<p>Ben Carson recently affirmed that Planned Parenthood places its clinics in black neighborhoods solely for the purpose of controlling the African American population. Ben Carson <a href="http://www.breitbart.com/video/2015/08/12/ben-carson-planned-parenthood-clinics-put-in-black-neighborhoods-to-control-that-population/" target="_blank">said</a>:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Well, maybe I’m not objective when it comes to Planned Parenthood. But you know, I know who Margaret Sanger is, and I know that she believed in eugenics, and that she was not particularly enamored with black people… And one of the reasons that you find most of their clinics in black neighborhoods is so that you can find way to control that population. And I think people should go back and read about Margaret Sanger, who founded this place — a woman who Hillary Clinton by the say says she admires. Look and see what many people in Nazi Germany thought about her.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Carson spoke the truth. Margaret Sanger was part of the American Eugenics Society, and this society was admired and praised by Adolf Hitler himself. As author Stefan Kuhl <a href="http://www.spectacle.org/997/richmond.html" target="_blank">writes</a>:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>In 1934 one of Hitler’s staff members wrote to Leon Whitney of the American Eugenics Society and asked in the name of the Fuhrer for a copy of Whitney’s recently published book, The Case for Sterilization. Whitney complied immediately, and shortly thereafter received a personal letter of thanks from Adolf Hitler. In his unpublished autobiography, Whitney reported a conversation he had with Madison Grant about the letter from the Fuhrer. Because he thought Grant might be interested in Hitler’s letter he showed it to him during their next meeting. Grant only smiled, reached for a folder on his desk, and gave Whitney a letter from Hitler to read. In this, Hitler thanked Grant for writing The Passing of the Great Race and said that “the book was his Bible.” Whitney concluded that, following Hitler’s actions, one could believe it. <p>Margaret Sanger appointed Lothrop Stoddard as a board member of the Birth Control League, and Stoddard <a href="http://www.spectacle.org/997/richmond.html" target="_blank">loved</a> the Nazis and all of the killings they were doing:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>When the Nazis came to power, argued Stoddard, they started to increase “both the size and the quality of the population.” They coupled initiatives designed to encourage “sound” citizens to reproduce with a “drastic curb of the defective elements.” Stoddard personally witnessed how the Nazis were “weeding out the worst strains in the Germanic stock in a scientific and truly humanitarian way.”</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Ben Carson also <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/aug/12/ben-carson-black-lives-matter-activists-creating-strife" target="_blank">made</a> the astute observation that if “black lives” really mattered, then we should be focusing on the huge murder rate amongst blacks themselves:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Of course black lives matter… But what I feel instead of people pointing fingers at each other and just creating strife, what we need to be talking about is how do we solve problems in the black community. Of murder, essentially.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Of course, you will have left wing black activists that will hate Mr. Carson for expressing these wise sentiments. We must ask ourselves: why do so many of the blacks hate those who desire to help them? Ben Carson lived in the slums, and he rose above it, not allowing it to shape or mold him, but instead pursuing success within his fullest capacity. He is a living evidence that blacks most definitely are given the freedom and are enabled to be successful in American society. But instead we do not hear of the success of Carson’s, and of other blacks, rather we continuously hear about blacks are are oppressed by whites; how prisons are built just for blacks; how slavery has never ended.</p>
<p>Yes, black slavery has never ended; its still here, in America. The difference is that many of the blacks have chosen <em>willful slavery.</em> The worst form of slavery is willful slavery. Instead of following the examples of men like Dr. Carson, they have chosen to praise blacks whose success was done solely from low class actions. Ben Carson is an accomplished brain surgeon. Most blacks would never want to follow his example. Instead they want to model themselves after pimps (pimp is now a compliment), hookers and criminals. Rappers make millions from creating heaps of feces called “rap music.”<br />
