UK About To Test Roads That Charge Electric Cars As They Drive

Electric <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/gab_gallery/clever-commercial-for-electric-cars/">cars</a> are an idea that could radically change the impact that we have on the environment when we travel, but there are currently a few limitations that are preventing these cars from reaching their full potential in the global market. The main issue that these cars have had is the fact that many of them don’t hold a charge long, and there are very few charging stations.
This forces <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/3d-printed-electric-car-unveiled-at-auto-show/">electric car</a> owners to carefully plan out their trips to avoid running out of energy and breaking down. The price of the cars have also been an issue for most people, but as with all technology, the price is steadily declining as the manufacturing process becomes more efficient.
The power issue may actually be solved very soon also if a new idea tested later this year in the UK ends up working. The new project actually involves electromagnetic roads, that charge the vehicle as it travels, cutting out the need for <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/bmw-to-only-produce-electric-vehicles-within-10-years/">charging stations</a>. The technology is in the middle of an 18-month test period, which will decide if the project is suitable for public roads.

Unfortunately, the drawback to this project is that it is <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/government-funded-study-says-conspiracy-theorists-are-dangerous-and-could-join-isis/">controlled by the</a> government, and funded by their stolen tax money, but an innovation of this nature could inspire more pure efforts to take place in other parts of the world.
“The potential to recharge low emission vehicles on the move offers exciting possibilities. The government is already committing £500 million over the next five years to keep Britain at the forefront of this technology, which will help boost jobs and growth in the sector. As this study shows, we continue to explore options on how to improve journeys and make low-emission vehicles accessible to families and businesses,” <a href="http://www.boredpanda.com/electric-car-charge-road-highways-england/">Transport Minister Andrew Jones said in a statement.</a>
Highways England Chief Highways Engineer Mike Wilson added that, “Vehicle technologies are advancing at an ever increasing pace and we’re committed to supporting the growth of ultra-low emissions vehicles on our England’s motorways and major A roads. The off road trials of wireless power technology will help to create a more sustainable road network for England and open up new opportunities for businesses that transport goods across the country.”

The Slovakian government will now be accepting Christians who are persecuted by Muslims. The UN is telling Slovakia that they must as well take in Muslims, but Slovakia is firmly responding: ‘We will only take Christians!’
Interior ministry spokesman Ivan Metik said that Muslims would not feel at home in Slovakia because there are no mosques in the nation. He <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2015/08/19/slovakia-will-take-in-200-syrian-refugees-but-they-have-to-be-christian/" target="_blank">said</a>:

We could take 800 Muslims but we don’t have any mosques in Slovakia so how can Muslims be integrated if they are not going to like it here?

Babar Baloch, Central Europe spokesman for the UN’s refugee agency (UNHCR), <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2015/08/19/slovakia-will-take-in-200-syrian-refugees-but-they-have-to-be-christian/" target="_blank">said</a>:

Resettlement is greatly needed for many refugees who are at extreme risk among the world’s most vulnerable groups. …We encourage governments to take an inclusive approach while considering refugees for resettlement and should not base their selection on discrimination.

But Slovakia is still sticking with what it wants and that is, persecuted Christians.

Muslims in Afghanistan — all members of the Taliban — captured a woman and raped her in front of her husband and three children. They then took a rope and strangled her to death with it. According to <a href="http://www.rawa.org/temp/runews/2015/08/09/taliban-execute-woman-after-raping-her-in-front-of-family-police.html#ixzz3jHzGWONv" target="_blank">one Afghan report:</a>

In a shocking incident, a woman has been raped in front of her family members by Taliban militants before she was executed in northern Badakhshan province, officials said Saturday.
The incident happened overnight in Wardoj district’s Tirgaran village where Taliban recently seized a key police base.
Lal Muhammad Ahmad Zai, a spokesman for provincial police, explained that the victim was raped in front of her husband and their three children. She was hanged to death then, he added.
It was not immediately clear what provoked the act.
This is a reminder of another rape incident by Taliban militants in Badakhshan. However, the victim in the incident that dated back late last year was not human but animals – cows.
The police base holding scores fell to Taliban over two weeks ago. While the captured policemen were released, government has yet to retake the base.

