Saudi Arabia and the US have a very long alliance, going back to the formation of the Arab-American Oil Company in the early 20th century. The US has provided for the meteoric rise of the House of Saud, the development of the nation, and the life of luxury enjoyed by the family as well as their protection in exchange for cheap, easily extractable oil. However, things may be changing as according to a report, the US may be moving more troops out of Saudi Arabia.

The White House has reportedly ordered some US military forces and equipment out of Saudi Arabia in a move that may underscore the Biden administration’s desire to focus its international resources away from the Middle East.
Financial daily The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that the US has “removed at least three Patriot anti-missile batteries from the Gulf region, including one from Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, that had been put in place in recent years to help protect American forces.”
“Some capabilities, including an aircraft carrier and surveillance systems, are being diverted from the Middle East to answer military needs elsewhere around the globe,” the newspaper continued, adding that “other reductions are under consideration.”
In February, the Pentagon released a statement reaffirming its “strategic defense partnership” with Riyadh in the face of increased attacks by Yemeni rebels.
But since US President Joe Biden’s inauguration, tensions have flared between Washinton and the Islamic Kingdom, specifically over the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
In early March, Biden ordered the declassification of an intelligence report that found that Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) ordered the 2018 killing of Khashoggi, a US-based contributor to The Washington Post who was lured into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
The report found that seven of the 15 members of the hit squad that flew to Istanbul came from the Rapid Intelligence Force, which it said “exists to defend the crown prince” and “answers only to him.”
The Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the force — meaning any US transactions with it will be a crime — but the administration stopped short of personally targeting the powerful crown prince.
While the administration failed to impose a punishment on MBS for the gruesome killing, citing Saudi Arabia’s invaluable contribution to regional security interests, US lawmakers remain outraged over the prince’s actions, including many Democrats. While one associates the kebob with Middle Eastern cuisine, and rightly so, one might argue it is technically Central Asian in origin, shared by Japhetic and mixed-Japhetic cultures that resided in that part of the world and some of which in repeating waves went north and west to Europe or south and west to the Middle East. In that sense, one might say the kebob or in Turkish, “kebap” is truly a “Turkish” food in its origins. As Ted, Walid, and I have noted many times, Saudi Arabia’s survival depends on outside protection, and if it were to be removed, the “goose” of Saudi Arabia would be rapidly devoured by the Turkish “wolf” in her neo-Ottoman expansionism.
It will be interesting to see if this report is just one incident, or perhaps foretells a larger trend of US troop removal from the Middle East, with willing knowledge, of allowing Turkey to ‘fill the vacuum’ left by the Americans. If the US truly begins a significant military withdrawal from Saudi Arabia, that is bad news for the House of Saud, as Turkey, given the first chance, will gladly make a kebob out of Saudi Arabia, as she has the military power, manpower, skill, and national motivation to do such.

Remains Of Christian Missionary Captured By Islamic Terrorists Found In Mali

The remains of a Christian missionary who was captured by Islamic terrorists in 2016 and disappeared in Mali have been found according to a report from the Christian Post.

