Major Protestant Leader Admits That Sex Abuse Is A Far Bigger Problem With Protestant Churches Than With The Catholic Church

According to Billy Graham's grandson, who runs a ministry dedicated to fighting sexual abuse in churches, he says that sexual abuse in Protestant congregations is a bigger problem and a bigger secret than among Catholics in a recent report:<blockquote>Boz Tchividjian, grandson of the Rev. Billy Graham and an activist who speaks out against sexual abuse in churches, has opened up about some of the horror stories victims have shared with him."My focus is on the church because that's where I grew up, that's where I've seen some of the horrors. That's where I've encountered survivors who, in tears, tell me that they can't pray to God because the man who abused them was praying when he abused them, or reading Scripture while he was raping them," Tchividjian told Vice.com in a recent interview.Tchividjian leads the Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment organization, which investigates sexual abuse in Christian circles.A common thread in much of his research is that many churches do not have policies to deal with accusations of abuse, and often times the abuser, and not the victim, gets protected.He pointed to data from insurance providers that shows that sexual abuse goes on in Protestant churches just as much, if not more so, as in Roman Catholic ones.A major problem, he said, is that too many pastors still don't want to talk about and ignore issues related to abuse."We have to educate our church leaders about this issue so we can try and eliminate victim blaming when disclosures are made. Telling the victim it was their fault because of how they were dressed or were acting, or forcing them to forgive the offender, just compounds the shame they are already going through," Tchividjian said.He said that males get abused as well, but often times they are silent because of shame."I've had male survivors tell me they didn't want anyone in the church to know because they thought that they would be labeled a future offender and everyone would keep their kids away, or they would be accused of being gay," he revealed.The GRACE founder noted that delving into the reality of sexual abuse sometimes presents very tough challenges for believers."When you grow up as an evangelical Christian you have this nice neat view of God and the world. And when you start doing this work, that all gets shattered. Because how do you answer when someone asks you, 'Where was God when my dad was coming into my room every night and molesting me? Was he watching? Why didn't he stop him?' Those are questions I don't have answers to. All I can do is grieve with them and maybe get a little angry," he stated."But studying who Jesus was while He lived on this Earth has given me a greater appreciation for who He was in relation to this issue. There was no greater defender of children than Jesus."Tchividjian told The Christian Post in an interview back in 2015 that churches must do better in their response to sex abuse."[Churches] should be the place where children and survivors feel most safe and most loved," Tchividjian told CP at the time."My prayer is that one day churches will be the place offenders feel the least safe knowing that the church is vigilantly watching over its children and won't hesitate to report suspected abuse to the God-ordained authorities. I think Jesus requires nothing less of us. Evil is defined by the nature of the act, not who commits the act.Likewise, nobody denies there is a problem with primarily the abuse of young men at the hands of homosexual priests, which as it has been shown constitute fully 80% of all abuse cases. There is a desperate need for people of good will to stand up to the evils in society and our churches. This is not out of vengeance, but for the good of the most innocent, since they will be the ones most likely to be affected.What makes this story such a relief is that finally major Protestant voices are admitting through their own media outlets that they have the same problems the Catholics do, and that as we have known for years, the problem is actually worse and that some people are making a public effort to confront the issue.When the Catholic sexual abuse scandal was first revealed by the Hartford Courant and Boston Globe in 2002, I remember the wave of anger, shock, and rage that many people exhibited, and rightly so, for what started then is part of a crisis that has continued to unfold worldwide over the last 15 years showing a pattern among enough members of the clergy that there was systematic and primarily homosexual abuse of minors. However, the sexual abuse crisis also brought to public attention something which only people who were deeply involved in Church affairs or who were deep in "rad-trad" (radical traditionalist, such as SSPX, SSPV, or different types of sedevacantist groups) would discuss existing, which was the presence of a "gay mafia" in the Vatican that was both complicit in the abuse and was covering up cases of abuse on behalf of fellow sodomite perpetrators. While there are still problems, if the sexual abuse crisis did anything was to fully open up the divisions