NASA’s curiosity rover has found a pyramid on Mars

NASA’s curiosity rover has photographed on of the most interesting images of the surface of Mars ever since it touched down on the red planet in 2012. <i>Curiosity</i> was launched from Cape Canaveral on November 26, 2011, at 10:02 EST aboard the MSL spacecraft and landed on Aeolis Palus in Gale Crater on Mars on August 6, 2012</p>

<p>Ufologists and researchers have already started speculating what this artifact is and according to many it might actually be the cornerstone of a much larger pyramid buried under the Martian sand. Even though many pope suggest that this is just another coincidental rock formation of the red planet, others believe that the perfect geometry of the structure suggest it is an artificially created construction and is not in any way <em>Pareidolia</em> or tricks of light and shadow.</p>

<p>Is this pyramid among the clearest photographic evidence that points toward the existence of artificial structures on Mars built by an earlier civilization? many believe yes.</p>
<p>The “perfect” symmetry of the structure is outstanding and the “pyramid” stands out from the rest of the Martian rocks. The angles and lines of the pyramid are believed to be a telltale sign that differentiates a natural formation from a manmade one.<br />

<p>Despite the remarkable symmetry of the pyramid, none of the Curiosity rover’s subsequent pictures taken at intervals a couple of minutes or hours include the mysterious Martian Pyramid. It seems that the team in charge of Curiosity deliberately chose not to zoom into the mysterious object on the martian surface for further imagery. If they did in fact take more images of the Mysterious “martian pyramid” these were not released to the general public.</p>
<p>Many believe that we have not seen everything what actually happens on the Red Planet. Former NASA employees have come forward suggesting that the agency operates under a veil of secrecy and much of what happens on the red planet has remained as highly confidential information that has been kept secret in a very tight circle inside the agency.</p>
<p>Lately there have been many important discoveries on Mars which could point to the existence of life on the red planet in the distant past.</p>
<p>Is it possible that this “newly discovered” pyramid is the crucial piece of evidence that has missed all along? Is it possible that the Pyramid is in fact the product of extraterrestrial civilizations on the red planet in the distant past? Many suggest that the evidence of intelligent life on the red planet has been abundant, yet we all have decided to ignore it for some reason.</p>
<p>Will the discovery of a pyramid on Mars wake interest of other researchers? Will it change the way we look at the red planet? CEO Ellen Pao oversaw the transition, and became infamous among Reddit users for enacting strict policies that limited the freedom of the website. Due to the controversy that she helped to create, Pao was forced to resign last week, a move that has been celebrated by thousands of Reddit users.</div>

It is unsure whether or not Pao’s resignation will actually bring Reddit back to its former glory, but luckily there are already people working on alternatives that promise to create the experience that Reddit was originally designed to provide.</div>