These are the ones who are praised, while it is the righteous who are spat on.</p>
<p>Yet they still speak of slavery as though we are still in the past. A new slavery has arisen, and it has enslaved most of us. It is the slavery of the mind. Look around you and you will see everyone in the chains of trends; the fetters of industrially made popularities. Being a slut is now esteemed as being “free,” and as “women’s liberation,” while modesty, fidelity and chastity, are seen as “caveman” ideas. Those who esteem the pure roles of womanhood, are accused of not being of the American ideal, and told to leave America and go to Pakistan, or are suspected of being a Muslims (this has happened to me quite too many times). Those who are sons of God, and strive to be free from the flesh, are deemed as slaves; but those who are slaves to evil, who sell their bodies just for the stroke of the evil, are said to be free. Today the slave is esteemed as free, and the free enslaved. We cannot help but say with the prophet:</p>

<p>The wicked prowl on every side,<br />
When vileness is exalted among the sons of men. (Psalm 12:8)</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Those who live the life of the harlot, are truly slaves; slaves to the industrial system, slaves to fads and popular opinion. It is through God that we are free, it is through God that our minds are liberated. Freedom is a state of mind. You could live in a concentration camp and be more free than anyone living in America, if your mind is free. As the Scripture says, “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” (Proverbs 16:32)</p>
<p>This is the stillness of the mind that the holy fathers wrote of. One could be in a war, and if he has stillness, his faith will be unshakable. “Even the most gruesome wars can rage,” wrote St. Paulinus of Nola, “but the peace of freedom must attend our minds.” Awareness of God is the very essence of the Christian life. When we look at Christian icons, paintings, architecture, or when we listen to the ancient chants of the saints, we are in awareness of God — this is the purpose of such beautiful things.</p>
<p>If one could maintain awareness of God for his entire life, then he would never fear anything. This is stillness. It is the stillness of faith, stillness of the heart, of the mind, and it never wavers because it is like a house on the rock. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10) Awareness can be disturbed by the simple distractions of daily life, or the most tragic of events (this is part of the human struggle), but if we can fight that urge to turn away from knowing that God is amongst us, if we can uproot it, kill it, burn it in the fires of zeal, then we will continue awareness on God and present ourselves as living sacrifices before Heaven. One of the most beautiful lines that I have read is from St. Romuald:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>Sit in your cell as in paradise. Put the whole world behind you and forget it. Watch your thoughts like a good fisherman watching for fish. The path you must follow is in the Psalms—never leave it. … And if your mind wanders as you read, do not give up; hurry back and apply your mind to the words once more.</p>
<p>Realize above all that you are in God’s presence, and stand there with the attitude of one who stands before the emperor. Empty yourself completely and sit waiting, content with the grace of God, like the chick who tastes nothing and eats nothing but what his mother brings him.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The wicked dictate to the society what is popular and what is acceptable, but all we must do is laugh at them. For by becoming in union with God, we are in union with Truth, “and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)</p>
<p>We have to prepare our minds and intellect for this spiritual war that we are in. This is why I made a 2-disk DVD series on teaching the warring spirit of the Christian Faith.</p>
<p>For too long Christianity has been watered down in our modern day as a pacifist faith with no inclination of fighting evil. But is the Church here to be weak and useless? <p>Police clashed with hundreds of protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, for a second night on Monday after a day of intense protests over the use of deadly force by American law enforcement that saw 144 people arrested.</p>