of the Church to public scrutiny, and while this has been an embarassing period, it has also allowed people to clearly show, to use a term that homosexuals like to use, "true colors" to the world by exposing the word and deeds of church members for better or for worse. Indeed, it was the beginning of a process of separating the "wheat from the chaff" because people who did not care either left the Church or if they stayed in the ranks they have persisted in perpetuating their evil ideas in a public manner, while those who genuinely care have stayed and become more active, many times returning to traditional practices such as devotionals, attending mass in Latin, as well as attempting to live a more holy lifestyle. The Church as become smaller, but the divisions that were once hidden are now much clearer and easier to perceive, and its people care more than those of generations of the recent past.<a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/dsfghjkl.jpeg"><img alt="" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-113634" height="275" src="http://shoebat.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/dsfghjkl.jpeg" width="183" /></a>Cardinal Coccopalmerio, in whose apartment recently took place a gay sex orgy with various priests and bishops. It is critical that the homosexual mafia inside the Vatican and all their hideous deeds be exposed for the good of the faithful. While sexual abuse can be found in any Church, the fact that 80% of it in the Catholic Church is of a homosexual nature means that the Church does NOT have a sexual abuse problem- it has a homosexual problem because they are the ones overwhelmingly doing the abuse.The same cannot be said about the Protestant Churches, especially in the United States, and I focus specifically there because Protestant Christianity has come to its full fruition in the lands of the Reformation five centuries ago, as the majority of people are either secular or their "Christianity" is simply ethnonationalism with a Christian flavor solely for the purpose of evoking their conception of history for their followers. Protestantism is for all purposes dead in Europe, and it is dying the same death in America, but simply at a longer timeline. The mainline Protestant denominations are filled with elderly and like people in hospice care are waiting for death- the Episcopalians survive only because of an accumulation of wealth, and much can be said about the Presybtarians, Congregationalists, and Methodists. The Baptists, Pentecostals, and their sister variants in the "evangelical" Christian churches that number the American landscape like crumbs on a plate are the strongest, but even they have admitted that they are in decline too:<blockquote>There’s no denying the decline of America’s largest Protestant denomination any longer. The SBC lost almost 78,000 members in the past year, according to the Annual Church Profile (ACP) released ahead of its upcoming annual meeting. Southern Baptists have now lost a million members since their peak of 16.3 million in 2003.The denomination is down to its “lowest baptisms since 1946; lowest membership since 1990; lowest worship attendance since 1996,” <a class="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://twitter.com/nobtspres/status/872568951234076675">according</a> to historical analysis from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.“The true bad news is that when you put last year in the context of all previous years, it indicates the SBC is in the midst of a decline that shows no signs of either slowing down or turning around,” <a class="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.drchuckkelley.com/2017/06/08/sbc-state/">said</a> Chuck Kelly, the seminary’s president.The only measure where Southern Baptists are growing is their number of churches, adding 479 churches last year for a total of more than 47,000. But leaders are concerned that they have fewer people to fill those churches. Congregations reported an overall drop in Sunday service attendance (down 7%) and fewer new believers being added through baptism (down 5%).Denominational leaders blame the downward trajectory on their struggle for effective evangelism.“It's clear that evangelism and discipleship are waning,” Thom Rainer, president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources, an SBC affiliate which produces the ACP report, <a class="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.bpnews.net/49005/acp--churches-up-in-2016-baptisms-membership-decline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> BP. “I don't believe it is due to the lack of opportunities, though. Instead, there is a lack of engagement.”For years, evangelicals watched their fellow Protestants in mainline denominations undergo widespread and much-talked-about <a class="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2015/april/3-important-trends-in-church-in-next-ten-years.html">decline</a>, while hoping their more conservative theology would sustain them. Yet, as Ed Stetzer <a class="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.bpnews.net/47015/baptists-reflections-of-the-stats-guy">noted</a> a year ago, “Southern Baptists are shrinking faster