TikTok Censors Videos That Made Fun of Dr. Fauci

<p><strong>Free speech activists in the UK have warned that new government legislation aimed at social media companies is set to decimate free speech and bring in ‘state-backed censorship’ on an unprecedented scale.</strong></p>
<p>The ‘Online Safety’ Bill is being introduced with the justification of forcing big tech to be more accountable for ‘harmful’ content on their websites.</p>
<p>However, activists have noted that it will could be used to remove any opinions and content that big tech or the state do not agree with, and could lead to more publishers being permanently banned from platforms.</p>
<p>The legislation gives the government Office of Communications the power to issue fines of up to £18million or 10 per cent of their annual global turnover if that is higher, and to completely block access to platforms.</p>
<p>Privacy campaign group Big Brother Watch has labelled the legislation “state-backed censorship and monitoring on a scale never seen before in a liberal democracy.”</p>

<p>Another activist group. The Free Speech Union noted that the draft legislation effectively brings media created content on social networks “within scope of a state regulator.”</p>
<p>Another group, The Adam Smith Institute labelled the move “a frightening and historic attack on freedom of speech.”</p>
<p>“The Government should not have the power to instruct private firms to remove legal speech in a free society,” commented Matthew Lesh of the Institute.</p>
<p>‘The scope of these proposals is practically limitless, encompassing everything from ‘trolling’ to ‘fraud’ and ‘misinformation’,” he added.</p>
<p>Lesh further warned that “The vagueness of the legislation means there will be nothing to stop Ofcom and a future government including any additional measures in future.”</p>
<p>Jim Killock, Executive Director of Open Rights Group also weighed in, urging that ‘Treating online speech as inherently dangerous and demanding that risks are eliminated under the threat of massive fines is only going to end up in over-reaction and content removal.”</p>
<p>The legislation is set to be reviewed by a joint committee of MPs, and then brought to Parliament.</p>
<p>The move is yet another example of government using the broad definition of ‘hate speech’ to put into place tools that can be used to silence dissent or opinions it does not want in the public realm.</p>
<p>The legislation was drafted and announced following a sustained campaign involving celebrities and sports personalities who demanded that big tech companies should be held more accountable for instances of racism and bullying on its platforms.</p>

India Demands Social Media Networks Remove References to “Indian Variant” of COVID

<p><strong>During a hearing Wednesday in the House, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan succinctly highlighted how everyone EXCEPT House Democrats wants answers to legitimate questions regarding the possibility of the coronavirus leaking from a Chinese lab.</strong></p>
<p>Republican lawmakers, intelligence officials, Journalists, and even members of the Biden administration have all said that there is credible evidence behind the theory.</p>
<p>However, as Jordan outlines, House Democrats have stymied investigations and dismissed the notion as a ‘distraction’.</p>
<p>“Where did this thing start? Did it jump from animal to humans or was it a leak from a lab, a lab in Wuhan china?” Jordan asked.</p>
<p>“The American people would probably like to know, after all, they’ve had their liberties assaulted for the past year” Jordan asserted.</p>
<p>Jordan quoted former New York Times science writer Nicholas Wafe who wrote “It’s a stretch to get the pandemic to break out naturally outside of Wuhan and then without leaving a trace to make its first appearance in Wuhan. But he says this for the lab escape scenario, a Wuhan origin for the virus is a no-brainer.”</p>
<p>Jordan continued “Wuhan is home to China’s leading center for coronavirus research. Researchers were genetically engineering bat coronaviruses to attack human cells. They were doing so under minimal safety conditions. If the virus with an uninspected infectiousness had been generated there, its escape would be no surprise.”</p>
<p>Jordan notes that it is unfathomable why Democrats are blocking efforts to find answers, unless they are seeking to protect Anthony Fauci from having to answer difficult questions about his involvement with the Wuhan Institute of Virology during the Obama/Biden years.</p>

