<p>Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the death of a Italian Christian aid worker in Bangladesh.</p>
<p>The killing marks the first attack by the terror group in Bangladesh.</p>
<p>Cesare Tavella was shot Monday night after three people rode beside him on a motorbike.</p>
<p>Mr Tavella, who was a vetinary surgeon in his 50s, had been living alone in the capital, Dhaka, after arriving in the country in May.</p>
<p>He had been working for a church-based organisation in the Netherlands, according to his colleague Alo Rani Dhali.</p>
<p>Police have no leads on who the attackers are, according to The Guardian.</p>
<p>It is estimated that around 90% of Bangladeshis are Muslim.</p>
<p>In a statement IS said a ‘security detachment’ had killed him with ‘silenced weapons’.</p>
<p>It also warned that ‘citizens of the crusader coalition’ would not be safe in Muslim countries.</p>

<p>The Christians of Iraq and Syria are in dire straits. The doors of Europe are closed to them, because it is bigoted to favor Christians over Muslims, despite the overwhelming evidence that Muslims discriminate against Christians when it comes to gaining access to refuge. The UNHCR is bought and paid for by the Islamic world and it has been hijacked for Dawa and future Jihad. Rescue Christians has done a major investigation and found rampant corruption and discrimination against Christians in the Bangkok office of the UNHCR. Our Rescue Christians division will be filing a major lawsuit against the UNHCR and our complaint contains overwhelming evidence of wrong doing and criminality by several senior managers at the UNHCR along with corrupting influence and criminal intimidation from other countries. We have also uncovered widespread discrimination against Christians in the Western embassies that are based in Muslim countries. The embassies employ local Muslim people to process visa applications and when Christians apply their Visa applications are held back or get thrown in the waste paper basket.</p>
<p>There are nearly 150 Holocaust Museums worldwide, yet the world today behaves in the exact same mode as it did prior and during the Armenian Genocide, as it did during the holocaust of the Jews, as it does now as the Christians of Asia, the Middle East and Africa are being murdered in scales not seen since the murder of the Jews in World War Two.</p>

<p>I write this from my hotel room in Yeravan Armenia, while I am on assignment to meet people here to advance our ability to save thousands more people trapped by their circumstances under the yoke of militant Muslims. Earlier today in Yeravan the capitol of Armenia I visited one of the very few museums dedicated to the Armenian genocide. What was the most shocking was what the Ottoman Turks did was to give a blue print to the Nazis on how to carry out their holocaust. Hitler and his henchmen copied every aspect on how the Turks murdered the Armenians, with cattle car transport, concentration/work camps, starvation and forced marches. The only thing the Nazis did different was they added the gas chambers, which allowed them to murder about 400% more people. Let us also not forget that Hitler admired Islam and the Nuremburg laws that discriminated against Jews. These laws were based totally on the “Dhimmi” laws, introduced by Omar the third Calipha of Islam.</p>
<p>The Armenians suffered the first holocaust of the 20th century but their history of persecution at the hands of the “peaceful religion” was preceded by centuries of atrocities which culminated with the Armenian genocide when three million Christians were murdered with at least one and half million being Armenian, seven hundred thousand were Chaldeans and about five hundred thousand Greek orthodox. In the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_genocide">massacre of Smyrna</a> during World War One American and British ships stood by and did nothing to either help the victims or intervene, this enabled the Turks to murder one hundred and fifty thousand men, women and children. This is one of the most shameful events of apathy from the beacon of the free world. Well the same apathy of America and Great Britain in World War 2 is repeating itself right in front of our noses today.</p>
<p>The truth is that Christians are the ones being discriminated by Muslims and the Muslims use the pathetic politically correct cowardly Western politicians. The Muslims use their expertise in propaganda to deliver Jihadists disguised as refugees. The recent major “refugee” influx into Europe contains 72% single males between the ages of eighteen and thirty as well as 82% are not even from Syria but are from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.</p>
<p>President Obama refuses to allow Christians direct access to America and insists on the problem only being dealt with by the UNHCR, which we have shown above as part of the problem and not the solution.</p>
<p>Our sister organization is working to open doors for the Christians stuck in Syria and Iraq. Armenia is a key destination as if you are Armenian you can go to Armenia the same way Jews can go to live in Israel under their law of return. There are still nearly thirty thousand Armenian Christians stuck in Syria and Iraq needing immediate evacuation. The one problem is that Armenia is a poor country with limited job opportunities so that is where Rescue Christians hope to fill the void by working with local churches and individuals, along with financial resources to create opportunities so people can go and live safely with the self-respect of a job and not being dependent on charity for the rest of their lives. This is why I am in Armenia as I write this article.</p>