<p>But further gun violence appeared to have been avoided following the ordering of a state of emergency by county authorities and the announcement of criminal charges against a black 18-year-old who was shot by police after allegedly opening fire on their vehicle during chaotic scenes late on Sunday.</p>
<p>Officers in riot gear from St. Louis County police and the Missouri highway patrol snatched several demonstrators from the crowds and made 23 arrests through a hot August evening on Monday. Projectiles such as stones and plastic bottles filled with ice were repeatedly thrown at police lines during a standoff on a main street.</p>
<p>“Safety, our top priority, is now compromised,” a St. Louis County police spokesman said on Twitter soon after 10 p.m. “This is no longer a peaceful protest. Participants are now unlawfully assembled.”</p>
<p>At least three men were pinned down and arrested in one abrupt mass swoop on the front of a row of shops by police, which took a large group of protesters by surprise. “They had weapons on them,” one county police officer said to the Guardian about the men arrested, declining to elaborate.</p>
<p>In other confrontations, officers liberally sprayed pepper spray or mace in the eyes of protesters while driving them from the road on to the pavement. But by 2 a.m., as the final protesters dispersed, no tear gas or smoke canisters had been used as on several previous nights.</p>
<p>Demonstrators had gathered through the evening on West Florissant Avenue, the site of repeated protests following the fatal shooting last August by a white police officer of Michael Brown, an unarmed, black 18-year-old. Brown’s death and those of several others have led to months of unrest around the U.S. and brought a debate over race and policing to the forefront of American public life.</p>
<p>Hundreds of people had descended on Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis, for the anniversary on Sunday of Brown’s death. Commemoration events over the weekend were followed by a so-called Moral Monday, comprising acts of peaceful civil disobedience.</p>
<p>The philosopher Cornel West and the prominent young protest leaders DeRay McKesson and Johnetta “Netta” Elzie were among 57 demonstrators detained in plastic handcuffs and arrested by officers from the Department of Homeland Security and St. Louis metropolitan police at the federal courthouse in the city’s downtown district after sitting in front of the entrance and refusing to move. All three were later released.</p>
<p>Later on Monday, 64 protesters were arrested by police after blocking interstate highway 70 in both directions near Ferguson. Traffic was held up as police forcefully confronted demonstrators. Two reporters covering the protest action were briefly detained before being released, they said.</p>
<p>The state of emergency order was announced by St. Louis County executive Steve Stenger, who said in a statement he was acting “in light of last night’s violence and unrest in the city of Ferguson, and the potential for harm to persons and property.”</p>
<p>A tense standoff continued throughout the night on Monday with protesters grouped on one side of the street and police wearing riot helmets and holding shields on the other.</p>
<p>Police lines were sporadically pelted with bottles and rocks. At one point, as officers broke their lines and chased down a protester who appeared to have thrown a bottle, they pinned the man down and pepper sprayed him in the face.</p>
<p>In a surreal twist, some heavily armed men from the Oath Keepers – a militia who claim to uphold the values of the U.S. constitution – arrived on West Florissant Avenue as crowds began to disperse.</p>
<p>A spokesman for the group, who only gave his first name as “John” and held a loaded M-15 rifle as he spoke, said police had welcomed the Oath Keepers’ presence at the protest but told them to stay away from police lines.</p>
<p>“John” said the men were working on behalf of Info Wars, a conspiracy-minded news site, but were not receiving any payment. Their presence drew the ire of many protesters, who accused them of exacerbating an already tense standoff.</p>

<p>Forget the hype that vegan food tastes like cardboard, it <em>must </em>be good if the company Google is <a href="http://thenextweb.com/google/2015/07/28/is-vegan-food-googles-next-big-thing-it-reportedly-tried-to-buy-a-synthetic-burger-company/" rel="nofollow">seeking to buy out</a> a faux cheeseburger company.</p>
