<p><img alt="Armed man with fake suicide belt and ISIS flag shot by Paris Police" class="aligncenter" height="260" src="http://speisa.com/uploads/img568eaf8b16c8b.jpg" width="495" /></p> <p> </p> <p>A man was shot dead by police officers in Barbes, northern Paris, <a title="" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3388512/Man-shot-outside-Paris-police-station-terrorist-attack-anniversary-Charlie-Hebdo-shootings.html" target="_blank" rel="external">Daily Mail</a> reports.</p> <p>The armed man wearing a fake suicide belt who was shot dead trying to attack a police station in Paris was carrying a letter where he pledged allegiance to ISIS.</p> <p>The man had been trying to enter the police station in Barbes, northern Paris, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ and threatening officers with a knife on the anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo attacks.</p> <p>The convicted thief was carrying a mobile phone and a sheet of paper showing the black flag of ISIS, and claims of responsibility written in Arabic, the Paris prosecutor said in a statement.</p> <p>‘A mobile phone and a piece of paper, on which appear the Daesh flag and a clear written claim in Arabic, were found on the individual,’ prosecutor Francois Molins said, referring to the Arabic acronym for ISIS.</p> <p>French officials say the man was wearing a belt made out to look like a suicide vest, but a bomb-disposal unit has since confirmed that it was a fake.</p> <p>Police have cleared hundreds of people from the neighborhood, an area where a significant percentage of residents have multi-ethnic or immigrant background, amid fears that other assailants could be at large.</p> <p>‘The man did have a belt, but it was a fake. At town hall, Obama argues for tighter gun control

<p><img alt="Town hall on gun control" class="aligncenter" height="280" src="http://www.ctvnews.ca/polopoly_fs/1.2728535.1452216471!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_620/image.jpg" width="497" /></p> <p>FAIRFAX, Va. — U.S. President Barack Obama tore into the nation’s largest gun lobby on Thursday as he sought support for his actions on gun control, accusing the powerful lobby group of peddling an “imaginary fiction” that he said has distorted the national debate about gun violence.</p> <p>In a prime-time, televised forum, Obama dismissed what he called a “conspiracy” alleging that the federal government — and Obama in particular — wants to seize all firearms as a precursor to imposing martial law. He blamed that notion on the National Rifle Association and like-minded groups that convince its members that “somebody’s going to come grab your guns.”</p> <p>“Yes, that is a conspiracy,” Obama said. “I’m only going to be here for another year. When would I have started on this enterprise?”</p> <p>Obama defended his support for the constitutional right to gun ownership while arguing it was consistent with his efforts to curb violence and mass shootings. He said the NRA was refusing to acknowledge the government’s responsibility to make legal products safer, citing seatbelts and child-proof medicine bottles as examples.</p> <p>Obama, taking the stage at George Mason University, said he’s always been willing to meet with the NRA — if they’re willing to address the facts. He said the NRA was invited to the forum but declined to participate. Several NRA members were in the audience for the forum, which was organized and hosted by CNN.</p> <p>“There’s a reason why the NRA’s not here. They’re just down the street,” Obama said, referring to the group’s nearby headquarters. “Since this is a main reason they exist, you’d think that they’d be prepared to have a debate with the president.”</p> <p>The White House has sought to portray the NRA, the nation’s largest gun group, as possessing a disproportionate influence over lawmakers that has prevented new gun laws despite polls that show broad U.S. support for measures like universal background checks. Last year, following a series of mass shootings, Obama pledged to “politicize” the issue in an attempt to level the playing field for gun control supporters.</p> <p>NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said ahead of the event that the group saw “no reason to participate in a public relations spectacle orchestrated by the White House.” Still, the group pushed back on Obama in real time on Twitter, noting in one tweet that “none of the president’s orders would have stopped any of the recent mass shootings.”</p> <p>The American Firearms Retailers Association, another lobby group that represents gun dealers, did participate. Asked how business had been since Obama took office, Kris Jacob replied: “It’s been busy.”</p> <p>“There’s a very serious concern in this country about personal security,” he added.</p> <p>Obama’s actions on guns have drawn major attention in the presidential campaign, with the Democratic candidates backing Obama and the Republicans unanimously voicing opposition. Donald Trump, addressing a rally in Vermont just as Obama was holding the town hall, said he would eliminate gun-free zones in schools on his first day if elected to the White House.</p> <p>“You know what a gun-free zone is for a sicko? That’s bait,” Trump told the crowd.