than United Methodists.” (<a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2017/june/southern-baptist-convention-churches-baptisms-sbc-acp.html">source</a>)</blockquote>Christianity in America, regardless of the church or type, is strongest among foreign immigrants, which for the most part are the peoples of Central and South America since they constitute the single largest immigrant bloc still arriving to the USA today. However, it is a known fact that religious practice among them declines the further a family integrates into American society, and by the time the third or fourth generation is born, they are as American and indifferent towards religion as everybody else who has been here for the same period or longer. In this sense, they are in a similar situation with the Catholics.When one adds to the natural decline that Protestantism is facing with the sexual abuse that happens, this only becomes more serious. However, unlike in the case of the Catholic Church were there is a defined hierarchy that one can point to- say to use an example, "Fr. Murphy" molested a child and "Bishop O'Donnell" is not doing anything to stop it, we have to try to petition the Archbishop or Rome- through which a chain of accountability can be traced. This is very good an important because if there is a problem, even a systematic one, somebody can clearly identify the source and trace the steps to get it resolved or to expose to the public where a blockage has been erected to prevent the problem from being resolved.The same cannot be said about the Protestant Churches. Given that they are all smaller than the Catholic Church and believe that they can act as independent authorities on that of Christ outside of his apostles- in spite of the fact that Christ clearly passed His authority to His apostles and His authority comes from the succession of the Apostles- so it makes it far easier to hide illegal or immoral activity in one of these smaller congregations. Just as these small Churches will all call themselves "Christians" but often times share no common understanding of basic theology and will embrace heresies condemned since the days of antiquity such as the Antinominian heresy, which is pervasive in American Evangelicalism. The lack of authority leads to spiritual anarchy, and opens up a vacuum which not just heretics, but also people with evil intentions can move in and begin to cause chaos before moving onto the next church.It is well established that up to but no higher than 2% of Catholic clergy are involved in the sexual abuse of minprs with no higher than 4% involved in sexual misconduct in general, of which 80% of said misconduct involved homosexual activity. However, the numbers for Protestants, when released, tell a far more grim story, with a rate of at least 10% of abuse across all denominations. Jews are even worse, with possibly as high as 30% of rabbis being involved in sexual misconduct, mostly involving incest:<blockquote>According to a 2000 report to the Baptist General Convention in Texas, “The incidence of sexual abuse by clergy has reached ‘horrific proportions.’” It noted that in studies done in the 1980s, 12 percent of ministers had “engaged in sexual intercourse with members” and nearly 40 percent had “acknowledged sexually inappropriate behavior.” The report concluded that “The disturbing aspect of all research is that the rate of incidence for clergy exceeds the client-professional rate for physicians and psychologists.”[xix] Regarding pornography and sexual addiction, a national survey disclosed that about 20 percent of all ministers are involved in the behavior.[xx]In the spring of 2002, when the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church was receiving unprecedented attention, the Christian Science Monitor reported on the results of national surveys by Christian Ministry Resources. The conclusion: “Despite headlines focusing on the priest pedophile problem in the Roman Catholic Church, most American churches being hit with child sexual-abuse allegations are Protestant, and most of the alleged abusers are not clergy or staff, but church volunteers.Finally, in the authoritative work by Penn State professor Philip Jenkins, Pedophiles and Priests, it was determined that between .2 and 1.7 percent of priests are pedophiles. The figure among the Protestant clergy ranges between 2 and 3 percent.[xxii]...Rabbi Joel Meyers, executive vice president of the Conservative Rabbinical Assembly, reports that 30 percent of rabbis who changed positions in 2000 did so involuntarily, and that sexual abuse was a factor in many instances.[xxiv] The Awareness Center devotes an entire website to “Clergy Abuse: Rabbis, Cantors & Other Trusted Officials.” It is a detailed and frank look at the problem of sexual abuse by rabbis.[xxv]The problem of sexual abuse in the Jehovah’s Witnesses is evident among church elders but most of the abuse comes from congregation members. “The victims who have stepped forward are mostly girls and young women,” writes Laurie Goodstein in the New York Times, “and many accusations involve incest.” There is a victims support group available, “silentlambs,” that has collected more than 5,000 Witnesses contending that the church mishandled child sexual abuse.