<p>As <a href="https://www.theinformation.com/Google-Bid-for-Cheeseburger-Company-Impossible-Foods" rel="nofollow">reported by <em>The Information</em></a>, an unconfirmed report has it that Google recently tried to purchase <em><a href="http://impossiblefoods.com/" rel="nofollow">Impossible Foods</a></em>, a startup founded by Stanford University professor Patrick Brown. The offer, reported to be around $200 to $300 million, was turned down, however.</p>
<p>The company is the mastermind behind ‘The Impossible Cheeseburger’, a “garden burger” that takes meat alternatives to the next level. In fact, this faux meat offering is designed to look, smell, taste and cook like it came from an animal.</p>
<p>According to the website:</p>

<p><em>We looked at animal products at the molecular level, then selected specific proteins and nutrients from greens, seeds, and grains to recreate the wonderfully complex experience of meats and dairy products. For thousands of years we’ve relied on animals as our technology to transform plants into meat, milk, and eggs. Impossible Foods has found a better way.</em></p>
</blockquote>
<p>For good reason, <em>Impossible Foods </em>was listed on CNBC’s Disruptor 50 List in 2015, which features private companies <em>“whose innovations are revolutionizing the business landscape”</em> and <em>“have potential to become billion-dollar businesses.” </em></p>
<p>With growing interest in plant-based, sustainable, and more cruelty-free food options, it definitely seems an intelligent business to invest in. Even <a href="http://www.trueactivist.com/going-vegan-could-save-the-world-reports-un-study/" rel="nofollow">the UN says that the world needs to shift towards a plant-based, vegan diet</a> to prevent worsening climate change. And now it may be easier, thanks to options produced by companies like <em><a href="http://impossiblefoods.com/" rel="nofollow">Impossible Foods</a></em>.</p>
<p>Now consumers have access to everything from eggless Mayonnaise to plant-based chicken strips, and the ‘deliciousness’ factor seems to only be improving with time.</p>
<p>It is the intention of <a href="http://impossiblefoods.com/" rel="nofollow">Impossible Foods</a> to have its cheeseburgers for sale in stores by next year. The company also wants to make other meat substitutions.</p>

<p>The Securities and Exchange Commission <a href="http://www.sec.gov/news/pressrelease/2015-160.html" rel="nofollow">approved a rule</a> last week requiring that large publicly held corporations disclose the ratios of the pay of their top CEOs to the pay of their median workers.</p>
<p>About time.</p>
<p>For the last thirty years almost all incentives operating on American corporations have resulted in lower pay for average workers and higher pay for CEOs and other top executives.</p>
<p>Consider that in 1965, CEOs of America’s largest corporations were paid, on average, 20 times the pay of average workers.</p>
<p>Now, the ratio is over 300 to 1.</p>
<p>Not only has CEO pay exploded, so has the pay of top executives just below them. The share of corporate income devoted to compensating the five highest-paid executives of large corporations ballooned from an average of 5 percent in 1993 to more than 15 percent by 2005 (the latest data available).</p>
<p>Corporations might otherwise have devoted this sizable sum to research and development, additional jobs, higher wages for average workers, or dividends to shareholders – who, not incidentally, are supposed to be the owners of the firm.</p>
<p>Corporate apologists say CEOs and other top executives are worth these amounts because their corporations have performed so well over the last three decades that CEOs are like star baseball players or movie stars.</p>
<p>Baloney. Most CEOs haven’t done anything special. The entire stock market surged over this time. Even if a company’s CEO simply played online solitaire for thirty years, the company’s stock would have ridden the wave. Besides, that stock market surge has had less to do with widespread economic gains that with changes in market rules favoring big companies and major banks over average employees, consumers, and taxpayers.</p>
<p>Consider, for example, the stronger and more extensive intellectual-property rights now enjoyed by major corporations, and the far weaker antitrust enforcement against them. Add in the rash of taxpayer-funded bailouts, taxpayer-funded subsidies, and bankruptcies favoring big banks and corporations over employees and small borrowers. Not to mention trade agreements making it easier to outsource American jobs, and state legislation (cynically termed “right-to-work” laws) dramatically reducing the power of unions to bargain for higher wages. The result has been higher stock prices but not higher living standards for most Americans.</p>