In an article due to be published in popular German newspaper <em>Die Zeit</em> this coming Thursday, <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/decentralized-currencies-thriving-in-greece-during-euro-crisis/" target="_blank">Greek</a> ex-Finance Minister Yanis <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/greek-ex-finance-minister-owns-german-politician-on-solution-to-eurozone-crisis/" target="_blank">Varoufakis</a> will accuse Germany of hiding the truth about its real aims for Europe, and say his country’s exit from the single currency is all part of a plan hatched a long time ago to ‘discipline’ countries who do not do as they are told. Varoufakis has written an op-ed in order to address Germany’s citizens directly. He will name German Finance Minister Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble as the man behind a conspiracy to re-structure the Eurozone in a way which favors banks over citizens and plutocracy over democracy.<br />
First, a short summary of recent events (you can read the full back story <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/cause-for-celebration-greece-just-told-the-bankers-to-stick-their-loans-and-austerity/" target="_blank">here</a>): Yanis <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/greek-ex-finance-minister-media-is-guilty-of-terrorism-elite-think-democracy-is-irrelevant/" target="_blank">Varoufakis</a> was forced out of office earlier this month after his party Syriza called a referendum, asking the people of <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/with-all-eyes-on-greece-the-stock-market-in-china-may-be-crashing/" target="_blank">Greece</a> whether they wanted to stay in the Eurozone (meaning more debt and more austerity) or say no to more <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/an-alternative-solution-to-greek-crisis-man-sets-up-crowdfunding-campaign-to-pay-back-countrys-debt/" target="_blank">bailout</a> funds and face the consequences. The <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/greece-what-you-are-not-being-told-by-the-media/" target="_blank">Greek</a> people, tired of economic suffering at the hands of European bankers, voted against austerity and further cash injections from the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_troika" target="_blank">Troika</a> (the EC, ECB and IMF). This result was something which Varoufakis and Prime Minister Alexis Tspiras considered a victory-  and yet hours later, Varoufakis had resigned, <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/cause-for-celebration-greece-just-told-the-bankers-to-stick-their-loans-and-austerity/" target="_blank">claiming</a> that powerful figures within the Eurozone had refused to negotiate with Greece further while he was in office.<br />
As an economist and a socialist who spoke passionately and intelligently on behalf of Greece’s weary citzens, Varoufakis was feared and loathed by bankers (but defiantly, he <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/cause-for-celebration-greece-just-told-the-bankers-to-stick-their-loans-and-austerity/" target="_blank">said</a> he would wear their contempt “with pride”.) Now, just days before the German article goes to press, Varoufakis <a href="http://yanisvaroufakis.eu/2015/07/13/dr-schaubles-plan-for-europe-do-europeans-approve-article-to-appear-in-die-zeit-on-thursday-16th-july-2015/" target="_blank">explains</a> on his blog:<br />
‘Five months of intense negotiations between <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/10-very-strange-things-that-have-happened-in-just-the-past-few-weeks/" target="_blank">Greece</a> and the Eurogroup never had a chance of success. Condemned to lead to impasse, their purpose was to pave the ground for what Dr Schäuble had decided was ‘optimal’ well before our government was even elected: That <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/economic-collapse-in-greece-is-finally-sinking-into-the-consciousness-of-its-citizens/" target="_blank">Greece</a> should be eased out of the Eurozone in order to discipline member-states resisting his very specific plan for re-structuring the Eurozone.’<br />
More importantly, Varoufakis claims that Dr Schäuble told him directly that Greece’s exit (commonly known as ‘Grexit’) was part of this long term vision for Europe, and ‘this was the plan well before people’s party Syriza came to power in <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/greek-prime-minister-says-imf-has-criminal-responsibility-for-countrys-debt-crisis/" target="_blank">Greece</a>‘.<br />
Varoufakis wants to make it clear that people understand his position: ‘I wrote this article <strong>not</strong> as a Greek politician critical of the German press’ denigration of our sensible proposals, of Berlin’s refusal seriously to consider our moderate debt re-profiling plan, of the European Central Bank’s highly political decision to asphyxiate our government, of the Eurogroup’s decision to give the ECB the green light to shut down our banks’, he says, thinly masking his feelings on these critical issues. ‘I wrote this article as a European observing the unfolding of a <em>particular</em> Plan for Europe – Dr Schäuble’s Plan.’<br />

The above Financial Times video from February this year documents a meeting between Schäuble and Varoufakis. The reporter notes how Schäuble has been “from the outset very hostile to attempts by Athens to re-write and scrap the existing agreement and to look for something new.” The two men were never going to agree: but now Varoufakis is out of the picture and Greece’s PM Tspiras has suddenly <a href="http://www.cnbc.com/2015/02/23/greek-anger-at-government-u-turn.html" target="_blank">made</a> a shocking U-turn on the referendum result (making huge concessions to Schäuble in what the Greek people have called “treason”), does this spell the end for people-powered politics in Greece?<br />

