In spite of the great suffering, there are still many stories of victory and miracles.In one such story out of Pakistan, a 14-year-old girl who was kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam has been rescued and reunited with her family:<blockquote>A 14-year-old Catholic girl in Pakistan, taken from her family in December and forcibly converted to Islam, was rescued on Wednesday (April 26), her lawyer said.Attorney Tahir Bashir said police officer Munir Ahmed on Dec. 6 illegally detained Sumbal Arif of Hafizabad District, Punjab Province and coerced her into converting to Islam while forcing her to live with him, despite attempts by her indigent family to recover her.The girl’s mother, Elizabeth Arif, on April 21 asked Bashir to recover Sumbal from the illegal custody of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Munir Ahmed of Hafizabad Police Station, he said. Bashir said he filed for the recovery of the girl in Lahore High Court, and a court bailiff rescued her from the policeman’s home on April 26 and presented her in court the next day.“The court of Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed has also ordered police to register a case against ASI Munir for keeping the Christian minor girl in illegal detention and forcing her to convert to Islam,” he said.The suspect’s counsel claimed in court that Sumbal had “embraced” Islam, and that ASI Ahmed’s family was looking after her, Bashir said.“But when Justice Shahzad asked Sumbal about the counsel’s claim, she told the judge that she was forced to convert and was being held hostage by the police official,” he said. “She said she wanted to go with her family and not the police official.”The judge then ordered a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against Ahmed and allowed Sumbal to go with her family, he said.Ahmed has not been arrested. The court ordered Gujranwala Regional Police to launch an investigation into accusations against him of enticing Christian girls and forcing them to convert to Islam. Police are to submit conclusions in a report within 10 days.Sumbal’s mother, whose husband died in 2013, said the family lives in a small rented house in the Mohalla Hassan Town area in Hafizabad, one of the two Christian families in a predominantly Muslim neighborhood. The accused policeman, Ahmed, lives in the neighborhood, and his sister-in-law, Mariam Bibi, used to visit at their house often, Arif said.“On Dec. 6, my daughter Sumbal had a quarrel with her sister-in-law Shazia in Mariam’s presence,” Arif said. “Mariam took advantage of the situation and enticed Sumbal to go with her to the ASI’s house.”Mariam Bibi is a Muslim who is involved in the forced conversions and sale of girls, according to Sumbal’s relatives.Arif said that when she went to the police official’s house to get her daughter, she was not allowed to enter.“Munir Ahmed and his wife Muqadas not only refused to return Sumbal but also insulted me,” she said, adding that no one in the neighborhood came to her aid as she vehemently protested.One of her sons, a 27-year-old sweeper at a government office, provides the only source of income for the family, she said.“One day, when Munir was not home, I succeeded in bringing Sumbal back to my house, but as soon as the ASI returned, he came to our house and forcibly took her away with him, claiming that she was a Muslim now and cannot live with a Christian family,” she said. “He also beat up my young sons when they tried to stop him from taking away Sumbal.”Arif said she filed a complaint against the policeman at the same police station where he works.“Our local parish priest, Father Mushtaq Pyara, asked the in-charge of the police station to settle the matter amicably, after which the ASI was told to present Sumbal to record her statement,” she said. “It was quite clear that the ASI had threatened the girl before bringing her to the police station, because she was too scared to speak anything.”Arif added that Ahmed then claimed that Sumbal’s Islamic name was Fatima Noor and wanted to continue living with the Muslim family to practice her new religion.Arif said Ahmed and his wife have a history of enticing young girls and selling them off to Muslim men after changing their religion.Ahmed and his lawyer were unavailable for comment in spite of repeated attempts by Morning Star News to contact them.Attorney Bashir said that Ahmed had admitted before the judge that he had “facilitated” Sumbal’s conversion to Islam. The attorney said that the court had ordered an investigation against Ahmed on grounds that Sumbal had been recovered from his house. Further action, such as registration of a case, would be taken after the submission of the investigation report, he said.Arif said that Sumbal had told her that she was forced to practice Islam during her illegal confinement.“The accused used to force her to do household work and had restricted her from leaving the house,” she said. “It was during her detention there that Sumbal came to know that the police official and his wife were in the business of selling girls for over 10 years.”Sumbal could not escape, as Ahmed had told her that when someone becomes a Muslim they cannot revert back to their old faith and go back to their family, Arif said.“They told her that apostates are liable to be killed, and my poor daughter had started believing that she would not be able to return to us as she would be guilty of apostasy,” she said.The Punjab Criminal Law (Protection of Minorities) Bill, 2016, pending with the Punjab Assembly, proposes that no one below 18 years old shall be deemed to have changed their religion. A law adopted by the Sindh Assembly in November applies the same conditions for religious conversions.Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, addressing a gathering of the Hindu community in Karachi in March, warned against forced conversions and destruction of non-Muslim places of worship, describing such acts as a “crime in Islam.”In his message to minorities, Sharif said, “No one can force others to adopt a certain religion.”