This shocking video shows the moment a police officer kicked a drunken homeless man to the ground – causing him to smash his head against a concrete wall.
Captured on CCTV outside a detox center in the Canadian city of Regina in 2012, the footage has only now been released as it emerged the officer has been reinstated to the police force following his initial firing.
Constable Rob Power can be seen pulling up in his marked police car where an exchange of words with the staggering man, named as Eddie Stonechild, takes place.
A Regina judge ruled Thursday that two media outlets — the Regina Leader-Post and CTV — can have a copy of a video shown regarding a Regina Police Service officer previously charged with aggravated assault.
Const. Robert Kenneth Power was originally convicted by a provincial court judge in February 2014 with aggravated assault against an intoxicated man in front to the Regina Detox centre on May 7, 2012. The video, introduced as an exhibit at trial, shows the victim walking toward Power. In turn, Power kicks the intoxicated man, who fell backward and hit his head on a cement half-wall.