<p>This week, GOP representatives on the House Intelligence Committee <a href="https://summit.news/2021/05/17/gop-reps-demand-intel-update-from-biden-on-wuhan-lab-leak-possibility/">demanded an update</a> from the White House and the Director of National Intelligence on the possibility that the coronavirus leaked from the lab in Wuhan.</p>
<p>The Republicans, led by Ranking Member Devin Nunes also want access to any intelligence on the <a href="https://archives.infowars.com/global-bombshell-china-admits-to-developing-testing-covid-19-in-wuhan-level-4-lab/">“gain of function” research</a> that was undertaken at the Wuhan lab in conjunction with US agencies.</p>
<p>Even Biden’s own CDC Director <a href="https://summit.news/2021/05/20/bidens-cdc-director-says-lab-origin-of-covid-19-a-possibility/">said this week</a> that there is a “possibility” that the COVID-19 virus was leaked from the Wuhan lab.</p>
<p>Leftist media and ‘fact checking’ outlets have repeatedly dismissed the notion as a ‘conspiracy theory’, but are <a href="https://summit.news/2021/05/21/politifact-forced-to-pull-fact-check-that-debunked-lab-leak-origin-of-covid/">now doing an about face on the matter.</a></p>
<p>As Infowars <a href="https://archives.infowars.com/global-bombshell-china-admits-to-developing-testing-covid-19-in-wuhan-level-4-lab/">reported in April 2020</a>, the NIH awarded a $3.7 million grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to conduct coronavirus gain of function research.</p>
<p>Additionally, the results of the US-backed gain of function research at Wuhan was published in 2017 under the heading, “<a href="https://journals.plos.org/plospathogens/article?id=10.1371/journal.ppat.1006698">Discovery of a rich gene pool of bat SARS-related coronaviruses provides new insights into the origin of SARS coronavirus</a>.”</p>
<p>White House Medical advisor Dr Anthony Fauci has come under <a href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/tucker-carlson-calls-for-investigation-into-fauci-wuhan-lab-connection/">increased scrutiny</a> as the NIH’s involvement with the Wuhan lab is being <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fauci-niaid-wuhan-lab-funding-ron-johnson-coronavirus">called into question.</a></p>
<p>As we <a href="https://summit.news/2021/01/04/us-national-security-still-believes-coronavirus-leaked-from-chinese-lab/">reported earlier in the year</a>, top US National Security officials have indicated that they believe the most credible theory on the origin of COVID-19 is that it escaped from the Chinese laboratory.</p>
<p>The development also comes in the wake of a group of the world’s leading scientists <a href="https://summit.news/2021/05/14/worlds-leading-scientists-who-has-failed-to-make-balanced-consideration-on-possibility-covid-leaked-from-chinese-lab/">penning an open letter</a> urging more investigation into the possibility that the coronavirus pandemic was caused by a leak from Wuhan’s Institute of Virology, saying that the World Health Organisation has dismissed the notion without proper consideration.</p>

Google Docs Gets Social Justice Update, Autocorrecting to Gender Neutral and Politically Correct Language

<p><strong>Google announced on Tuesday, during its I/O developer conference, that editing capabilities of Google Docs have been expanded to police text and monitor a writer’s level of inclusivity.</strong></p>
<p>Thus an update to the app means that Google Docs will start suggesting changing words like “mailman” to “mail carrier” and “chairman” to “chairperson,” it has been revealed.</p>
<p>Users will also be prompted to avoid using passive voice or what Google determines to be offensive language. It’s unclear from reports if the new feature will be opt-in or out, or hard-coded in the app, that is, impossible to avoid using.</p>
<p>This user-facing change comes after Google’s style guide for developers already seeking to “tidy up” language according to the sensitivities the giant is pandering to. For example, developers are instructed to replace “crazy” with “baffling,” “dummy variable” with “placeholder variable,” and “final sanity-check” with “final check for completeness and clarity.”</p>
<p>As early as 2018, Google got rid of gender pronouns from predictive text on Gmail for fear of offending somebody on that front, as well as of racial slurs, expletives, and mentions of business rivals.</p>
<p>CEO Sundar Pichai is said to have made implementing social justice tenets a priority for the whole of Google.</p>
<p>Google is not alone in promoting what many refer to as woke culture or at least paying lip service to it. Often, restrictions placed on the way users communicate and share content go hand in hand.</p>
<p>Twitter will start prompting users to reconsider sending their replies to tweets and think those over as <a href="https://reclaimthenet.org/twitter-introduces-improved-offensive-tweet-warning/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">“potentially” harmful or offensive before tapping “send.”</a> The social network seems to be using some form of machine learning to achieve this type of content policing.</p>

