White House Claims Gender Reassignment Surgery ‘Saves Lives’

The Biden administration absurdly came out in favor of child genital mutilation Thursday.
In a statement pushing back on <a href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/pedo-panic-groomer-left-melts-down-as-agenda-to-sexualize-children-exposed/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">accusations of pedophilia and sexual grooming of children against the left</a>, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the White House supports “gender-reaffirming” surgery for transgender children.
“Across the country, as we’ve talked about a bit in here, Republican elected officials are engaging in a disturbing, cynical trend of attacking vulnerable transgender kids for purely partisan, political reasons,” Psaki said.

“To be clear, every major medical association agrees that gender-affirming healthcare for transgender kids is a best practice and potentially lifesaving,” Psaki claimed.
Contrastingly, a <a href="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0016885" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">long-term Swedish study in 2011</a> found transsexual people who underwent sex reassignment surgery “had an increased risk for suicide attempts,” as noted by <a href="https://www.heritage.org/gender/commentary/sex-reassignment-doesnt-work-here-the-evidence" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Dr. Ryan T. Anderson</a>.
“The <a href="http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0016885">most thorough follow-up of sex-reassigned people</a>—extending over 30 years and conducted in Sweden, where the culture is strongly supportive of the transgendered—documents their lifelong mental unrest. Ten to 15 years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to 20 times that of comparable peers,” Dr. Anderson explained in 2018.
So much for “livesaving.”
Psaki concluded that the Biden administration would hold states accountable for blocking transgender minors from surgically mutilating their bodies.

Across the country, as we’ve talked about a bit in here, Republican elected officials are engaging in a disturbing, cynical trend of attacking vulnerable transgender kids for purely partisan, political reasons. 
Today in Alabama, instead of focusing on critical kitchen-table issues like the economy, COVID, or addressing the country’s mental health crisis, Republican lawmakers are currently debating legislation that, among many things, would target trans youth with tactics that threatens to put pediatricians in prison if they provide medically necessary, lifesaving healthcare for the kids they serve.
Just like the extreme government overreach we’ve seen in Texas, where politicians have sent state officials into the homes of loving parents to investigate them for abuse — just to harass and intimidate the LGBTQI+ community — today’s vote in Alabama will only serve to harm kids. 
But Alabama’s lawmakers and other legislators who are contemplating these discriminar- — discriminatory bills have been put on notice by the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services that laws and policies preventing care that healthcare professionals recommend for transgender minors may violate the Constitution and federal law.
To be clear, every major medical association agrees that gender-affirming healthcare for transgender kids is a best practice and potentially lifesaving.
All of this begs an important question: What are these policies actually trying to solve for?  LGBTQI+ people can’t be erased or forced back into any closets, and kids across our nation should be allowed to be who they are without the threat that their parents or their doctor could be imprisoned simply for helping them and loving them.
President Biden has committed in both words and actions to fight for all Americans and will not hesitate to hold these states accountable.

