Texas Announces Election Audit in Four Counties — Democrats Melt Down

<p><strong>The Texas Secretary of State’s Office announced the state will conduct a forensic audit of the 2020 presidential election in four counties.</strong></p>
<p>The audit will focus on Houston, Dallas, Tarrant, and Collin counties — the two largest Democrat and two largest Republican counties in the state.</p>
<p><strong>“</strong>Under existing Texas laws, the Secretary of State has the authority to conduct a full and comprehensive forensic audit of any election and has already begun the process in Texas’ two largest Democrat counties and two largest Republican counties—Dallas, Harris, Tarrant, and Collin—for the 2020 election. We anticipate the Legislature will provide funds for this purpose,” the Office said in a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.sos.state.tx.us/about/newsreleases/2021/092321.shtml" target="_blank">statement</a>.</p>
<p>Though Trump won Texas last year by 5.5 percentage points, the former president wrote a letter to Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Thursday requesting a statewide audit to “answer big questions” about the 2020 election.</p>
<p>“Despite my big win in Texas, I hear Texans want an election audit! You know your fellow Texans have big questions about the November 2020 Election,” Trump said in a <a href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/breaking-trump-issues-damning-letter-to-greg-abbott-calling-out-texas-governor-for-ignoring-election-integrity-fight/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">statement</a>.</p>

<p>Naturally, Texas Democrats melted down over the development.</p>
<p>Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo called the audit a “scam” and a “dangerous assault” on democracy.</p>
<p>“This does not deserve to be treated as a serious matter or serious audit,” Hidalgo said. “It is an irresponsible political trick. It is a sham. It is a cavalier and dangerous assault on voters and democracy.”</p>

<p>Likewise, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins accused Abbott of appeasing his “puppeteer” Trump.</p>
<p>“This is a weak Governor openly and shamelessly taking his orders from a disgraced former President. Governor Abbott is wasting taxpayer funds to trample on Texans’ freedom to vote, all in order to appease his puppeteer,” Jenkins <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/judge-slams-gov-abbott-shamelessly-taking-his-orders-from-trump-on-texas-election-audits/ar-AAOOtE4?ocid=uxbndlbing" target="_blank">told</a> the <em>Texas</em> <em>Tribune</em>.</p>
<p>Failed senate candidate Beto O’Rourke called the election audit an “extreme rightward lurch” done at Trump’s bidding.</p>
<p>“Looks like the extreme rightward lurch in Texas has entered a new phase.  Abbott and the GOP now openly allow a disgraced, twice-impeached president to write Texas policy,” Beto tweeted.</p>

<p>Biden won Dallas County with 65% of the vote and Harris County with 56%, according to the official results.</p>
<p>Biden also apparently flipped Tarrant County, winning 49.3% to Trump’s 49.1%. Trump won Collin County with over 51% of the vote.</p>
<p>Texas’ audit announcement came a day before the Arizona Senate released the election-changing results of its months-long audit of the 2020 election which found <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.infowars.com/posts/decertify-arizona-audit-finds-trump-won-state-by-large-margin/" target="_blank">tens of thousands of duplicate ballots</a> in addition to thousands of other discrepancies with ballot envelopes, signatures, voter rolls, and more.</p>

<h4><strong>What is Justin Trudeau’s Personal Involvement?</strong></h4>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">In August 2021, an <a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/8127486/canada-election-leadership-trudeau-poll/">Ipsos poll showed 36 per cent of Canadians</a> said Trudeau has a hidden agenda.  It is the first time, since 2004, a Liberal leader has been seen as the one with a hidden agenda.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Trudeau’s father, <a href="https://wiki2.org/en/Pierre_Trudeau">Pierre Trudeau</a>, was the Prime Minister of Canada from 1968 to 1979 and again from 1980–1984. Pierre is the last Prime Minister of Canada to win more than three terms. </p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify"><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Cohn">Roy Cohn</a>, extensively involved in sexual blackmail operations from the 1950s well into the 1980s, was closely associated with numerous celebrities, famous politicians and political operatives. Those invited to Cohn’s exclusive parties were said to be those who “had open accounts in Cohn’s ‘favour bank’.” In 1979 Trudeau’s mother, <a href="https://unlimitedhangout.com/2019/07/investigative-series/government-by-blackmail-jeffrey-epstein-trumps-mentor-and-the-dark-secrets-of-the-reagan-era/">Margaret Trudeau, attended Cohn’s birthday party</a> where she famously toppled his custom birthday cake.