NY Gov May Soon End Mask Mandate As First Responders Block Brooklyn Bridge In Protest

With New York’s statewide mandate requiring proof of vaccination or a mask to enter an indoor business expiring on Wednesday, Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul recently hinted she may let it come to an end.
On Wednesday, Hochul told New Yorkers, “We put some protections in place to help our workplaces, help our employees and customers. We will be having a conversation about that, if you can just hold on until Wednesday’s news conference.”
The state’s mandatory mask policy for schools expires on February 21.
“We are going to assess our situation here in New York,” the governor said regarding the school mask mandate. “I’m going to continue to head in that direction, we are hoping to get to that, I’ve said that for weeks that is our goal.”

Meanwhile, hundreds of New York City first responders and other concerned citizens marched across the Brooklyn Bridge on Monday in a demonstration against vaccine mandates, vaccine passports, mask mandates and more.

The city employee protesters marched from Metro Tech in Downtown Brooklyn, over the Brooklyn Bridge, and all the way to City Hall.
An estimated 4,000 NYC employees have until Friday to submit their vaccination cards or lose their jobs.
Democrat New York City Mayor Eric Adams said the city workers are quitting on the Big Apple.
“They’re not being terminated, they are quitting,” he said. “Because if the rules of you being employed means vaccinated and you’re not, that is a decision you’re making not a decision we’re making as a city. I say don’t quit on New York. Take your vaccine and booster shot.”
Also on Monday, Democrat New Jersey <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/07/nyregion/nj-school-mask-mandate-murphy.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Governor Phil Murphy announced</a> his state’s school mask mandate will end in the second week of March.
The Democrat governors of both Connecticut and Delaware followed Murphy’s lead.

A dad from Ireland says he feels guilty for getting his 10-year-old son vaccinated after the boy reportedly suffered a nearly fatal heart issue while playing at school.
In a solemn <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@sean_eile/video/7061345489429482757?is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TikTok video</a>, Sean Eile describes how the Covid-19 vaccine given on January 15 almost led to his son’s death two weeks later.

“Everyone in the house is vaccinated. I got my youngest son vaccinated on the 15th of January, and two weeks later, on the 31 of January, he was playing in school, and he had a… well I’ll show you,” Elie says holding up a printout of an EKG showing an extremely fast heart rate.
“He basically died,” Eile continued, adding, “The ambulance was able to [resuscitate] him.”
The man says despite the boy and his family never having suffered any past heart issues, doctors refused to acknowledge any possible link to the Covid-19 vaccine.
“We’ve been told, ‘No, it’s nothing to do with the vaccine…because it only happened once.’ I don’t know,” Eile said, before adding he feels “proper guilty” about getting the boy vaccinated.
“The fact that the consultant in the hospital denied any link, so that it won’t be recorded as associated with the vaccine – that’s not good,” the dad says.

