Rand Paul Bashes Fauci Amid Annual “Festivus” Celebration: “Damn That Guy is Wrong a LOT”

<p><strong>As is the yearly tradition, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) celebrated the Seinfeld–based Festivus holiday by spelling out his problems with wasteful government spending and petty covid tyrants.</strong></p>
<p>Following a year of Covid restrictions, lockdowns and mask mandates, Paul had plenty to complain about via Twitter Thursday, where he took issue with Democrats who salivated over Covid lockdown measures.</p>

<p>The money will be targeted towards 530,000 people in the worst-affected areas, who are in dire need of health logistics, access to drinking water, and sanitation facilities.</p>
<p>"There is momentum for full support," said Gonzalez. "Now the challenge is that all of this announcement and solidarity is rapidly translated into concrete actions."</p>
<p>Super Typhoon Rai devastated parts of the Philippines one week ago, leaving at least 375 people dead, largely in the south and center of the island chain.</p>
<p>It destroyed homes, uprooted trees, and knocked out power for many cities across the country.</p>

<p>New York reported a "staggering" number of new Covid cases, nearly 11,000, across the city's five boroughs on Wednesday, the mayor said.</p>

<p>WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Thursday filed an application to appeal to Britain's Supreme Court against a lower court's ruling this month that he can be extradited to the United States.</p>
<p>US authorities accuse Australian-born Assange, 50, of 18 counts relating to WikiLeaks' release of vast troves of confidential US military records and diplomatic cables which they said had put lives in danger.</p>
<p>On December 10, Assange moved a step closer to facing criminal charges in the United States after Washington won an appeal over his extradition in London's High Court.</p>
<p>The court said it was satisfied with a package of assurances given by the US about the conditions of Assange's detention, including a pledge not to hold him in a so-called "ADX" maximum security prison in Colorado and that he could be transferred to Australia to serve his sentence if convicted.</p>
<p>The Supreme Court is the United Kingdom's final court of appeal.</p>
<p>Assange's fiancée, Stella Moris, said the High Court's ruling raised three points of law of general public importance that have an impact on the procedural and human rights safeguards of a wide range of other types of cases.</p>
<p>"Under English law, in order for the application to have a chance to be considered by the Supreme Court, first the same High Court judges who ordered Julian Assange's extradition must certify that at least one of the Supreme Court appeal grounds is a point of law of general public importance," she said in a statement.</p>
<p>She said the application for leave to appeal is currently under consideration by the High Court judges. A decision is not expected before the third week of January.</p>

<p>US actor James Franco said he regretted sleeping with students at his film school, breaking his silence on allegations of sexual misconduct in an interview aired Thursday.</p>
<p>Oscar nominee Franco was publicly accused by five women in 2018 of exploitative behavior including during nude scenes at his Studio 4 school in North Hollywood.</p>
<p>"Look, I'll admit, I did sleep with students," Franco, 43, said in his first major interview on the allegations with The Jess Cagle Show on SiriusXM.</p>
<p>"Over the course of my teaching, I did sleep with students, and that was wrong. But like I said, it's not why I started the school."</p>
<p>Franco and his lawyers have previously denied allegations that he had simulated oral sex on several actresses, and removed a clear plastic guard that covered their vaginas.</p>
<p>He was also accused of using his film school to ensnare sexually available women, asking female students to dance around him topless in an unscripted scene, and making "everybody think there were possible roles on the table if we were to perform sexual acts or take off our shirts."</p>
<p>In the interview with Cagle, Franco denied sleeping with students who were enrolled in his class entitled "sex scenes," and said the class simply had a "provocative title" but did not specifically feature instruction on intimate scenes.</p>
<p>"It wasn't a master plan on my part," he said.</p>
<p>"But, yes, there were certain instances where I was in a consensual thing with a student and I shouldn't have been."</p>
<p>Pressed on how he could not have understood the power imbalance between a Hollywood star and their student, Franco said he had replaced his teenage alcohol addiction with an addiction to sex and his own celebrity.</p>
<p>"I suppose at the time my thinking was 'if it's consensual, okay.'</p>
<p>"Of course, I knew... I talked to other people, other teachers... it's probably not a cool thing.</p>
<p>"At the time I was not clear-headed as I've said. So it just comes down to my criteria was like, 'if this is consensual, I think it's cool. We're all adults.'"</p>