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Before taking office as a politician, Trudeau was a nightclub bouncer, a snowboard instructor, a white-water rafting instructor, a radio host and a secondary school <a href="https://educ.ubc.ca/person/justin-trudeau/">teacher of maths and French</a>.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">It is also significant and no coincidence that Trudeau, as an alumnus of The Forum for Young Global Leaders, was trained to be one of <a href="https://theexpose.uk/2021/09/23/covid-canada-a-model-of-planned-destruction-that-can-be-applied-to-most-now-ex-democracies-and-beyond-part-2/">Mr. Global’s puppets</a> and is now Prime Minister of Canada.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Trudeau was first elected leader of Canada’s Liberal Party in 2013.  <a href="https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/liberals-await-results-from-new-leadership-voting-system/article11183723/">Dominion Voting Systems ran the electronic voting system</a> for that party leadership election.  <a href="https://canadafreepress.com/article/unbelievable-george-soros-employee-owns-defective-switch-vote-biden-machine">Dominion and Smartmatic</a> are the voting systems which ran the disputed and, ongoing, legally contested USA2020 elections.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">Although electronic voting systems are used in some <a href="https://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?section=res&dir=rec/tech/ivote/comp&document=municip&lang=e">local and provincial elections</a>, according to Elections Canada they have not been used in Federal Elections.  But then again, voting machines have never been used in Zimbabwe’s elections either.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify"><strong>Trudeau has been involved in many scandals but has managed to survive them all.  A scandal in itself. Below are some notable ones.</strong></p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">In 2017, <a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/3930242/commentary-the-real-scandal-is-how-justin-trudeaus-four-ethics-violations-carry-no-punishment/">Trudeau was found guilty of violating four sections of the Conflict of Interest Act</a> governing public office holders, stemming from two 2016 vacations on <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2081533/Aga-Khan-sails-eco-storm-purchase-private-tropical-island-Bahamas.html">Bell’s Cay</a>, a private island in the Bahamas owned by the <a href="https://www.akdn.org/about-us/his-highness-aga-khan/biography-his-highness-aga-khan">Aga Khan</a> – Prince Shah Karim al-Husseini, the 49<sup>th</sup> Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims – a British business magnate who was <a href="https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/the-aga-khan-6-things-to-know-about-the-wealthy-spiritual-leader-1.2435214">named an honorary Canadian in 2010</a>. Previously the Aga Khan Foundation, a registered lobby, had <a href="https://wiki2.org/en/Aga_Khan_affair">received over $50 million of federal funding</a>. The Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (“AKFED”) is the sole for-profit agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (“AKDN”).  The AKFED has approximately <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aga_Khan_Fund_for_Economic_Development">150 companies in 15 countries, and employs over 30,000</a> people.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Apple is the largest company in the world by market capitalization yet, in 2018, the <a href="http://brianlilley.com/justin-trudeau-just-handed-tens-of-millions-of-your-tax-dollars-to-the-richest-company-on-earth/">Government of Canada financed an Apple – Rio Tinto – Alcoa start up business</a> to the tune of $60 million in addition to $60 million from the Government of Quebec.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">In February 2019, <a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/4951921/justin-trudeau-ethics-investigation-stephen-harper/">Trudeau faced his fifth ethics investigation</a> since taking office in 2015.  This one related to allegations that Trudeau’s office pressured former justice minister and attorney general, Jody Wilson-Raybould, to help SNC-Lavalin avoid criminal prosecution over corruption and fraud charges.  In August 2019, a federal ethics commissioner report concluded that Trudeau had violated conflict of interest rules by attempting to interfere in the corruption case against SNC-Lavalin.  