Muslim gunmen in Egypt took 29 Christians hostage and told them to reject Christ and accept Muhammad as their prophet. All of the Christians refused, the Muslim terrorists took them by their heads and slaughtered all of them. An Egyptian priest, Fr. Rashed, recounted:
"They asked them to deny their Christian faith, one by one, but all refused"
The gunmen, according to one French report, "coldly slaughtered them, pulling them in the head. A total of 29 people, including many children, were killed in the attack, which the Islamic State (JI) jihadist group claimed." Another priest, Fr. Hedra, recounted the horror of the massacre:
"Before they were killed, most of the men were taken out of their cars, others stayed in their vehicle... They seem to have been kneeling. Most were shot in the back of the skull, in the mouth or throat."
Another Egyptian, Maher Tawfik, said that the gunmen "brought down the men from the bus, took their identity cards and the gold they had on them ...they asked them to pronounce the Muslim profession of faith" and they also "took gold jewelry and silver from women". Mr. Tawfik's daughter was a survivor of the massacre, but her husband and 1 year old daughter were both martyred."
Mina al-Masri, a Christian Coptic Egyptian declared this grave prophecy:
"It is not new for us to be targeted by terrorism. We pay the price of our support to the army and the state ... I expect a bloodbath for Christians"
This is the work of the children of Belial, to shed the blood of the innocent. It is of the spirit of antichrist to prey on the innocent. The whole of human existence is the continual struggle between the successors of Cain and the sons of Abel. Abel was the first martyr to die for the cause of righteousness, and remember what Christ said to the jingoist Jewish establishment: "That upon you may come all the just blood that hath been shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the just, even unto the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom you killed between the temple and the altar." (Matthew 23:35)
The people that murdered Christ, these Islamic gunmen are of the same spirit. These Christians who were slaughtered, were indeed martyrs. The martyr carries the Cross of Christ, for he is crucified with Christ in a mystical union with the cosmic struggle for the soul of humanity, against the enemies of mankind; baptized in blood, they go down the road that transcends all ego, and enters the bliss of eternity. In the timeless battlefield of Golgotha, those that suffer die in ecstasy. In the words of St. Thomas, "the shedding of one's blood for Christ's sake takes the place of Baptism."
