, holed out alongside Ahmad Massoud -- the son of legendary anti-Taliban commander Ahmad Shah Massoud -- admitted the perilous position of the NRF.
"The situation is difficult, we have been under invasion," Saleh said in a video message.
Usually known for his sharp Western suits, Saleh was filmed wearing a traditional shalwar kameez tunic and a flat woollen pakol cap favoured by Panjshiris.
"The resistance is continuing and will continue," he added.
Taliban and resistance tweets suggested the key district of Paryan had changed hands several times in the last few days, but that also could not be independently verified.
Aid Talks
Away from the valley, the international community was coming to terms with having to deal with the new Taliban regime with a flurry of diplomacy.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is due on Sunday in Qatar, a key player in the Afghan saga and the location of the Taliban's political office, though he is not expected to meet with them.
He will then travel to Germany, to lead a virtual 20-nation ministerial meeting on Afghanistan alongside German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
Pakistan's intelligence chief Faiz Hameed was in Kabul, meanwhile. Hameed was reportedly in the city to be briefed by his country's ambassador but is also likely to meet top Taliban officials with whom Islamabad has historically had very close relations.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is also set to convene a high-level meeting on Afghanistan in Geneva on September 13, to focus on humanitarian assistance for the country.
The United Nations has already restarted humanitarian flights to parts of Afghanistan, while the country's flag carrier Ariana Afghan Airlines resumed domestic flights on Friday and the United Arab Emirates sent a plane carrying "urgent medical and food aid".
Western Union and Moneygram, meanwhile, said they were restarting cash transfers, which many Afghans rely on from relatives abroad to survive.
China has already confirmed it will keep its embassy in Kabul open.
Afghanistan's new rulers have pledged to be more accommodating than during their first stint in power, which also came after years of conflict -- first the Soviet invasion of 1979, and then a bloody civil war.
That regime was notorious for its brutal interpretation of Islamic law, and its treatment of women, who were forced inside and denied access to school and work.
This time around, the Taliban have made repeated declarations that they will not carry out revenge attacks on opponents, and women will have access to education and some employment.
They have promised a more "inclusive" government that represents Afghanistan's complex ethnic makeup -- though women are unlikely to be included at the top levels.
In Kabul, dozens of women protested for a second day Saturday to demand the right to work and inclusion in the government.
Social media clips showed Taliban terrorists and officials attempting to disperse the protesters and stopping people from filming with mobile phones.

At least 17 people were killed in celebratory gunfire in Kabul, news agencies said on Saturday, after Taliban sources said their fighters had seized control of Panjshir, the last province in Afghanistan holding out against the Islamist group.
Leaders of opposition to the Taliban have denied that the province has fallen.
The Shamshad news agency said "aerial shooting" in Kabul on Friday killed 17 people and wounded 41. Tolo news agency gave a similar death count.
At least 14 people were injured in celebratory firing in Nangarhar province east of the capital, said Gulzada Sangar, spokesman for an area hospital in the provincial capital of Jalalabad.
The gunfire drew a rebuke from the main Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid.
"Avoid shooting in the air and thank God instead," Mujahid said in a message on Twitter. "Bullets can harm civilians, so don't shoot unnecessarily."

Zurich:
The United Nations will convene an international aid conference in Geneva on September 13 to help avert what UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called a "looming humanitarian catastrophe".
"We need the international community to stand together and support the Afghan people," Guterres said in a post on Twitter announcing the conference that he said would seek a swift scale-up in funding for humanitarian relief.
"We also appeal for full and unimpeded humanitarian access to make sure Afghans continue to get the essential services they need," he said.
Many Afghans were struggling to feed their families amid severe drought well before Taliban terrorists seized power last month and millions may now face starvation with the country isolated and the economy unravelling, aid agencies say.
"The United Nations stands in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and is committed to staying and delivering for them," Guterres said.

Wow! CDC Gives Incoming Refugees Nobel Prize-Winning Ivermectin

All Middle Eastern, Asian, North African, Latin American, and Caribbean refugees entering the U.S. since 2019 have been prescribed ivermectin.
The CDC recommendation advises doctors working for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), who screen refugees in their home countries, and American doctors who treat them when they arrive to prescribe both ivermectin and albendazole.