The body of Beatrice Stockli, an evangelical missionary from Switzerland who was held captive by Islamist extremists in Mali since January 2016, has been found and identified, Mali’s foreign ministry has said.
Stockli’s body was given to Malian authorities by the International Committee of the Red Cross, and a DNA test confirmed that it’s of the Christian woman, who had been kidnapped from Mali’s Timbuktu city by the jihadist group Jama’at Nusrat Al-Islam wa’l-Muslimin, The Washington Times reported.
“Sadly, we now have definitive evidence that the woman who was held hostage is dead,” Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis said in a statement by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
“But I am also relieved that we can return the woman’s remains to her family and I would like to pass on my deepest condolences to them. I also wish to thank the Malian authorities for their assistance in helping to identify the body,” Cassis added.
Last October, the Swiss department announced that Stockli had reportedly been killed. The information came from French hostage Sophie Pétronin, a 75-year-old French charity worker who was abducted by jihadists in December 2016 and released in 2020, BBC reported at the time.
Pétronin, who converted to Islam during her captivity, reported that the missionary was reportedly shot dead about a month earlier for refusing to take part in another move with her kidnappers in the Sahara. Pétronin said they moved around regularly to keep Malian and French soldiers from tracking them down. She said Stockli was dragged outdoors one night during her protest and she then heard a shot go off.
Stockli started working as a missionary in Timbuktu city for a Swiss church in 2000 but soon branched off on her own, World Watch Monitor said earlier. A local church leader in Mali said she led an austere life in Abaradjou area, where she sold flowers and gave out Christian material. She was known to be sociable, especially with women and children, but the area was also popular with jihadist groups.
In 2012, she was kidnapped by Islamists but released 10 days later after mediation led by neighboring Burkina Faso. She left Mali after her mother and brother pleaded with her but soon returned even though the Swiss government had warned her against it. US Capitol Attacker Noah Green Reportedly Made Posts About Satan, Gov’t ‘Mind Control’

US Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee said Friday’s Capitol car-ramming attack does not appear to be terrorism-related, and that a probe into the motives of the attacker is under way.
The suspect who rammed his car into <a href="https://sputniknews.com/us/202104021082524048-police-suspect-in-us-capitol-attack-entered-barricade-barrier-exited-car-with-knife-in-hand-/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a US Capitol checkpoint</a> on Friday, killing one police officer and wounding another, has been identified as 25-year-old Noah Green from Indiana. Here’s a brief insight into what’s known so far about the suspect.
Green reportedly graduated from Christopher Newport University (CNU) in Newport News, Virginia, in 2019, receiving a bachelor’s degree in finance.
Jim Hanchett, CNU chief communications officer, was cited by the Daily Mail as saying that “Mr Green played on the Christopher Newport University football team in the fall 2017 and fall 2018 seasons”.
<h2>Nation of Islam Fan?</h2>
Referring to Green’s now-removed Facebook and Instagram accounts, US media outlets reported that the suspect was a supporter of Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam (NOI), a Black religious movement that actually has little to do with traditional teachings of Islam.
In one of his posts, Green did not think twice before referring to Farrakhan as Jesus Christ.

“My faith is one of the only things that has been able to carry me through these times and my faith is centered on the belief of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan as Jesus, the Messiah, the final divine reminder in our midst. I consider him my spiritual father”, the suspect allegedly claimed.

Green also shared confessions on social media about how “tough” his life has been in recent years, including losing his job over apparent mental issues.

“I have been tried with some of the biggest, unimaginable tests in my life. I am currently now unemployed, after I left my job, partly due to afflictions”, the Capitol attacker reportedly posted.

In a separate Facebook post, Green claimed that “Satan’s rule over us is up”.
The suspect also ostensibly thanked Farrakhan for saving him “after the terrible afflictions” he “suffered presumably by the CIA and FBI, government agencies of the United States of America”.
“I have suffered multiple home break ins, food poisonings, assaults, unauthorised operations in the hospital, mind control”, the 25-year-old reportedly wrote in one of his Instagram posts, insisting that his troubles started in 2019 when Green’s former teammate and roommate drugged him with Xanax, an anti-anxiety medication.
Just two hours before what Fox News reported was a “lone wolf” attack, the suspect allegedly posted a video on his Instagram account with a caption that said: “The US government is the #1 enemy of Black people!”
<h2>Suspect’s Brother Reportedly Claims Noah Was ‘Violently Ill’ Before Capitol Attack</h2>
The Washington Post (WaPo) cited the suspect’s brother Brendan as saying that the night before the incident, the 25-year-old was “violently ill”.
Brendan did not elaborate about what had exactly happened with his brother that night, but added that he earlier suffered from hallucinations, heart palpitations, headaches, and suicidal thoughts.
The pair shared an apartment in Virginia – Green having moved in two weeks ago, with his family deeply worried about his mental state.

