The U.S. claims it wants to hit the Islamic State but in one year of bombing it never really touched one of its biggest sources of income. Hundreds of oil tanker trucks are waiting every day at IS distribution points to smuggle oil to Turkey and elsewhere. Only one such distribution point was ever bombed and that attack was by the Iraqi air force.
Now the Russian President Putin played some “name and shame” at the G-20 meeting in Turkey and, lo and behold, the problem gets solved.
The Obama administration recently <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/13/us/politics/us-steps-up-its-attacks-on-isis-controlled-oil-fields-in-syria.html?ref=topics&_r=0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect">claimed</a> it would increase attacks on the most expensive Syrian oil infrastructure which is owned by the Syrian government but under IS control. But it said it would still not hit the large truck gatherings.

<div>While the American-led air campaign has conducted periodic airstrikes against oil refineries and other production facilities in eastern Syria that the group controls, the organization’s engineers have been able to quickly repair damage, and keep the oil flowing, American officials said.</div>

<div>The Obama administration has also balked at attacking the Islamic State’s fleet of tanker trucks — its main distribution network — fearing civilian casualties.</div>

But now the administration has decided to increase the attacks and focus on inflicting damage that takes longer to fix or requires specially ordered parts, American officials said.

The obvious target to stop the oil trade is to hit the trucks. Without trucks the other infrastructure is useless for IS as the oil can not be sold.
With trucks destroyed the men behind the smuggling will lose all profits and leave the business.
The “civilian casualties” argument does not hold. There could be warnings to avoid human damage or one could consider that these oil smugglers are dealing with terrorists and thereby accomplices.
The real U.S. reluctance to hit the oil smuggling might be out of deference to the Turkish government which of course profits from such oil transfers.
Then came along Russia and its President Putin and demonstrated at the current G-20 meeting that the U.S. is not serious about fighting IS.
Today the Turkish journalist Abdullah Bozkurt <a href="https://twitter.com/abdbozkurt/status/666276504284868608" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect">reports</a> remarks by President Putin from a G-20 sideline event:

Putin provided that information and the photos yesterday. Obama must have been deeply embarrassed and pissed. Suddenly, a day after Putin exposed the U.S. reluctance to hit IS where it is needed, a big truck assembly <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/17/world/middleeast/us-strikes-syria-oil.html?ref=world&_r=0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" shape="rect">was bombed</a>:

<div>Intensifying pressure on the Islamic State, United States warplanes for the first time attacked hundreds of trucks on Monday that the extremist group has been using to smuggle the crude oil it has been producing in Syria, American officials said.</div>

Until Monday, the United States had refrained from striking the fleet used to transport oil, believed to include more than 1,000 tanker trucks, because of concerns about causing civilian casualties.</div>

</blockquote>
It seems that Putin’s naming and shaming with regards to the oil smuggling was successful. We might soon see a similar effect on the financing sources he mentioned.

Obama flatly refuses french president’s invitation to join forces against isis

It’s hard to believe,, but France is stepping up to the plate after the Paris attacks, vowing to take the fight directly to ISIS. To that end, French President Francois Hollande has ordered his forces to carry out strikes on the terrorists in their main stronghold of Raqqa in Syria.
Even more shockingly, the French socialist has called upon President Obama to “join our forces” in combat against the ISIS caliphate, a far cry from the impassioned refusal of the French to support the U.S. in the war in Iraq 10 years ago.
But now that he has an opportunity to lead a concerted, multilateral effort against the jihadists, Obama has completely rejected his offer to form an alliance to take down this infestation.
After flatly declining Hollande’s invitation, Obama hammered Republicans who say that he should pursue an aggressive course of action against the Islamic State like the one the French president is now engaging in. He even insinuated that responding to his critics was beneath him, sneeringly stating “I’m too busy for that,” when asked about such criticisms.
Although Obama likes to talk big and tough when the subject of defeating ISIS comes up, he becomes very shrill and very defensive when he is questioned about his strategy against the terrorist organization. After a year of airstrikes and training local forces, the group still exists, and the only thing Obama can do is belittle conservatives for pointing it out. Per remarks of his reported in the Daily Mail:

“‘If they think somehow that their advisers are better than my joint chiefs of staff or my generals on the ground, I want to meet them. And we can have that debate.’
That was a jab at Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, who said last week that China was actively involved in the Syrian civil war, and suggested his intelligence sources were better than the White House’s.
He also took a swipe at Donald Trump, the GOP’s front-runner, who has become fond of claiming that America ‘doesn’t win anymore.’
‘What I’m not interested in doing,’ Obama groused, ‘is posing or pursuing some notion of American leadership or America winning – or whatever other slogans they come up with – that has no relationship to what is actually going to work to protect the American people and to protect the people in the region who are getting killed and to protect our allies and people like France.’”

However, others are not nearly as impressed with the President’s response as he presumably is. According to Breitbart:

“The president has apparently lost the press — who seem to be more hawkish than Obama appears — questioning him repeatedly on the need to change his strategy after ‘more than year-long bombing campaign in Iraq and in Syria has failed to contain the ambition and the ability of ISIS to launch attacks in the West.’
Now, France is taking a more active military role in the war against ISIS and looking back as Obama continues to try to lead from behind, claiming successes in the face of what he obtusely calls ‘setbacks.’
In a statement, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said, ‘Never before have I seen an American president project such weakness on the global stage, let alone at a time when the world is in such desperate need of the leadership that only we can provide.’
Others question if America can actually provide that leadership while this president still holds office.”

The Guardian’s effort to track fatal shootings by American police, known as ‘<a href="http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/about-the-counted" target="_blank">The Counted</a>,’ reached the 1000 mark this week. With an average of more than three Americans shot and killed by police per day, this shocking statistic should be a wake-up call to the gun-toting vigilante justice that’s being trained into United States police forces.
In a country where its citizens are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, the nation’s police force operates as the judge, jury, and executioner at least three times a day by taking the lives of citizens without significant accountability for their actions.
The United States government and U.S. citizens have never before had a comprehensive record of the number of people killed by law enforcement. Former U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder described the absence of a National data collection system to track fatal police shootings as “unacceptable.”
Until journalists began tracking fatal police shootings this year, the only way that information was collected was by a ‘voluntary’ program run by the FBI through which law enforcement agencies may or may not choose to submit their annual count of “justifiable homicides,” which it defines as “the killing of a felon in the line of duty.”

<a href="http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/nobody-counts-police-killings-in-the-u-s/article_8ec76c48-4414-5861-9183-134c75a4be10.html" target="_blank">Between 2005 and 2012</a> just 1,100 of America’s 18,000 police agencies chose to voluntarily report a “justifiable homicide” to the FBI.
For <a href="http://www.nleomf.org/facts/officer-fatalities-data/" target="_blank">comparison</a>, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 35 Police Officers have died on the job in firearm-related incidents in 2015.
Saudi Arabia, known worldwide for its public beheadings, executed only <a href="https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2015/08/the-death-penalty-in-saudi-arabia-facts-and-figures/" target="_blank">90 people</a> in the entire year of 2014 according to reports by Amnesty International, when an average of over 90 people are killed by American police forces every 30 days.
To further put the scale of this crisis into perspective, as the world rushes to war over the tragic deaths of <a href="http://revolution-news.com/paris-127-dead-after-multiple-attacks-on-french-capital/" target="_blank">129 people killed</a> earlier this week in Paris, United States police forces kill that many American citizens about every 40 days.
The crisis is clear. The United States trains its police officers to act as public executioners with a laundry list of worn out excuses and aggressive police unions at the ready to battle any public backlash and assist Officers with avoiding accountability for their actions.
A complete dismantling and total reconstruction of current policing systems seem the only available answer.
