<p><strong>Shocking revelations posted to social media this week revealed that Pfizer engineered a contract, which governments had to sign when purchasing the experimental Covid-19 vaccine. Excerpts appear to show that there is no way for the pharmaceutical company to lose, even if the vaccine is dangerous, causes injury, or is ineffective.</strong></p>

<p>The details of the <a data-id="http://ti-health.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Albania-Pfizer.pdf" data-type="URL" href="http://ti-health.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Albania-Pfizer.pdf" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">contract</a> were posted by a Twitter user named Ehden, who begins a <a href="https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1419653002818990085.html" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">thread</a> of tweets (many of which have since been deleted) by stating: “Pfizer has been extremely aggressive in trying to protect the details of their international COVID19 vaccine agreements.</p>
<p>“These agreements are confidential, but luckily one country did not protect the contract document well enough, so I managed to get a hold of a copy. As you are about to see, there is a good reason why Pfizer was fighting to hide the details of these contracts.”</p>
<p><strong>Here are some of the key points taken from the contract:</strong></p>
<p>The contract appears to state that the agreement covers the manufacturing of vaccines for Covid-19 and its mutations, but also for “any device, technology, or product used in the administration of or to enhance the use or effect of, such vaccine.”</p>

<p>The reason why governments around the world were suppressing the use of alternative treatments for Covid-19 – including Ivermectin – is because the contract does not allow them to pull out even if a more effective treatment than Pfizer is discovered.</p>

<p>Pfizer cannot be held liable for any delivery delays or missed deliveries: “Pfizer shall have no liability for any failure to deliver doses in accordance with any estimated delivery dates… nor shall any such failure give Purchaser any right to cancel orders for any quantities of Product.”</p>

<p>To emphasise this, the contract states: “Purchaser hereby waives all rights and remedies that it may have at Law, in equity or otherwise, arising from or relating to:…any failure by Pfizer to deliver the Contracted Doses in accordance with the Delivery Schedule.”</p>

<p>Additionally, once governments have purchased vaccines, they cannot be returned: “Pfizer will not, in any circumstances, accept any returns of Product (or any dose)…no Product returns may take place under any circumstances.”</p>

<p>There is also the cost of the vaccines. Reportedly, the US government, and likely Israel as Ehden speculates, were <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/news/3049901/how-much-does-pfizer-covid-vaccine-cost/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">charged $19.50 per dose of the jab whilst other countries were only charged $12.</a></p>

<p>To add to this, Pfizer assured that it is guaranteed its money and that governments cannot withhold or try to credit funds for the vaccines.</p>

<p>It seems as though that it doesn’t matter to Pfizer whether the vaccines are effective in the short or long term, either. The contract states that the “Purchaser acknowledges…the long-term effects and efficacy of the Vaccine are not currently known and that there may be adverse effects of the Vaccine that are not currently known.”</p>

<p>Through the contract, Pfizer has guaranteed that all sales are basically final, as is the exception of the contract. Ehden writes: “There are clauses about termination possibility, but in fact, as you saw so far, the buyer has almost nothing that can be considered a material breach, while Pfizer can easily do so if they don’t get their money or if they deem so.”</p>

<p>And, of course, no one can hold Pfizer liable for anything related to its Covid-19 vaccine, as the contract states: “Purchaser must provide Pfizer protection from liability for claims and all Losses, must implement it via statutory or regulatory requirements, and the sufficiency of such efforts shall be in Pfizer’s sole discretion.”</p>
<p><strong>Whilst to many of us a contract like this isn’t really surprising, it just emphasises that these pharmaceutical companies are only interested in money and power. It shows that the Covid vaccine has never been about protecting the population, but that it’s just a worldwide experiment that guarantees Pfizer and big pharma will get rich whilst those who receive a dose suffer adverse reactions.</strong></p>

