President Joe Biden has finally referred to the record influx of illegal immigrants at the US-Mexico border as a “crisis” and acknowledged that the situation has undermined his plans to admit more refugees from around the world.
“The problem was that the refugee part was working on the crisis that ended up on the border with young people. We couldn’t do two things at once,” Biden told reporters on Saturday after playing a round of golf in Wilmington, Delaware. “And now we’re going to increase the numbers.”

Biden was assailed by immigration activists on Friday, when he issued an emergency declaration tweaking his administration’s refugee program without fulfilling a pledge to raise the historically low cap on refugee admissions set by his predecessor, Donald Trump. He left the cap for the federal government’s current fiscal year, ending on September 30, at 15,000 – about one-fifth of the level of admissions allowed before Trump took office in 2017.
Biden had pledged to boost the cap to 62,500 in the current fiscal year and to 125,000 in fiscal 2022. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) called Biden’s failure to raise the number on Friday “utterly unacceptable” and contrary to the promises that caused people to vote for him. Former labor secretary Robert Reich called the move “a shameful broken promise.”
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki issued a statement later on Friday, following the backlash, saying that Biden would announce a higher refugee cap by May 15. Biden has been consulting with advisers on how many refugees the US can accommodate through the end of September, she said, and given the “decimated” program that he inherited from Trump and the current border “burdens” on the Office of Refugee Settlement, “his initial goal of 62,500 seems unlikely.”

Biden has suffered politically on the immigration issue, with just 29% of Americans in a Quinnipiac <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://poll.qu.edu/images/polling/us/us04142021_uscd43.pdf" target="_blank">poll</a> saying they approve of his handling of the border. Illegal border crossings and apprehensions of unaccompanied minors have surged to record highs after Biden’s policies encouraged families to send their children to the US with smugglers.

Prior to Saturday, Psaki and other administration officials had steadfastly refused to admit there is a “crisis” on the southern border. It’s not clear whether Biden has relented on use of that word or merely had a slip of the tongue in a candid moment with reporters, but his phrasing wasn’t lost on Republicans.

China must “fully liberalize” its birth-control policy to increase its labor force in the upcoming decades and compete with such countries as the US economically, a paper published by the People’s Bank of China says.
Beijing should pay close attention to the fact that the country’s birth rate is declining, while its population is aging fast, the researchers argued. The <a href="http://www.pbc.gov.cn/redianzhuanti/118742/4122386/4122692/4214189/4215394/2021032618473569432.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">research</a>, which was published this week by China’s central bank as part of its working paper series, suggests that the country’s main economic rival, the US, is undergoing “favorable changes” in working population rates, largely through mass immigration.
Based on statistics and forecasts by the United Nations – which might even overestimate China’s reproduction rate, according to the researchers – the report suggests that in the next three decades, China’s population will decrease by some 32 million people. At the same time, US may add 50 million people to its population by 2050.
Furthermore, the researchers warned that China’s labor force is set to shrink, while the US will see an expansion. And unlike China, the US will have the benefit of “skilled immigration.”
While China had 70.6% of its population in the labor force as of 2019, compared with the US rate of 65.2%, that advantage is predicted to drop to 3.2 percentage points from 5.4 percentage points by 2035, the paper said. By 2050, the US will swing to a 1.3 percentage-point advantage over China in the labor-force rate, the authors predicted, adding:

China’s population is projected to reach its peak in 2030, with 1.46 billion people, but will drop to 1.4 billion in 2050, the researchers said, adding that the proportion of elderly people will continue to grow. They also warned that another economic rival, India, will soon have more working hands, as it’s predicted to surpass China and become the world’s most populous country around 2027.
The authors argued that China’s government must quickly change its family-planning policies: “Our country must clearly recognize the changes in the situation… firmly seize the precious time window, change concepts, comprehensively implement policies, and respond effectively.” Beijing “must fully liberalize childbirth” allowing “three births and above,” the paper said.
In fact, women should be encouraged to have more babies, the researchers added, calling on both the government and society to create a “good reproductive environment,” improving childbirth, healthcare and school systems.
Earlier this year, China’s Ministry of Public Security released a <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-society-population-idUSKBN2A907A" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">report</a> that said the number of newborns in the country plummeted by 15% in 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic and increasing economic uncertainty.
The world’s most populous nation has had restrictive child policies for decades. In 2013, the strict one-child policy was relaxed, with the state now allowing families to have a maximum of two children.