<p>Which doesn’t justify sky-high CEO pay unless you think some CEOs deserve it for their political prowess in wangling these legal changes through Congress and state legislatures. It even turns out the higher the CEO pay, the worse the firm does.</p>
<p>Professors Michael J. Cooper of the University of Utah, Huseyin Gulen of Purdue University, and P. Raghavendra Rau of the University of Cambridge, recently found that companies with the highest-paid CEOs returned about 10 percent less to their shareholders than do their industry peers.</p>
<p>So why aren’t shareholders hollering about CEO pay? Because corporate law in the United States gives shareholders at most an advisory role. They can holler all they want, but CEOs don’t have to listen.</p>
<p>Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle, received a pay package in 2013 valued at $78.4 million, a sum so stunning that Oracle shareholders rejected it. That made no difference because Ellison controlled the board. In Australia, by contrast, shareholders have the right to force an entire corporate board to stand for re-election if 25 percent or more of a company’s shareholders vote against a CEO pay plan two years in a row.</p>
<p>Which is why Australian CEOs are paid an average of only 70 times the pay of the typical Australian worker. The new SEC rule requiring disclosure of pay ratios could help strengthen the hand of American shareholders. The rule might generate other reforms as well – such as pegging corporate tax rates to those ratios.</p>
<p>Under a bill introduced in the California legislature last year, a company whose CEO earns only 25 times the pay of its typical worker would pay a corporate tax rate of only 7 percent, rather than the 8.8 percent rate now applied to all California firms.</p>
<p>On the other hand, a company whose CEO earns 200 times the pay of its typical employee, would face a 9.5 percent rate. If the CEO earned 400 times, the rate would be 13 percent. The bill hasn’t made it through the legislature because business groups call it a “job killer.” The reality is the opposite. CEOs don’t create jobs. Their customers create jobs by buying more of what their companies have to sell.</p>
<p>So pushing companies to put less money into the hands of their CEOs and more into the hands of their average employees will create more jobs. The SEC’s disclosure rule isn’t perfect. Some corporations could try to game it by contracting out their low-wage jobs. Some industries pay their typical workers higher wages than other industries.</p>
<p>But the rule marks an important start.</p>

<p>Dear Bernie Sanders supporters,</p>
<p>Shut up and listen for once. When black women interrupt your candidate, don't call them "thugs." And when protesters hijack your hero's microphone to have their story heard, it doesn't mean they're paid provocateurs in some elaborate plot involving George Soros and Hillary Clinton. You know who else propagates wild conspiracy theories about George Soros funding left-wing protesters? <a href="http://www.glennbeck.com/2015/03/17/you-wont-believe-the-progressive-puppeteers-behind-the-ferguson-protesters/" rel="nofollow">Glenn Beck</a> and <a href="http://allenbwest.com/2015/01/exposed-george-soros-secret-underwriter-spontaneous-ferguson-protests/" rel="nofollow">Allen West</a>. So congratulations, white progressives – your fanaticism for Bernie has turned you into the thing you hate.</p>
<p>Bernie Sanders says the only thing that will guarantee his election is a <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jul/18/bernie-sanders-calls-for-political-revolution-at-democratic-fundraiser" rel="nofollow">"political revolution."</a> But when that revolution tried to speak, <a href="https://twitter.com/paulconstant/status/630134853497794560" rel="nofollow">you suppressed it</a>.</p>
<p>Unlike Occupy Wall Street, this movement wasn't started by or largely made up of white progressives. And unlike Occupy, this movement isn't just about a higher minimum wage or free college education or single-payer healthcare. This movement was started by people who are fed up with watching their friends and family die in their streets, their homes, and their churches, at the hands of the very people charged with protecting them, and having to watch those people walk away from countless dead bodies without facing any consequences. Black people are statistically <a href="http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/08/police-shootings-ferguson-race-data" rel="nofollow">four times more likely to die in police custody</a> than whites. And that's something white progressives like you and me never have to worry about. We have the privilege of being able to talk about lofty policy goals that may be achieved at some point in our lifetime, and putting "all that racial stuff" on the back burner. Everyone who isn't white doesn't have that privilege.</p>