<p>As countless offices prepare to reopen this fall, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about the specifics, namely whether or not employees will need to be vaccinated. Tech companies are now some of the first employers to make their position clear: If workers want to return to the office, they will need to get a Covid-19 vaccine.</p>
<p>Google and Facebook — two of the largest tech companies in the world — announced on Wednesday that they will be requiring that all employees returning to their US offices get vaccinated. Google was the first to announce this at the beginning of the day, and Facebook followed suit a few hours later. The news comes as the US government <a href="https://www.vox.com/2021/7/6/22554198/political-polarization-vaccine-covid-19-coronavirus">struggles to get its adult population vaccinated</a> (currently fewer than half of eligible Americans have received one vaccine dose), and cases across the nation are rising as the more <a href="https://www.vox.com/22547537/delta-coronavirus-variant-covid-19-vaccines-masks-lockdown">contagious delta variant</a> spreads. So far, President Biden has not placed a federal mandate on vaccines, which leaves it largely up to employers to exert pressure if they want their employees to avoid getting Covid-19.</p>
<p>Tech firms were <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/06/facebook-tells-bay-area-employees-to-stay-home-amid-coronavirus-outbreak.html">some of the first workplaces</a> to require employees to work from home at the beginning of the pandemic. Now, these same companies are some of the first major employers in the private sector to mandate that employees be vaccinated before they return. And other companies outside the tech industry are likely to follow.</p>
<p>“I hope these steps will give everyone greater peace of mind as offices reopen,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai <a href="https://blog.google/inside-google/company-announcements/vaccines-and-our-return-to-office-plans/">wrote in a blog</a> post announcing the requirements. Google is also pushing back the date when it will mandate employees to return to the office from September to October at the soonest, citing concerns about the delta variant. Google also is letting some 20 percent of its employees permanently work from home, and 60 percent work a few days a week in person.</p>
<p>Lori Goler, VP of People at Facebook, <a href="https://twitter.com/Dani_Lever/status/1420486108769619970">released a statement</a> saying that any of the company’s employees working in a US office will need to be vaccinated. Both Google and Facebook said they will have a process for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical or other reasons. “We continue to work with experts to ensure our return-to-office plans prioritize everyone’s health and safety,” wrote Goler in a partial statement.</p>
<p>Under federal law, it’s been considered legal for employers to require employees to be vaccinated. The courts <a href="https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/judge-tosses-houston-hospital-workers-lawsuit-over-vaccine-requirement-2021-06-13/">have recently tossed out cases</a> by <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/judge-upholds-covid-19-vaccine-mandate-victory-indiana-university-2021-07-19/">people trying to sue</a> hospitals and universities that have required vaccines.</p>
<p>Google and Facebook are also both headquartered in Silicon Valley, a geographic area with <a href="https://www.ktvu.com/news/san-jose-other-bay-area-regions-rank-top-for-covid-19-vaccinations-in-the-u-s">one of the highest vaccination rates in the country</a>. But these companies are global firms that employ workers across the political and vaccine-hesitancy spectrum.</p>
<p>At Google, while most employees chiming in on company listservs have so far seemed supportive of the vaccine mandate, some employees have complained, questioning the effectiveness of the vaccines and whether Google has a right to require one, according to a source at the company.</p>
<p>Given how politicized vaccines have become in the US, where <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/17/us/politics/coronavirus-vaccines-republicans.html">many conservative leaders have been slow to support vaccination</a> and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/11/business/media/vaccines-fox-news-hosts.html">stoked vaccine skepticism</a>, it’s likely there will be more resistance.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, these major tech companies are once again setting the tone for how corporate America adapts its working conditions to the realities of the ongoing pandemic.</p>

<p>One of China's most prominent "Wolf Warrior" diplomats was on Wednesday announced as his nation's new ambassador to the United States.</p>
<p>The hawkish Qin Gang, a close confidante of President Xi Jinping, has arrived in Washington at a time of high tensions between China and the United States, and is expected to deliver a combative message.</p>
<p>He gained prominence during his two stints as foreign ministry spokesman, issuing barbed responses to foreign reporters and pioneering an aggressive style of defending China in the press and on social media dubbed "Wolf Warrior" diplomacy.</p>
<p>"As two big countries different in history, culture, social system and development stage, China and the United States are entering a new round of mutual exploration, understanding and adaptation, trying to find a way to get along with each other," Qin told reporters on his arrival in the American capital.</p>
<p>The new envoy vowed to bring US-China ties "back on track," according to a transcript released by the Chinese embassy.</p>
<p>The relationship has rapidly deteriorated in recent years, with the two powers clashing on a wide range of issues including trade, human rights, cybersecurity and the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic.</p>
<p>And while President Joe Biden has lowered the tone since taking office, he has largely maintained his predecessor Donald Trump's hawkish stance on China, describing it as the pre-eminent challenge to the United States.</p>
<p>Qin, who accompanied Xi on numerous overseas trips as the foreign ministry's protocol chief, is among the diplomats who have vigorously defended China in the face of increasing criticism on the world stage.</p>
<p>The 55-year-old is considered more hawkish than his predecessor in Washington, Cui Tiankai. He is a fluent English speaker, having spent several years at the Chinese embassy in London.</p>
<p>Beijing-based independent analyst Hua Po described Qin as "one of the backbone members" of the Wolf Warrior movement.</p>
<p>Qin in February defended that style of diplomacy as a necessary response to "groundless slander" and "crazy attacks against China".</p>
<p>Chinese foreign ministry spokespeople and officials abroad have adopted a strident and indignant tone to loudly defend the Communist-led country and even promote conspiracy theories or openly insult foreign counterparts.</p>
<p>But President Xi recently urged top political leaders to help cultivate a "reliable, admirable and respectable" international image to improve China's soft power.</p>