Early Facebook investor Peter Thiel plans to resign from its parent company Meta’s board, the company announced on Monday.
Thiel’s departure is significant because he is a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-09-15/peter-thiel-gamed-silicon-valley-tech-trump-taxes-and-politics?sref=qYiz2hd0">rare outspoken supporter of Donald Trump</a> among Silicon Valley business leaders, and has been a key adviser to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on political issues.
Thiel is reportedly leaving to focus on supporting candidates running for office who align with the Trump agenda, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/07/technology/peter-thiel-facebook.html">the New York Times</a> and <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/peter-thiel-at-center-of-facebooks-internal-divisions-on-politics-11576578601">the Wall Street Journal</a>.
During the 2016 elections, Thiel <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-09-15/peter-thiel-gamed-silicon-valley-tech-trump-taxes-and-politics?sref=qYiz2hd0">became one of Trump’s strongest allies</a> among largely left-leaning tech leaders. The famously contrarian business leader has drawn criticism inside and outside of Facebook because of his politics. Former Meta board member and Netflix CEO Reed Hastings reportedly told Thiel in August 2016 that he displayed <a href="https://www.vox.com/2017/8/8/16116662/facebook-board-reed-hastings-peter-thiel-donald-trump">“catastrophically bad judgment”</a> for publicly supporting Trump, according to an email <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/08/technology/the-culture-wars-have-come-to-silicon-valley.html?referer=">reported by Times</a>. But during Trump’s presidency, Zuckerberg turned to Thiel for advice — such as when he seemed to listen to Thiel’s input not to bow to public pressure to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/peter-thiel-at-center-of-facebooks-internal-divisions-on-politics-11576578601">fact-check political ads</a> in 2019, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
“Peter has been a valuable member of our board and I’m deeply grateful for everything he has done for our company — from believing in us when few others would, to teaching me so many lessons about business, economics, and the world,” said Zuckerberg, in part, in a <a href="https://investor.fb.com/investor-news/press-release-details/2022/Peter-Thiel-to-Retire-from-Meta-Board-of-Directors-at-2022-Annual-Shareholder-Meeting/default.aspx">company press release</a> on Monday about Thiel’s plans.
Thiel was an early investor in Facebook, and has served on the company’s board since its infancy in 2005. He’s given Zuckerberg key leadership advice during formative moments, including <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2016/08/25/mark-zuckerberg-shares-the-best-piece-of-advice-peter-thiel-ever-gave-him.html">encouraging the CEO to take bigger risks</a>. Previously, Thiel co-founded and was CEO of PayPal; he is also currently chairman of <a href="https://www.vox.com/recode/2020/7/16/21323458/palantir-ipo-hhs-protect-peter-thiel-cia-intelligence">data analytics firm Palantir</a>.
“It has been a privilege to work with one of the great entrepreneurs of our time,” said Thiel in a <a href="https://investor.fb.com/investor-news/press-release-details/2022/Peter-Thiel-to-Retire-from-Meta-Board-of-Directors-at-2022-Annual-Shareholder-Meeting/default.aspx">Meta press release</a> on Monday. “Mark Zuckerberg’s intelligence, energy, and conscientiousness are tremendous. His talents will serve Meta well as he leads the company into a new era.”
In the liberal bubble of Silicon Valley, Thiel established a reputation as a political contrarian. He contributed millions to super PACs that <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/16/technology/peter-thiel-donald-j-trump.html">supported Trump’s campaign</a>, spoke at the <a href="https://www.vox.com/2016/7/21/12254284/peter-thiel-rnc-republican-national-convention">Republican National Convention</a> on Trump’s behalf, and served as an <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-38315682">adviser to Trump</a>. He also drew headlines for being the secret funder of a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2016/05/25/peter-thiel-tech-billionaire-reveals-secret-war-with-gawker.html">lawsuit against the blog Gawker</a> that drove the company <a href="https://www.vox.com/2016/8/18/12539390/gawker-dot-com-shutting-down-why">out of business</a> in 2016 (the website restarted last year <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/28/business/media/gawker-return.html">under new ownership</a>).
Former Facebook public policy director Katie Harbath, who was the company’s first Republican employee in DC, said that Thiel’s politics may have been a distraction from the company’s business agenda.
“I don’t think that Mark [Zuckerberg] wants politics or anything interfering with this attempt to pivot toward the metaverse, so I guess it’s somewhat of a long time coming,” said Harbath. The big question now is whether Meta will decide to replace Thiel’s position, and if so, if that person will also be openly conservative.
“My biggest concern is diversity of thought and voices,” said Harbath.
Zuckerberg still retains majority voting power over Meta’s board, so the decision about who might replace Thiel is up to the CEO. But Thiel’s departure will inevitably shift the political dynamics of the company’s leadership, given Thiel’s stance firmly to the right of most tech business leaders.

In the past, athletes held their skis tight underneath their bodies in a parallel position. Keeping the body in a straight line like this was considered elegant and appealing. But more importantly, it was the position they used to gather as much distance as possible. This position made athletes thin and small, which allowed them to move forward through the air quickly. However, the parallel position didn’t do much to help them fight gravity.
In the 1980s, ski jumper Jan Boklov tested out a different ski position — one that resembled a V. He noticed that the V shape allowed him to fly farther.
That’s because, unlike the parallel position, the V position allows air to hit athletes’ bodies directly. Instead of only cutting through the air quickly, they’re using their body to catch air like a wing. This effect lifts athletes up, allowing them to stay airborne longer — and go farther. This small change revolutionized the sport, and since then, gold-medal winners have used the V style to make it to the podium.

A SUNY professor is under investigation after video clips emerged of him asserting that “it’s a mistake” to think pedophilia is wrong and that there are “evolutionary advantages to child/adult sex.”
Yes, really.
SUNY Fredonia professor Stephen Kershnar teaches teaches libertarian philosophy and applied ethics at the university.
As part of his libertarian philosophy, Kershnar believes that society’s reaction to pedophilia is what’s wrong, and that consenting sexual relationships between adults and children could actually be a good thing.
“Imagine that an adult male wants to have sex with a 12-year-old girl. Imagine that she’s a willing participant. A very standard, very widely held view is that there’s something deeply wrong about this. It’s wrong independent of it being criminalized,” said Kershnar.
“It’s not obvious to me that it’s in fact wrong,” he continued. “I think this is a mistake. And I think exploring that why it’s a mistake will tell us not only things about adult/sex and statutory rape and also fundamental principles of morality.”
Kershnar asserted that there was no minimum age at which pedophilia could be considered wrong.

He went on to assert that in some foreign cultures, grandmas perform oral sex on baby boys to calm them down, adding, “It’s hard to see what would be wrong with it.”
The professor said claims that it’s wrong because kids “can’t understand” sex can be countered by pointing to other activities children enter into but don’t fully understand, such as judo tournaments or bar mitzvahs.