<p>In 2010, on the heels of the Great Recession – the nation's biggest economic calamity since the Great Depression – one out of 10 people looking for work couldn't find a job. The crisis was widely felt in communities large and small across the country. But the effects were far from equal.</p>
<p>For example, the peak of unemployment for white workers who were unemployed in 2010 soared to 8 percent. But as Algernon Austin, a researcher at the Economic Policy Institute, noted in the report <a href="http://www.discountfoundation.org/sites/all/files/black_workers_matter.pdf" rel="nofollow">"#BlackWorkersMatter"</a> earlier this year, such devastating levels of joblessness were nothing new to African Americans. Over the last 52 years, Austin writes, "[T]he annual unemployment rate for blacks has averaged nearly 12 percent. The typical African-American community faces a severe unemployment crisis year after year after year."</p>
<p>The key role of race in chronic joblessness is just one of the reasons that African-American, labor and community leaders are calling for a new national commitment to organizing black workers. As Marc Bayard, who leads the Black Worker Initiative at the Institute for Policy Studies argues in the "#BlackWorkersMatter" report:</p>
<p>"Among the most important things that black workers need to survive and grow in today's economy are targeted racial and economic justice programs and projects designed to foster, expand and support opportunities for black worker organizing and collective action."</p>
<p>The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, founded in 1972 to increase the voice of African-American union members in the labor movement, echoes the sentiment in <a href="http://www.cbtu.org/pdf/a_future_for_workers.pdf" rel="nofollow">its own report</a> released in July:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>"Black workers have been, for the working class as a whole, the canary in the mine. Black workers are a segment of the working class that are normally subject to the forward thrusts of employer offensives. It is the segment of the working class that suffers the most from unemployment and underemployment ... What befalls the black worker inevitably confronts the bulk of the U.S. working class."</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Nowhere is this clearer than in the South, where close to half of all African Americans live today. As the Institute for Southern Studies and others have documented, for decades Southern states pursued a low-road economic strategy, attempting to lure companies to set up shop in the region with the promise of keeping wages low and unions out. That approach continues to this day, as witnessed by threats made by state leaders in South Carolina and Tennessee when workers attempted to organize unions at Boeing and Volkswagen, respectively.</p>
<p>The shift to less-secure, lower-paying jobs is a national issue, but it's especially pronounced in the South. A 2015 report by the Alliance for a Just Society estimates that 52 percent of new jobs in the South paid less than $15 an hour — which, even with lower costs factored in, is well below a living wage.</p>
<p>Just like unemployment, the South's low-wage economy affects everyone, but it hits African-American and other workers of color harder. Historically, African Americans in the South were locked into lower-paying job categories. Today, as the "#BlackWorkersMatter" report observes, "Between 2010 and 2012, 38.1 percent of black workers earned low wages compared to 25.9 percent of white workers," with "low wages" meaning people making two-thirds of the median wage of a full-time worker.</p>
<p>As groups like Black Workers for Justice and the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists have long argued — and reports like "#BlackWorkersMatter" make the case today — a focus on black labor would have a ripple effect that benefits all workers, especially in the South.</p>
<p>For one, it's a way to openly confront the way racism has undermined efforts to organize in Southern states, exploiting white racial sentiments to divide workers and accept racially-stratified job arrangements. Recently, the AFL-CIO — which has announced a renewed commitment to labor organizing in Southern states — launched a Labor Commission on Racial and Economic Justice that acknowledged the "ugly history of racism" in the labor movement and argued that creating a better economy required "power that can only come from unity, and unity has to begin with having all our voices be heard, on all sides of those color lines."</p>
<p>As the South grows more diverse, with rising numbers of both newcomers from other parts of the country as well as immigrants from other nations, attitudes about unions may shift in the South: 49 percent of Latinos, for example, have a favorable few of unions, compared to 45 percent of whites, according to a recent Pew survey. But African Americans have by far the highest support for unions among all racial groups, at 60 percent — a level of support that could buoy organizing for all workers in the region.</p>
<p>But ultimately, the value of organizing black workers in the South and elsewhere is the possibility it holds for strengthening the economic power of African-American communities. As organizer Lola Smallwood Cuevas argued in The Huffington Post:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>"The cause of the Black job crisis is not just the economy. It's the lack of power. No matter how "strong" the economy, we are disproportionately unemployed and in low-wage jobs ... Across the nation, 38 percent of Black workers receive low-wages. It is a lack of power that allows these outcomes to occur and these outcomes destabilize our families and the subsequent poverty is at the root of mass incarceration, homelessness, health disparities and the educational divide."</p>

