Earlier this April 2021, I wrote a piece about the coming Arctic wars amid the geopolitical struggle between Russia and NATO for control over what could become another major shipping lane. In this piece, I noted that this project, in which many countries are participating, has been driven largely by Russia, as this is both economic as well as of military relevance to her, and given her miserable situation geopolitically, it may represent a potentially final attempt to salvage her global relevance as a major player.
I pointed out that many criticize the concept of “global warming”, and such criticism is warranted- ‘global warming’ as a purely natural phenomena has its roots in malthusianism, and the earth has always warmed and cooled in cycles. But what I pointed out explicitly is that one is not talking about just natural causes, or simple manmade ‘greenhouse gases’, but the intentional melting of the Arctic ice for this project.
This is not some nonsense about sea animals, environmentalism, or accidental consequences. This is talking about the equivalent of governments making use of modern technology to intentionally get rid of the ice as they see it is in their long-term economic and political benefit to do so. After all, how else does one build a shipping lane in the Arctic on ice? Use sled dogs? Of course not- seafare travel is efficient and profitable, but ice cannot be traversed so easily, and so the first step is to crack and melt the ice.
What I pointed out is that the cracking of said ice and its melting is, naturally, going to have many consequences. It is not an accident, for example, that Siberia is having record temperatures, or that there are massive fires there now, or that the stability of entire cities constructed on ice such as Norilsk are at risk of collapse. Yet when it comes to fighting, politics, and profit, long-term vision is often the first thing that goes out the window no matter who the person in charge is.
Now according the UK Guardian, there is talk that at least one-third of all global ice shelves will collapse amid the warming temperature.

More than a third of the vast floating platforms of ice surrounding Antarctica could be at risk of collapsing and releasing “unimaginable amounts” of water into the sea if global temperatures reach 4C above pre-industrial levels, UK scientists say.
Researchers from the University of Reading said that limiting the temperature rise to 2C could halve the area at risk and avoid a drastic rise in sea levels.
The findings, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, suggest that 4C warming could leave 34% of the area of all the Antarctic ice shelves – amounting to about half a million square kilometres – at the risk of collapse.

But this is not just speculation. Even the Office of the Director of Intelligence, whose report Ted did a video on recently, pointed out this danger (page 32).

Temperatures are warming at three times the global average in the Arctic largely as a result of feedback loops from melting ice and snow cover. This has caused mass loss from ice sheets and glaciers as well as reductions in sea ice extent.

Climate change and environmental degradation will contribute to and reflect a more contested geopolitical environment. Countries and other actors are likely to compete over food, mineral, water, and energy sources made more accessible, more valuable, or scarcer. Receding Arctic sea ice is opening new sea routes and opportunities to access valuable resources there, including natural gas and oil deposits, rare earth metals, and fish stocks. Russia is building more icebreakers to patrol its northern coastline and project power as an Arctic leader, and even non-coastal states like China and India are seeking to take advantage of shorter trade routes and resources. In addition, China is trying to boost its international image by claiming to be a leader on climate diplomacy despite its growing emissions—already the highest in the world. The story is the same as old, but just a different theater. However, what will be an interesting trend to watch are the unexpected consequences that may come from this, such as sea level rise and the impact it could have on major urban power centers.

In a story out of Newsweek, the Russian ministry of Defense released a series of documents from its archives detailing National Socialist atrocities committed at Stalingrad.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence has published online a cache of declassified documents detailing atrocities carried out by Nazi soldiers and officers during World War Two.
The release on Friday on the defense ministry’s website comes two days before the International Day of the liberation of Nazi concentration camps on April 11—the day in 1945 when prisoners in Buchenwald, Germany were freed.
The material from the ministry’s central archives includes photographs and letters. Among the revelations are details of a prisoner of war camp near Stalingrad—present-day Volgograd, the scene of the battle between the Soviet Union against Germany and its allies which ended in February 1943.
One document describes the Alekseevka camp in the Gorodishchensky district of the Stalingrad region, surrounded by barbed wire, where 1,500 members of the Red Army had been “brutally tortured,” according to excerpts published by RIA Novosti and other Russian news agencies.
Among the violence detailed are accounts of how prisoners were pushed to the brink of exhaustion by the Nazis and descriptions of burnt and mutilated corpses.
Other documents describe the conditions faced by Soviet prisoners of war at a camp in the city of Demyansk, now part of the Novgorod region, which held around 13,000 people by the end of 1941 and was so crowded that many had to sleep while standing.
By May 1942, only 700 prisoners were still alive.
Other material includes witness accounts of Nazis executing more than two dozen families from the village of Tenitsa in the Chernihiv region in February 1943. There are also accounts of atrocities carried out in concentration camps such as Auschwitz.
The defense ministry, which has been declassifying WW2 material over the last few months, said the latest material’s publication was “aimed at preserving and protecting historical truth” as well as “countering falsifications of history.”
Underneath the banner of its website which has the message “they cannot be forgotten” the ministry says the documents testify to “the indescribable atrocities, bullying and mass destruction of the occupied peoples by the fascist invaders.” (<a href="https://www.newsweek.com/russia-nazism-world-war-two-red-army-atrocities-1582286">source</a>)