</p> <p>Obama’s broadside against the NRA came two days after unveiling a package of executive actions aimed at keeping guns from people who shouldn’t have them. The centerpiece is new federal guidance that seeks to clarify who is “in the business” of selling firearms, triggering a requirement to get a license and conduct background checks on all prospective buyers.</p> <p>The plan has drawn intense criticism from gun rights groups that have accused the president of trampling on the Second Amendment and railroading Congress by taking action on his own without new laws. Just after his 2012 re-election, Obama pushed hard for a bipartisan gun control bill that collapsed in the Senate, ending any realistic prospects for a legislative solution in the near term.</p> <p>Part of a concerted White House push to promote the effort, the forum attracted a number of high-profile figured in the gun debate, including former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in 2011. After getting stuck, the ships slowly deteriorated, leaving more than 1,200 whalers stranded.</p> <p>None of them died, and they were eventually rescued, but the incident is considered one of the major triggers for the demise of whaling in the United States, according to NOAA.</p> <p>“Until now, no one had found definitive proof of any of the lost fleet beneath the water,” said Brad Barr, a NOAA archaeologist and project co-director. “This exploration provides an opportunity to write the last chapter of this important story of American maritime heritage and also bear witness to some of the impacts of a warming climate on the region’s environmental and cultural landscape, including diminishing sea ice and melting permafrost.”</p> <p>_{<i>-- Delivered by <a href="http://feed43.com/">Feed43</a> service</i>}</p>

While Border Patrol has yet to confirm this report, National Border Patrol Council Local 2455 President Hector Garza did confirm that he was also receiving similar reports from multiple agents.</p> <p> </p> <p>“Border Patrol agents who we represent have been contacting our organization to voice concerns about reports from other agents that Syrians crossed the U.S. border from Mexico in the Laredo Sector,” he said. “Our agents have heard about Syrians being apprehended in the area from other federal agents. The Dead Sea Scrolls and the New Testament

<p><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="274" src="http://cdn.biblicalarchaeology.org/wp-content/uploads/messianic-apocalypse-scroll.jpg" width="488" /></p> <p>What do the Dead Sea Scrolls say about Jesus? Nothing.</p> <p>What do they say about the world in which Jesus lived? Lots.</p> <p>The Dead Sea Scrolls are comprised primarily of two types of texts: parts of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and sectarian works written by the small group (or groups) of Jews who lived at Qumran. The scrolls date from the mid-third century B.C.E. until the mid-first century C.E.</p> <p>While the Dead Sea Scrolls do not shed light on the person or ministry of Jesus, they do illuminate practices and beliefs of ancient Judaism. SinceChristianity began as a sect of Judaism, the scrolls are very important for understanding the earliest Christians and their writings—the New Testament.</p> <p>In the March/April 2015 issue of <strong>BAR</strong>, James C. VanderKam, the John A. O’Brien Professor of Hebrew Scriptures in the theology department at the University of Notre Dame, examines the overlap between these two bodies of texts in his article <strong>“The Dead Sea Scrolls and the New Testament.”</strong> Dr. VanderKam was a member of the committee that prepared the scrolls for publication.</p> <p>In his <strong>BAR</strong> article, James C. VanderKam explains, “The earliest followers of Jesus and the literature they produced were thoroughly Jewish in nature. As a result, the more one knows about Judaism during the time of Christian origins, the stronger basis we have for understanding the New Testament. And the scrolls are the most significant body of Hebrew/Aramaic literature related to a Jewish group or groups from roughly this time and thus are potentially invaluable for shedding light on the meaning of New Testament texts.”</p> <div class="mta"><em>Interested in the history and meaning of the Dead Sea Scrolls? Find out what they tell us about the Bible, Christianity and Judaism.</em></div> <div class="mta"></div> <div class="mta"></div> <p>There is no reason to suggest that the New Testament authors knew any of the sectarian works discovered among <a href="http://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/biblical-artifacts/dead-sea-scrolls/lawrence-h-schiffman-on-the-dead-sea-scrolls-history/" target="_blank">the Dead Sea Scrolls</a>. Further, it is quite possible that the two groups never interacted with each other. VanderKam points out that there is no overlap between the cast of characters in the scrolls and the New Testament (except for figures from the Hebrew Bible). He notes that “not even John the Baptist, who for a time lived in the wilderness and around the Jordan, not too far from the Dead Sea Scroll caves (see Luke 1:80; 3:3)” appears in the scrolls—let alone Jesus, much of whose ministry happened in Galilee.