Facebook has been accused of censoring posts and barring both members and groups who are critical of Islam. There was always suspicion that the apparent censorship was not merely at the request of Muslims, but was an order that came directly from Facebook’s upper management, including CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg.
In January 2015 following the Charlie Hebdo massacre, Mr. Zuckerberg posed to his Facebook account that he was “committed to building a service where you can speak freely without fear of violence.” He even added the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie. From the Washington Post:
Interestingly, it was following this post Facebook began censoring “anti-Muslim” posts.
In September of this year, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was caught red-handed asking Mr. Zuckerberg to censor posts considered “offensive” to Muslims.
Now on December 10th, 11 months after Mr. Zuckerberg declared #JeSuisCharlie, he posted on his Facebook page that:
“If you are a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know tha tyou are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you.”

His statement comes, not conicidentally, after Mr. Trump’s remarks to limit Muslim immigration to the United States. In spite of the media’s defamatory attacks on Mr. Trump’s character, he said nothing hateful of Muslim people.
This is a omen of things to come on Facebook. Enjoy the time you have now to post, and post as much and as often as you can. Free speech is dying on Facebook, and it will not be in the distant future when the ability to voice your thoughts freely on Facebook without fear of reprisal will cease to exist.