It is an interesting report, and not doubt released because of the current situation in Ukraine, where Russia and NATO may find themselves in conflict again. As I have noted, this is largely related, it seems, to the historical struggle for the oil regions of the Volga basin, and was the reason for the Battle of Stalingrad, where the Second World War was decided. It is not an accident this happened.
Years ago, I knew one man well who personally served in the Soviet army, but not at Stalingrad. According to this man, who was originally of Hungarian extraction, said that in the Soviet military, all soldiers had guns, but ammo was the problem, as soldiers were often undersupplied, and many times, had none at all. He remembered that sometimes the soldiers would laugh morbidly at this fact, because none believed they would survive. His experience was that while many were forced, a great number did it because they believed, with good intentions, in fighting for their homeland. The feelings about Stalin were mixed, but they became worse with time because many felt betrayed and sent to their deaths. Military leadership was often abusive, and commanding officers would threaten to shoot and even act on their threats towards soldiers who expressed even slight displeasure.
However, to pacify the men, what was given freely to them and in unlimited quantities- far more than bullets -was alcohol. He said that many times, they were paid in alcohol because they were told the government did not have enough money. Drunkenness was a huge problem, and it affected the fighting of their soldiers. He recalled one story of a large, burly Russian soldier with blonde hair who one night before going out became particularly drunk and cried like a small child about wanting to go home. He said he did not see him again, but asked what happened and was told that he was killed in battle.
This individual was captured by the Reich, and eventually forced into a work camp, where he was able to survive until the war ended, at which time he immediately defected to the US, fearing that he would be put to death or sent to a camp as a ‘traitor’ if he returned to the USSR, since such was an all too common practice for Soviet POWs in German camps.
I mention this story because the situation, no matter what the side is, is absolutely evil. Between a choice of two evils there is no ‘good’ side, and both are dangerously close to repeating the history of the 20th century again, but with more terrifying weapons.
Due to the opaque nature of Russian defense and military documents, how much of these documents are true or false is yet to be determined, but it is likely that most of what is being told is indeed true, for they are a historical reminder of what happened to Russia during those years, and what she fears a repeat of, and is trying to remind the world of again before the same repeats.

There is a lot of talk right now about race, and far from the vision of Martin King, where men would be judged on the content of their character and not the color of their skin, far too many of said people’s descendants are for all practical purpose asking for a reversal. Indeed, the revival of the term “POC” as a form or respect is ironic, considering that “colored” was used by many as an insult not even three-quarters of a century ago.
Now according the New York Sun, there is discussion among some about a potential “race” category for IRS taxation review, that in the name of “justice”, some people would be taxed more on the basis of race.