Wilson-Raybould, stated in her memoir – <a href="https://www.harpercollins.ca/9781443465366/indian-in-the-cabinet/">“Indian” in the Cabinet: Speaking Truth to Power</a> – that Trudeau <a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/8191049/jody-wilson-raybould-new-book-trudeau/">wanted her to lie</a> to Canadians about how his team had handled the situation in the <a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/5764442/snc-lavalin-timeline-breakdown/">SNC-Lavalin affair</a>. </p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">At the beginning of 2020, the Trudeau government <a href="https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-trudeaus-gift-of-your-money-to-mastercard">gifted $50 million to MasterCard</a> to help them set up shop in Vancouver. This follows the <a href="https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-canadian-tire-takes-trudeaus-corporate-welfare-for-green-cars">$2.7 million corporate welfare for Canadian Tire’s</a> electric car chargers, the <a href="https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/liberals-under-fire-after-announcing-more-than-12m-in-funding-to-loblaw-1.4373026">$12 million Trudeau gave Loblaws</a> to help them buy fridges and <a href="https://nationalpost.com/pmn/news-pmn/canada-news-pmn/liberals-give-blackberry-40m-to-support-self-driving-car-development">$40 million to Blackberry</a> to help them develop software for the next generation vehicles.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">In mid-2020, through a no-bid selection process, WE Charity was awarded a <a href="https://wiki2.org/en/WE_Charity_scandal">contract to administer the $912 million Canada Student Summer Grant program</a>. Which became a <a href="https://wiki2.org/en/List_of_political_scandals_in_Canada">political scandal</a> after opposition parties complained that the Trudeau family had ties with WE Charity. The Ethics Commissioner investigation found members of Trudeau’s family and cabinet were <a href="https://www.canadaland.com/trudeau-family-paid-by-we-organization/">inappropriately paid a significant amount by the WE Charity</a> for their volunteer support.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">And last but not least is the scandal of the <a href="https://nationalpost.com/health/bio-warfare-experts-question-why-canada-was-sending-lethal-viruses-to-china">transfer of viruses to the Wuhan Institute</a> of Virology Laboratory in China:</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">Has Trudeau personally benefited from these arrangements? Trudeau disclosed in 2013 he had <a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/392961/justin-trudeau-reveals-details-of-his-1-2-million-inheritance/">inherited $1.2 million</a> from his father.  From 2013, when he became Leader of the Liberal Party, to 2021 Trudeau’s net worth increased – from <a href="https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/justin-trudeau-family-1.3281191">$1.2 million</a> to <a href="https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-politicians/presidents/justin-trudeau-net-worth/">$10 million</a> – by $8.5 million.  As Party Leader in 2014 he would have earned, <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/archive/ca/entry/justin-trudeau-net-worth_n_8374458">$224k</a> and as Prime Minister he has earned between £335k – $357 per annum for six years.  While we do not know how he increased his net worth by an average of $1.2 million per year, the increase could not have come from his Prime Minister’s salary especially <a href="https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-helipad-proposal-latest-example-of-trudeaus-lavish-tastes">one with such lavish tastes</a>.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Sam Cooper, in his book <em><a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57427971-wilful-blindness">Wilful Blindness</a></em>, may offer further insight into Trudeau’s rise and apparent success.  The book uncovers evidence that shows the primary actors in the so-called “Vancouver Model” money laundering have effectively made Canada’s west coast a headquarters for corporate and industrial espionage by the CCP. And these ruthless entrepreneurs have used Vancouver and Canada to export their criminal model to other countries around the world including Australia and New Zealand.</p>