<p>Madison, Wisconsin, one of the most liberal cities in the nation, epitomizes white progressive America. The Wisconsin Uprising brought out <a href="http://www.socialistalternative.org/2011/03/16/saturday-protest-in-madison-draws-150000-to-200000-one-day-general-strike-needed-to-reverse-walker%C2%92s-bill/" rel="nofollow">almost 200,000 people</a> in early 2011 to support worker's rights even in the middle of a Midwestern winter. They also mobilized to elect <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/07/politics/wisconsin-tammy-baldwin-senate/" rel="nofollow">Tammy Baldwin</a>, the first openly gay U.S. Senator. Madison's mayor, Paul Soglin, used to be an <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/11/us/11mayor.html" rel="nofollow">ardent antiwar activist</a> in the 1960s.</p>
<p>But Madison, just like America's white progressive movement, is just as racist as it is liberal. Madison is the same place where unarmed 19-year-old Tony Robinson, who was black, was killed by white Madison police officer Matt Kenny, <a href="http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2015/05/12/tony_robinson_death_police_officer_who_shot_and_killed_the_unarmed_black.html" rel="nofollow">who didn't face charges</a>. African-Americans are incarcerated at <a href="http://host.madison.com/news/local/writers/steven_elbow/bbc-looks-at-wisconsin-s-highest-in-nation-incarceration-rate/article_b1af2c4a-eb50-5ef8-afd3-51eb3c12af82.html" rel="nofollow">higher rates in Wisconsin</a> (12.8 percent in 2013, second-place Oklahoma's rate was 10 percent) than anywhere else in the country. Mayor Soglin has become a crusader for gentrifiers, proposing to <a href="http://host.madison.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/k-plan-to-help-city-s-homeless-leave-town-draws/article_f068def6-198d-11e2-8332-0019bb2963f4.html" rel="nofollow">buy $25,000 in bus tickets</a> to push out the homeless population, and recently <a href="http://host.madison.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/paul-soglin-vetoes-making-homelessness-a-protected-class/article_266af7e6-30fe-5200-8ffd-a749f58aa348.html" rel="nofollow">vetoing a proposal</a> to make the homeless a protected class. Just as Seattle's mostly-white crowd of Bernie Sanders supporters was offended at being called white supremacists, anyone protesting Scott Walker at the Wisconsin state capitol or waving a rainbow flag on State Street would be deeply offended if they were told they were complicit supporters of institutional white supremacy.</p>
<p>And that's precisely <a href="https://twitter.com/BLFsea/status/630133621576241152" rel="nofollow">the problem with white progressives</a>.</p>
<p>Do you wish the protesters would've stayed quiet? The Seattle Police Department has been <a href="http://www.justice.gov/crt/about/spl/seattlepd.php" rel="nofollow">under federal consent decree</a> for the last three years after the U.S. Department of Justice found evidence of excessive use of force and discriminatory policing. The people subjected to that excessive force don't have any interest in staying quiet.</p>
<p>Are you angry that you never got to hear Bernie's speech on Medicare and Social Security? Someone who lost <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/08/08/christian-taylor-killed_n_7959440.html" rel="nofollow">their college classmate</a> to police gunfire is even angrier, because they don't even know if they'll be alive by the time they're eligible for those programs.</p>
<p>Are you upset that you didn't get to hear Bernie talk about a $15 an hour minimum wage? Someone who has been economically destitute for so long because no employers will call them back for an interview <a href="http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/mar/15/jalen-ross/black-name-resume-50-percent-less-likely-get-respo/" rel="nofollow">due to the blackness name listed on the resume</a> won't get a fair chance to earn that wage.</p>