“Prediction: By tax year 2024, Americans will be asked to indicate their race on the Form 1040,” tweeted Scott Greenberg, a former analyst at the Tax Foundation who now writes about tax policy in a Substack newsletter called “No Withholding.”
Greenberg was reacting to a tax-policy reporter for the Wall Street Journal, Richard Rubin, who had flagged the news that the Biden administration had put the Treasury department’s top tax-policy official on an “equitable data working group.”
According to the Biden executive order, “Many Federal datasets are not disaggregated by race, ethnicity, gender, disability, income, veteran status, or other key demographic variables. This lack of data has cascading effects and impedes efforts to measure and advance equity. A first step to promoting equity in Government action is to gather the data necessary to inform that effort.”
The Census provides plenty of race-based income and poverty data, but the IRS has not done so. That surprises even some savvy observers. Kai Ryssdal, of the public radio show “Marketplace,” devoted a recent segment to an interview with Dorothy Brown. A law professor at Emory, Ms. Brown is the author of “The Whiteness of Wealth: How the Tax System Impoverishes Black Americans — And How We Can Fix It.”
Ms. Brown said, “The IRS doesn’t collect or publish statistics by race.”
Mr. Ryssdal stopped her: “That to me, when I read it, was mind boggling. I need you to say it again.”
Ms. Brown repeated the point: “The IRS does not collect or publish statistics by race.”
As the Biden executive order and Ms. Brown’s book both make clear, though, collecting and reporting the information is merely, as the executive order puts it, “a first step.”
What’s the next step?
Ms. Brown’s book, just out from Crown, has a suggestion: “A reparations credit is the final piece of closing the black-white wealth gap. The reasoning is simple. The overtly racist policies of the past aren’t truly behind us, and not just because the taxpayers held back and victimized by them are still part of our society and members of our families. Our racist tax policies disadvantage black Americans who were born after Jim Crow was legally invalidated, too. Today, black taxpayers are still paying too much …The victims need to be compensated.”
Ms. Brown’s book goes on, “My first choice for race-based reform would be a refundable tax credit … Under this plan, Congress would assign a single fixed credit to all black taxpayers.”
She concedes, “this, or any tax reform designed to compensate black Americans for years of higher taxes, is unlikely to be found constitutional under our current Supreme Court.” (<a href="https://www.nysun.com/new-york/could-tax-code-be-used-to-make-us-reparations/91467/">source</a>)

It is an interesting concern, especially if one views the developments today.
For example, in California, <a href="https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2021/04/09/la-county-supervisor-seeks-to-return-bruces-beach-property-which-was-seized-from-black-family/">Los Angeles County is considering the return of a property</a> based on charges of ‘discrimination’ over a century ago to the descendants of those from whom it was purchased (NOT taken). Some have raised concerns if, perhaps if this concept was to be taken to private property, it could result in eminent domain laws applied to strip people of their properties and give them others in the name of ‘racial justice’.
There are black people in positions of or <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/video-i-hate-white-people-black-law-student-leader-says/">coming into positions of a professional nature</a> openly expressing <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/help-me-hate-white-people-entry-bestselling-prayer-book-stokes-controversy-1582043">hatred of “white people.”</a> Is this not open racism?
These are just a few example, but the reality is that while racism exists on all sides, that among the white bloc seems to be over-reported and even exaggerated many times now, while that among the black and other blocs is ignored or attributed to other causes to render criticism irrelevant.
Racism is racism no matter who does it. It is wrong because of the concept, not social convention. However, it has become now politically fashionable to condemn certain forms of racism while promoting others, and given that such seems to overlap with political strategies of tension, it is possible that the current situation will be allowed to continue until public chaos becomes even worse. Remember that BLM and other well-funded groups were allowed to burn down American cities with practically no opposition while the Capitol protests, which were clearly permitted and the Capitol Police veritably allowed protesters to enter, have been viciously prosecuted. It is not an accident.
If some are willing to go this far, what is not to say that even more old-world style tactics, such as land seizure and outright violence, would not be potentially entertained?

Dubai:
Iran blames its regional arch-foe Israel for Sunday's incident at the Natanz nuclear site and will take its revenge, state TV quoted Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as saying on Monday.
Iranian authorities described the incident a day earlier as an act of "nuclear terrorism" and said Tehran reserves the right to take action against the perpetrators.
"The Zionists want to take revenge because of our progress in the way to lift sanctions ... they have publicly said that they will not allow this. But we will take our revenge from the Zionists," Zarif was quoted as saying.
Multiple Israeli media outlets have quoted unnamed intelligence sources as saying that the country's Mossad spy service carried out a successful sabotage operation at the Natanz site, potentially setting back enrichment work there by months. Israel has not formally commented on the incident.
The Natanz uranium-enrichment site, much of which is underground, is one of several Iranian facilities monitored by inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the U.N. nuclear watchdog.