What Congress’s sanctions on Russia would do

After weeks of debate, Congress has finally approved its first sanctions on Russia, spurred on by new reports of war crimes in Ukraine.
Lawmakers passed two bills aimed at levying severe penalties on Russia and providing more support for Ukraine on Thursday. The legislation, the <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/7108/text">Suspending Normal Trade Relations with Russia and Belarus Act</a> and the <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/6968">Suspending Energy Imports From Russia Act</a>, covers much of the same ground as sanctions the White House has already put in place, but underscores the degree of bipartisan support for such punishments.
These bills codify the Biden administration’s ban on Russian oil imports and revoke normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus. They also go further than existing sanctions by reauthorizing the Magnitsky Act, which allows the US government to sanction individuals for human rights violations.
Additionally, the Senate passed legislation on Wednesday which <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/04/06/senate-unanimously-approves-lend-lease-00023668">establishes a lend-lease agreement</a> that enables the US to loan weapons which Ukraine can pay for at a later time. The House has yet to consider this bill, however, and won’t take it up before an upcoming recess.
Until this week, sanctions legislation has been bogged down in the Senate due to Republican concerns.
Ultimately, lawmakers faced pressure to get something done before they left for a two-week recess on Friday, particularly following <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/04/briefing/russia-ukraine-war-briefing-bucha-warcrimes.html">reports of hundreds of civilian casualties</a> and evidence of torture in Bucha, Ukraine.
“If anybody ever justified the revocation of normal trade relations, it’s Vladimir Putin and the Russians for their conduct … and all this grotesque barbarism over the weekend and into the week,” Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) told reporters on Wednesday.
<h3>What Congress’s sanctions would do</h3>
The Senate had struggled to come together on a sanctions package, despite longstanding bipartisan interest in doing so, largely due to the concerns of two GOP senators, whose buy-in was needed for a vote to move forward quickly.
In recent weeks, Republicans have held up a vote as they demanded specific changes. Two weeks ago, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) took issue with Magnitsky Act provisions which established the human rights violations that could warrant sanctions. He argued the bill was too broad regarding what counted as a violation, and could lead to Democrats sanctioning people for actions like blocking abortion access.
“We’ve just told them they need to put the definition in there of what a human rights abuse is,” <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/599819-rand-paul-standoff-throws-russia-bills-into-limbo/">Paul said at the time</a>. “But we won’t let them pass it unless they put it in there so they’re either going to put it in there or they’re going to be here for a week doing it.”
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), meanwhile, had pushed for a lend-lease agreement to be considered along with existing sanctions bills.
Both lawmakers’ issues were eventually resolved. The language in the Magnitsky Act provision was changed to focus on “gross” human rights violations instead of “serious” human rights violations. And Cornyn also received a vote on his lend-lease legislation.
Both chambers have now passed two sanctions bills, which cover the following provisions:
<ul>
<li>Oil ban: The oil ban bars Russian imports of oil, natural gas, and coal, codifying an action Biden already took last month.</li>
<li>Revocation of normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus: Biden had previously announced his support of repealing normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus, but required congressional authorization to fully implement it. Changing the trade status of these two countries enables the US to impose higher tariffs on imported goods.</li>
<li>Reauthorizing the Magnitsky Act: The proposal would also reauthorize <a href="https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/IF/IF10576">the Magnitsky Act</a>, which enables the US government to sanction individuals and entities that have committed human rights violations by denying them entry into the country, freezing assets held by US financial institutions, and preventing Americans from engaging in business transactions with them.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Congress’s actions back up what the administration has done</h3>
Many of Congress’s actions bolster moves that Biden has already made.
Because of the broad authority the president was given under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) in 1977, the executive branch is able to implement most sanctions on its own, says Adam Smith, a sanctions attorney who previously worked on the issue in the Obama administration.
“I can’t think of any legislative obligation that was given to any executive that they couldn’t have assumed him or herself,” Smith told Vox.
By passing sanctions, however, Congress is sending a message that the US government is united in its support for Ukraine and its focus on holding Russia accountable. Additionally, it’s using legislation to further empower the president, while giving Congress some jurisdiction over when penalties can be lifted.
In the case of revoking normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus, for example, Congress’s actions strengthen Biden’s ability to impose more tariffs, and show that he has the backing of members of both parties in doing so.
These bills, however, can also make it tougher to roll back sanctions: When it comes to both bills, the president would need to submit certifications to Congress in order to remove the penalties, a safeguard against reversing the punishments before Russia has stopped its invasion.

Migrants at this bus stop shared that they were paying for their own bus tickets, however, they received “free” phones from the NGOs helping them.

Megyn Kelly Slams 3rd Grade Son’s School For ‘Trying To Recruit’ Him Into Being Transgender

During a Tuesday broadcast, Sirius XM podcast host Megyn Kelly criticized a private school her son used to attend in New York City for pushing kids to question their genders and for promoting sex-change operations.
Speaking with Daily Wire host Andrew Klavan, Kelly explained her son was asked by teachers at his former NYC school if he’s sure he’s “really a boy,” if he “could possibly be a girl.”
This type of conversation wasn’t directed towards her son because he was signaling any specific issue, but was instead directed towards the entire third-grade class.

“They were saying this to his entire third-grade class. Third-grade class,” Kelly emphasized. “You could take puberty blockers and then when you get to be 18 you can have an operation to have your penis chopped off and build a vagina. And you’ll be a woman.”
She continued, “This literally happened to my son’s class of eight and nine-year-olds, and hence we are no longer at that school, one of the best schools in the nation.”
However, Kelly noted that the anonymous top-ranked school “is not” as great as it is said to be “if they are abusing your child every day.”
Klavan responded by describing to Kelly that the parental input into the beliefs of children is being intentionally eroded by the modern education system.
He told her a school like the one her child attended was “violating a basic first principle of your rights.”