<h4><strong>Why Isn’t the Canadian Corporate Media Exposing It?</strong></h4>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">Today, <a href="https://thecanadaguide.com/basics/news-and-media/">more than 80 per cent of Canadian media is owned by a cartel of just five</a> corporations: <a href="https://crtc.gc.ca/ownership/eng/cht143.pdf">Bell Media</a>, Rogers Media, Postmedia, Corus, and Torstar, each of which own dozens of different print publications and television networks under various subsidiaries and affiliates.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Bell Media’s <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BCE.TO/holders?p=BCE.TO">biggest shareholder</a> is Royal Bank of Canada. Rogers <a href="https://crtc.gc.ca/ownership/eng/cht027.pdf">Media’s biggest shareholder is, ultimately, The Bank of Nova Scotia</a>, other <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/RCI-B.TO/holders?p=RCI-B.TO">top shareholders</a> include Royal Bank of Canada and The Vanguard Group.  <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postmedia_Network">Postmedia largest shareholder</a> is a private company, Chatham Asset Management. Corus Entertainment’s <a href="https://crtc.gc.ca/ownership/eng/cht032c.pdf">largest shareholder is, ultimately, the Shaw Family Living Trust</a>. And, Torstar Corporation was <a href="https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/toronto-star-owner-torstar-to-be-sold-taken-private-in-52-million-deal-1.4956070">sold to NordStar Capital LP in 2020</a>.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Then there’s Canada’s taxpayer-funded, government-run CBC which is collaborating with the BBC.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">In mid-2019, the Trusted News Initiative (“TNI”) was launched. TNI is a BBC led organisation censoring experts who oppose the Agenda’s narrative. One of its <a href="https://keywiki.org/Trusted_News_Initiative">“partners” is CBC/Radio-Canada</a>.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Last year, the BBC, CBC/Radio-Canada, The New York Times and Microsoft collaborated on the Origin Project to combat “disinformation” using a multiparty stakeholder, cross-organisational collaboration focussed on news and information content. </p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify"><strong>A part fiction, part factual article was published earlier this year by <em>Bloomberg,</em> ‘The Vaccine is Not a Competition’. The fictional part is about modelling the world of corporations and sums up where this could all be heading: totalitarian one world governance by a few in control of global corporations.</strong> <strong>The article reads like a warning of what is to-come according to Mr. Global’s plan:</strong></p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Who owns Bloomberg? Bloomberg is <a href="https://www.inputmag.com/culture/michael-bloomberg-who-owns-a-monopoly-bravely-takes-pro-tech-monopoly-stance">(88%) owned by “The Monopoly Man” Michael Bloomberg</a>.  Bloomberg makes the Bloomberg Terminal, a hardware and software technology suite which holds a massive monopoly in the financial industry.  This leads us back to the influence of financial institutions.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Mr. Global’s hidden monopoly is like a spider’s web and – with up to half of global offshore wealth being hidden in British offshore jurisdictions; and, The City of London and Britain’s offshore jurisdictions being the largest global players in the world of international finance – The City of London is a very big spider in that web. This may help explain the BBC’s role in a web of “collaboration” to combat what they deem to be “misinformation or disinformation.”</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">Who are the rich and powerful behind the City of London? </p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">“[The City] is to all intents and purposes, impossible for an outsider to understand, or penetrate. The opacity and complexity are not accidental … It’s difficult to stress just how opaque, how closed off, this system is,” wrote <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2016/feb/19/city-of-london-martin-parr-photographs-unseen-city">Martin Parr in 2016</a>.</p>
<p class="has-text-align-justify">E.C. Knuth, <a href="https://archive.org/details/TheEmpireOftheCity/mode/2up"><em>The Empire of “The City”</em></a> (1945, p5), wrote: ”The colossal political and financial organisation centered in this area [of London], known as “The City,” operates as a super-government of the world; and no incident occurs in any part of the world without its participation in some form,” and the <a href="https://www.modernhistoryproject.org/mhp?Article=FinalWarning&C=1.4"><em>Modern History Project</em></a> surmises that The Rothschilds operate out of “The City.”</p>

<p>Arizona’s spurious <a href="https://www.vox.com/22417310/arizona-audit-ballots-cyber-ninjas-uv-lights-qanon-conspiracy-theory-vote-suppression-fraud">election “audit”</a> concluded on Friday, <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/elections/2021/09/23/arizona-audit-draft-report-confirms-biden-beat-trump-2020/5835521001/">confirming</a> yet again that President Joe Biden won Maricopa County and the state of Arizona — but not putting an end to former President Donald Trump’s false claims of election fraud, which are now fueling <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/09/23/1039451858/republican-led-election-reviews-take-shape-in-pennsylvania-and-wisconsin">similar efforts</a> to relitigate the 2020 presidential election in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Texas.</p>