[xxvi] (<a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.catholicleague.org/sexual-abuse-in-social-context-clergy-and-other-professionals/">source</a>)</blockquote>But this is really nothing new for us. We've been on this trend, as Ted wrote in 2014 in an article from <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://prospect.org/article/next-christian-sex-abuse-scandal">Prospect</a>:<blockquote>For years, Protestants have assumed they were immune to the abuses perpetrated by celibate Catholic priests. But Tchividjian believes that Protestant churches, groups, and schools have been worse than Catholics in their response. Mission fields, he says, are “magnets” for would-be molesters; ministries and schools do not understand the dynamics of abuse; and “good ol’ boy” networks routinely cover up victims’ stories to protect their reputations. He fears it is only a matter of time before it all blows up in their faces and threatens the survival of powerful Protestant institutions.In the past couple of years, Tchividjian has begun to look prophetic. Reports and allegations of sex abuse, rape, and harassment—and a culture that has badly mishandled them—have become more and more frequent. In fall 2012, former members of Sovereign Grace Ministries, a “family” of about 80 conservative churches from various theological traditions, filed a class-action lawsuit against the ministry for failing to report allegations of sex abuse in the 1980s and 1990s—including abuse perpetrated by church leaders’ immediate family members—and discouraging victims and their families from going to law enforcement. (The lawsuit was dismissed last year because of expired statutes of limitations and jurisdictional questions, but an appeal and criminal investigations are under way.) This spring, an exposé in The New Republicrevealed that Patrick Henry, the college of choice for evangelical homeschoolers, has covered up alleged campus rape and sexual assault, thanks largely to its victim-blaming emphasis on women’s purity. Allegations of similar practices soon surfaced against other Christian colleges, including Pensacola Christian College in Florida and Cedarville University in Ohio. A documentary released in February, No Place to Call Home, recounts the systematic sexual abuse of children in the 1980s at Jesus People USA, an evangelical commune in Chicago. The empire of Bill Gothard, founder of the fundamentalist Institute in Basic Life Principles, crumbled earlier this year after bloggers revealed dozens of sexual-harassment and molestation claims against him.Common threads run through the stories: authoritarian settings where rule-following and obedience reign supreme; counseling techniques that emphasize victims’ own culpability; male leaders with few checks on their power; and, in the eyes of many Christians including Tchividjian, a perversion of the Bible to justify all three. “When you have this motley group of many denominations, this independent environment, and then this distortion of scripture, that’s an environment where abuse can flourish,” Tchividjian says. “But we’ve never been forced to deal with it on a Protestant-wide basis.”This will be a challenge. The Protestant world includes tens of thousands of denominations, plus thousands more nondenominational churches, ministries, mission boards, and subcultures. Unlike the Catholic Church, there is no Vatican, no shared leadership connecting, say, Calvary Chapel’s 1,600 churches with the Southern Baptist Convention’s 46,000. No common standards apply but the authority of scripture, which is interpreted differently from church to church, school to school, mission to mission.Even with its tightly controlled hierarchy, the Catholic Church has responded abysmally to sex abuse. “The Catholics have been forced through three decades of lawsuits to address this issue,” Tchividjian says. “The first decade, they gave it lip service, but after three decades, hundreds of millions of dollars lost, and publicity that devastated the Church, they were forced to begin addressing it. These days, Christians in the Minya Province in Egypt are going the way of the catacombs since they can't freely use the churches to worship and are conducting their services in private homes.In Egypt, 15 places of worship have been closed so far while seventy villages are not allowed to erect places of worship. Anba Makarios, Bishop of Minya Province exposed the government officials, a move that is unusual which could level reaction by government. "The security services are continuing the closure of a Coptic church in the village of Kedwan in Minya," said Anba Makarios, Bishop of Minya."We are trying to find any places to hold religious rites so as not to violate the Copts' travel ban and to avoid possible dangers," he said. The travel ban was due to killings of Copts who travel to worship outside their villages to other locations where churches are open."These places may be a hall, a house, or even a small room with poor ventilation. The right to worship is forbidden on the whims of some local officials. Most times it is like tracking the Copts to prevent them from praying. Other