<p>Shell’s decision to put its Arctic oil exploration plans in deep freeze will have several knock-on effects for global oil exploration, environmental protests and the future of the company itself.</p>
<p>The broader Arctic retreat by energy firms once bullish about polar prospects has now left just two working operations in the region: BP’s Prudhoe Bay field, which feeds the Trans-Alaskan pipeline, and Gazprom’s largely symbolic Prirazlomnoye platform in the Pechora Sea.</p>
<p>Publicly, Shell blames disappointing exploratory results, high operating costs and strict U.S. environmental regulations for its decision to quit Alaska’s Berger field after about $7 billion (£4.6 billion) of investment. But company sources also accept that Arctic oil polarized debate in a way that damaged the firm. “We were acutely aware of the reputational element to this program,” one said.</p>
<p>The notion of drilling in some of the world’s most pristine and hazardous regions – which, in the case of the Arctic, was only made accessible by retreating ice cover due to climate change – has also become politically toxic, Greenpeace says.</p>
<p>“It is undeniable that the protests were a factor in Shell’s decision because the Arctic had become a defining environmental story,” Ben Ayliffe, a Greenpeace Arctic campaigner told the Guardian. “A burgeoning and increasingly vocal movement sprung up across the world. The prospects for Arctic oil were never far from the public spotlight and they began to look increasingly toxic.”</p>
<p>Ayliffe added that a strong climate deal was needed at the UN climate summit in Paris later this year to consolidate the current Arctic pull-out. “It is imperative that this victory becomes a long term one for the Arctic itself,” he said.</p>
<p>After a series of high profile environmental demonstrations, Hilary Clinton tweeted out against Shell’s plans to drill in Alaska’s Chuckchi Sea last month.</p>
<p>The issue also forced Shell out of the Prince of Wales’ corporate leaders group on climate change, which it had helped to form, and prompted a rebuke from the head of the International Energy Agency.</p>
<p>Shell officials argue that, despite today’s low oil prices, rising energy demand from a growing world population will continue to oblige new oil field discoveries, to arrest annual decline rates of about 5m barrels of oil per day.</p>
<p>The energy giant hopes to receive regulatory clearance for its proposed $64 billion buyout of gas group BG early next year.</p>
<p>“One of the key strategic drivers for that deal is bringing together BG’s deep water portfolio in Brazil with ours,” said Andy Norman, Shell’s VP for media relations. “We also have some attractive acreage in the Gulf of Mexico. But much of our focus now is on completing that [BG] deal and we will reduce exploration spending on the back of that, assuming it completes.”</p>
<p>If this happens, Greenpeace says that the pre-salts oil fields off the coast of Brazil will be the next arena for global protests against environmentally hazardous drills.</p>
<p>“Greenpeace and other NGOs have worked there in the past and I’m sure they will follow Shell,” Ayliffe said. “We have seen from the deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that deepwater drills in Brazil are not without risk.”</p>
<p>They may also carry a risk for company boardrooms. Shell was told by investors to test the firm’s business models against international goals to limit climate change at its last AGM.</p>
<p>Shell’s dirty energy projects in the Arctic and in Alberta’s tar sands have already tarnished a green image that it carefully crafted over several years. The firm has set a $40 a tonne internal price on carbon, and lobbied for higher EU carbon prices to fund the development of its carbon capture and storage technologies.</p>
<p>The Dutch company now produces more gas than oil and was one of the best performing fossil fuels firms in a recent climate performance survey of top corporations. Researchers say that its rating would have been much higher without Arctic oil.</p>
<p>In the past, Shell has largely turned its nose up at wind or solar-powered projects, in favour of first-generation ethanol-based biofuels in Brazil, which have a disputed emissions-reducing potential. But this too could change.</p>
<p>“After 2050, we think that solar will be single most dominant energy source in the global energy system and we are working hard to understand where we can play a role in that transition and where opportunities might exist for us,” Norman said.</p>
<p>In the short-medium term though, the company insists that it is not blanching from its mission to meet current energy demand with hydrocarbons.</p>

