An adult would probably have walked by, but to a child the wide eyes and fuzzy orange fur would have been irresistible.</p><p>“Why would Isis use something nice, like a bear or a rabbit? They used this toy because they know the peshmerga [Kurdish fighters] will not touch it, but children will,” said Colonel Nawzad Kamil Hassan, an engineer with the Kurdish forces, who says his unit has cleared more than 50 tonnes of explosives from areas once controlled by the militants.</p><p>As a broad coalition of forces tries to push Isis out of Mosul, its last major stronghold in Iraq, Hassan has decided to preserve some of the most creative, cruel and unusual of those homemade bombs to use as training aids for new recruits to one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. The homemade explosive devices provide a lesson in the depths of ingenuity, intelligence and resources that Isis devotes to spreading murder and fear even when its fighters can no longer terrorise in person.</p><p>In the areas where it rules for long enough to seed them with bombs, the group has created a dark, parallel universe, where even the most mundane object can kill. A toy, a playing card and an abandoned watch are all detonators designed to spark the acquisitive curiosity of a returning civilian, who would be maimed or murdered by the explosion.</p><p>An ordinary hose lying across a road is another simple but ingenious detonator. A bundle of old clothes, which a dog or cat could step across without harm, would have exploded if someone had picked it up to reclaim or throw away. A pile of mud and stones is a concealed mortar. A discarded piece of plywood would have activated a bomb when it was picked up or kicked aside, as a ball bearing rolled down a tube to complete the circuit. Duct tape, a lever and a trip wire turn a door into a deadly weapon. 540,000 Christians Demand That The Pakistani Government Release Christian Woman Sentenced To Death For Preaching Against Islam

<p>540,000 Christians are demanding that the Pakistani government release Asia Bibi, a Christian woman, from being executed for preaching against Islam. Here is <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.christianpost.com/news/over-540k-sign-petition-urging-pakistan-release-asia-bibi-christian-mother-death-row-only-crime-faith-in-jesus-171201/">the report:</a></p><blockquote><p>A global <span id="IL_AD2" class="IL_AD">petition</span> in support of Christian mother of five Asia Bibi has reached over 540,000 signatures, according to the American Center for Law and Justice. The group is urging Christians to continue to show their support for the Pakistani woman whose only crime was her faith in Jesus Christ.</p><p>"Asia's only crime was affirming her faith in Jesus Christ. Her firm stand for her Christian faith has cost her dearly. Her case is a controversial one, with radical Islamic clerics calling for her to be hanged," the ACLJ said in an update on its petition.</p><p>"This controversy, however, does not excuse Pakistan from honoring its international and domestic legal obligations. Asia is still on death row, her fate is still uncertain, and Pakistan's Supreme Court has yet to reschedule her hearing," it added.</p><p>Bibi has been imprisoned for seven years as she waits for her case to be resolved. The mother of five has been on death row since 2010 after a group of Muslim co-workers accused her of insulting the Muslim prophet Muhammad, something which she denies.</p><p>Bibi was supposed to find out in October at a final appeal hearing at Pakistan's Supreme Court whether or not she will be executed, but that decision has been delayed after one of the senior judges who was set to preside over her appeal suddenly resigned.</p><p>Local media said that Justice Iqbal Hameed recused himself from the case earlier in October, without giving a specific reason.</p><p>The ACLJ noted that the Supreme Court has yet to reschedule her hearing, and the Christian woman's fate remains uncertain.</p><p>The conservative law group has also sent letters to Jalil Abbas Jilani, the ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, expressing its dismay with the delay of justice for Bibi.</p><p>"As we stated before, Asia's arrest, imprisonment, and death sentence violate international agreements Pakistan has ratified without <span id="IL_AD1" class="IL_AD">reservations</span>. Asia has already spent seven years in prison waiting for the final outcome of her case," <span id="IL_AD5" class="IL_AD">the letter</span> to Jilani stated.</p><p>"This is utterly unconscionable in light of the well-known fact that most blasphemy cases are based on false accusations, followed by faulty investigations and trials full of errors. This is precisely what happened in Asia's case," it added of the recent delay.</p><p>Other advocates, such as Wilson Chowdhry, chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association, suggested that Hameed "did not want to face the outright condemnation that people in the West would have for his sentencing of Asia Bibi to death by hanging."</p><p>Chowdhry also shared his deep fears for Bibi's fate.</p><p>"Every day that <span id="IL_AD4" class="IL_AD">passes</span> I fear that she will either be killed in custody and that her death will be masked as a natural death, or that she will finally fail her Supreme Court hearing — as this would be the most popular decision in a country riven with hate," he wrote.</p><p>"Sadly that position is even held by much of the judiciary (officials) who have also been blinded by the hate agenda promulgated through media and the education system in Pakistan."</p></blockquote>

A Muslim witness is given higher authority then non-Muslim testimonies under sharia law, these are Islamic laws that determine Pakistani law.</p><p>News of the arrests created huge community tension, however prompt police action prevented threats to the Christian community and the formation of a mob from becoming a full scale attack on an innocent Christian community.</p><p>Over the next four days local politicians and the BPCA have been clamouring for justice for the innocent mother and child. Four days by a miracle the two victims were released from Civil Lines Police station in Quetta on 25th October. The mother and child have expressed in no uncertain terms that they had been interrogated and suffered torture during their 4 day detainment. However despite their treatment they both did not confess to the crime of blasphemy.</p><p>Moreover, Police have confirmed that no evidence of any alleged Koran desecration was found. "Unfortunately, this is the worst example of hatred and intolerance against Christians and treatment toward them in Pakistan."</p><p>"The government of Pakistan must look into such cases and take appropriate steps to bring necessary changes to stop the ongoing misuse of this law," he added. "The international community has continuously expressed its concern and called for amendments." <p>Muslim mobs are pushing the government of Pakistan to execute capital punishment on Christian Catholic woman, Asia Bibi, after she has already been sentenced to death the State. Why is Asia Bibi not hanged even after the death sentence by Lahore High Court and Supreme Court,” he asked, warning “the government will pay if it acts on foreign agenda and betrays us.”</p><p>Meanwhile, a high ranking Punjab judge has offered to become part of the appeals panel and sya he would confirm the death penalty  issued in the first instance by the High Court of Lahore. "I have long studied the case - the Assistant Attorney General Chaudhry Ahmad Zubair Farooq said yesterday - and overwhelming evidence and testimonies have emerged against the defendant".</p><p>Bishop Shukardin Samson of Hyderabad, Sindh Province, explained to AsiaNews that it is the competence of the Supreme Court, to decide "whether to listen or not" to the opinion of the prosecutor. The problem, said the prelate, "is that there are extremist groups who are paying great attention to a story that has taken on international significance."</p><p>Meanwhile, many Christians and members of activist groups have vented their frustration on social networks.  Benjamín Yousaf, Executive Director of NGO Dignity First, in defense of the Christian, wrote on Facebook that "the judges seemed unprepared" despite studying the case for 15 months. Timna Khan explained that "even the jury knows she is innocent, but they cannot judge because the mullahs hold the law hostage”.</p><p>A firm condemnation of the protests of the Islamic extremist groups was expressed by Muhammad Tahseen, a Muslim and leader of a forum that includes more than 50 associations and movements in defense of human rights: "The case against Asia Bibi is wrong and the blasphemy laws should be removed from the Constitution" of the country, he stated.</p></blockquote>