times, persecution comes by use of force against the people and the clerics."He added: "Although the Constitution of the State affirms the freedom of worship, and although the directions of the President [Al-Sisi] is to achieve justice and equality and the establishment of peace and stability in the pillars of the country, but unfortunately, the suffering is still the same, the approach is still the same approach, the mechanism is still the same mechanism."In Egypt, a church cannot open its doors once closed and neither can there be an establishment of a new church. You would never see a new church built with domes, lamps, crucifixes and bells.In the village of Kedwan where the church was closed, there are no issues of crisis between Copts and Muslims, yet local authorities are pushing it. Following the disbanding of the Muslim Brotherhood in August 2013, the church establishments in Minya suffered especially the most. The attacks took on houses and property belonging to Christians there.The criticism of a church official the size of the Bishop of Minya security services in a public statement is rare since such an act is usually met with repercussions. "The severity of the statement reflects the anger of the church because of the injustice imposed on the Copts, especially in Minya, where extremist currents are growing" said Church lawyer Ihab Ramzi. The suffering stems from the mismanagement of security leaders, where there is always someone who carries within it a grudge against the Copts.In other words, laws that approve church building are not followed. The copts of Egypt are feisty and the most resilient to persecution. Take for example the church in the village of Kedwan, which includes 1200 Christians was stormed in 2012 by extremists. This did not make them quit. Christians resorted to pray in the churches of neighboring villages with the help of the episcopate which was sending buses to transport Christians to these churches. But after the dangers facing the Copts because of threats, dozens were killed during a trip to a monastery in the desert of Minya months ago. The Christians in the village of Kedwan then started to pray in their homes until one of them donated a room in order for Christians to gather and to observe their religious rites. This surprised the security services which prevented them from praying in this place. They evacuated the worshipers and asked the priest not to pray again, which raised the resentment of the Bishop of Minya."It is now clear that the Christians of Kedwan are not allowed to go to pray in a nearby church or to open their village church, nor to assemble in a room in the village to pray" said the Bishop. And its the same issue in Turkey. Following the confiscation of their properties, many Syriacs, one of the world’s oldest Christian communities, are temporarily returning to Europe to live together with their families and they are asking for a peaceful atmosphere to be ensured for these returns not to be permanent.An Al-Monitor report said last month that around 50 properties belonging to the Syriac Orthodox Church were seized by Turkish authorities who claimed that the ownership deeds had lapsed. Mor Gabriel monastery applied for an appeal, which was rejected by a special commission working on the liquidation of the assets.The commission began last year to transfer assets which were considered invalid following a municipal reform. Dozens of houses of worship, cemeteries and other properties of the Syriac community were confiscated by state authorities.Some of the assets, including churches in Mardin province that were owned by the Syriac community, were seized by the Treasury and were planned to be transferred to the Religious Affairs Directorate. While a special commission established under the Mardin Governor’s Office cancelled a decision to transfer Syriac churches and monasteries to Turkey’s Religious Affairs Directorate, the fate of assets remains unclear.Syriacs living in Mardin are also concerned about the insecure political and economic situation and the Turkish government’s approach to different beliefs and cultures and fear for their lives.Renate Sommer, a member of the European Parliament from the Christian Democratic Union, part of the European People’s Party, harshly criticized the decision of seizure and said the Syriacs were at risk of being wiped out in Turkey.The Syriac community has a total of seven foundations in Turkey, most of which are located in Mardin. According to Turkish officials, there are approximately 25,000 Syriacs living in Turkey, 18,000 of whom are in İstanbul, with the rest scattered in eastern and southeastern provinces.Approximately 3,000 Syriacs had migrated from Europe to Turkey in the 1980s.