</p> <p> </p> <p>The worldviews of early Christians and the writers of the Dead Sea Scrolls were also starkly different. VanderKam explains, “A group that set a goal of spreading its religious message to all peoples to the ends of the earth had a very different understanding of God’s plan than ones who seem to have done no proselytizing and had no interest in bringing the nations into the fold.”</p> <p>Nevertheless, there are some similarities between the two groups and their writings, which make for interesting comparisons. For example, a list of miracles appears in both Luke 7:21–22 of the New Testament and the Dead Sea Scroll known as the Messianic Apocalypse (4Q521). In Luke 7, Jesus gives these miracles to the disciples of John the Baptist as proof that he is the messiah. In the Messianic Apocalypse, which was written approximately 150 years before Luke’s Gospel, the Lord is the one who will perform these miracles. The source for both of these lists is Isaiah chapters 35 and 61. While not all of the same miracles appear in Luke 7 and the Messianic Apocalypse, the miracles that do appear in both are listed in the same order (see chart).</p> <div id="attachment_38057" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 455px;"><a href="http://cdn.biblicalarchaeology.org/wp-content/uploads/dss-chart.jpg"><img alt="dss-chart" class=" wp-image-38057" height="195" src="http://cdn.biblicalarchaeology.org/wp-content/uploads/dss-chart.jpg" width="445" /></a> <p class="wp-caption-text">Parallels between Luke 7:21–22 and 4Q521 and the parts of Isaiah from which they come.</p> </div> <p>The curious thing is that not all of these miracles, such as “raising the dead,” appear in the passages from Isaiah, which were the source material for the lists—the prophecies being fulfilled. How many people have to die before America stands together and takes action? Last year alone nearly <strong>88,000</strong> people died in America as a direct result of excess alcohol abuse:  <a href="http://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/alcohol-use.htm" target="_blank">www.cdc.gov</a></p> <p>In comparison only <strong>33,000</strong> Americans died last year from gun related violence, including terrorism: <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/more-americans-have-die-from-gun-violence-than-terror-attacks-2015-10" target="_blank">www.businessinsider.com</a><br /> These statistics are no anomaly. If you do your own research a quick online search will show you that alcohol kills nearly 3 times more Americans each year then guns. Still not convinced? <strong>Did you know that alcohol is the number 1 underlying cause/factor behind crime in the United States:</strong> <strong>ore harm to society than heroine, cocaine and marijuana combined:</strong> <a href="http://anonhq.com/alcohol-still-legal/" target="_blank">anonhq.com</a>  elevision ads trying to save peoples lives from the dangers of alcohol? If people like Hillary Clinton are so concerned about saving American lives why does no one talk about this issue?</p> <p><strong>It might have something to do with the fact the alcohol tax reveue nets the Unted States government 9.6 billion dollars:</strong>  <a href="http://www.statista.com/statistics/248952/revenues-from-alcohol-tax-and-forecast-in-the-us/" target="_blank">www.statista.com</a></p> <p><strong>Where as firearm tax revenue only nets the government 123 million dollars:  </strong><a href="http://www.statisticbrain.com/firearm-industry-statistics/" target="_blank">www.statisticbrain.com</a></p> <p>So there you have it, morality in politics is quite literally bought. The more money something makes, the more its dangers can be ignored and swept under the rug. I am using alcohol as and example to show people how society can be brainwashed into following a false narrative by manipulative political tactics. America needs to open its eyes and wake up from the stupor. If you do not want to ban alcohol, but you support banning guns you have to seriously ask yourself why people feel so strongly about this in the first place? 9,500-Year-Old Tree Found in Sweden Is The World’s Oldest Tree

<p>The world’s oldest tree, a 9,500-year-old Norwegian Spruce named “Old Tjikko,” after Professor Leif Kullman’s Siberian husky, continues to grow in Sweden. Discovered in 2004 by Kullman, professor of Physical Geography at Umeå University, the age of the tree was determined using carbon-14 dating.</p> <p>“During the ice age sea level was 120 meters lower than today and much of what is now the North Sea in the waters between England and Norway was at that time forest,” Professor Kullman told Aftonbladet. Victory: Hungary Orders The Rothschild Banks To Leave The Country

