Scientists In Shock As Colon And Rectal Cancer Rates Skyrocket Among Younger People And Nobody Wants To Explain Why

Colon and rectal cancer is something that people over the age of 50 are at risk for. Yet to the surprise of scientists, colon and rectal cancer rates are "skyrocketing" and there is "no explanation" for why this is happening:<blockquote>Adults in the United States are dying from colon and rectal cancers at an increasing rate about age 50, when they should just be beginning screenings, according to a new study from the American Cancer Society.Since routine screening is generally not recommended for most adults under 50, the cancers found in younger adults are often in advanced stages and more deadly, said Dr. James Church, a colorectal surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.Church, who was not involved in the new study, said he has seen this trend in death rates up close. Last year, on separate occasions, Church saw two 36-year-olds with stage IV colon cancer, he said.In both of those patients, who had no relation to each other, the cancer spread to their livers, making it so he couldn't operate.Both died, he said."They both had young families, both little girls, and they lost their father in one case and their mother in the other, forever, because of this nasty disease when it's advanced," Church said."It makes a big impact on me, and it makes me keenly interested in trying to solve this issue," he said. "Everybody in colorectal surgical circles is seeing increased incidence of colon cancer in the young, defined as younger than 50."The new study, published Tuesday in the medical journal JAMA, is a followup to one that found that incidence rates of colon and rectal cancers are rising in American adults under 50, the recommended screening age.According to the previous study, adults born in 1990 could have twice the risk of colon cancer and four times the risk of rectal cancer at the same age had they been born in 1950.The reason for the rise in both incidence and death rates remains unclear."We've known that there's this increasing trend in people under 50 for incidence, but a lot of people were saying, 'Hey, this is good news. This means people are getting more colonoscopies, and cancer's being detected earlier,' " said Rebecca Siegel, an epidemiologist at the American Cancer Society and lead author of the new study.Now, "what (the new study) indicates is that the increase in incidence is a true increase in disease occurrence and not an artifact of more colonoscopy use," she said. "If it was just colonoscopy use, you wouldn't expect to see an effect on death rates, or even you might see a decline in death rates."Colorectal cancer, which includes both colon and rectal cancers, is the third-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women in the United States and the second leading cause in men, and this year, it's expected to result in about 50,260 deaths, according to the American Cancer Society.Globally, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer, according to the World Cancer Research Fund International.The new study included data on colon and rectal cancer diagnoses and death reports for adults ages 20 to 54 in the United States from 1970 to 2014.The mortality data came from the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program, as reported by the National Center for Health Statistics, which tracks cause-specific mortality rates.After analyzing the data, the researchers found that colon and rectal cancer mortality rates among 20- to 54-year-olds declined overall from 1970 to 2004 but then increased by 1% annually from 2004 to 2014. In 2014, the total colorectal mortality rate in that age group was 4.3 people per 100,000.Additionally, "when we looked at the trend by race, the increase in death rates is confined to whites, and in blacks, we see a slight decline over the entire 45-year study period in death rates," Siegel said."That's very surprising, because whites and blacks have similar patterns in the major risk factors for colorectal cancer, like obesity," she said. "A lot of people want to look to the natural culprit, obesity, but that probably isn't what's completely driving this increase in colorectal cancer."It turns out that what's driving the increase in both colorectal cancer incidence and death rates remains a mystery, Siegel said. The earthquakes began this past Tuesday night when five earthquakes repeatedly struck Oklahoma, followed by two more in the early hours of Thursday. The study was extensive. It covered 22 countries across the entire eastern Mediterranean, including Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. This is the population of 600 million people. Suicide increased 100 per cent, murder 152 percent compared to a respective rise of 19 per cent and 12 per cent in the rest of the world. This is besides sexual assaults and mental illness and a whopping 943 percent rise in HIV rates.Is all this caused by global-warming perhaps? And if one attributes all this to 'war', why is suicide rates <a>rising 19 per cent (murder) and 12 per cent (suicide) in the rest of the world? Eventually, two other black men succeed, but the patrol catches up to them and encircle the original suspect, while more onlookers arrive. Somebody is heard shouting, “Do not beat him!”It is not clear what the man was being arrested for, nor whether he was being abused by the soldiers in any way. Another video taken at the same scene shows no sign of violence towards the soldiers.The incident has provoked a sharp reaction from local residents.“Abandoned and betrayed!” wrote Lello Cretella, the user who posted the video. “Episodes like these happen every day in our neighborhood and everyone pretends not to see!”“We feel alone and abandoned... we fear for us and our families!”Since being uploaded on Sunday, the video has been shared by hundreds of users, including right-wing politician Matteo Salvini.