The prophet Moses is amongst the greatest combatants against racism to have ever lived. The Egyptians, filled with nationalism, wanted to purge and and enslave all of the Hebrews in their land. And we learn of some more details on this from an ancient historian named Diodorus Siculus, who lived in the first century before Christ. Diodorus spent decades investigating antiquity for his many volumes of history books. During his inquiry he journeyed to Egypt where he found the Egyptian account of Moses and the enslavement of the Hebrews, and he used this information for his history. Diodorus learned this account from the works of the Egyptian historian, Manetho, and although his work is not based on the Bible, we can still learn from it because it is indeed the Egyptian point of view, and from this we can further our understanding on their biases and prejudices. More than this, we can further our knowledge on the history of eugenics, that it is not modern, that it goes all the way back to antiquity, that the Egyptians saw Hebrews and people with ailments as physically deformed or infirm who were worthy of death and enslavement. As we read in Diodorus’ history:<blockquote>“In ancient times a great plague occurred in Egypt, and many ascribed the cause of it to the gods, who were offended with them. For since the multitudes of strangers of different nationalities, who lived there, made use of their foreign rites in religious ceremonies and sacrifices, the ancient manner of worshipping the gods, practised by the ancestors of the Egyptians, had been quite lost and forgotten. Therefore the native inhabitants concluded that, unless all the foreigners were driven out, they would never be free from their miseries. All the foreigners were forthwith expelled, and the most valiant and noble among them, under some notable leaders, were brought to Greece and other places, as some relate; the most famous of their leaders were Danaus and Cadmus. But the majority of the people descended into a country not far from Egypt, which is now called Judaea and at that time was altogether uninhabited.” (Diod. Sic. Josephus quotes Lysimachus:<blockquote>“The people of the Jews being leprous, and scabby, and subject to certain other kinds of distempers, in the days of Bocchoris King of Egypt, they fled to the temples; and got their food there by begging. And as the numbers were very great that were fallen under these diseases, there arose a scarcity in Egypt. Hereupon Bocchoris, the King of Egypt, sent some to consult the oracle of [Jupiter] Hammon about this scarcity. The god’s answer was this; that he must purge his temples of impure and impious men, by expelling them out of those temples into desert places: but as to the scabby and leprous people, he must drown them, and purge his temples: the sun having an indignation at these men’s being suffered to live. And by this means the land will bring forth its fruits. Upon Bocchoris’s having received these oracles, he called for their priests, and the attendants upon their altars; and ordered them to make a collection of the impure people; and to deliver them to the soldiers, to carry them away into the desert: but to take the leprous people, and wrap them in sheets of lead, and let them down into the sea. Hereupon the scabby and leprous people were drowned: and the rest were gotten together, and sent into desert places; in order to be exposed to destruction. In this case they assembled themselves together; and took counsel what they should do: and determined, that as the night was coming on, they should kindle fires, and lamps, and keep watch: that they also should fast the next night, and propitiate the gods, in order to obtain deliverance from them. That on the next day there was one Moses who advised them, that they should venture upon a journey; and go along one road; till they should come to places fit for habitation: that he charged them to have no kind regards for any man; nor give good counsel to any; but always to advise them for the worst: and to overturn all those temples and altars of the gods they should meet with: that the rest commended what he had said, with one consent; and did what they had resolved on: and so travelled over the desert: but that the difficulties of the journey being over, they came to a country inhabited: and that there they abused the men, and plundered and burnt their temples; and then came into that land which is called Judea: and there they built a city, and dwelt therein; and that their city was named Hierosyla, from this their robbing of the temples; but that still, upon the success they had afterwards, they, in time, changed its denomination; that it might not be a reproach to them: and called the city Hierosolyma, and themselves Hierosolymites.” (Josephus, Against Apion, 1. 24)</blockquote><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/df24291309d78308c38c5a85b28bfd93.jpg"><img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-113625" height="400" sizes="(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px" src="http://shoebat.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/df24291309d78308c38c5a85b28bfd93.jpg" srcset="http://shoebat.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/df24291309d78308c38c5a85b28bfd93.jpg 678w, http://shoebat.