<p>One year ago, Hong Kong's streets were shut down by pro-democracy activists who occupied them for 79 days in what became known as the "Umbrella Movement." The protests were led by students and other activists who took to the streets to voice their opposition to Beijing's plan to restrict elections for the leader of the semi-autonomous Chinese city.</p>
<p>The protest was kicked off by students, led by Joshua Wong, who stormed into the government headquarters compound on 26 September. They were promptly arrested by the police. Two days later tens of thousands of supporters flooded onto a major highway in Hong Kong, blocking traffic, and stayed there despite police firing 87 rounds of tear gas in one day.</p>
<p>While largely peaceful, the size and duration of the protests – and the fact that they took place in full view of international media, who filmed the activists using umbrellas to defend themselves against police tear gas, pepper spray and batons – raised a serious challenge to China's Communist Party. The movement fizzled out as the government stuck to a hard line and authorities eventually cleared out all three protest camps.</p>
<p>As the Los Angeles Times <a href="http://www.latimes.com/world/asia/la-fg-hong-kong-umbrella-joshua-wong-20150928-story.html" rel="nofollow">reports</a>:</p>

<p>"Much as the protests transfixed the world, they yielded no concessions from the local government in this semi-autonomous Chinese territory, or from Communist Party rulers in Beijing. Many of those who participated fell into a deep despondency; Wong himself called the mass movement 'a failure' that has plunged many a participant into 'an abyss of helplessness."</p>

<p>The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an organization shrouded in mystery. This may be due mainly to the fact that the majority of people don’t even know of its existence. According to the <a href="https://www.princeton.edu/~ies/IES_Essays/E22.pdf" rel="nofollow">BIS itself</a>, the main purpose of the Bank is "to promote the cooperation of central banks and to provide additional facilities for international financial operations,” and to "act as trustee or agent in regard to international financial settlements entrusted to it under agreements of the parties concern.”</p>
<p>What this means is that the BIS simply enables central banks to work with one another. While its purpose has changed and evolved over the decades, the BIS has always been a club for central bankers – and in many ways it has aided some countries more than others. The Bank has a <a href="http://www.bis.org/about/board.htm" rel="nofollow">Board of Directors</a> that “may have up to 21 members, including six ex officio directors, comprising the central bank Governors of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States. Each ex officio member may appoint another member of the same nationality. Nine Governors of other member central banks may be elected to the Board.”</p>
<p>The BIS also has a management wing in the form of a General and Deputy General Manager, both of whom are responsible to the Board and <a href="http://www.bis.org/about/officials.htm" rel="nofollow">supported by</a> Executive, Finance, and Compliance and Operational Risk Committees. However, its purpose has changed and evolved over the decades, however, it has always been a club for central bankers, yet in many ways it can aid some countries more than others.</p>

<p><strong>How it Started</strong></p>
<p>The origin of the BIS is in the United States, specifically New York City. The individuals involved were international bankers who, despite past differences, “worked together to establish a world financial order that would incorporate the federal principle of the American central banking system.” Among them were figures like Owen D. Young, J. Pierpont Morgan, Thomas W. Lamont, S. Parker Gilbert, Gates W. McGarrah, and Jackson Reynolds, "who, in conjunction with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, sought to extend the principle of central bank cooperation to the international sphere.”</p>
<p>Before delving further into the creation of the Bank and purpose it has served, and for whom, it's wise to examine some of the more notable of these individuals to better understand why they got involved in the creation of an international bank.</p>