<p>The results of the “audit” — a haphazard GOP review of ballots in Arizona’s Maricopa County, with no legal force behind it — found the vote totals virtually unchanged from the actual election results, which were <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/11/30/arizona-secretary-state-certify-election-results-monday/6444577002/">certified</a> by Arizona officials in November of last year.</p>
<p>That outcome isn’t a surprise: There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, which US elections officials said last year was “<a href="https://www.vox.com/2020/11/13/21563825/2020-elections-most-secure-dhs-cisa-krebs">the most secure in American history</a>.” <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/09/24/trump-backed-audits-that-keep-debunking-trump-ranked/">Every recount requested by Trump and his supporters</a> has upheld the results of the 2020 election.</p>
<p>While the ballot review didn’t turn up Trump’s nonexistent election fraud, the process <em>has</em> caused a legion of problems for Arizona elections officials, who are currently facing <a href="https://twitter.com/nickmartin/status/1441589373921759239?s=20">death threats</a> and will now have to <a href="https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2021/07/14/arizona-audit-maricopa-county-spend-2-8-m-replace-voting-machines/7965882002/">spend millions</a> to replace voting machines in Maricopa County.</p>
<p>It also hasn’t quieted some of the most aggressive proponents of voter fraud conspiracies in Arizona, including state Republican Party chair Kelli Ward, who is now <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/arizona-gop-chair-calls-new-audit-after-biden-confirmed-winner-again-1632669">calling for</a> a “full signature audit” in Maricopa County, and Trump himself, who used a <a href="https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1441787931107237888?s=20">Saturday interview</a> with right-wing outlet One America News to push debunked claims of election fraud.</p>
<p>And, perhaps most worryingly, Arizona’s attempt at a recount has provided a clear roadmap for pro-Trump officials around the country — specifically, in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin — to pursue their own “audits” and sow further distrust in American elections.</p>
<p>On the surface, the Arizona audit’s findings this week approximated Maricopa County’s actual, certified 2020 election results. The vote totals in the final report only differed by a <a href="https://twitter.com/willsommer/status/1441233874340646919?s=20">few hundred votes</a> out of about 2.1 million, with Biden actually picking up votes.</p>
<p>In the <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/09/24/1040327483/the-controversial-election-review-in-arizona-confirms-bidens-win?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Sentences%209.24.21&utm_term=Sentences">final report</a> released Friday, however, Cyber Ninjas never explicitly say that Biden won, and the report also <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/09/24/arizona-election-review-did-exactly-what-it-was-intended-do/">continues to baselessly raise the possibility of election fraud</a>.</p>
<p>That, combined with the process behind the audit — partisan, slipshod, and conspiratorial — makes for a deeply concerning precedent, particularly as other states take up similar efforts.</p>
<p>From the start, the recount was a partisan enterprise, supported by Arizona’s Republican Senate majority. The company hired to conduct the audit — Cyber Ninjas, a Florida-based security firm — had <a href="https://www.brennancenter.org/sites/default/files/2021-07/Partisan%20Election%20Review%20Efforts%20Across%20the%20United%20States%20in%202021%20-%2007.08.21.pdf">no experience</a> conducting an election audit, and its CEO, Doug Logan, openly promoted pro-Trump election conspiracies on Twitter before deleting his account in January, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/25/us/Election-audit-Arizona-Republicans.html">according to the New York Times</a>.</p>
<p>Cyber Ninjas also hired a group called Wake TSI to complete the hand count of Maricopa County ballots, adding to the chaos of the process. According to a report by the <a href="https://www.brennancenter.org/sites/default/files/2021-07/Partisan%20Election%20Review%20Efforts%20Across%20the%20United%20States%20in%202021%20-%2007.08.21.pdf">Brennan Center for Justice</a>, Wake TSI has ties to Trump’s “Stop the Steal” movement and had previously been contracted by pro-Trump group Defending the Republic to review the results of the election in one Pennsylvania county.</p>