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/df24291309d78308c38c5a85b28bfd93-300x177.jpg 300w" width="678" /></a>Here the Hebrews are described as having all sorts of ailments and deformities, they are referred to as a sickly and disfigured race. The ancient Egyptians saw the Jews as the Nazis saw the Jews: a contorted eyesore that needed to be destroyed for the good of the nation. You could imagine what propaganda was being produced in ancient Egypt; you can picture in your mind the Egyptians describing the Jews as criminals and diseased, worthy of being forced into work camps, just as the Nazis did. The description of the pagan Egyptian historian, Manetho, is a reflection of how the Egyptians saw the Hebrews in the time of Moses: as inferior to the Egyptians, and worthy of enslavement. The Nazis would depict the Jews as being short people with hooked noses, unlike the Aryan Germans who were tall and blond (an inaccurate generalization, of course). The Egyptians, filled with nationalist craze and fervor about how they were descendants of the gods, no doubt saw the Hebrews as an inferior and mismatched race of people. The Scripture says, “the Egyptians hated the children of Israel, and afflicted them and mocked them” (Exodus 1:13). Now, you can imagine what they said when mocking the Hebrews: words horrific enough to anger God, and I can imagine that much of it was out of nationalist and racialist pride.   The ancient fragment quoted above says that the Pharaoh ordered that those with ailments and disfigurements be drowned, and this is no different from the Pharaoh ordering that the male babies of Hebrew women be drowned in the Nile river. The Scripture says:<blockquote>“And the king of Egypt spoke to the midwives of the Hebrews: of whom one was called Sephora, the other Phua,Commanding them: When you shall do the office of midwives to the Hebrew women, and the time of delivery is come: if it be a man child, kill it: if a woman, keep it alive.But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded, but saved the men children.And the king called for them and said: What is that you meant to do, that you would save the men children?They answered: The Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women: for they themselves are skillful in the office of a midwife; and they are delivered before we come to them.Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied and grew exceedingly strong.And because the midwives feared God, he built them houses.Pharao therefore charged all his people, saying: Whatsoever shall be born of the male sex, ye shall cast into the river: whatsoever of the female, ye shall save alive.” (Exodus 1:15-22) </blockquote>Now why does the Pharaoh order the male children to be killed but the female children to be spared? Because he wanted to destroy the male seed of the Hebrews, so that only Egyptian men could impregnate the Hebrew women, and by this, destroying the male line. In other words, the Pharaoh wanted to make the Hebrews into Egyptians. It was a nationalism similar to that of the Ottomans who, in the early 20th century, wanted to force the Christian Armenians, Greeks and Assyrians to adopt the Ottoman identity and become embedded into what they described as an ‘Ottoman soul.’ And remember what Diodorus said, that “since the multitudes of strangers of different nationalities, who lived there, made use of their foreign rites in religious ceremonies and sacrifices, the ancient manner of worshipping the gods, practised by the ancestors of the Egyptians, had been quite lost and forgotten.” The Egyptians wanted the Hebrews to be forcefully integrated not only into the Egyptian race, but into the Egyptian religion, much like how the Ottomans wanted the Christians to convert to Islam. Josephus describes the rise of Egyptian racism towards the Hebrews as beginning with the Egyptians becoming lazy and then jealous of the work ethic and success of the children of Israel:<blockquote>“NOW it happened that the Egyptians grew delicate and lazy, as to pains-taking, and gave themselves up to other pleasures, and in particular to the love of gain. They also became very ill-affected towards the Hebrews, as touched with envy at their prosperity; for when they saw how the nation of the Israelites flourished, and were become eminent already in plenty of wealth, which they had acquired by their virtue and natural love of labor, they thought their increase was to their own detriment. And having, in length of time, forgotten the benefits they had received from Joseph, particularly the crown being now come into another family, they became very abusive to the Israelites, and contrived many ways of afflicting them; for they enjoined them to cut a great number of channels for the river, and to build walls for their cities and ramparts, that they might restrain the river, and hinder its waters from stagnating, upon its running over its own banks: they set them also to build pyramids, (17) and by all this wore them out; and forced them to learn all sorts of mechanical arts, and to accustom themselves to hard labor. And four hundred years did they spend under these afflictions; for they strove one against the other which should get the mastery, the Egyptians desiring to destroy the Israelites by these labors, and the Israelites desiring to hold out to the end under them.” (Josephus, Antiquities, 2.9) </blockquote>The Egyptians grew lazy, and seeing the success of foreigners, they were wroth. Racism, much of the time, is actually an insatiable hatred for foreigners when they become more successful than the indigenous population. Josephus goes on to say that a pagan priest told the Pharaoh that a Hebrew would one day rise and make the Hebrews over the Egyptians:“One of those sacred scribes, who are very sagacious in foretelling future events truly, told the king, that about this time there would a child be born to the Israelites, who, if he were reared, would bring the Egyptian dominion low, and would raise the Israelites; that he would excel all men in virtue, and obtain a glory that would be remembered through all ages.”  (Ibid) In other words, the Egyptians wanted to be the dominant and superior race, and did not want the Jews to be above them in success. They wanted to keep the Hebrews in a servile position, to maintain Egyptian domination. The Egyptians wanted to kill those they deemed as undesirables, and Moses was their savior. Moses’ liberation of the Hebrews was a foreshadowing of Christ and His redemption of humanity. As Moses came for the undesirables, so Christ came for the undesirables. Christ declared the parable of the great banquet, which is a direct strike against the evil ideology of eugenics: “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”  (Luke 14:12-14)World War One and Two started because one race wanted to dominate the world. And, should he sin again, to return until both the sin as well as all near occasions of sin are eradicated from his soul.Now some people will say BUT I CONFESSED MY SINS AND BECAME A CHRISTIAN AND NOW I AM SAVED AND JESUS HAS TAKEN EVERYTHING FOR ME.Correct- to a point. Accepting Christ's salvation is critical- it is to make the decision to be saved. However, becoming a Christian does not give one license to continue to sin, and neither does it prevent a man from sinning because he has free will. God will cleanse them, but it is man's responsibility to work with God to keep his soul clean by choosing to do what is right and avoid what is wrong as well as all ways that lead to sin.If in American society a pair of jeans is the cultural equivalent of a robe for the world of antiquity, then it is imperative that a man keep his jeans that God has given him clean as a metaphor for avoiding sin. As Sacred Scripture states, one must clean the inside of the cup (the soul) in order that the outside might be clean, for just as Jesus warned the Pharisees, they may wear beautiful clothing externally, but owing to the condition of their souls, inside they were as tombs, filled with all types of evil and death:<blockquote> “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. It is these you ought to have practiced without neglecting the others. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel!“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may become clean.- Matthew 23:23-27</blockquote>Likewise, the emphasis here on clean jeans is opposed to genes.As we have stated before, merely echoing the words of sacred scripture, God came to save those who believe in Him and receive Him. He will save anybody who wants to be saved. It does not matter who you are or where you come from, what types of clothing (jeans) you wear or what your genes are, because as St. John writes:<blockquote>But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” -John 3:7-12</blockquote>Now one can certainly be proud of ones genes, and one should because God made each of us unique and not equal to the others in terms of appearance, abilities, and limitations, and we should be content with who we are.  However, this has absolutely no effect on a man's humanity.  It is clear that some people are taller or shorter, stronger or weaker, smarter or dumber, able or handicapped, larger or smaller in different ways than others, but none of these qualities determine the humanity of a man. However, their dignity in the eyes of God is the same, and most importantly, their righteousness before God comes from the lives they lives.What clothes they wear or their physical abilities or limitations are irrelevant, because God looks at the garment of the soul.If the eyes of God, he does not care about "clean genes" because that is a human idea based on an assumption that man is solely an animal not created in the image and likeness of God and as such can be "purified" by eliminating "undesirables" from the "herd." Such an idea is anathema to God because as God makes clear in the parable of the wedding, He wants not "clean genes" in the idea of notions of "racial purity," nor does he want "clean jeans" in the sense of external garments that are outwardly attractive while a man is still soiled from sin inside. Instead, he wants a clean soul, and when it gets dirty, to have it cleaned from sin and prevented from getting soiled again by avoiding the means by which it became soiled just like how a man keeps a pair of nice clothes- jeans or not- clean, gets them cleaned when they are dirty, and avoids the means by which they became dirty.<iframe class='youtube-player' type='text/html' width='640' height='390' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/KMf8WHMeg1g?version=3&rel=1&fs=1&autohide=2&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&wmode=transparent' allowfullscreen='true' style='border:0;'></iframe>A scene from the George C.