<p>Although these messages can be ignored, depending on who you ask, they are designed to introduce either more “self-awareness” or more “self-censorship.”</p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Lebanon is a country filled with strife, and there are no sides that are good, with neighbors hating one another, and with factions covering their own intentions with the face of justice. Rebellion is masqueraded as justice, and the true nightmare is exposed only after everyone is sold to the facade of righteous indignation.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Neighbor is going against neighbor, with Lebanese hating Syrian. There is an immense hatred towards Syrian refugees, especially now that many Syrians are voting for Bashar al-Assad within Lebanon. Mobs of Right-wing Lebanese attacked buses carrying Syrian expats and Syrians heading towards the Syrian embassy in Beirut.</span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">These mobs consisted mainly of members of the Right-wing Lebanese Forces, a political party (that was once a militia) of Maronite Catholics whose religion is more of a national identity than a spirituality. The mobs waited for the cars and buses of Syrians at several intersections in Beirut, outside the city and in the eastern Bekaa region. They attacked the vehicles with rocks and smashed the windows with sticks. In one situation near Nahr el-Kalb, on the highway north of Beirut, one person attacked a driver by poking him with a wooden stick while others smashed his windshield. The buses had photos of al-Assad which only agitated the mobs. Fadi Nader, one of those in the mob, <a href="https://www.arabnews.com/node/1861771/middle-east"><span class="s2">expressed</span></a> his rage: “They don’t need to carry pictures and flags for an absurd criminal regime … If they want to vote, they can go home and vote there… Since they love Bashar Assad, why don’t they go home?“</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Assad regime is extremely hated in Lebanon, and this stems from a resentment rooted in the Lebanese Civil War when Bashar al-Assad’s father, Hafez al-Assad, invaded Lebanon. The Syrian military did not fully withdraw from Lebanon until 2005, when Bashar al-Assad had already been ruling.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> As Syrians made their way into the embassy in Baabda, they <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/5/20/thousands-of-syrian-refugees-and-expats-vote-early-in-lebanon"><span class="s2">cried</span></a> out<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> “God! Syria! Bashar!” and “We’d sacrifice ourselves for you, soul and blood, Bashar”, an indication of the tribal divisions being revealed within Lebanon. The Syrians continuously showing their support for Assad will only exasperate the hatred that Right-wing Lebanese forces have towards them. But yet again, we cannot blame Syrians for supporting Assad; he is, after all, fighting the terrorists who ruined their country, and more power to Assad means countering the forces of chaos and bringing more stability to the country that they left due to NATO’s support for rebels who seek to overthrow Assad. On Syrian woman who had left her hometown of Raqqa in 2015, said to Al Jazeera:<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span> “We want al-Assad, and God wants him too … We lived in stability under his excellency”.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Tension with refugees is one of the things that accelerated the Lebanese Civil War which sparked in the 1970s. Lebanon is still a heavily divided country, being broken up between the Christians, Sunnis, Shiites and Druze, and animosity towards Syria is still harbored by the country’s Maronite faction. The country is still ripe for civil war. In the <a href="https://www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/lebanon-civil-war-coming-political-financial-crisis"><span class="s2">words</span></a> of Hicham Safieddine: “Social conflict is at an all-time high, and regional wars and geopolitical tensions are simmering.” Just as conflict between Lebanese Christians and Palestinians erupted in the Lebanese Civil War, so could the tensions between the Right-wing Forces and Syrians explode into another ethnic conflict.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">If a civil war does break out again, Iranian proxy Hezbollah will most definitely participate in order to establish its own power, being currently the most armed of the political factions. The Lebanese military will have difficulty dealing with the situation since it’s ranks will fragment, with Shiites, Sunnis and so-called Christians dissenting to fight for their own sides. Just to give you an idea as to how bloody Lebanon’s past civil war was, here are some examples of the horrors that took place in that conflict. In 1978, Right-wing Catholic claiming Maronite thugs forced an entire group of Shiite men, women and children into a mosque in the village of Khiam, and shot all of them to their deaths. This took