<p>A group of US lawmakers has reintroduced legislation in the House of Representatives to eliminate a programme which allows foreign students to stay in the country for work after the completion of their studies under certain conditions.</p>
<p>Congressman Paul A Gosar along with Congressman Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs, and Matt Gaetz introduced the Fairness for High-Skilled Americans Act, a legislation that would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act on the Optional Practice Training (OPT).</p>
<p>"What country creates a programme, but not a law, that rewards its businesses to fire citizen workers and replace them with foreign labour to pay the foreign labour less? The United States. The programme is called OPT and it reflects a complete abandonment of our own workers," Paul A Gosar said.</p>
<p>He first introduced the Fairness for High-Skilled Americans Act in the 116th Congress and has twice signed amicus briefs in support of American workers in a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security to eliminate the OPT.</p>
<p>The OPT is a guest worker programme administered by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).</p>
<p>Paul A Gosar alleges that the OPT circumvents the H-1B cap by allowing over 100,000 aliens admitted as foreign students to work for up to three years in the US after graduation.</p>
<p>These foreign workers are exempt from payroll taxes, making them at least 10-15 per cent cheaper than a comparable American worker, he argued.</p>
<p>"Landing that first job out of college will only become more difficult for young Americans as our universities formalise the role they play in crowding out opportunities once reserved for American graduates. For this reason, the OPT must be eliminated," stated Kevin Lynn, Founder of US Techworkers.</p>
<p>The OPT openly undercuts American workers, particularly higher-skilled workers and recent college graduates, by giving employers an actual tax incentive to hire compliant, inexpensive foreign labour under the guise of "student training," said Rosemary Jenks, Director of Government Relations, NumbersUSA. </p>

<p>The COVID-19 Delta outbreak in Australia's biggest city Sydney grew by 239 cases on Thursday, the highest daily rise since the pandemic started, forcing authorities to increase police powers to shut down businesses not complying with lockdown measures.</p>
<p>More than two million residents in eight Sydney hotspots will now be forced to wear masks outdoors and must stay within 5 km (3 miles) of their homes.</p>
<p>Sydney is in its fifth week of an extended nine-week lockdown, which is scheduled to end August 28, but the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant continues to grow.</p>
<p>"It only takes a handful of people, or a small percentage, to do the wrong thing, to cause a setback for all of us. We can't afford setbacks," state Premier Gladys Berejiklian told reporters in Sydney.</p>
<p>Most new locally acquired cases were detected in Sydney, with at least 66 having spent time in the community while infectious. Authorities have said Sydney's lockdown will not ease until cases in the community are near zero.</p>
<p>New South Wales reported a total of 177 cases a day earlier.</p>
<p>Sydney, home to a fifth of Australia's 25 million population, is grappling with its worst outbreak for this year forcing authorities on Wednesday to extend lockdown restrictions for another month.</p>
<p>More than 2,800 cases have been detected so far, with 182 people hospitalised. Fifty-four are in intensive care, 22 of whom require ventilation. Two new deaths were recorded, taking the total number of deaths in the latest outbreak to 13.</p>
<p>With only about 17% of people above 16 years fully vaccinated in New South Wales state, infections have steadily risen despite Greater Sydney being in lockdown since June 26.</p>
<p>Greater Sydney's extended lockdown of around 6 million people is expected to take a heavy toll on Australia's A$2 trillion ($1.50 trillion) economy with many businesses forced to close, raising prospects of the country recording its second recession in as many years.</p>
<p>Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said he expected the national economy to shrink in the September quarter but hoped Australia could avoid a recession if New South Wales suppress the outbreak soon.</p>
<p>"With respect to the December quarter, that does depend to a large extent how successful New South Wales, our largest state economy, is in getting on top of this virus," Frydenberg told the Australian Broadcasting Corp.</p>