“Pakistan didn’t come into existence to be against any religion,” the prime minister said. “It is wrong to consider any religion inferior. I want to see a Pakistan where there are equal opportunities for every person of any religion to progress and make a good life for himself and his family. It does not matter who they are or how old they are, for the mere association with the name of Christ will put a man to death in the most horrible of ways, such as a case where a group of North Korean orphans, some of them Christian were recently tortured for trying to flee the regime:<blockquote>North Korean orphans are "tortured harshly" if it's discovered they're Christian, and the Chinese government is complicit is these atrocities, according to human rights activists and freedom advocates for North Korea.Several human rights advocates, including a North Korean defector who wore sunglasses to conceal her identity, told harrowing accounts of orphaned children in North Korea and refugees living in China to draw attention to their plight during a panel held at Georgetown University on Wednesday.The event was part of the week-long North Korean Freedom Week sponsored by the North Korean Freedom Coalition, hosted by the Isabella Foundation and Georgetown's Truth and Human Rights in North Korea.Lim Hye-Jin of the New Korea Women's Union recounted through a translator one such story about the North Korean dictatorship's treatment of 17 North Korean orphans who decided to defect and made their home under a bridge in China. They were arrested and detained at a detention center in China and forcibly repatriated to North Korea. Three of the 17 were discovered to be Christians and were sent to a political prison camp."Under North Korean law, children under the age of 18 should not be sent to a political prison camp. But in this case, they were found to be Christians and had been in a church, [so] they were separated from their group" where they were "tortured harshly" while the other orphans were sent to a reeducation camp with other children, Lim said.The North Korean security agents found out that they were Christians because they discovered calluses on their knees, as they had been praying for a long time for God to help them, Lim said.The other 14 orphans were told that the three Christian orphans who had been separated from the group had been sent back to an orphanage in North Korea. But those children told Lim that if that was so, they knew that they would try to escape because they were "100 percent sure" they would starve to death if they had stayed in the orphanage. They at least had a chance at survival begging in the streets....Suzanne Scholte, founder and president of the Defense Forum Foundation, who co-hosted the panel, noted that North Korean refugees are unlike any others worldwide because they have a place to go for immediate resettlement as they are citizens of South Korea under the South Korean Constitution."There's no reason for China to continue this brutal inhumane policy of how they deal with the North Korean refugees and the orphans," Scholte added, noting that the crisis could be solved overnight if the Chinese government would abide by its international treaty obligations.The severe persecution of Christians in North Korea isn't new. Open Door USA consistently ranks the totalitarian nation as the most oppressive place in the world for Christians.The Christian Post asked the panel why the North Korean regime considers Christianity particularly threatening so as to even torture children."The Kim regime established itself using some of the doctrine of the Christian faith," Scholte explained, adding that Kim Il Sung, the first of the Kim dynasty, recognized the power of the faith since many of those who stood up to Japanese oppressors were Christians and were instrumental in the Korean independence movement even though they were a small minority of the population.But Kim Il Sung "perverted it for his own purposes, setting himself up as God," she said, appropriating his son as the Christ figure and "Juche," which means "self-reliance," for the Holy Spirit. The regime has a creed of its own which is patterned after the Apostles Creed, which declares religious allegiance to the dictatorship."So if you're a Christian and you believe in God [and not the dictator] that's a direct threat to the regime," she said. Can you guess?It's because I find its timing questionable.The persecution of Christians in North Korea is not new. In fact, it has been going on for a long time and is really horrific. There is a reason why for many years North Korea has been listed as the most dangerous place in the world to be a Christian in, because as part of the obsessive drive for control that the North Korean government has, in which the official state religion is a worship of the Kim family- which is again something that has been known about for a long time- those who are caught having any affiliation with Christianity are horribly tortured to death in the same ways that we have seen take place in many Muslim lands. If there is a land that one might consider to be a hell on earth in combination with the religious persecution and the extreme limitations which the government puts on public utilities and how the majority of people live in miserable, absolute poverty, North Korea fits that definition to a degree.The world has known this. America has known this and yet so little has been actually done by America outside of an occasional statement. But now, as America beats the proverbial war drums to start a war with North Korea, is when all of a sudden there is public mention of the Kim cult and his persecution of Christians coming to light.You might call me cynical, but I call this targeted outrage.In past articles, I have written about a program of psychological warfare against the American people called <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Northwoods">Operation Northwoods</a>. This was a program during the 1960s in which the CIA was going to pretend to be a group of Cuban terrorists who would capture unknowing American citizens, torture, and execute some of them publicly before being "defeated" by American military forces. The purpose of this would be to incite public anger against Fidel Castro so to justify an American invasion of Cuba on the false assumption that they attacked us.Our own government was willing to murder the very people it is supposed to protect so that it could send more people to die in wars it wants purely for economic and geopolitical gain. Somebody- the groups of people- willing to destroy other people's lives