UK Government Wants to Ban WhatsApp and All Other Encrypted Communications

<p>The U.K. government is eager to expand already extensive spying powers to ban iMessage, Whatsapp, and Snapchat because the government cannot bypass their encryption features. The proposed ban was added to a revived version of a previously repealed British surveillance bill.</p>
<p>Cameron first indicated his advocacy of the ban following the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris in January, justifying it by <a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/whatsapp-and-snapchat-could-be-banned-under-new-surveillance-plans-9973035.html" target="_blank">asking</a>—without a hint of embarrassment—“<i>In our country, do we want to allow a means of communication between people which […] we cannot read</i>?” He quickly answered his own question: “<i>‘</i><i>No, we must not</i>.’”</p>
<p>Cameron’s suggestion was part of a larger push to revive the sweeping Communications Data Bill, which detractors commonly refer to as the “Snooper’s Charter.”</p>
<p>By May, the government had announced it would introduce an investigatory powers bill that extended the powers granted in the Communications Data Bill <i>and</i>strengthened the government’s ability to engage in bulk data collection. The Home Office claimedit would “<i>better equip law enforcement and intelligence agencies to meet their key operational requirements</i>” by allowing them to monitor communications more invasively.</p>
<p>Now, the bill is pushing forward. It includes a provision to ban WhatsApp, iMessage, and Snapchat “<i>to stop people from sending any form of encrypted messages</i>.” The bill also requires internet companies to keep full records of all communications on their platforms. This includes Facebook and Google, which would be required to hand over whatever information the government wants, when it wants it.</p>
<p>In arguing in favor of the expanded powers, Cameron said, “<i>We have always been able, on the authority of the Home Secretary, to sign a warrant and intercept a phone call, a</i> <i>mobile phone</i> <i>call or other media communications.</i>”According to Big Brother Watch, British police file a request for communications data every two minutes. Their requests are granted 96% of the time by the Home Office, a rate almost as high as that of American “rubber stamp” FISA courts. Like Cameron, American officials have criticized encryption as a danger to national security.</p>
<p>By banning all forms of communication exempt from government surveillance, the U.K. government is straddling a dangerous line between “national security,” as it claims to bolster, and the basic privacy rights of its citizens. Many would argue it has long since crossed that line, as intensive surveillance measures have been in place for years. Cameronpontificated this week that “<i>…the question we must ask ourselves is whether, as technology develops, we are content to leave a safe space – a new means of communication – for terrorists to communicate with each other</i>.”</p>
<p>Not everyone in the U.K. agrees with the prime minister’s privacy-versus-security dichotomy. “<i>We take no issue with the use of intrusive surveillance powers per se – targeted surveillance can play an important part in preventing and detecting serious crime</i>,” said Liberty, a human rights and civil liberties advocacy group in the U.K. “<i>But the current regime just doesn’t provide sufficient safeguards to ensure that such surveillance is conducted lawfully, and in a necessary and proportionate way.”</i></p>
<p>Former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, who helped to block the previous version of the Communications Data Bill when he was in office, echoed a similar sentiment about the impending new policy.</p>
<p>“<i>It’s not harmless. It would be a new and dramatic shift in the relationship between the state and the individual</i>,” he said.</p>
<p>“<i>People who blithely say they are happy for their communications to be open to scrutiny because they have ‘nothing to hide’ have failed to grasp something fundamental about open democratic societies: We do not make ourselves safer by making ourselves less free</i>.”</p>
<p>Conservatives in Parliament are expected to pass the bill (previously killed by liberal Democrats in the previous administration) with enforcement as early as 2016, even as computing experts warn the policies may enable the very terrorists they are intended to thwart.</p>

Researchers confirm: The Largest Pyramid in Mexico has been found

<p>Researchers in Mexico have discovered a Pyramid that, according to initial measurements, is larger than the Great Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan.</p>
<p>Initial excavations were done in 2010.</p>
<p>The Pyramid, 75 meters in height, was explored by specialists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instituto_Nacional_de_Antropolog%C3%ADa_e_Historia" target="_blank">INAH</a>) on the acropolis of Tonina, Chiapas, estimated to be around 1700 years old.</p>
<p>Emiliano Gallaga, director of the archaeological zone, explained that work has been done in the last two years, and by means of a three-dimensional.</p>
<p>Researchers verified that in the northeastern part of the site, stands one of the largest construction in Mesoamerica, comparable in size only to great Mayan cities like Tikal and El Mirador in Guatemala.</p>

<p>Another features which makes this “unique” pre-hispanic structure stand out are the seven platforms which integrate it and were specific spaces intended to serve as palaces, temples, housing and administrative units.</p>
<p>It is a unique structure for various specific functions within the social, political, economic and religious structure, which is not repeated in any other archaeological site of the Mayan world stated researchers from INAH.</p>

<p>This is because it was believed that the entire structure was a natural hill, but recent evidence has revealed that the structure was almost entirely built by ancient inhabitants.</p>

<p>Archaeologists added that the pyramid is bigger than we had anticipated. The structure is connected by roads located on top of surrounding elevations.</p>
<p>Gallaga added that, after all of the information, we can confirm that this pyramid exceeds in height the pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan which measures 65 meters.</p>
<p>INAH researchers have determined that the city center had an architectural continuity between 10 and 12 hectares, which is the double of what was previously thought and mainly corresponds to the south facade of the Acropolis, one of the most important Mayan areas known to researchers.</p>