<p>Are you pissed off that you didn't get to hear Bernie Sanders talk about free college education? Seattle just spent <a href="http://seattleglobalist.com/2015/02/10/king-county-approves-new-youth-jail-contract-amid-protest/33615" rel="nofollow">$210 million</a> on a new juvenile prison, where 42 percent of the juvenile inmate population is black even though they only make up 8 percent of Seattle's juvenile population. How can someone think about free college when they're being forced through the school-to-prison pipeline?</p>
<p>The primary process of a presidential election is a time where acts of disruption should be encouraged, no matter the target. In a healthy democracy, protesters' disruptions of candidates' stump speeches would be celebrated. Almost all of this year's presidential candidates are current or former governors, U.S. senators, or wealthy captains of industry and have the means to be able to have their voices heard at any time they like. But the people dying in the streets and living under the thumb of institutional racism don't have that privilege. And if they have to shut down a campaign event to force candidates and the media to acknowledge their epidemic and propose solutions, they'll do it.</p>
<p>As someone who has said they are the only candidate who can represent the oppressed underclass, and who has run on his record of <a href="http://time.com/3896500/bernie-sanders-vermont-campaign-radical/" rel="nofollow">sitting in to protest Jim Crow laws in the 1960s</a>, Bernie Sanders deserves to be disrupted precisely for this reason. As unfair as it may seem to his supporters, it doesn't matter to young black people losing their friends and family today that a white liberal in the 1960s <a href="http://rhrealitycheck.org/ablc/2015/07/22/youre-white-marched-dr-king/#comment-2153255544" rel="nofollow">did what he was expected to do</a> – the only thing that matters is what he's doing right now.</p>
<p>After getting interrupted at Netroots Nation, storming off the stage, and refusing to meet with Black Lives Matter protesters, Bernie Sanders wised up and hired Symone Sanders – a powerful, outspoken, young black woman who volunteers at the <a href="http://www.juvjustice.org/" rel="nofollow">Coalition for Juvenile Justice</a> – to be his national press secretary after <a href="http://www.buzzfeed.com/evanmcsan/bernie-sanders-campaign-adds-young-black-woman-as-new-public#.tldyQ6NkEl" rel="nofollow">she convinced him</a> that economic inequality and racial inequality are interconnected. Bernie Sanders used to get <a href="http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/bernie-sanders-progressive-whitopia/article/2565077" rel="nofollow">called out by conservatives</a> for omitting racial justice from his stump speech. But on Sunday he's since <a href="https://berniesanders.com/issues/racial-justice/" rel="nofollow">revised his website</a> and stump speech to address about racial injustice issues of mass incarceration, voting rights, police militarization, and how black people are disproportionately targeted. This is proof that disruption works. And we need more of it, not less.</p>
<p>If your issue isn't getting talked about, and if a candidate is coming to your town for a public event, you should absolutely do everything you can to be heard. Last month, Hillary Clinton <a href="http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2015/07/16/hillary_clinton_got_heckled_by_climate_activists_at_a_new_hampshire_town.html" rel="nofollow">got heckled</a> for her horrendous record on climate change. Protesters greeted Martin O'Malley <a href="http://thinkprogress.org/election/2015/05/30/3664429/omalley-baltimore/" rel="nofollow">at his campaign announcement</a> in Baltimore, saying he "must atone" for propagating racially-biased policing as Baltimore's mayor. In New Hampshire, Scott Walker was the subject of a clever <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/08/03/scott-walker-just-got-punked-at-a-new-hampshire-pizza-shop/" rel="nofollow">photo-op protest</a>, regarding his campaign donations from the Koch Brothers. Protest is essential to political discourse, and protest only works if you succeed in changing the conversation. Was it rude for <a href="https://outsideagitators206.org/" rel="nofollow">OutsideAgitators206</a> to interrupt Bernie Sanders? Yes. But did they succeed in pushing Black Lives Matter to the front of the conversation? <a href="https://www.google.com/#q=bernie+sanders+black+lives+matter+seattle" rel="nofollow">Absolutely</a>.</p>
<p>Bernie's supporters need to realize that Bernie Sanders is not the leader of this political revolution. We all are. Let the revolution unfold – Bernie is welcome to join if he's ready.</p>