<p>Cyber Ninja’s methods were also <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-arizona-recount/2021/04/29/bcd8d832-a798-11eb-bca5-048b2759a489_story.html">wildly out of line</a> with normal audit procedures, which prioritize the security of ballots and voters’ personal information, and the group performed its review without the transparency typical for such processes, insisting to reporters and other observers that their procedures were “trade secrets.”</p>
<p><a href="https://www.vox.com/22417310/arizona-audit-ballots-cyber-ninjas-uv-lights-qanon-conspiracy-theory-vote-suppression-fraud">As Vox’s Ian Millhiser reported in May</a>, Cyber Ninjas also pursued a long list of nonsense audit methods, including examining ballots under ultraviolet light and considering their “thickness or feel.”</p>
<p>Specifically, <a href="https://www.vox.com/22417310/arizona-audit-ballots-cyber-ninjas-uv-lights-qanon-conspiracy-theory-vote-suppression-fraud">according to Millhiser</a>:</p>

<p>On Friday, after the conclusion of the audit, <a href="https://twitter.com/maricopacounty/status/1441228178001850371">a tweet from Maricopa County officials</a> summed up the Cyber Ninjas effort.</p>
<p>“Cyber Ninjas confirms the county’s canvass of the 2020 General Election was accurate and the candidates certified as the winners did, in fact, win,” the official Maricopa County Twitter account <a href="https://twitter.com/maricopacounty/status/1441228178001850371">noted</a>. “Unfortunately, the report is also littered with errors & faulty conclusions about how Maricopa County conducted the 2020 General Election.”</p>

<p>Although the Arizona audit didn’t <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/09/24/trump-backed-audits-that-keep-debunking-trump-ranked/">produce the result Trump</a> wanted — an impossible about-face from the certified results that would give him further pretense to call into question the entire 2020 election — the effort is already serving as a model for Republicans looking to promulgate election fraud conspiracies.</p>
<p>Specifically, as of this week, Republican legislators in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin have all embarked on a mission to implement recounts or investigations of their own, though the election is long over and certified.</p>
<p>On Thursday, the <a href="https://www.sos.state.tx.us/about/newsreleases/2021/092321.shtml">Texas secretary of state’s office</a> released a statement that it would perform a review of the election results in four counties — Dallas, Harris, Tarrant, and Collin — adding that they expect the Texas legislature to pay for the process, but failing to disclose any further details, or a reason why the audit is necessary. <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/arizona-gops-election-audit-confirms-biden-win-in-draft-report-11632467822?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium">According to the Wall Street Journal</a>, Trump called on Gov. Greg Abbott to conduct an audit earlier on Thursday, despite the fact that Trump won the state by a sizable margin in 2020.</p>
<p>In <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/09/23/1039451858/republican-led-election-reviews-take-shape-in-pennsylvania-and-wisconsin">Pennsylvania</a>, meanwhile, Republican legislators in the Senate’s Intergovernmental Operations Committee voted <a href="https://www.witf.org/2021/09/15/senate-panel-orders-state-election-officials-to-hand-over-troves-of-voter-records/">earlier this month</a> to subpoena voters’ personal information — including addresses, driver’s license numbers, and partial social security numbers — in preparation for a new review of the state’s 2020 election results.</p>
<p>Previous election audits, judicial determinations, and both Republican and Democratic election officials have already concluded that Biden won Pennsylvania, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/09/23/1039451858/republican-led-election-reviews-take-shape-in-pennsylvania-and-wisconsin">according to NPR.</a></p>
<p>Lastly, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/09/24/trump-backed-audits-that-keep-debunking-trump-ranked/">in Wisconsin</a>, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-business-texas-arizona-elections-6a1538db5d3fa52e00567d5f016ef971">two separate election reviews</a> — one by the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau, and one by a <a href="https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-wisconsin-courts-voting-presidential-elections-cffb3e0ac958ae0a8565454b5e4af584">pro-Trump former state Supreme Court justice</a> who has espoused false election conspiracies — are also underway.</p>
<p>Previously, the Trump campaign <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/trump-falls-short-wisconsin-recount-he-paid-3-million-n1249289">paid about $3 million</a> for a review of the votes in Wisconsin’s Milwaukee and Dane counties, fraudulently alleging that “15-20% of absentee ballots in Milwaukee County were tainted” by poll workers. That recount, which was completed in November 2020, found no evidence of Trump’s claims and confirmed Biden’s victory in the state.</p>