“Men in our army are surrounded and attacked by dozens of immigrants who wanted to prevent the arrest of one of them,” he wrote. “We are now in urban warfare.”Matteo’s party, the Northern League, once advocated separatism from southern Italy, including Naples, which it saw as backward, but is now trying to court southern voters on an anti-immigration platform."The tension is very high every day,” said Naples councilor Alessandro Gallo, commenting on the video. “However, something very serious is happening with the army being surrounded. It is necessary to intervene."The soldiers in the video had been patrolling the streets as a part of Operation Safe Roads, launched in 2008, which deployed thousands of troops on the streets of 38 Italian cities to help safeguard sensitive targets and patrol against petty crime. The same year extra troops were also deployed to the Naples and Campania regions to help quell gang violence by the Camorra, the local mafia. In September 2008, race riots broke out in a nearby town, Castel Volturno, after Camorra killers shot dead six West Africans and one local arcade owner at random in an attempt to intimidate immigrant drug gangs. The death is under investigation.The morbidly obese killer had begged for and received a death sentence in 1998, but it was later overturned on appeal and he was sentenced to two life sentences without parole.In addition to the two women he was convicted of murdering, 23-year-old Kathy Spicer and 39-year-old Cathy Ann Magaziner, Metheny confessed to a sickening string of other murders he was never convicted of.In a jailhouse confession, Metheny said his killing spree began after his wife became addicted to crack and ran away with their six-year-old son.He was charged in the ax murder of two homeless men under a bridge, but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.In July of 1994, he met Magaziner at a bar and lured her back to his home, a small trailer on an isolated pallet company storage lot in Baltimore.Metheny worked at the pallet company on a dead end road and had the keys to the gates.He later told police that he had sex with her, and then strangled her with an extension cord and buried her in a shallow grave on the lot.Her beheaded remains were found several years later on the property.When investigators asked why he did it, Metheny responded: 'Sense of power. I don't know. Vulnerable. I dreaded, just - I got a very - got a rush out of it, got a high out of it. Call it what you want. I had no real excuse why other than I like to do it. (Pause). I don't know how to describe it.'Though it was never proven in court, Metheny said in a jailhouse confession that he butchered the bodies of Magaziner and Spicer and sold the meat in a roadside stand, calling it his 'special meat'.'I had real roast beef and pork sandwiches and why not they were very good,' he wrote. 'The human body tastes was very similar to pork. I was at work, I was a truck driver. I was working overtime this one night. Then I got off and went home as I always did. But when I opened the door and turned on the light, I noticed there was nothing there. My ole lady had taken everything including my son and left me. Her leaving was not my problem. But she took my 6-year-old son with her. She was a crack addict and a worthless piece of shit. I would have paid her to get out of my life. All she had to do was take my son over to my mothers house and she could have had everything else and be gone.I found out about 6 months later she had moved on the other side of town with some asshole that had her out selling her ass for drugs. They got busted for drugs and they took my son away from them for child neglect and child abuse.I had no chance of going to social services and trying to get my son back do to my past criminal record. So I took it upon myself with the hatred I had for these 2 who lost my son, to go looking for them. I had found out from someone that they was going under that bridge and getting high with some homeless motherfuckers who lived under that bridge.I went under there looking for them. They were not there, but the two homeless motherfuckers they got high with them were down there. They were passed out on some old stinking mattress and that's where they were when I left, except there were dead from being chopped up.That same night I lured the first crackwhore down under that bridge. I got her high and was trying to get information out of her about my ole ladies whereabouts. She acted like she didn't know, so I beat the hell out of her and raped her ass then killed her. I put her in some bushes and went and lured the second bitch down there. I did the same to her as the last one, but as I was about to throw her in the bushes with the other one I noticed an old blackman down by the river fishing looking back up at me. I grabbed a steel pipe that was lying by and ran down on him and layed his head wide open. So I put the two girls and him in the river and weighed them down with rocks.That was a very busy night for me 5 murders within about 7 hours. I washed up in that river and cleaned up the crime scene as much as I could, then left. 2 1/2 weeks later I was arrested and charged with the murders of the 2 men I chopped up. I spent close to 18 months in Baltimore City Jail waiting to go to trial. The trial lasted 1 week and it was thrown out of court cause of lack of evidence.I was free again. I went back and talked my old boss into giving my job back to me at the pallet company. There was a little trailer on the property, so I told my boss to let me stay there and I could keep an eye on the place. He agreed to this and gave me the keys to the front gate and main building. The company was on a dead end road and was very isolated. It was perfect for what I wanted to do.I lured 2 more crackwhores up there to my trailer. I killed and butchered their bodies up. I cut the meat up and put it in some Tupperware bowls then put it in a freezer.