Since <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/guidelines/overseas-guidelines.html" target="_blank">the CDC guidance</a> was released pre-Covid, naysayers will point out the ivermectin was prescribed for parasites and not for Covid-19, and presume the drug probably doesn’t work against viral infections.
Ivermectin’s creators <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/medicine/2015/press-release/" target="_blank">won a Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015</a> for the drug’s ability to battle infections caused by roundworm parasites.
As Tokyo, Japan’s top health official <a href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/now-is-the-time-to-use-ivermectin-tokyos-medical-assoc-chairman-recommends-ivermectin-to-all-doctors-to-treat-covid/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dr. Haruo Ozaki recently explained</a>, “In Africa, if we compare countries distributing ivermectin once a year with countries which do not give ivermectin…I mean, they don’t give ivermectin to prevent Covid, but to prevent parasitic diseases…but anyway, if we look at Covid numbers in countries that give ivermectin, the number of cases is 134.4 per 100,000, and the number of death is 2.2 in 100,000.”
He continued, “Now, African countries which do not distribute ivermectin: 950.6 cases per 100,000 and 29.3 deaths per 100,000. I believe the difference is clear.”
<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://c19ivermectin.com/" target="_blank">Several studies show ivermectin actually is effective at treating Covid-19</a>, but what this information truly exposes is the current media and government demonization campaign against it.
Despite media cries of “<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/horse-paste-ivermectin-flccc_n_612d1980e4b02be25b5edd15" target="_blank">people eating horse paste</a>” and several stories about an increase in poison control calls from people misusing the drug, the CDC has been giving it to refugees for at least two years.
By the way, <a href="https://www.fox9.com/news/ivermectin-poison-control-calls-increase-in-minnesota-in-august-amid-covid-19-misinformation" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a Fox 9 Minnesota story</a> lists possible symptoms of an ivermectin “overdose” as “nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, decreased consciousness, hallucinations, seizures, coma, and death.”
However, not a single person in the United States has died from a Covid-related ivermectin overdose.
Plus, the majority of people resorting to the horse version of ivermectin are doing so because the attacks on the drug have convinced many doctors and pharmacies not to prescribe or carry it.
The establishment is even upset that celebrities like top podcast host Joe Rogan and “Cheers” star Kirstie Alley <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/cheers-star-kirstie-alley-70-says-she-used-ivermectin-joe-rogan-protocol-to-treat-covid-and-recovered-in-12-days/" target="_blank">have touted the drug as helping them defeat Covid.</a>
The CDC is obviously aware that the drug is safe for people to use as it’s physicians prescribe it to refugees just as tens of thousands of doctors across the U.S. are now giving it to patients for Covid.
So, why is mainstream media and a government agency like the FDA scaring Americans out of a treatment that could help them with the virus?

The FDA’s website explains, “Certain animal formulations of ivermectin such as pour-on, injectable, paste, and ‘drench,’ are approved in the U.S. to treat or prevent parasites in animals. For humans, ivermectin tablets are approved at very specific doses to treat some parasitic worms, and there are topical (on the skin) formulations for head lice and skin conditions like rosacea.”
Well, no doctors are prescribing ivermectin animal formulations to their patients, and the government and media both know this.
Perhaps it’s because the FDA, which is “virtually controlled by Pfizer” <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://twitter.com/osler78/status/1431527696337674242" target="_blank">according to President Trump</a>, is currently developing <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/pfizer-is-now-developing-a-twice-per-day-covid-pill-that-must-be-taken-alongside-vaccines/" target="_blank">their own Covid drug</a> to be taken twice a day alongside their vaccine.
Merck, the company that produces ivermectin, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/pfizer-is-now-developing-a-twice-per-day-covid-pill-that-must-be-taken-alongside-vaccines/" target="_blank">is also developing a drug to treat Covid</a> which will make them much more money than the cheap antiviral ivermectin.
On June 9, Merck <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210609005142/en/Merck-Announces-Supply-Agreement-with-U.S.-Government-for-Molnupiravir-an-Investigational-Oral-Antiviral-Candidate-for-Treatment-of-Mild-to-Moderate-COVID-19" target="_blank">revealed</a> that the U.S. government is paying the company $1.2 billion to supply 1.7 million courses of the new drug to federal government.
Or, it could be that the Covid vaccines still being used under Emergency Use Authorization would no longer have that emergency approval if a legitimate low-risk treatment were available.
Follow the money and stop paying attention to establishment media.