solely to justify acquiring power for the sake of power is one of the gravest evils that a man can commit against his neighbor. It strikes deeply at any concept of social trust, and is a formula for sowing dissent and revolution. Now while Operation Northwoods never took place as was planned, the concept which it was based on has prevailed and remains a central part of American foreign policy. A petty dictator of a weak nation.North Korea is in no position to attack anybody. Their ruler is a petty man who for all purposes seems to view North Korea as his personal playground, and for most of his life he was more concerned with indulging himself in childish fantasies. Yes, he has nuclear weapons, but former <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/may/09/nuclear.northkorea">American Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld himself was involved in the transaction</a>. This was no accident, just like how the rise of the Taliban and ISIS were no accident either. These things were done with the purpose of manufacturing a specific outcome. In the case of North Korea, we are seeing that with the anti-Russian and anti-Chinese statements coming out of the Trump administration, the purpose is clear, that "North Korean aggression" might be used as a flashpoint to trigger a war against the Chinese and even more importantly as far at the US is concerned, against the Russians.In layman's terms, we gave big weapons to a loose cannon knowing he would try to do crazy things with them, and then use his crazy behavior to go to war against the few allies he has. It's not about North Korea- it's about China and Russia.Make no mistake, I am not saying that the persecution of Christians in North Korea should be ignored. We have a moral responsibility to discuss it and help to stop the evils that have been taking place there as we can. Details emerged that the Christians had been attacked followed by a dispute between Christian and Muslim teens. The assailants had brutally bashed Christians, leaving them severely injured.In keeping with details, the attack was launched as vengeance after Afaq Masih, son of Pulus Masih got engaged in a brawl with Shani, a Muslim man. Afaq Masih, is a Christian teen is resident of the neighborhood attacked by the assailants. Shani had purportedly snatched Afaq’s mobile phone, which landed both of them in a punch-up.The alleged assailants identified as Hafiz, Hamza, Saghar, Asif Jamil, Shani, Kashi, Mazhar and others stormed into the Christians’ neighborhood and stated harassing and threatening the local Christians. Local Christians claim there were 21 assailants, who has perpetrated the attack.The armed men pitilessly, bashed every person who came in their sight on the streets. What is more they stormed into the houses of Christians and stated beating the Christians. They also resorted to aerial firing, therefore, causing terrors and harassment in the entire neighborhood.The attackers did not spare Christian women, and beat them also. Consequently, Christians informed the incident to the local police, therefore an FIR (First Information Report) was lodged at the Police Station City. The attackers have not been arrested so far, as Christians complain police are unwilling to hook them because of their ties with a religious out-fit.Expressing deep concerns about the situation and security of the Christians in the neighborhood, Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill stated: “Christians are most vulnerable community in Pakistani society. Based upon trivial disputes they are being attacked, tortured all this because of the lack of implementation of rule of law.”He went on to explain: “Such extremists have their ties with Islamic militants group which encourage them to persecute Christians, therefore, the government must provide security to the victims.” Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill who heads LEAD- an advocacy group urged the government to ensure security of the residents of the Christian neighborhood, so that more attacks may be prevented in future. Other religious minorities, such as Christians, have also been heavily targeted.Grande's comments echo previous statements of former Yazidi sex slaves who've alluded to the abuses they suffered at the hands of IS radicals.Last year, Nadia Murad, one such survivor, began speaking at meetings around the world about the plight of Yazidis, explaining that what IS is making women go through is "more difficult than death.""A year and a half has passed and the genocide against the Yazidis is continuous. We die every day because we see the world silent in the face of our plight," Murad said at the time."My mother saw them killing my brothers and then they took my mother and killed her. I was already orphaned as I didn't have a father, all I had in the war was my mother," she added.Murad revealed that IS has been selling girls as young as 9 for sex.She spoke further about the radical jihadists' mindset in an interview with CNN in March, saying: "They sold girls, girls that were underage, because ISIS considered that permissible under Islamic law.""They came not just to attack certain people, but they came for all Yazidis."International human rights lawyers, such as Amal Clooney, have expressed concerns that not a single IS militant has been prosecuted for their war crimes."This is a global threat. It needs a global response. And part of that response must be a judicial one. It cannot be only on the battlefield. You can't defeat ISIS on the battlefield alone, because you have to also deal with future recruiting," Clooney said at the time."I think trials and exposing the brutality of ISIS and trying to make a dent in some of their shiny propaganda by showing that it's not a holy war and showing what they're really doing to children, to women, is one way to help that," she added.Lieutenant-General Othman al-Ghanimi of the coalition army seeking to retake Mosul has meanwhile expressed hopes that the terror group will be driven out of the all important city "in a maximum of three weeks," according to the state-run newspaper al-Sabah on Sunday.Iraqi military sources have warned that the terror group, even if or when eventually driven out of Mosul, will still be in control of vast swaths of land in Iraq close to the border with Syria, however.</blockquote>
