Danish Authorities Shut Down Access to Bitchute Over “Dangerous” COVID-19 Information

Authorities in Denmark have shut down much of the country’s access to video platform Bitchute in the name of preventing the spread of “dangerous information” about COVID.
Denmark’s National Police Cyber Crime Center (NC3) petitioned for a court order to block the site and ISPs followed suit by blocking access to users.
“The National Police Cyber Crime Center (NC3) has blocked the homepage that your browser has tried to access contact as there is reason to assume that from the website commits a violation of criminal law, which has a background in or connection with the covid-19 epidemic in Denmark,” states a message users see when trying to access Bitchute.
It then advises the owner of the website that they will have to contact the authorities in order to try to get the website back online.
“The block appears to be site-wide meaning that Danish citizens aren’t just being prevented from viewing alleged COVID-19 misinformation on BitChute – they’re being blocked from viewing any BitChute videos, regardless of the topic,” writes <a href="https://reclaimthenet.org/bitchute-blocked-denmark/">Tom Parker</a>.

Bitchute is routinely targeted by governments because it provides a platform for controversial content that isn’t permitted on YouTube.
Some ISPs in Australia previously tried to block the site, while Twitter blocked people from posting Bitchute links on its platform last year.
Authorities in the UK and the EU are also <a href="https://support.bitchute.com/learn-more/incitement-to-hatred">trying to get the site shut down</a>, claiming it engages in “incitement to hatred.”
Advocates of social media censorship routinely claim that free speech isn’t under assault because people can simply ‘build their own platforms’.
Yet when an entity like Bitchute does just that, they are targeted for elimination by the state.
This is straight up Communist Chinese-style totalitarianism, but what makes it worse is its timing.
As we’ve learned in recent weeks, by censoring “misinformation” about the Wuhan lab leak theory which could turn out to have been true all along, social media networks may have been complicit in facilitating one of the biggest cover-ups in modern history.
So for Danish authorities to target Bitchute for the exact same reason is yet another chilling example of the danger of allowing corporate and government entities to define the boundaries of acceptable speech and literally dictate reality.

The <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/coronavirus-fines-laws-letters-court-prosecution-b1856653.html">London Independent reports</a> that cases are being processed under a system known as the ‘Single Justice Procedure’ where one magistrate decides the outcome of a case based solely on evidence supplied by police.
This means that anyone accused of breaching lockdown restrictions could be found guilty and notified by letter without even getting a court hearing.
The watchdog groups have penned a letter to the justice secretary outlining how “likely thousands” of people have been subject to miscarriages of justice, and calling for the practice to stop.

The letter states that “Hundreds of people have been wrongly charged and prosecuted under the Health Protection Regulations and the Coronavirus Act 2020 and we are concerned that many more unlawful charges brought via the Single Justice Procedure remain unchallenged.”
It continues, “These charges and prosecutions are being brought without sufficient oversight, without any meaningful review process, and are resulting in guilty pleas and convictions for offences people have not committed, in a process they may also not be aware of. The current situation is unjust and the current process is unfit for purpose.”
The Independent notes that so far a third of prosecutions in England and Wales under coronavirus laws have been proven to to be wrongful, according to a review that is still ongoing.
Ministry of Justice figures reveal that 4,400 defendants were prosecuted and 3,500 convicted under such laws in 2020 alone. It is thought that close to half of those cases fell under the Single Justice Procedure.
Most cases are believed to relate to fines that have been issued by police and not paid. However, there is currently no way of appealing the fines other than to not pay them.
Human rights lawyer Kirsty Brimelow QC told the newspaper that the “opaque” Single Justice Procedure has since its introduction in 2015 been “not easily accessible to the public”.
“It is a failing of the justice system that this has been allowed to continue when the consistent misuse and misunderstanding of the Covid laws is well known,” Brimelow urged, adding “People likely are paying financial penalties that they cannot afford in order to avoid prosecution of offences which do not exist.”
The Ministry of Justice has claimed that the Single Justice Procedure is only used for “low level, non-imprisonable crimes” and that people are able to “request an open hearing”.

Confusion: Facebook Rep. Denies Reports of Trump Reinstatement

A Facebook official denied reports Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://www.facebook.com/DonaldTrump">Facebook</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/realdonaldtrump/">Instagram</a> accounts were restored.
On Wednesday, Twitter was flooded with media reports claiming the 45th president’s social media accounts had been reinstated.

The rumor was denied, however, by Facebook Policy Communications Director Andy Stone, who informed Vox reporter Aaron Rupar the news was inaccurate and that Trump remained “indefinitely suspended.”