place under the superintendence of Israeli soldiers. Etienne Saqr, a Maronite militia leader who went by the name Abu Arz — the “Father of the Cedars” — had a penchant for cruelty and enjoyed tying Palestinian prisoners to the backs of taxis and dragging them for twelve miles before tossing their corpses into a dried riverbed. “If you feel compassion for the Palestinian women and children,” he once said, “remember they are communists and will bear new communists.” In one of the events leading up to the full breakout of the war, in 1975 four Christians were found shot dead in a car outside the electricity company headquarters in east Beirut. According to Maronite officers of the Right-wing Phalange paramilitary at the time, their leader, Bashir Gemayel, ordered his men to slaughter forty Muslims. His officers set up roadblocks and the first forty Muslim men they found, they took and slit their throats.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Muslim militias followed the same example, setting up their own roadblocks and butchering the Christians they found. These killings took place for hours, being conducted by both Christian and Muslim forces, and hundreds were butchered. In 1976, the Phalange and their allies — the Chamounists — took over the slum of Karantina (which was populated by Palestinians, Syrians, Kurds and Armenians) and butchered 1500 people, mainly Muslims. The Palestinians responded by hitting the Christian village of Damour. Camille Chamoun led the defense of the village before escaping on a helicopter and the PLO massacred almost the entire population. The Phalangists and other Maronite factions laid siege on Tel al-Zaatar, a refugee camp controlled by the PLO. The Phalangists blocked water from entering the camp by shooting those who tried to bring water inside. Numerous Palestinians were injured trying to transport water into the camp and around three thousand people died from dehydration. An agreement was eventually reached and it specified that civilians in the camp would leave Tel al-Zaatar with the assistance of the Red Cross. As the civilians were leaving, the Maronite fighters ambushed them and thousands were butchered. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Out of all the massacres that took place within the Lebanese Civil War, the most horrific was what took place in the refugee camps of Sabra and Chatila. There were bodies everywhere, and the smell of rotting corpses filled the air. As was written on the innumerable corpses by Robert Fisk, who was present in the camps right in the aftermath of the massacre: “They were everywhere, in the road, in laneways, in back yards and broken rooms, beneath crumpled masonry and across the top of garbage tips. … Each corridor through the rubble produced more bodies. The patients at a Palestinian hospital had disappeared after gunmen ordered the doctors to leave. Everywhere, we found signs of hastily dug mass graves. … All of us wanted to vomit. We were breathing death.” (Fisk, <i>Pity the Nation</i>, ch. 11, p. 360, ellipses mine). He goes on to describe: “We might have accepted evidence of a few murders; even dozens of bodies, killed in the heat of combat. But there were woman lying in houses with their skirts torn up to their wastes and their legs wide apart, children with their throats cut, rows of young men shot in the back after being lined up at an execution wall. There were babies — blackened babies because they had been slaughtered more then 24 hours earlier and their small bodies were already in a state of decomposition — tossed into rubbish heaps alongside discarded US army ration tins, Israeli army medical equipment and empty bottles of whisky.” (Ibid, pp. 360-1). Thousands were killed. Such was the war, and such is the horror that would occur again if civil war were to ever break out in that country.</span></p>

<p>Nepal plunged into fresh political turmoil on Saturday as President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved parliament and fixed general elections in November amid a worsening COVID-19 outbreak.</p>
<p>The surprise announcement comes after a presidential statement said neither the caretaker Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, nor opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba were able to demonstrate a majority to form a new government by the Friday deadline set by Bhandari.</p>
<p>"The president has dissolved the House of Representatives and ordered the first phase of general elections on November 12 and the second phase on November 19," a presidential statement issued after midnight said.</p>
<p>It said the decision was made on the recommendation of the cabinet headed by caretaker Prime Minister Oli, whose December 2020 dissolution of parliament sparked weeks of protests and was reversed by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional in February.</p>
<p>There was no immediate comment from political parties about the latest move.</p>
<p>Nepal is battling a deadly second wave of the pandemic and is reporting 8,207 new infections on average each day.</p>