In July it announced its plans to repay the IMF bailout and for it to vacate the Budapest office. By August the same year, the Central European country had indeed arranged early payment of the loan.</strong></p> <p>A kindly worded letter from <strong>Gyorgy Matolcsy</strong>, the head of Hungary’s Central<a href="http://www.neonnettle.com/tags/bank">Bank</a> , asked Managing Director, <strong>Christine Lagarde</strong> of the International Misery Fund, as some have fondly nicknamed it, to <a href="http://rt.com/business/hungary-bailout-loan-imf-170/">close</a> the office as it was not necessary to maintain it any longer.</p> <p>The Prime Minister, <strong>Viktor Orban</strong>, seemed keen to ease off austerity measures and prove that the country could go it alone. It in fact issued its first bond in 2011, borrowing off the global markets.</p> <p><strong>Hungary borrowed €20 billion loan to avoid becoming insolvent during the economic crisis in 2008. But the debtee debtor relationship has not been smooth sailing</strong>.</p> <p>Many criticised the Prime Minister as making an ill-advised decision in order to win an election, which was due in 2014. He also wanted to refrain from having too many <a href="http://www.euractiv.com/euro-finance/hungary-repays-imf-loan-earlier-news-529790">foreign</a> eyes on their economic policies, as many reforms were criticised as being undemocratic.</p> <p>Paying the loan back early has meant Hungary have saved <strong>€11.7 million</strong> worth of interest expenses, but <a href="http://www.politics.hu/20140326/hungary-loser-of-imf-loan-repayment-says-bajnai/">Gordan Bajnai,</a> leader of the electoral alliance E14-PM, claimed that they had actually lost <strong>€44.86 million</strong> by <strong>March 2014</strong> because of the early repayment as all they did was replace the loan from the International Mafia Federation (another nickname, we’re still talking about the IMF here) with a more expensive one, labelling the stunt as <strong><em><a href="http://www.neonnettle.com/tags/propaganda">Propaganda</a></em></strong> .</p> <p>And what made further nonsense; another loan at high interest rates was signed to finance a nuclear upgrade, which will mean not only higher repayments but also high electricity costs. <strong>But they do have economic sovereignty now.</strong></p> <p>Many have claimed that the IMF AKA ‘Imposing Misery and Famine’, are owned by the <a href="http://www.conspiracytruths.co.uk/rothschilds.html">Rothschild group</a>, the biggest banking group in the world, having their fingers in almost every central bank in the world. One key provision would require more gun sellers — especially those who do business on the Internet and at gun shows — to be licensed and would force them to conduct background checks on potential buyers. Obama would devote $500 million more in federal funds to treating mental illness — a move that could require congressional approval — and require that firearms lost in transit between a manufacturer and a seller be reported to federal authorities.</p> <p>At the president’s direction, the FBI will begin hiring more than 230 additional examiners and other personnel to help process new background checks 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Also, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has established a new investigation center to keep track of illegal gun trafficking online and will devote $4 million and additional personnel to enhance the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network.</p> <p><iframe src="http://www.washingtonpost.com/video/c/embed/4beb4f8a-b327-11e5-8abc-d09392edc612" width="480" height="290" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p> <p>“The gun lobby may be holding Congress hostage, but they can’t hold America hostage. We can’t accept this carnage in our communities,” Obama said in a Twitter message Monday evening, referring to the National Rifle Association.</p> <p>The president is scheduled to talk about his new policies in the East Room on Tuesday, and two days later he will participate in a town hall at George Mason University that will be televised on CNN.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Even before Obama’s official announcement, however, Republicans in Congress and on the campaign trail blasted the actions, and some gun rights advocates threatened to challenge them in court.</p> <p>House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) issued a statement Monday saying that even without knowing the plan’s details, he thinks “the president is at minimum subverting the legislative branch, and potentially overturning its will. . . . Senate Votes To Deny Obama’s Budget Plan

<p>A few weeks ago, President Obama introduced his budget plan for the new fiscal year to Congress. Now, the Senate just gave him some bad news.</p> <p><img alt="" class="" height="281" src="http://thehill.com/sites/default/files/styles/article_full/public/obamabarack_051115getty.jpg?itok=TVnJ2IV9" width="499" /></p> <p>Obama’s plan is flawed at best and delusional at worst. It proposes that we increase taxes and spending, but ignore the annual budget deficit that contributes to our extreme national debt.</p> <p>If history has anything to say about it, President Obama is not likely to be swayed by Congress decision. As we’ve seen in the past, Obama has little respect and is willing to go around formal process in order to get his way. We’ve got little doubt that Obama will continue to move forward with his own plans and tax hardworking Americans as much as possible.</p> <p>Still, it should be noted just how strong the opposition to his proposal was; the Senate voted against it 98 to 1. The single supporter of the motion was Tom Carper, a Democrat from Delaware.</p> <p> </p> <p>“Since 2011, it’s only gotten two votes for the president’s proposed budget, 1,023 votes against,” Texas Snator John Cornyn told reporters.</p> <p>What do you think?