Kershnar went on to claim there were “evolutionary advantages” to child/adult sex and that there were a “surprising number of college age males” who show an attraction to pre-pubescent children.
“So it’s fairly widespread among young men particularly young men in our society,” he claimed.
Another clip features Kershnar insisting that society’s reaction to pedophilia is what’s wrong with it, not the act itself.

SUNY Fredonia President Stephen H. Kolison responded to the controversy by saying Kershnar’s comments were “reprehensible” and that the matter is under investigation.

The mainstreaming of pedophilia is a cultural trend that has crept up as society becomes more degenerate and moral relativism takes hold.
Spouting the same sentiment as Kershnar, a “non-binary” associate professor at Old Dominion University recently <a href="https://summit.news/2021/11/12/non-binary-assistant-professor-calls-for-pedophilia-to-be-delegitimized/">called</a> for the “stigma” of pedophilia to be ‘delegitimized’.

Police Threaten Arrests For People Giving Fuel to Freedom Convoy

The unelected bureaucrat governors of the EU in the European Commission have proposed keeping the bloc’s COVID vaccine passport system in place for another entire year, despite the fact that many member countries are ramping down restrictions.
In a <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_22_744">notice</a> on its website, the Commission states “Today the European Commission is proposing to extend the EU Digital COVID Certificate by a year, until 30 June 2023.”
It continues, “The COVID-19 virus continues to be prevalent in Europe and at this stage it is not possible to determine the impact of a possible increase in infections in the second half of 2022 or of the emergence of new variants.”
“Extending the Regulation will ensure that travellers can continue using their EU Digital COVID Certificate when travelling in the EU where Member States maintain certain public health measures,” the statements adds.
It continues, “The Commission is adopting the proposal today to make sure the European Parliament and the Council can conclude the legislative procedure in time before the current Regulation expires.”
The move comes even as <a href="https://www.euronews.com/travel/2022/01/17/what-s-the-latest-on-european-travel-restrictions">several countries</a>, including <a href="https://apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-health-business-sweden-public-health-8650596378aa96b985665d3cf8a979b3">Denmark</a>, Norway, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/italy-set-ease-covid-restrictions-draghi-says-2022-02-02/">Italy</a>, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/coronavirus-pandemic-health-lifestyle-europe-restaurants-a1cb094b0643ffb120690783b7382b2b">Sweden</a>, <a href="https://www.france24.com/en/france/20220203-france-eases-covid-vaccine-pass-rules-says-pass-could-be-scrapped-before-july">France</a>, in addition to non-EU countries such as <a href="https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/switzerland-plans-to-drop-requirement-of-swiss-covid-certificates-for-tourists/">Switzerland</a> and <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/uk-covid-restrictions-cases-boris-johnson-ends-rules-england/">England</a> move to scrap restrictions including the vaccine passes.
The European Commission admits in its statement that it is up to the individual countries whether they carry on using the EU COVID vaccine passport scheme.
“The domestic use of EU Digital COVID Certificates remains a matter for Member States to decide, the statement notes, adding “The EU legislation on the EU Digital COVID Certificate neither prescribes nor prohibits the domestic use of EU Digital COVID Certificate (such as for access to events or restaurants).”
It also notes that “At the same time, where a Member State establishes a system of COVID-19 certificate for domestic purposes, it should continue to ensure that the EU Digital COVID Certificate is also fully accepted for those purposes. Beyond that, the Commission also encourages Member States to align their domestic validity periods with the validity period set at EU level for the purpose of travel.”
As we <a href="https://summit.news/2021/11/11/despite-vaccine-passport-schemes-covid-cases-surging-across-europe/">reported in November</a>, despite vaccine passport schemes and high vaccination rates in many of the countries affected, COVID cases across Europe continued to surge as winter kicked in.

In addition, <a href="https://summit.news/2021/12/03/spanish-investigation-finds-vaccine-passports-have-no-impact-on-infection-rates/">a recent investigation by experts in Spain</a> concluded that vaccine passports have no significant impact on reducing COVID-19 infection rates.
The findings are similar to <a href="https://summit.news/2021/10/26/leaked-government-report-finds-vaccine-passports-could-actually-increase-spread-of-covid/">evidence found by the UK government</a> that vaccine passports could actually increase Covid rates in the country.
The Spanish study noted that the only positives of such a scheme are that it “warns people that there is still danger from the pandemic and encourages vaccination uptake among the reticent.”
In other words, although vaccine passports have no discernible impact on their stated goal – reducing the spread of COVID-19 – they do succeed in keeping people fearful and compliant.
That conclusion dovetails with a <a href="https://summit.news/2021/12/20/french-health-minister-admits-vaccine-passports-are-a-disguised-vaccine-mandate/">recent admission by French Minister of Health Olivier Véran</a> that the vaccine passports are “a disguised form of vaccination obligation,” but are “more effective.”