“Crabs In A Bucket” As An Analogy For Modern Human Society

The violence and twisted mentality that consumes many cultures around the world is difficult for someone to notice when they have grown up around it, and know nothing else.
Recently I came across an extremely interesting concept that does a really good job at depicting the current mentality that many people have in their personal relationships as well as their business and political ventures.
That is the “crab mentality” which looks at the world as a zero sum game, where there is no such thing as a mutually beneficial exchange. Every situation has winners and losers with this world view, and everyone is out to make someone else a loser. In reality, there are solutions that people can come to without getting hostile with one another, that leads to an outcome where everyone involved is better off than they were before.

Crab mentality is a phrase popular among Filipinos, and was first coined by writer Ninotchka Rosca, in reference to the phrase crabs in a bucket It describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase “if I can’t have it, neither can you.” The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs. Individually, the crabs could easily escape from the pot, but instead, they grab at each other in a useless “king of the hill” competition which prevents any from escaping and ensures their collective demise. The analogy in human behavior is that members of a group will attempt to “pull down” (negate or diminish the importance of) any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of envy, conspiracy or competitive feelings.
The concept figures prominently in Terry Pratchett‘s novel “Unseen Academicals.” A fish monger does not bother to keep a lid on the crab bucket because “any that tries to get out gets pulled back.” The protagonist comes to realize that his social status results not from external repression, but from his own low expectations of himself: “The worst of it is, the crab that mostly keeps you down is you.”
This term is broadly associated with short-sighted, non-constructive thinking rather than a unified, long-term, constructive mentality. It is also often used colloquially in reference to individuals or communities attempting to improve their socio-economic situations, but kept from doing so by others attempting to ride upon their coat-tails or those who simply resent their success.
The popularity of the phrase has made accusing opponents of crab mentality a common form of defense against criticism, whether the criticism is valid or not. In logic, this tactic is considered a common logical fallacy known as argumentum ad invidiam, or appeal to envy.

This mentality is probably relevant to almost anyone’s life, as we can see it all around us, especially in the social institutions that hold us hostage. Most people look at their everyday encounters as if they were all zero sum games, where they can only get ahead by knocking someone else down.
Isn’t it possible for everyone to just do their own thing, and use their intellect to work things out when they get in each other’s way? This seems like a far safer and more productive way of doing business than we see today, where many people think that they only way to get ahead is to cut others down. The mainstream culture has yet to catch onto this concept, but that doesn’t mean that we have to stagnate with them. In our everyday encounters, business interactions and especially our conflicts, we can take the high road by using our intellect to meet our needs without violating the rights of others.
Even in today’s world, with seemingly limited resources we can still all get by without slaughtering each other and stirring up trouble.

Although Exarchia is in the shadow of the country’s capital city, it has become a hotbed of freedom and mutual aid programs during a dark time for the whole country. Due to the rising freedom in the area, people from all over have begun to move in and help to build the community.
The mainstream media has demonized the community and has painted it as a stronghold for anarchists, drug dealers, criminals and homeless people, and the community has become understandably resistant to the mainstream media as a result. The media, the police, and government officials are not welcome in the territory and are rarely brave enough to pass through, knowing that the community is united and defiant in their resistant to the establishment.
Exarchia is one of the most common areas where people will resist police brutality with force, and it is also one of the most active areas of the country in terms of activism. The walls of the streets are covered with posters, writing and graffiti that is distinctly political and anti-state.
In 2008, police killed a young boy in Exarchia sparking massive protests and riots, and since that incident, police have avoided the area, knowing that they are not welcome.
There are a wide variety of cooperatives and independent social welfare and mutual aid organizations in Exarchia, including time banks and free health care services that are voluntarily funded without any taxation.
One thing that is most interesting about what we have witnessed so far is that the actual behavior of people in the midst of economic and societal collapse is nothing like the popular “every person for themselves” scenario that is often touted by mainstream thinkers who have a very cynical and distorted view of what is truly inside people’s hearts.
In these desperate situations where people’s compassion and ingenuity has been tested, communities have come together on their own accord, without any authority telling them what to do and they have worked side by side nonviolently, in mutually beneficial exchanges that made all parties involved better off.