Brendan told WaPo that on Thursday night, Noah texted him, “I’m sorry but I’m just going to go and live and be homeless. Thank you for everything that you’ve done. I looked up to you when I was a kid. You inspired me a lot”.

<h2>Biden ‘Heartbroken’ Over Capitol Attack</h2>
President Joe Biden has, meanwhile, said that he was “heartbroken to learn of the violent attack at a security checkpoint on the US Capitol grounds”, adding that he ordered the White House flag to be lowered to half-mast.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, for his part, said in a statement that “there is still much to be determined” about <a href="https://sputniknews.com/us/202104021082523745-situation-outside-us-capitol-after-car-rams-into-police-officers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Friday attack</a> and offered the department’s support to the DC mayor and Capitol Police.
Earlier, acting US Capitol Police (USPC) Chief Yogananda Pittman said at a press briefing that two individuals died in Friday’s attack on the US Capitol, including the suspect and a police officer who was injured in the incident.

“The suspect rammed his car into two of our officers and then hit the north barricade barrier. At such time the suspect exited the vehicle with a knife in hand. Our officers then engaged that suspect. He did not respond to verbal commands. The suspect did start lunging toward US Capitol Police officers at which time US Capitol Police officers fired upon the suspect. At this time the suspect has been pronounced deceased”, the USPC chief said.

She added that one of the two police officers rammed by the vehicle died from his injuries. The Capitol Police later stated that the officer who died was 18-year veteran William Evans.

Hundreds of demonstrators joined marches and rallies across Britain on Saturday as part of a "national weekend of action" against a proposed new law that would give police extra powers to curb protests.
The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill would toughen measures officers can take to disperse demonstrations, such as imposing time and noise limits, which campaigners and activists fear would be used to curb dissent.
Since the bill was brought before parliament last month, there have been sporadic protests, notably in Bristol, southwest England, where demonstrations turned violent with officers and a police station bombarded with bricks and glass bottles and police vehicles set on fire.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson criticised what he described as "disgraceful attacks" on officers, but protesters have accused police of using heavy-handed tactics.
On Saturday, climate change group Extinction Rebellion (XR) and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement joined other activists for "kill the bill" rallies in London and other towns and cities, including Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and Brighton.
"The government are trying to curtail protests - especially BLM and XR - that is what this bill is all about. We want the clauses in this bill about protests quashed," said Mark Duncan, one of a crowd of more than 500 marching through central London, banging drums and chanting.
Days of protests by Extinction Rebellion paralysed parts of London in early 2019, action which fuelled calls from some politicians for the police to be given the tougher powers to prevent excessive disruption.
Demonstrations had not been permitted while a coronavirus lockdown was in place, but restrictions were eased this week, meaning organised rallies can go ahead providing they are "COVID secure".
In London, police warned, "enforcement action will be taken, if needed, in the interests of public health".
Some senior officers have said the "kill the bill" tag was deliberately provocative as "the bill" is a nickname in Britain for the police.

A year into the pandemic, Covid-19’s <a href="https://www.vox.com/coronavirus-covid19/2020/10/2/21496884/us-covid-19-deaths-by-race-black-white-americans">unequal death toll</a> in the US has taken the lives of Black Americans at twice the rate of white Americans. That disparity — and the broader <a href="https://www.vox.com/22285868/black-white-life-expectancy-gap-covid-19-health">racial mortality gap</a> that has existed for as long as we’ve had recorded health data — is the result of systemic racism in housing, education, and other social determinants of health.
But there’s a growing body of evidence that the experience of racial prejudice itself plays a significant role in those health disparities, too. In 1992, public health scientist Arline Geronimus coined the term “<a href="https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/full/10.2105/AJPH.2004.060749">weathering</a>” to describe this phenomenon, where adverse social conditions cause a chronic release of stress hormones that contributes to shorter lifespans and earlier onset of disease.