<p>In addition to these new audits, it’s possible that pro-Trump recount efforts in Arizona aren’t over yet either: On Friday, Trump-backed Arizona secretary of state candidate <a href="https://www.vox.com/2021/9/19/22682438/trump-justice-for-j6-rally-far-right-elections">Mark Finchem</a> tweeted out a call to <a href="https://twitter.com/RealMarkFinchem/status/1441419094675189765?s=20">conduct a recount</a> in Arizona’s Pima County.</p>
<p>On the surface, the Arizona audit didn’t work out for Trump or the Arizona GOP — that is, it didn’t find the election fraud they’ve long alleged exists, contrary to all evidence. On another level, however, as the Washington Post’s Philip Bump <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/09/24/arizona-election-review-did-exactly-what-it-was-intended-do/">pointed out Friday</a>, Trump and company got exactly what they wanted.</p>
<p>“The Cyber Ninjas appear to have done exactly what they were hired to do,” <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/09/24/arizona-election-review-did-exactly-what-it-was-intended-do/">Bump wrote</a> ahead of the release of the final report. “They were not hired to recount ballots that had already been counted. They were, instead, hired to slather some semblance of authority on top of conspiracy theories. To anchor irrational assumptions about fraud to something resembling rationality.”</p>
<p>The problems with that are obvious — despite the complete lack of evidence, claims of voter fraud have taken root with a <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/poll-two-thirds-of-republicans-still-think-the-2020-election-was-rigged-165934695.html">broad portion</a> of the Republican electorate, election workers are facing a barrage of <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/terrorized-us-election-workers-get-little-help-law-enforcement-2021-09-08/">death threats and harassment</a>, and a <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/15/politics/cnn-poll-most-americans-democracy-under-attack/index.html">CNN/SSRS poll</a> conducted earlier this month found that a majority of Americans now feel that American democracy is “under attack.”</p>
<p>The prospect of more recounts to come in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Texas also means that that problem isn’t likely to abate any time soon — and as the immediate calls for more “audits” by pro-Trump officials in Arizona underscore, the goal isn’t so much to confirm the accuracy of the 2020 election as to confirm a preconceived, false belief that the election was stolen from Trump.</p>
<p>“Though many may experience a short burst of schadenfreude at the Republicans’ failure here, the result isn’t really funny,” <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/09/the-arizona-recounts-happy-ending-does-not-justify-its-existence/620196/?utm_source=feed">the Atlantic’s David A. Graham wrote on Friday</a>. “All is not well that ends well. Faith in elections is essential to a functioning democracy, and Trump and his allies have sought to undercut the belief that the election system is accurate.”</p>

<p>Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday that international recognition of the Taliban was not currently under consideration.</p>
<p>Lavrov was speaking on the sidelines of the annual gathering of world leaders in New York for the UN General Assembly. His comments come after the Taliban nominated a UN envoy, setting up a showdown over Afghanistan's seat at the world body.</p>
<p>"The question of international recognition of the Taliban at the present juncture is not on the table," Lavrov told a news conference.</p>
<p>Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi on Monday nominated the Islamist group's Doha-based spokesman Suhail Shaheen as Afghanistan's U.N. ambassador. The Taliban seized power in Afghanistan last month.</p>
<p>Ghulam Isaczai, the current U.N. ambassador who represents the Afghan government ousted by the Taliban, has also asked to renew his U.N. accreditation.</p>
<p>Russia is a member of a nine-member U.N credentials committee - along with China and the United States - which will deal with the competing claims on Afghanistan's U.N. seat later this year.</p>
<p>U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that the Taliban's desire for international recognition is the only leverage other countries have to press for inclusive government and respect for rights, particularly for women, in Afghanistan.</p>
<p>When the Taliban last ruled between 1996 and 2001 the ambassador of the Afghan government they toppled remained the UN representative after the credentials committee deferred its decision on rival claims to the seat.</p>