Young was already <a href="http://www.sunnycv.com/steve/ar/dd5/young.html" rel="nofollow">well placed</a> for the U.S. government; “with the cooperation of the American government and the support of GE, [he] organized and became chairman of the board of the Radio Corporation of America” and “in subsequent years he engineered a series of agreements with foreign companies that divided the world into radio zones and facilitated worldwide wireless communication.” Young had a strong belief that global radio service and broadcasting were important for the advancement of civilization. In 1922, he became chairman of General Electric, and along with GE President Gerard Swope, “urged closer business-government cooperation and corporate self-regulation under government supervision.”</p>
<p>During the 1920s, Young became involved in international diplomacy as the foreign affairs spokesman for the Democratic Party. At the behest of then-Secretary of State Charles Evan Hughes, Young and the banker Charles Dawes were recommended to the Allied Reparations Commission to deal with the breakdown in Germany’s reparations payments following World War I. The Commission resulted in the Dawes Plan, which <a href="https://history.state.gov/milestones/1921-1936/dawes" rel="nofollow">allowed</a> that “Germany’s annual reparation payments would be reduced, increasing over time as its economy improved; the full amount to be paid, however, was left undetermined. Economic policy making in Berlin would be reorganized under foreign supervision and a new currency, the Reichsmark, adopted.”</p>
<p>Young viewed improving the world financial structure as important to “the very survival of capitalism.” Furthermore, wrote Frank Costigliola in “The Other Side of Isolationism: The Establishment of the First World Bank, 1929-1930,” Young “sought rather the ‘economic integration’ of the world which would prepare the way for ‘political integration’ and lasting peace.”</p>
<p>John Pierpont Morgan, Jr. was already ensconced in the world of international banking, having inherited the JP Morgan Company from his father. During WWI, the House of Morgan worked hand-in-hand with the British and French governments, engaging in a number of tasks such as floating loans for the two countries, handling foreign exchange operations, and advising officials of each respective country.</p>
<p>Not only Young and Morgan, but each of the above mentioned individuals were heavily involved in politics and banking – and therefore had a personal interest in the creation of a global bank. The plan also fit into the U.S. government’s own policies, writes Costigliola, as Washington wanted to “[keep] aloof from the political entanglements in Europe while safeguarding vital American interests by means of unofficial observers or participants.” The Federal Reserve was also interested in the creation of the BIS, as it would “[promote] both the ascendancy of New York City in world banking and the reconstruction of a stable and prosperous Europe able to absorb American exports.”</p>
<p>Thus, the idea of an international bank didn’t occur in a vacuum but rather, according to Beth A. Simmons, author of <a href="http://dev.wcfia.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/982__WhyInnovate.pdf" rel="nofollow">the article</a> “Why Innovate? Founding the Bank for International Settlements,” its creation “was inextricably tied to the problem of German reparations in the context of Germany's overall debt burden during the 1920s.” A slowdown in international lending to Germany began in 1928 as markets became extremely worried about the internal politics of the Weimar Republic. Due to the breakup of a center coalition government, and with the Social Democrats needing support from right-wing parties, the political situation began to fall apart as “government stability [was] threatened whenever budget debates exposed the basic social divide of unemployment insurance and increased industrial taxation on the one hand versus spending austerity and tax cuts on the other.”</p>
<p>Weimar's budget problems came on the heels of the Reparations Commission determining that Germany’s total reparations came to $33 billion, which was twice the size of the country’s total economy in 1925. As long as foreign capital kept coming into Germany, things might have remained fine; but that situation changed in 1928. Between February 1929 and January 1930, negotiations were carried out to reschedule Germany’s reparations payments. “These negotiations were initiated by central bankers and private actors," writes Simmons, "who were the first to link problems in the capital market with the need to reorganize Germany's financial obligations.” Thus, it should come as no surprise that many of the individuals involved in creating the BIS were central bankers themselves, or engaged in international affairs and finance to some extent.</p>