“These body parts, purchased by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to “humanize” mice and test biologic drugs in scientific experiments, came from babies up to 24-weeks-old gestation, just weeks from being born,” reported Edie Heipel. It has previously been <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/15/us/planned-parenthood-lawsuit-secret-videos.html">reported</a> that abortion groups <a href="https://www.centerformedicalprogress.org/cmp/investigative-footage/">harvested aborted babies</a> for research. However, this new report has sparked outrage among Americans upon the revelation that the US government is the entity responsible for the trafficking of the aborted babies.
“Recent emails uncovered by Judicial Watch between FDA employees and the California-based Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR) prove the agency spent tens of thousands of dollars buying aborted babies for unethical scientific experiments between 2012 and 2018. In 2018, the Trump administration <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/trump-administration-cancels-fda-fetal-tissue-contract-n913051" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">terminated</a> the contract, halting government fetal tissue research due to concerns the contracts were unlawful. Judicial Watch’s new FOIA Request adds <a href="https://www.judicialwatch.org/documents/jw-v-hhs-humanized-mice-fda-prod-3-00876/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">575 pages of records</a>to its existing 2019 <a href="https://www.judicialwatch.org/documents/jw-v-hhs-advanced-biosciences-complaint-00876/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">lawsuit</a> against the agency,” wrote Heipel.
Email correspondence between the FDA and ABR highlight discussions about the aborted baby harvesting. “I am enclosing my signed application for tissues. I have received a copy of the contract that was completed and you should be prepaid for $12K of tissue purchases,” said Dr. Kristina Howard in the publicly released <a href="https://www.judicialwatch.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Humanized-Mice-prod-3-00876-pgs-501-505.pdf">email</a>. “We will be using fetal liver and thymus to isolate CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and to implant fetal liver and thymus tissues into severely immune compromised mice. (NSG, NRG, etc.). Additionally, the mice are transplanted with HSC isolated from the same donor tissue, resulting in a bone marrow/liver/thymus (BL T) humanized mouse. This procedure permits the full reconstitution of a human immune system in a mouse and will permit us to test biologic drug products in these mice.” The report indicates that most purchases are for intact thymuses and livers shipped “Fresh; on wet ice.”

<h4>New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, has paid out at least $62.5K to a male staffer who accused her of an alleged sexual assault, by grabbing his crotch and laughing at him.</h4>
Campaign finance documents <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/04/14/new-mexico-governor-shells-out-62500-for-alleged-crotch-grab/">filed on Monday</a> revealed that Governor Lujan Grisham’s campaign paid the money in various installments to a law firm on behalf of James Hallinan, a staffer who had previously worked for Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, during her campaign to take the New Mexico governorship back in 2018. The payments have been provided in five monthly installments of $12,500, from November last year to March, listed as “legal expenses.” It is not clear if there are any more payments to come.
Around a year after he left Lujan Grisham’s campaign, Hallinan claimed on Twitter that Lujan Grisham had sexually assaulted him. He alleged that the then-congresswoman had poured a bottle of water on his crotch, and then grabbed his genitals in front of other staffers who were watching the situation unfold, and then proceeded to laugh at him.
“A governor… is not above the law for her sexual and physical abuse of employees including (me!!!) I’ll talk more when I return to the country,” Hallinan tweeted. He also alleged that Dominic Gabello, the then campaign manager for Lujan Grisham, who now work as a senior advisor in the New Mexico Governor’s office, had tried to talk him out of reporting the incident when it happened at the time.
Jared Leopold, the campaign spokesman for Lujan Grisham, <a href="https://www.abqjournal.com/2379452/gov-s-campaign-settles-with-ex-spokesman.html">said in a written statement to the Albuquerque Journal</a>that the payments were part of a settlement, which resolved “numerous dubious and disputed potential claims made by Mr. Hallinan arising from his employment in 2018 with the campaign organization and his subsequent search for employment.”
All parties accused “strenuously deny that there is any merit or truth to Mr. Hallinan’s claims, including his claims about difficulty finding or keeping work after the campaign,” Leopold continued in the statement. “They reached a settlement in order to avoid the continuing distraction and significant expense of possible litigation and allow them to concentrate on working for the people of New Mexico during this pandemic,” he concluded.

Jalalabad:
Eight members of the same family were gunned down in an attack on a mosque in eastern Afghanistan, officials said Sunday.
The shooting happened on Saturday night in the city of Jalalabad in Nangarhar province, and was believed to be over a land dispute, the province's governor Zaiulhaq Amarkhil said.
Five brothers and three of their male cousins were killed.
"The incident is under investigation but initial information shows a land dispute has caused the incident," Amarkhil told AFP.
Fareed Khan, a spokesman for Nangarhar police, confirmed the attack.
Afghanistan, like the rest of the Muslim world, is observing the holy month of Ramadan, when men gather every night to offer special prayers after fasting for the day.
Revenge killings are common in Afghanistan, where families seek justice by carrying out violent acts of vengeance based on an ancient code of honour.
So-called blood feuds can last for decades, passing down through generations in a cycle of violence.
